Charlotte made a great point on this other thread today that I want to give more attention here too. Post SCC ruling, Canada will be making a decision on what direction we will be going next. The SexSafetySecurity survey is a great way for clients to discreetly have their voice's heard about your thoughts, feelings and experiences. It's even more important now for people to know that clients are generally good people, and are just average Canadians! This is a perfect way to get the word out! "We believe that the generalizations that groups seeking the abolition of prostitution make about the attitudes, beliefs and behaviours of ALL people who pay for sexual services in Canada are based on moral convictions and speculation as opposed to actual evidence. In our ongoing effort to present a more complete and accurate picture of the diversity of attitudes, beliefs and experiences of people who have paid for sexual services in Canada we are inviting you to be a part of the largest and most ambitious study of Canada's sex industry undertaken to date. The Sex, Safety and Security Study, which is part of a larger research initiative funded the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), seeks to provide a safe, secure and nonjudgmental environment for people who have purchased sexual services to have your voices heard and respected and the details of your experiences acknowledged." Visit the website to learn more! You can even do it online! Go! The deadline is January 15, so don't procrastinate! http://www.sexsafetysecurity.ca

Censoring Cunnilingus in Film By Carlin Ross http://dodsonandross.com/blogs/carlin-ross/2013/12/censoring-cunnilingus-film

The Nordic model cannot be what replaces our current laws. The SCC struck down these three provisions because they infringed upon the safety and security of workers in a legal business. Implementing the Nordic model would be like telling construction workers they can do their jobs, but anyone purchasing the services of a construction worker could be arrested. Criminalizing clients does nothing to address the dangers faced by workers; in fact, it would likely increase these risks as criminalized clients would not likely be willing to undergo screening. So if the Nordic model is implemented, it will be appealed under the same reasons, and likely be struck down under the same reasons. "Feminists" (read: abolitionists) who want to "save the women and punish the pimps/johns" ignores the fact that there are men and trans* people who are workers, and there are women and trans* people who are clients. Criminalizing clients is not the way to go. We as workers do not want this. As to this talk of workers who are being pimped/exploited/against their will -- we have laws against human trafficking and forcible confinement and exploitation of minors. We do not need laws specific to sex work addressing these issues because we already have laws against them. There are plenty of other employments where workers are trafficked or exploited, and we do not have laws specific to those employments (domestic care/services being a big one).

Have you ever heard the phrase "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."? That pretty much sums up why I haven't chimed in. I simply don't know enough about the laws and legalities or most likely step the government will take to add anything to what others have been saying. I'd be posting just to hear myself speak...er...type. Like PistolPete (and I'm sure many others) I'm certainly very interested and am appreciative of the varied points and articles that others have been sharing. It's been a help and I hope it continues. As for those "nonsense threads", this issue isn't going to solve itself over night. That seems to be the one thing that everyone agrees on! It's unrealistic to expect the rest of the board to shutdown until it does, or to imagine that people can't still have some lighthearted fun even with such uncertainly going on. Indeed, if anything it's when people are worried about the future that sometimes they need a bit of silly. :) Anyway, I don't want to distract from the thread - just clarify that silence does not mean disinterest and I'll certainly continue to follow the conversation and appreciate those sharing their own ideas and information.

Many years ago I resolved not to make any more New Years Resolutions. So far it is the only resolution I have managed to keep. However, I do make plans for the New Year. I plan to eat more veggies. I plan to go someplace warm in March. I plan to continue seeing my favourites and to meet some new faces. Most of all I plan to enjoy myself, cause if I don't, then what's the point?

I try to avoid New Year's resolutions. I have enough problems, without setting myself up for failure. This year, though, i could resolve to drink more, and have more encounters with CERB ladies. That would be easier to keep than the resolutions about going to the bloody gym. Porthos

Read "Wheat Belly" for starters. Don't go "on a diet", as if it is a 12 week program that will transform you. Change your LIFE. Diet and exercise is every day, forever. Don't try to follow some weird diet or intense elite-level training routine. Make a plan you can follow and track it in a journal. I had a scare a while ago...and adopted a fairly easy beginner routine. Some weeks I would lose a pound, sometimes nothing. But two years later I am down fifty pounds. Consistency is everything. Strangely, my arms have gone from 18" to barely 17" but people say they look way bigger.

