7 pointsWell we got what most hoped for, but I am not sure anyone can say what it will mean. There is a purported Chinese curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." Regardless of the debatable origin of the phrase, it rings true and we we are about to enter a period of interesting times. The example of 'what Harper and his cronies will do" is not something that concerns me. Their position is that prostitution is wrong and immoral, anti-Christian if that suits. But Harper has clearly shown that his personal beliefs are not something that he will force into law in a direct means. Despite the fact that he is anti-abortion, he gives folks in his caucus a smack-down if they bring the issue up. Most of the rabble-rousing in this area comes from the back-benches where as Prime Minister, but more importantly as party leader, he has less influence/leverage to keep them individuals muzzled. He recognizes that there is no way to "win" the argument, so he will avoid it as best he can. Regardless, if you think they can draft, and get a bill of that magnitude and impact into law by one year from now you then really don't watch politics much. This is going to be a long debate, and I think they will try and avoid it, particularly as we are heading to an election in a year or so. If you are looking right to find the loudest and most dangerous opposition to legalizing sex-work then you are looking the wrong way. Turn your head 180, and look left. This is where the strongest proponents of the Nordic model are coming from. They don't look at prostitution as being wrong in a moral or religious sense, they see it as wrong in a sense of exploitation. That is why we see "ex-sex workers", radical feminists, etc, all purporting that sex work is exploitation. These are the ones that have the ear of the press, they are the ones who are going to pull out the emotional arguments and find all the exploited victims. They are the activists who already have the machinery behind them to put the argument in place. The victims make much better press, and the media in this country are much bigger whores than anyone we would find on this board. Harper and his guys are going to be looked at as putting forth the moral/religious argument, which these days has little traction overall in this country. Most folks didn't vote for him for his religious convictions despite what many would think. The one argument that is going to get traction in the media is the exploitation angle. It makes much better press. Just watch what the Toronto Star and Globe start printing in the next few days. We are about to enter a period of very interesting times.

4 pointsThere was a "SP counselor" on CBC who said every single one of the women who come to see her about leaving the business....want to leave the business. The media assume or claim all women in the business are victims and all customers are exploiting them. DUH! Obviously if they come to see a counselor for help on getting out of the business, then they want to get out of the business! Yes it seems obvious but the CBC and other media are using statements like this to prove that ALL the women in the business are therefore exploited and want to leave. Imagine doing a survey of cars at a brake repair place. Since all the cars there need brake repairs does that mean all cars everywhere need repair? Of course not. The real concern is that the TeaParty Conservatives are likely to draft draconian laws based on getting votes with no concern for the well being of anyone but themselves. Remember this is the party that said anyone who was against unlimited government access to YOUR emails and computers would only be opposed by pedos. Additional Comments: but I can't help myself. The last part of Kay's idiotic article says many of the prostitutes a madam knew are homeless, drug addicted and/or have committed suicide. How convenient that all prostitutes are identical, it makes them so much easier to write about. I know many members of the armed forces who are in the same boat. I had a severe drinking problem for several years after leaving the army. And I can name five or six guys offhand who have committed suicide or drank themselves to death. Maybe Kay should think about getting rid of the army? Or how about the police, some of them drink and suffer from stress? I guess it is beyong her imagination that some of us lowly non-journalists actually have minds of our own and can live happy productive lives without her guidance. Of course all ladies aren't happy hookers. And they aren't all helpless victims. They are a large, diverse group of people with different opinions, different backgrounds, and different goals. In other words, they are just like everyone else.

4 pointsWell, it's awesome news... for now. Happy Christmas to us! It's somewhat annoying that the laws still stand for another year, but I don't really think that's unreasonable; given that the laws of the land are supposed to be made by the legislature after proper consideration and reasoned debate (yeah, right), it seems reasonable to allow them a chance to do their job. Alas, the hard part now begins. The great thing about the courts is that they run on evidence; if you want a court to believe something, you have to be able to prove it, and to knock down the evidence and arguments that the other side brings. The judgement, when it's made, gives due weight to the evidence presented. The fact that this was a 9-0 decision indicates that this has been done in spectacular style, for now. But... the next bit of the battle is in the political arena, and here facts must do battle with rumour and lies and deceit and misinformation and ignorance. That's much harder. The big problem at this stage is that although most people probably aren't interested in policing what consenting adults get up to in private, sex work is very much associated with people-trafficking and exploitation in the eyes of many people. Never mind that other industries employ many more trafficked and enslaved people (Hello, construction! Hi there, agriculture!); never mind that there are plenty of sex workers who are doing precisely what they want to be doing and are forced by nobody; sex work is what frequently grabs the headlines. There's a lot of people who work very hard to ensure this link remains in the minds of the population at large, and if it isn't broken then there's a good chance that whatever legislation finally comes through is likely to be yet another attempt to marginalize everyone involved in the industry and push the whole lot back into the shadows. There's also a lot of people who simply can't understand that making an entire industry illegal does nothing but help those who would exploit others, and prevent victims from seeking help from others. These things need to be understood better by the average person if the political debate is to be won.

