There seems to be a lot of people missing the point. Yes, the Supreme court invalidated three parts of the Criminal Code dealing with Prostitution. So in one year, all things remaining equal, living off the avails, communicating for the purpose, and the bawdy house laws will no longer be valid. In practice I think you will be hard pressed to find any charges being laid under those three sections in the next year. But.... (and it is a big but), that is only if our current laws stay the same. Right now prostitution is legal in this country, and the ruling was made because those three laws were inconsistent with that fact and endangered people pursuing a legal means of work. If the Nordic model, or any other model comes in to effect, that makes exchanging money for sex illegal then all that hard work becomes moot. Brothels won't be legal, because selling sex will be illegal. All this will have been for nought. And stop blaming it all on Harper. He is only one part of this equation, and quite frankly I think he would rather avoid the debate. It is a politicial minefield. Start looking at the ridiculous and completely outrageous statements being made by people like the Elizabeth Fry Society, The Coalition for Abolition of Prostitution etc. etc. They are going to get the press, they are going to be exploiting others to get their point across. And it is not all right wing, nor left wing. It is just not church groups etc. It is a broad spectrum of people who want to criminalize prostitution, and they have a lot of tools to make their point. Target the right people, stop donating or working with groups that support criminalization. Speak out, and challenge the nonsense that we are already hearing, and are only going to hear more of in the coming months. Don't give the media ammunition. Yeah a hard fought battle was won on Friday, but it is going to be a long and bloody war.

The Nordic model cannot be what replaces our current laws. The SCC struck down these three provisions because they infringed upon the safety and security of workers in a legal business. Implementing the Nordic model would be like telling construction workers they can do their jobs, but anyone purchasing the services of a construction worker could be arrested. Criminalizing clients does nothing to address the dangers faced by workers; in fact, it would likely increase these risks as criminalized clients would not likely be willing to undergo screening. So if the Nordic model is implemented, it will be appealed under the same reasons, and likely be struck down under the same reasons. "Feminists" (read: abolitionists) who want to "save the women and punish the pimps/johns" ignores the fact that there are men and trans* people who are workers, and there are women and trans* people who are clients. Criminalizing clients is not the way to go. We as workers do not want this. As to this talk of workers who are being pimped/exploited/against their will -- we have laws against human trafficking and forcible confinement and exploitation of minors. We do not need laws specific to sex work addressing these issues because we already have laws against them. There are plenty of other employments where workers are trafficked or exploited, and we do not have laws specific to those employments (domestic care/services being a big one).

You may very well be right ... although I'm not completely convinced. I'm not sure the cat burglar analogy works completely, because that situation does not involve a consensual transaction. In the nordic model you are criminalizing one half of a transaction; the purchase, but not the sale. If doing that puts the seller at risk then that clearly is a matter of concern and might fall afoul of the Bedford principles. Historically the court doesn't like doing things indirectly rather than directly. In other words, if criminalizing prostitution wouldn't pass charter scrutiny, why should criminalizing "parts" of it, when the intention of that partial criminalization is to prohibit the whole thing. This is, it seems to me, at the heart of the Bedford decision. The problem with the burglar analogy, is that you criminalize burglary, there aren't people out there actually wanting to be burgled. You criminalize the purchase of sex, there are people wanting to sell that service. I haven't had my morning coffee, so none of that might make any sense whatsoever. Cheers, Porthos

I was privileged to to partake in some of the Christmas activities at the Fat Bastard Compound. Old Dog and Phaedrus managed to get the tree up. Notch did his community service in the town's local Christmas parade: Lee drove in from Manitoba with his decorated truck - the added bonus hopefully to scare off the deer and moose he occasionally comes into contact with. Roaming Guy managed to get all the gift packages ready for ladies.

My mother is dealing with cancer for the third time in her life. The first time was cervical cancer in the late 70's; The second time was breast cancer last year; and now she has bone cancer. She will will be spending the holidays in the hospital. In January she will be going to a long term care facility.

Thank you so much for your perspective. It's is always valuable to here the thoughts and perspectives of courtesans and agencies. There are currently a number of agencies sending courtesans to Halifax on a regular bases. Maybe, one day, we will be lucky enough to have your agency on that list.