There seems to be a lot of people missing the point. Yes, the Supreme court invalidated three parts of the Criminal Code dealing with Prostitution. So in one year, all things remaining equal, living off the avails, communicating for the purpose, and the bawdy house laws will no longer be valid. In practice I think you will be hard pressed to find any charges being laid under those three sections in the next year. But.... (and it is a big but), that is only if our current laws stay the same. Right now prostitution is legal in this country, and the ruling was made because those three laws were inconsistent with that fact and endangered people pursuing a legal means of work. If the Nordic model, or any other model comes in to effect, that makes exchanging money for sex illegal then all that hard work becomes moot. Brothels won't be legal, because selling sex will be illegal. All this will have been for nought. And stop blaming it all on Harper. He is only one part of this equation, and quite frankly I think he would rather avoid the debate. It is a politicial minefield. Start looking at the ridiculous and completely outrageous statements being made by people like the Elizabeth Fry Society, The Coalition for Abolition of Prostitution etc. etc. They are going to get the press, they are going to be exploiting others to get their point across. And it is not all right wing, nor left wing. It is just not church groups etc. It is a broad spectrum of people who want to criminalize prostitution, and they have a lot of tools to make their point. Target the right people, stop donating or working with groups that support criminalization. Speak out, and challenge the nonsense that we are already hearing, and are only going to hear more of in the coming months. Don't give the media ammunition. Yeah a hard fought battle was won on Friday, but it is going to be a long and bloody war.

Hi. I'm not sure if people are interested, but I know many of you have tried many diet plans. Wanted to get your opinions on the ones you've tried. Describe it and whether it worked or not. Whether you recommend it or not. To start, I've tried the Atkins Diet. This is a very low carb diet that encourages eating meat, fat and vegetables. Bacon is allowed on this diet. Very little carbs are allowed on this diet. Does it work. Yes it does work, weight loss is very fast. but it's hard to stay on, takes a lot of discipline not to eat carbs, ie. bread, grains, cereals, deserts etc. It can get tiring tot eat meat, bacon, eggs and just vegetables with very little starch. But you can loose a great deal of weight very rapidly if you can stick to it. But once you go back to eating regular food again, the weight comes back. Now lets here your experiences ?

I really don't why it took me so long to visit Vibe spa in the east end, and I'm glad I finally visited their facility, and of course booked with the very sexy Dannika. Firstly the Spa, is so well decorated inside, the room Dannika I had used for our 90 minute session is big, immaculate, and I'm sure the other spa rooms are the same, modern, upbeat, beautiful facilty with music, candles in the room, large shower for 2, plenty of towels, lots of hooks for clothes and of course lots of space with the long massage table and leather couch. So I tip my hat to the owners of Vibe spa, it is class place with great ambience. My session with Dannika, was a very slow and long 90 minutes session with her, where we chatted, got caught up in things, and of course the lovely massage. Dannika has that type of body I enjoy,a beautiful bum, strong upper shoulders and back, with strong legs, and smile I like to look at, she has a great personality too. We enjoyed each others company, touching and teasing with just the right amount of erotic play to lead to a very explosive finish for me. We finished off in the shower together, and having her wash off all the oil off me with a face cloth, was a nice touch, so I returned the favour, we spent some good time in the shower getting each other clean. :) It was great to reconnect with Dannika, and visit her at Vibe Spa, so much that I think the next time I'm in the east end again, I will visit again, that is a certainty. Thanks Dannika, you rocked my Monday and got the week off to a great start.

I know for me, don't know so much as a resolution, as continuing my diet and exercise (walking) routine. And 2014 will see me partaking more in this lifestyle than this year (god am I glad 2013 is ending). Not only reconnecting with some ladies I already know, but making new connections with ladies I have yet to meet. I envision trips to Ottawa and Toronto, maybe Kingston too ;-) But other than that, basically I'm going to be doing the same as before, in fact if a couple curves hadn't been thrown at me and the family this year, I likely would have done these this year RG

I would get into the discussion, but to be quite honest, there is a lot information to read and interpret, especially laws, for me to get into this discussion. I am however getting some great intel from links provided in news section and as well threads in the general section. As oppose to coming out and commenting on an issue, without knowing a good amount of the details, I will remain from the sidelines, and read and reserve my comment until afterwards. I would however like to thank those that have stepped up to the plate,by informing all of us, on an issue that is news breaking and vitally important moving forward for everyone involved.

every year I resolve to be less annoyed / offended with people's stupidity. It usually lasts until about 12:05 am Jan 1st :) Seriously though, I really want to be a lot more active this year than in the last few years. Having a job that affords me a lot more time off than my job for the last 8 years will really allow me to do that. (12 days/month off as opposed to 2/month off) I also plan on taking a lot more camping and motorbiking trips this year as well.

Workers can appeal the Nordic model should it be implemented, because it still puts workers of a legal profession at the same risks that the communication provision did.

I'm not an expert on the subject, from everything I've read, the way the New Zealand (and I believe some provinces in Australia) have handled this issue, is the direction that would be most desirable for everyone directly affected. Other sex workers seem to also be advocating for something along these lines. Here is a good article about the benefits of the New Zealand way: http://www.fairobserver.com/article/legalizing-prostitution-new-zealands-example#.UrUSLxglBWI.twitter Everyone has their own opinion of which way it will go. I am predicting that the current government will leave it up to the provinces/municipalities. I don't see us going backwards. And doing nothing about this is less politically risky than doing something, especially with an election creeping up. I honestly don't think most real Conservatives really care about this issue (of course there is some extreme exceptions), and neither do the vast majority of Canadians, since most aren't directly affected. They mostly say, regulate & tax it, enforce the laws we already have instead of making more laws, let consenting adults do their own thing in private, and let's move onto more important issues. A reader poll in the Sun online today is showing 75% voted that prostitution "should be allowed", with over 5000 votes. Highly un-scientific, yes. But interesting, nonetheless. Also, Justice Minister Peter MacKay said this last week: "I'm not entirely convinced that the direction that has been attempted in other countries, and this Nordic model being one, is the right fit for Canada" So, we'll see. The nordic "model" is basically a non-issue in my mind, because it's so fucking illogical, and I honestly have more faith in our country than that. Like I said, I'm no expert, and I am an optimist, but I really believe we will go a progressive direction with this.