2 pointsWe lived in a very snow hit section of Cape Breton and when I was 12 my sister and I received a small ski doo. Remember way back when, the Elan 250 . I loved that ski doo, it led me to my first ever money making venture , snaring rabbits .( sorry to all I may offend ) . I had lots of fun as well of course but it permitted me to venture deep into the forest and catch lots of rabbits . Business boomed amd the phone never stopped ringing with requests . Hey I was way more popular then than I am now . To bad the coyotes ate all the rabbits !!

2 pointsHooray! One small step for a court, one giant leap for a system of laws. It's true, the current laws remain in full effect for the coming year, and we don't know what new laws Parliament might pass in the year that's available to it. But at least we won't see a mindless restoration of the laws almost-as-they-were; the court's rationale remains in place to guide whatever is coming. I think at least now there's a fresh conversation to be had in the public square. The ruling by the Supreme Court will create some new awareness of the issues involved, and at the same time its ruling weakens the knee-jerk responses of old that just appealed to shallow conservative tradition. we'll see what 2014 brings. But I'm optimistic for the long-term.

2 pointsMy CERB Goddess of the Day today is Emily Rushton. You may ask why she is my CERB Goddess of the Day, when I have mentioned her twice in this thread already, both on her own, and combined with Lonna Lux. In previous mentions in this thread though, my focus was more on Emily as a great companion and contributor to CERB. But in posting in another thread, Reflections on 2013, a year overall which has been a bad year for me, I realized how much of a friend Emily has been and is. She deserves, in my honest opinion, to be my CERB Goddess of the Day not because she is a great companion (she is that BTW) nor because she is a great contributor to CERB (she is that too BTW) but because she has become a good friend, as good as the friends I have in civilian life. Emily is a beautiful person, both inside and out, a real gem. And she is my CERB Goddess of the Day today Thank You Emily

2 pointsI would like to thank everyone for the positive feedback. The response from members is what makes ita very good event and its great to have a huge turn out. Also it really helps us in getting the night off to a great start when all make the effort to buy their tickets in advance. Again we sold out by our set deadline which is essential for covering all expenses. To the ladies once again response was great and we filled all places early. Sorry for those who could not make it due to last minute personal situations. Thanks for getting in touch and letting us know. Special thanks again to ALO and CMJ for their very generous door prizes contribution. We truly appreciate your generosity! We also had contributions from some members which added to ladies door prizes. Would like to wish everyone happy holidays. Be safe if you are travelling, hopefully we will get a break from snow soon. Looking forward to our next social on March 20th!

1 pointThere is a line running through my mind lately, "It's only you, Maynard", that's a recurring line from a TV show. I know the show and the character referenced (anyone care to guess before you go visit Mr. Google?) but when I checked, I was startled to see when the show was on the air. That got me to thinking about what was my earliest TV memory? I come up with Romper Room, Captain Kangaroo, and seeing President Eisenhower giving a speech. Clearly, that's from way back. Yours?

1 pointAround this time last year a similar thread was started about 2013. I went back to review my list and discovered that I was very efficient and met every lady on my list, some more than once. Yet there are always a few that I have not had the pleasure of eating, er, meeting yet. At the risk of offending some (not intentional) here is my wish list for 2014. In no particular order: Kathryn Bardot Cute0aza0button EmilyOreo Sexy Playmate Mia Alexxxis Roksi Mykaelle There are so many more that could be added to the list. Plus there are my favourites who I see regularly, if not as often as I'd like. 2014 is going to be a busy year!