Most years I write a tale for the holiday season, and this year is no exception. I hope you folks enjoy it. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and all my best wishes for your holidays no matter what beliefs you hold. bb ........................................................................................................................-- The snow crunched underneath my boots and my breath trailed behind me as I walked away from my car. It's only a short walk over to her place. The time will give me a few minutes to relax and burn off a little nervous energy before I see her. I pull my gloves on and turn my collar up against the cold. It's always an occasion to see her. It's almost like the first time, every time. I chuckled to myself. I guess it is the first time, every time, for her. I got my first inkling of that, that very first time I saw her. She asked me what I'd like to wear, and I'd asked for an outfit out of the few that she suggested. I got there and she was running a little late, the time had gotten away from her. When I walked through her door, she wore a sexy outfit that I definitely appreciated, but it wasn't what we talked about. But no matter, clothes are just the wrapping on the present. I kissed her then. Softly, sensually. I slipped my fingers behind her and caressed the back of her neck. She breathed deeply and luxuriated in our kiss before pulling away and looking at me in wonder. She does this every time. I kiss her and she always looks at me with surprise, that I know exactly how she likes to be kissed. Why, I should know by now. She always asks me how I am, how my day went, in the light conversation of strangers. And though I actually know quite a bit about her by now, I don't let on because I don't want to make her feel uneasy. She never recalls that she's told me about her life, her mother, her little dog from when she was 12. No, I'm a stranger to her every time. But I like to think I'm a wonderful stranger every time. I guess it's true that she never really remembers what I like most, and that's too bad. But I know just what she likes, and I serve it up wrapped in the mystery that only a complete stranger can provide. We are reborn every time I cross her threshold. She gives her all to me every time. She truly lives in the moment, and lives and loves like there's no tomorrow. That's what keeps me coming back. Yet she always looks up at me in amazement and wonder, that I can satisfy her like I know just what she wants. We'll talk about the outfit she'll wear for me next time, the naughty things we'll do when I come by next. I just smile and nod. Because, you never know. These things just might happen, if only by chance. I'll leave her bed today, and she'll ask me misty-eyed if I would come by again. And I always say yes, and for only a moment I'll give myself the luxury of hoping that she'll remember me. I guess maybe she does remember me, just a little, on some level. Because she's always there, ready and on time. She never passes up a chance to have me come by and she never forgets our dates, even if I know she doesn't really know why she does. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise to her. She'll never remember the rude, the cruel. She'll never remember the smelly, the unpleasant. But unfortunately, it also means she never really remembers me. I reach into my coat pocket, and feel the small box wrapped in red and green sparkly paper. It's just a little something for her, from one of those trendy shops in the Village. It's a necklace with a little bird pendant. It's just a little bauble in my namesake. The bird holds a tiny gem in its beak, and the gem is in her favorite color. I know she'll ask me how I know it's exactly what she likes, and I'll just shrug and smile. I'll let her unwrap my gift, and then I'll put the necklace on her. Perhaps she'll touch it or see it in the mirror later, and remember me. Perhaps. I'm almost at her door. I see children playing, and I glance over to listen to their laughter. They're making snow angels. I smile at the sight, and keep walking. I'm going to meet a snow angel of my own, soon. We'll frolic, laugh, have fun. In our spirits, we'll make our mark in the snow, echoes of the heaven that we glimpse. And I'll get up and leave, and our figurative angels will fill in and drift over. Our impressions in time and memory will be quickly lost, under a blank slate of pure white. I'll be forgotten all too soon, not long after I leave. But she'll remember me just enough to make it to our date, the next time. And knowing that is her gift to me. My footsteps crunch as I walk up to her door and knock.