I agree with most of what's been said here already. I would also like to chime in on a few things. Firstly, its important to note that the decision on Friday came after countless years of hard work by the many people who've been pushing for decriminalization through their daily work around this. I think that, if any other model is pushed for by parliament or whoever, and that model doesn't work in favour of safe(r/est) working conditions, these same people will fight it probably until its rejected or struck down. (I don't call myself an optimist for no reason :)) Also, its actually completely illogical what the 'saving women' movement is doing. Do they think that by criminalizing clients and lowering incomes and worsening safety conditions, that that somehow will open up new opportunities in other work sectors or provide us with alternative incomes? No. In fact, the people who will suffer most from these models are the very women they seem to be advocating for (many of whom have told them repeatedly to stop speaking on behalf of them) because by this point they will be in worse financial situations. Criminalizing clients will not end the sex industry and it won't increase employment of former sex workers in the the formal economy, unlike the claims made by said 'feminists'. Also, this: "In 2004, the Swedish police and the Ministry of Justice released a report on the state of prostitution since the 1998 reform, and found that: There were fewer sex clients, but a larger proportion were dangerous Sex workers had less time to assess clients The prices for sexual services had fallen More clients were ready to pay for unprotected sex Sex workers felt that their risk of violence had increased The report also brought to light a new form of crime that had arisen: women posing as sex workers to rob clients (who would fear reporting the robbery to the police for fear of being charged with attempting to purchase sexual services)." From: http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/prostitution-laws-what-are-the-nordic-and-new-zealand-models-1.1603213 Hopefully, law and policy makers make new decisions based on the facts and not on their visions of morality that have proven time and time again to come at the expense of people's health and safety.

That was specifically requested by the government - they asked the court, should they lose, to have the opportunity to enact something to replace it. It's not uncommon for that to happen when the judicial branch reaches its influence into the legislative branch. The two aren't really meant to mingle, so it's the courts way of putting the onus back on government fix its mess. It can be argued that the current legislation does some things adequately. It deters really blatant exploitation and human trafficking, for example, or at least that's a point of view. If living off the avails is suddenly fair game then more than a few abusive scumbags could decide to set up shops tomorrow and cash in. The court would prefer parliment get its house in order, rather than itself be take the risk of being responsible for even worse problems. Not agreeing with it, that's just that reasoning.

I'll start off by saying that I love face pics. They help me making a decision and makes me more comfortable meeting the lady, knowing that I'm not going to be greeted by my neighbour. This is for my benefit only though. However....I don't think ladies should be posting pics with their faces. This is purely me thinking now in terms of the lady's future. Who knows what she is going to do later in life (as previous posters have mentioned). Here's a short (15min) video on privacy at a Ted talk. I anyone thinking of posting a pic with their face to watch at least the first 5 minutes on how fast face recognition technologies + public information + cloud computing is changing 'privacy'.

I don't like diets that eliminate entire food groups. I had good success with Weight Watchers many years ago, and have heard the same feedback from others. It teaches you how to eat and encourages choosing items from all types of food, usually I think now you have these little points cards, so you pick items until you get to your day's totals. so you can eat your favourites, but they might cost you a lot of points. eventually you get used to eating a healthy diet, in moderate amounts at regular intervals. The main thing is that there isn't any of that 'going back" to what you normally eat, because all along you are eating what you like to eat anyway. the easiest way to lose weight and maintain it is to just change one thing, and add one healthy thing. So if you drink 2 beers at the end of the day, cut back to one. If you eat fast food 5 times a week, cut back to 2 times a week or choose the healthier FF options. then you add one thing,, like in the time that you were drinking that extra beer, now you are going to walk around the block after you return home, and before you go inside. or you will start drinking 8 glasses of water a day. or take the stairs, or do crunches while watching tv, etc etc. WW also has prepared meals and treats available if you don't want to take the time to prepare stuff. :)
  49. 1 point
Diets have never really worked for me. As soon as you tell me I can't eat something it is all I crave. I recently started working out and trying to eat healthier... just in general. Moderation is key. I don't deprive myself but I make conscious decisions about what I eat and try to find healthier solutions to my favorite treats. The small things add up. I'm starting to gain weight back as I am building muscle but I had lost 15lb at my peak. My waist is 4.4" smaller. I have always been small so any more would be too much. I'm just maintaining now :)