1 pointLet's get creative folks:) Let's see who can come up with cute sexy and naughty Christmas poems:) MUST WRITE YOURSELF! YOU MAY USE RHYME TOOLS:) CAN BE A POEM, STORY OR A SONG:) I will submit this one, I wrote it last year:) On a cold and stormy night, here sits Mrs. Clause. She is restless as she awaits for her Santa Clause! Now her dear Santa has been too busy spreading joy, to all the good little girl's and boy's. A satin red and white teddy, she slips on but now may have to wait until dawn! She thinks about CERB, and creates an ad. Asks herself " should I be bad? " Stocking and garter's are on and are lips glistening red Her first date arrives and his name is Ted. He lays her down and removes her teddy panting and moaning she seems to be ready! Both with messy hair, and desire have been fulfilled He says to her" Thank you Mame, it sure was a thrill!" Passes her unsealed envelope, I will call you again! Now Mrs Clause surely can not complain! Written By Sophia Varoushka:smile:

1 pointI agree. I don't really understand why, if the laws are deemed unconstitutional, as they have been, that they would give a stay of one year. It's basically saying: yes, we have determined that your constitutional rights are being broken, but we are allowing it to continue. Even the Federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay said himself: "A number of other Criminal Code provisions remain in place to protect those engaged in prostitution and other vulnerable persons, and to address the negative effects prostitution has on communities." He basically means that laws prohibiting violence & abuse, exploitation, slavery, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, rape, sex with a minor, coercion, trafficking, public nuisance, and commercial zoning laws are all still in place. That said, then what is the real purpose of keeping these other unconstitutional laws in place for another year? How is it not unconstitutional to keep unconstitutional laws in effect? There is a few reasons that come to mind. None of which I would condone.

1 pointTwo different Christmas memories come to mind. First there was King Zor! He was a blue/green dinosaur that rumbled and roared and when you shot his tail he would turn on you and shoot you with his integrated canon ball launcher. Basically he was one fucked up dino with attitude. The second was Mattel's Thing Maker complete with plastic goop. I spent hours making scary bugs and monsters. You would never see a toy like that today, because the heating element could give you a wicked burn. In spite of that, I managed to survive childhood.

1 pointHere is another good piece that I found today written by a (former) escort. Belle Du Jour/Dr Brooke Magnanti, known to many as the lady behind "The Secret Diary of a Call Girl" tv show, books, blog, etc. This one also mentions Germany and the Amsterdam way of dealing with prostitution, which is often mentioned by both sides of the debate. 1 pointI Agee I don't think an RMT would do this and risk loosing her licence. There is another angle to consider. A RMT massage with a happy ending (if you could find one) is no longer a benefit in the eyes of the insurance company. In fact it's insurance fraud. Would a insurance company take you to court? Most likely not. However lets say it was 12 times a year over 3 years then it might be worth it. Another option for the insurance company, is that they can disallow all past and future claims. Not just massage claims but dental and health etc. And if the coverage is from your employer or SO, the insurance company could inform the employer. And fraud is grounds for dismissal from your job. Part of the bigger picture to think about . On a happier note: If it's just a fantasy. George has a great idea. Ask a MP or SP to role play this for you. I am sure lots of them would be into it. White lab coat with special uniform under it. She could get you to fill out the new client form. Write down all the areas that need special attention. She could act all shocked at first and "she never does this", "your the only one she has ever done this for" ..... Lots of fun!

1 pointThey haven't found the law illegal. They've found the existing laws inconsistent and unreasonable; given that the exchange of sex for money is legal, the SCC has ruled that the current restrictions around that are unreasonable. The reason the SCC hasn't struck down the laws immediately is that there are three ways Parliament could go to resolve this. First, they could do nothing and allow sex work to become much more legal in future (which, realistically, means leaving it up to provinces and municipalities to regulate); secondly, they could outlaw prostitution entirely (in which case that fact that other laws make it more difficult ceases to be an issue), or thirdly they could come up with an entirely new set of laws. Irrespective of the relative merits of those three options, the decision between them is the prerogative of the legislative branch of government, not the judiciary. What the judiciary has done - and IMO is entirely correct to have done - is to give the legislative branch a serious boot up the ass and force them to consider the issue, while also allowing them time to give the issue due consideration.

1 pointAlthough, I do look at some pics my general view has been and still is to enjoy them but take them with a grain of salt. I fully agree with some of the other posters that a ladies pic's can serve to convey some of their personality and style. However, I don't care how good the pics look if the lady can't put two good words together in her posts, ads or communications with me I'm out.