Twas the night before Christmas, his wife gone to bed, while visions of ladies still danced in his head. Shopping completed, he'd worked like an elf, Presents galore for all but himself. But he'd been a good boy for most of the year, And knew he had earned some holiday cheer. So he opened his laptop and kept it discreet, Then started the search for his own Yuletide treat. CERB dot ca was his best Christmas guide, Which beauty to meet all that's left to decide. With pages of ladies that beat any toy, Reco's from Jabba, Notch and Cowboy... You'd think a to-do-list would some day get done But instead it keeps growing one after one. Rebbeca or Jessica...Emily J? Sweet Sami or Mia for an evening of play? Then there's Cleo and Kathryn, two of the best, Of course not forgetting Jessy Celeste. Cute aza Button, SP or MA... An hour of pleasure's a phone call away. So with homework complete and a grin ear to ear, He proceeded to dial his gift for the year. "Come down through my chimney, but don't make a sound, We'll have to quiet there's someone around." Then hanging his phone he sat with delight, And imagined the things he'd be doing tonight. When lickety-split as agreed on the matter, From the roof top there came a small pitter patter. In stockings and garters she made her way through, And stuck a long leg from the fireplace flu. Then squeezing the rest of her through that tight space, She arrived at the man's with the grin on his face. "You're just what I wished for...an angel in Body, let's make our way on to the list of the naughty" So quickly they reached a state of undress, Then she straddled his lap and took charge of the rest. When almost he entered her heavenly place, His eyes caught the sight of a family face. A girl on his lap, his wife now standing by, He knew it was time to make up a lie... "My dearest! You missed him! You just missed Saint Nick!" (He thought up his lie, and he thought it up quick) "Look what he brought us...he thought it'd be fair, To bring us this wonderful gift we could share." "After all the unwrapping I read the instructions, And was just going to call you for your introduction" His wife stood there puzzled and then asked her guy... "How'd you think Santa had known I was bi?" "This secret I've kept since my days back in college, And nobody knew to the best of my knowledge... ...There must be a Santa I truly believe! cause look what he brought us on this Christmas Eve!" "I don't mean to be selfish, may I try her first? I think she will quench my bi-sexual thirst." So the husband stood by for a show quite devine, With his wife and the lady discovered online. And when it was over he stumbled to bed, With a vision he'll never get out of his head. And the lesson he learned after all that he'd done? ...Don't tell the truth if lies are such fun. Merry Christmas

In light of the Supreme Court's reasoning, I don't think the Nordic Model is an option for Canada any more. It may be a political option, and many groups are advocating for it. In addition it superficially seems like a reasonable compromise to many people who don't know anything about the business. It is also appealing to people who just want to just "pull a solution off the shelf" and apply it without any thought. However, I don't think it will pass the standards which the Supreme Court has set. If the Nordic Model is used as the basis for new prostitution laws in Canada, the Supreme Court will likely strike them down too. The underlying reasoning running through the Supreme Court's decision for throwing out the current prostitution laws is twofold. First, prostitution is legal and secondly, the current prostitution laws put sex workers at unreasonable risk of harm, especially street prostitutes. Under the Nordic Model it is still legal to sell sexual services and sex workers would still be exposed to all of the same unreasonable risks as the current prostitution laws, especially those working in street prostitution. If it becomes illegal to buy sexual services, it follows that sex workers can't have safe locations to provide the services such as brothels because clients can't go there. In addition it also follows that communication/screening, especially for street prostitutes, will have to be quick and cursory, (just as it is now) because their clients will be at risk of being charged. That continues to put sex worker's safety at risk. Adopting the Nordic model just puts us back where we are now. It has the same flaws that at least two of the current prostitution laws (prohibiting brothels and public solicitation/communication) have.

Yeah, strangely enough I had two colleagues die of heart attacks this year alone -- one while away on a business trip, and one while getting ready to come into work in the morning for a meeting. Both times, in addition to being sad 'n stuff, I thought: wow, their jobs had 'em right to their very last minute. Saddest thing ever. I promised myself I wouldn't go the same way. I agree. I don't really understand why, if the laws are deemed unconstitutional, as they have been, that they would give a stay of one year. It's basically saying: yes, we have determined that your constitutional rights are being broken, but we are allowing it to continue. Even the Federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay said himself: "A number of other Criminal Code provisions remain in place to protect those engaged in prostitution and other vulnerable persons, and to address the negative effects prostitution has on communities." He basically means that laws prohibiting violence & abuse, exploitation, slavery, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, rape, sex with a minor, coercion, trafficking, public nuisance, and commercial zoning laws are all still in place. That said, then what is the real purpose of keeping these other unconstitutional laws in place for another year? How is it not unconstitutional to keep unconstitutional laws in effect? There is a few reasons that come to mind. None of which I would condone.