1 pointThe SCC ruling on Bedford was a long time coming. Everyone who had a hand in this outcome deserve our thanks, and have earned at least this day to pause and celebrate it. But to paraphrase a number of comments in this thread, only this battle has been won. The war, however, goes on. The whole matter is incredibly divisive; the views of the far right and the far left will never reconcile. With the Harper Government, it's not hard to imagine how they're scheming about how to leverage the emotional response to prostitution and this SCC ruling, and use it as a wedge issue in the next election. After all, anything sex plays waay more sensationally in the media than mere matters of truth, lies and fraud in e.g. the Senate. Let's remember also that the Tories won a majority government despite receiving a minority of the popular vote! So it shouldn't surprise anyone that as a wedge issue, it could suit Harper's purposes to return to power just fine. The key to winning over the SCC was all about being rational. For the first time ever, Canada is recognizing prostitutes as people who have a constitutional right to life, liberty and security, just like the rest of us. Let's not lose sight of that, and going forward, I encourage everyone to do their part to make sure that others don't lose sight of that either.

1 pointI had the chance to visit with Lyka last evening and it was a very fun time. When she opened the door to her very private upscale suite I was very glad I'd made plans to see her. She is even more beautiful than her photos suggested. She was dressed in a sexy fishnet dress and heels and after a welcome hug and kiss I stepped back to catch my breath. Our time together was a lot of fun. I have to say Lyka is a gifted kisser and very talented with her hands She provided a very relaxing massage that was heavenly. This was her first visit to the area, but hopefully not her last.

1 pointTo get the level of tinting assessed go to a shop that does tinting. Off-hand I can't remember the allowable percentages but there are different levels for front, driver and rear windows. Both Ontario and Quebec regulate this. We had to have a new car retinted because the kid messed up on the driver's window. By the way, most likely the windows were not really why you got stopped. Actually he wanted to smell your breath. The holiday season and all. I got stopped at 2 am the othet morning. He leaned real close and asked me where I was coming from. Told him the airport and showed him the Greet sign and he said I was good to go. No license or registration check or anything. As I drove away it occurred to me what caught his attention was that I was doing exactly 50 in a 50 zone. Usually only drinking drivers do that. :-)

1 pointNot to mention that it's much easier to figure out the personality of a dancer by yourself just by talking to her in the club. You'll know right away if you click or not. But guys looking for high mileage can't know just by looking at a girl, or even by talking to her. They don't have a sign on their forehead saying what they do or don't do. Since it's not as obvious, those who want to know, need to talk about it on boards like this one. But, from my experience, the girls who make the most money aren't necessarily those with the most mileage but those who have a nice personality, are not fake, and are genuinely trying to please you, while having fun themselves in this job. What really matters is not as much what you do, but how you do it. That being said, I've noticed that the girls who consistently make the very most money, well... they both do a lot and do it well. I guess they figured how to optimize their earnings to the max.

1 pointThe downside of using face pics can be seen here: http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=160542 re: face pics, as in the above link. What is to stop an unscrupulous guy from booking an appointment with this sp he knows, and then go about either blatantly or subtley blackmailing her for free time, discounts, or extra services. What is to stop him from exposing her to mutual friends if she refuses him as a client, or puts her foot down if he gets pushy. When sps started posting advertisements, it was 3 lines in a newspaper column. Then some photos were used, often by mps using stock photography in ads or in the yellow pages. Then the internet came along, and the traditional sps still did not put pictures in their ads, and the ones with pictures tended to be BS anyway. \\ Now the online ad with 3 to 5 pics is 'insufficient'. 10% of anyone enquiring asks if there are more pics. for what? 5 pics showing a variety of angles, what more is needed? OH, FACE pictures, of course, my bad. lol. Sps are already being pestered for videos, live face to face online chats, and endless emails, messages and texting. And I remind you, that the majority of guys managed to call sps, book appointments and have terrifically great times, based on a 3 line ad in a newspaper, with not one single picture. For anyone who felt that was too much uncertainty, they went to massage parlours where they could see and meet the sps prior to choosing someone to spend time with. Where is this demand from clients, the carrots dangling in front of the new sps who don't know what will be a good idea 2 years or 10 years down the road take them? That they refuse to book or consider sps who won't use face pics? Really? I don't know, but to me, that just seems really pushy. The limits of this work, and the advertising included, has already been pushed really far. low rates are pushed for, high risk services are pushed for, and now the sp can't even leave the privacy of her home without the idea that someone somewhere has seen her online ad with the nudity and provocative poses, but never contacted or seen her in person, but they know her general location and what she looks like. In the past if someone collected an address and no showed, the sp still had the reassurance that even tho he knew where she was, he still didn't know exactly what she looked like. She could leave thinking that even if he sat out there for 5 hours waiting for her to come out, to follow her, or see what she was driving, or whatever, good luck with that because at least he didn't know what her face looked like!

1 pointI was going to pm, but I think it is more helpful to the board if dont.I don't mean Any disrespect by not doing so. I think this board is an excellent source for information on whatever it is that you seek. And if you are fortunate enough to have an account you can speak with the specific lady you wish to see to ask directly on what fees are to be expected. Some ladies have non- negotiable rates. And I think it would be unfair to say that a spa or specific lady is not " up-scale" if she chooses not to state the rates as an inclusive amount. It can be stated however one see fit. At any spa, a portion of the fee goes to the " house " whether it's paid up front, or as an inclusive rate. If a lady choose to charge anything beyond that that means she's offing something that is not typical and yes, in that case I agree that it can be quite confusing because some people don't come with the expectations if anything other than a massage and a hj. And please don't be discouraged to go any particular spa, or see a particular lady jake_cdn or anyone else for that matter. There are many great ladies everywhere. Keep it rosey and cheers.

1 pointThere seems to be a common misunderstanding that massage parlours offering hand jobs/happy endings are not providing prostitution services and therefore are not classified as "common bawdy houses" under the prostitution laws of the Criminal Code of Canada. The following comments illustrate this point of view. "Note however, that in some places (like Ottawa) some massage parlors are licensed by the City and thus have a permit to operate, as long as they only go so far (ie no oral or FS)." "You cannot get "full service" at a massage parlor, that would be illegal." "... to Offer BJ or FS to the gentlemen... this would make the spa a brothel which are clearly illegal..." Since many cities license erotic massage parlours/body rubs, and everyone knows what goes on inside them, it's understandable that this would lead to the mistaken belief that everything is legal. A hand job is a sexual service. Providing sexual services for money is prostitution. Any location where prostitution commonly occurs is a common bawdy house. Therefore massage parlours commonly providing hand jobs... are providing sexual services... and therefore are engaged in prostitution... and therefore the massage parlour is a common bawdy house. There's a legal distinction made between "erotic" services and "sexual" services. (I know, I know... it's a fine line ;-) ) Municipalities can regulate "erotic" services through zoning and licensing. These include strip clubs, adult video stores and massage parlours for example. They can't authorize "bawdy houses" since the Federal Criminal Code of Canada prohibits them. Another way to understand this is that a lower level of government can't adopt laws which are inconsistent with those of a higher level of government. This is a basic principle of constututional law. Therefore a municipal massage parlour license can't authorize a massage parlour to provide sexual services, including hand jobs, because that would make it a "bawdy house" and bawdy houses are illegal under Federal law. As stated in a Library of Parliament Research Publication on prostitution, "... municipalities walk a fine line between federal and municipal/provincial jurisdiction and must be careful not to take any measures that might deal with actual prostitution. Part of this balancing act consists in maintaining the illusion that escort services and massage and adult entertainment parlours are not fronts for prostitution-related activities." As for why massage parlours don't get busted, it's for basically the same reasons that the police look the other way with most indoor prostitution. If you operate discretely and the neighbours aren't disturbed, the police aren't going to go looking for trouble. They've got plenty of other crimes to investigate where there are real victims. This includes prostitution where there is real and obvious harm being done such as underage prostitution, violent pimps, and foreign sex workers who are trapped without their passports. Since it is so rare for police to bust a massage parlour, this gives the impression that they are all legal. But, they do get busted occasionally, so what causes the police to take action in a very few cases and look the other way in the majority of cases? I've attached a few links to news stories about massage parlours that were busted. These were all in inappropriate locations that drew complaints (next to daycares, ground floor of a condo). There are of course other examples of massage parlours being busted. These usually involve foreign women working in massage parlours who are being victimized or under aged girls. It's not my intent to scare either massage attendants or clients with this information. Clearly the vast majority of massage parlours generally operate without any problem. I do however think that we should all be knowledgable about prostitution law (and sexual health information) so that we can assess the risk of our activities. Avoiding massage parlours which are likely to draw complaints from neighbours is a simple step to take. The upcoming Supreme Court of Canada decision on prostitution laws will likely affect the current legal status of massage parlours as bawdy houses. So if you work in or frequent a massage parlour, you should be interested in the outcome of that case. http://metronews.ca/news/calgary/839283/inside-a-calgary-bawdy-house-evidence-of-happenings-at-massage-parlour-found-online/ http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/massage-parlour-busted-in-residential-building-1.1240820 http://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/police-lay-prostitution-charges-at-gatineau-bawdy-house-1.574116 One final point. When massage attendants and clients discuss sexual services/price in the private massage room of a massage parlour this is not considered public solicitation. The private massage room has the same status as a hotel room. It's a private space, not a public space.