Yes, smelling good means using soap and water in the naughty bits and 'behind' them lol. If you aren't sure, then wash it again! RE: size, you do not sound like someone who needs to worry about your size being an issue. 35 is nothing. For myself, providing massage is a pleasure. But it is really difficult to do on someone who literally feels like just skin on top of bones. Since i am taking the time to do the massage, I like a bit more cushion and a bit more square footage to cover lol. Also, guys who are not media's image of perfect make sps like me who are also not perfect more at ease. I think we feel that shape of guy is going to be less judgmental about our shape and size. And age. :)

I Agee I don't think an RMT would do this and risk loosing her licence. There is another angle to consider. A RMT massage with a happy ending (if you could find one) is no longer a benefit in the eyes of the insurance company. In fact it's insurance fraud. Would a insurance company take you to court? Most likely not. However lets say it was 12 times a year over 3 years then it might be worth it. Another option for the insurance company, is that they can disallow all past and future claims. Not just massage claims but dental and health etc. And if the coverage is from your employer or SO, the insurance company could inform the employer. And fraud is grounds for dismissal from your job. Part of the bigger picture to think about . On a happier note: If it's just a fantasy. George has a great idea. Ask a MP or SP to role play this for you. I am sure lots of them would be into it. White lab coat with special uniform under it. She could get you to fill out the new client form. Write down all the areas that need special attention. She could act all shocked at first and "she never does this", "your the only one she has ever done this for" ..... Lots of fun!

They haven't found the law illegal. They've found the existing laws inconsistent and unreasonable; given that the exchange of sex for money is legal, the SCC has ruled that the current restrictions around that are unreasonable. The reason the SCC hasn't struck down the laws immediately is that there are three ways Parliament could go to resolve this. First, they could do nothing and allow sex work to become much more legal in future (which, realistically, means leaving it up to provinces and municipalities to regulate); secondly, they could outlaw prostitution entirely (in which case that fact that other laws make it more difficult ceases to be an issue), or thirdly they could come up with an entirely new set of laws. Irrespective of the relative merits of those three options, the decision between them is the prerogative of the legislative branch of government, not the judiciary. What the judiciary has done - and IMO is entirely correct to have done - is to give the legislative branch a serious boot up the ass and force them to consider the issue, while also allowing them time to give the issue due consideration.

Well we got what most hoped for, but I am not sure anyone can say what it will mean. There is a purported Chinese curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." Regardless of the debatable origin of the phrase, it rings true and we we are about to enter a period of interesting times. The example of 'what Harper and his cronies will do" is not something that concerns me. Their position is that prostitution is wrong and immoral, anti-Christian if that suits. But Harper has clearly shown that his personal beliefs are not something that he will force into law in a direct means. Despite the fact that he is anti-abortion, he gives folks in his caucus a smack-down if they bring the issue up. Most of the rabble-rousing in this area comes from the back-benches where as Prime Minister, but more importantly as party leader, he has less influence/leverage to keep them individuals muzzled. He recognizes that there is no way to "win" the argument, so he will avoid it as best he can. Regardless, if you think they can draft, and get a bill of that magnitude and impact into law by one year from now you then really don't watch politics much. This is going to be a long debate, and I think they will try and avoid it, particularly as we are heading to an election in a year or so. If you are looking right to find the loudest and most dangerous opposition to legalizing sex-work then you are looking the wrong way. Turn your head 180, and look left. This is where the strongest proponents of the Nordic model are coming from. They don't look at prostitution as being wrong in a moral or religious sense, they see it as wrong in a sense of exploitation. That is why we see "ex-sex workers", radical feminists, etc, all purporting that sex work is exploitation. These are the ones that have the ear of the press, they are the ones who are going to pull out the emotional arguments and find all the exploited victims. They are the activists who already have the machinery behind them to put the argument in place. The victims make much better press, and the media in this country are much bigger whores than anyone we would find on this board. Harper and his guys are going to be looked at as putting forth the moral/religious argument, which these days has little traction overall in this country. Most folks didn't vote for him for his religious convictions despite what many would think. The one argument that is going to get traction in the media is the exploitation angle. It makes much better press. Just watch what the Toronto Star and Globe start printing in the next few days. We are about to enter a period of very interesting times.

The other thing I've been hearing today is talk around invoking the Nordic model, which would have the effect of criminalizing the client. What I don't particularly understand is this: Would not the Nordic model simply put the shoe on the other foot as it were, and still do nothing to resolve issues surrounding the safety of SPs? I don't see how this would be an acceptable solution bearing in mind the court's decision. Secondly, would not making prostitution illegal decrease safety levels for the ladies? In the States, the industry is thriving underground - undoubtedly, it would not simply cease to exist in Canada, either. Furthermore, on what grounds could the government make it illegal? The courts are not in the business of legislating morality, yet this appears to be the framework around which Conservative ideology is based.

I would like to thank everyone for the positive feedback. The response from members is what makes ita very good event and its great to have a huge turn out. Also it really helps us in getting the night off to a great start when all make the effort to buy their tickets in advance. Again we sold out by our set deadline which is essential for covering all expenses. To the ladies once again response was great and we filled all places early. Sorry for those who could not make it due to last minute personal situations. Thanks for getting in touch and letting us know. Special thanks again to ALO and CMJ for their very generous door prizes contribution. We truly appreciate your generosity! We also had contributions from some members which added to ladies door prizes. Would like to wish everyone happy holidays. Be safe if you are travelling, hopefully we will get a break from snow soon. Looking forward to our next social on March 20th!

I was going to pm, but I think it is more helpful to the board if dont.I don't mean Any disrespect by not doing so. I think this board is an excellent source for information on whatever it is that you seek. And if you are fortunate enough to have an account you can speak with the specific lady you wish to see to ask directly on what fees are to be expected. Some ladies have non- negotiable rates. And I think it would be unfair to say that a spa or specific lady is not " up-scale" if she chooses not to state the rates as an inclusive amount. It can be stated however one see fit. At any spa, a portion of the fee goes to the " house " whether it's paid up front, or as an inclusive rate. If a lady choose to charge anything beyond that that means she's offing something that is not typical and yes, in that case I agree that it can be quite confusing because some people don't come with the expectations if anything other than a massage and a hj. And please don't be discouraged to go any particular spa, or see a particular lady jake_cdn or anyone else for that matter. There are many great ladies everywhere. Keep it rosey and cheers.

Hi Jake.. This thread I beieve has miost of the info you are looking for... http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=148646 Just in case here is answer to each of your individual question... Are private appointments different from appointments in a business environment? A: Service will even be different within the same business as all MAs have their own style, personality.., likes and dislikes so you cant even break service from business like to indipendent,.. as MAs are individuals and everyone is different... Is it rude to ask about the fees beforehand? A: No it is not rude to ask for fees in advanced.. You will find that when you contact a business they may not mention the tipping options... again they can range between 60$-120$... Independents usually will provide you with all inclusive fees and packages... but Also ladies in Spas (i will include myself) can provide you with All inclusive packages and when you compare them It will come to being similar... pretty much the same... the only difference is when you go to an independent she does not have to pay a door fee but some portion will cover rent and other expenses that help run her business... Ladies at a Spa have a set door fee that varies between 40 and 80 depending on the length of the session.... I know that the fees are not to be discussed at the door but can they be determined before going in? A: say you decide to show up as a walkin at a Parlour..., the lady may invite you in the room and you can have a chat about the fees... even before you decide to stay or not... again depending on the level of service you are looking for you are looking between 60$ and 120$... on top of the door fee... I know that the fees are not to be discussed at the door but can they be determined before going in? A: I cant really answer that question.. all I can say is.. there is lots of ladies here on Cerb that may work out of a Spa BUT they book their appointments on their own same as an independent will ... My suggestion is check out what ladies interest you... and if she is part of a spa and dont have a way fo contacting her directly aside from the spa number... talk to the managers they most likely will be able to answer most questions... dont be afraid... Hope this helped....
