We all have our own opinions and I really wonder if anyone in the government listens to anything a regular Canadian says, but I just sent the following to the PM. I wonder if he will even bother to reply with anything except a form letter. For those who do like to send input on any topic this is where you can contact him. http://www.pm.gc.ca/eng/contact Mr Prime Minister, I have never written before but following last nights events and your responses in Question Period today I simply have to indicate that I feel terribly concerned about the way that you and your Minister are treating our Veterans. Mr Fantino was rude and disrespectful to our Veterans by arriving an hour and a half late to their scheduled meeting, and was then rude and disrespectful to the gentlemen who served our country. Furthermore, to watch you stand in the House and support him was even more of an insult to our Veterans. For the last several years it has been one incident after another in which your government has gone out of their way to cut benefits for our Veterans, cut services for our Veterans and generally cause them to question the value that your government and you personally place on their contributions to our country. You, your Minister and your government should be ashamed of yourselves.

In the past few weeks, especially, I've noticed, there have been lots of gorgeous new sp's, MA's and dancers joining the ranks of cerb, posting albums, and getting involved in the social groups. As you may have guessed from some of my previous posts I am not a fan of our current Prime Minister. I consider myself to be a fiscal conservative so in a number of ways I should have a fair amount of common ground with the PM but to be honest I find my self repulsed by the fact that he is the leader of My Country. It comes down to the fact that, to me, the Prime Minister is just not that nice a person...he is petty and vindictive in the way he operates and goes out if his way to cause difficulty for those who he feels have opposed him politically. I can respect the fact that people will have different political views on what is best for this country but what I cannot accept is the lack of respect that the Harper Government shows to people who disagree with them. He talk of integrity in government yet he associates and promotes people with little or no integrity (Duffy, Wallin, Chief of Staff and Senate leaders who worked with the PM to cover it all up). Yesterday's treatment of our country's veterans is just another example of how this government treats those who they disagree with but good for the veterans they are standing their ground and showing the PM and the Minister of Veterans Affairs as the scum bags they really are. Mr Harper you could learn a lot about Service to your country, about leadership and about integrity from our Canadian Veterans. Just my opinion.

Well said. This prime minister and his government are off side with so many issues of concern to the average citizen, hopefully he isn't able to gain another term. He was quite happy to send the troops off to some very dangerous missions and it's now time for him to ante up and care for them, may of whom are very damaged. You only have to witness the number of suicides among the returning Afghan vets to realize how serious an issue. As for Fantino, he has no idea what constitutes common curtsy, it was quite a picture of the older vets turned out smartly with their medals to face him, almost seems like he didn't have the spine to face them.

Petty, punitive politics. That what this government is all about. Someone who can't take responsibility for his own actions, but is constantly trying to shift the blame onto others, could well learn a few lessons about honour and courage from those who've risked their lives on our behalf.

I am not up to date on this thread but a thought/memory occurred to me. When I owned a business, I had many client that were also close friends who happened to own businesses as well. My particular biz offered both services and products individually or in tandem. All of my friends paid my firm for my offerings and I did in kind. I'm reading WAY too many instances of expectations and "should's" placed on relationships. If you're really my friend you would or wouldn't do this, if you really liked/loved me you wouldn't/would do this or that. We are all adults with lives and situations. Every one is different. If I have a friend who is struggling and I need their services and want to pay them as opposed to having them "free" me the service, does that make me any less a friend or the relationship any less important because they take it? I've known people who host dinner regularly because it's become a friendly habit but when things get tough, they do it anyway and then have regret later. Is that true friendship? To me, and this is only my opinion, friendship is about love and caring. You share parts of yourself with someone else. You're honest with them, you care about what happens to them and you are interested in them, not for what they can do for you but for what they add to your life by being there. You can have friends you don't have full disclosure with, you don't tell everything to and you don't share all with. Does that make it any less a friendship? I think everyone is stumbling over the unimportant stuff instead of focusing on the central theme. We are all people, SP or hobbyist. we all have feelings and needs and wants regardless of what we do. We can find love and friendship within ANY relationship and the way it's set up depends on the people involved. There are so many situations and stories outside the realm of thinking I've seen here that to make it black and white detracts from the range of human emotion IMO. Not saying I'm right because I can only be right for myself. Just as everyone here has to be right for themselves. I'm just saying, before you judge or state yes or no, give some thought to what might be outside your knowledge, personal experience, biases etc. and think that there may be situations where anything can and does happen and many times, for the right reasons. Because I do not host from home, it is pretty much mandatory to book in advance. As part of a country-wide police blitz meant to crack down on the human trafficking of women, London police arrested a York man last week, charged with several offences. Police also interviewed seven young women in city hotels and motels during the two-day operation, dubbed Operation Northern Spotlight, but did not make any further arrests. During the blitz, officers from 26 police forces searched hotels and motels -- interviewing 330 young women, some as young as 15, in effort to find evidence they were being trafficked police said. Officers say they found some were being forced to perform sexual acts, multiple times a day, for paying male customers. London police found the York man with an 18 year old woman and said officers were certain her participation was "forced," but she did not co-operate with police. The man is charged with several offences including living off the avails of prostitution, procuring someone to have illicit sexual intercourse, threats and sexual assault. It's been more than six months since police laid their first ever human trafficking charges. In July, Steven McDonald, 36, and Kristen MacLean, 31, were arrested on charges, including trafficking in persons, receiving a financial benefit from the offence, procuring illicit sexual intercourse, exercising control of a person for prostitution and living off the avails of prostitution. McDonald also is charged with two counts of sexual assault and giving an intoxicating substance to a person for sex. They are both still in police custody and their next court appearance is Friday. At the time, police didn't provide information about the victim, but a source said it is an adult female. Police have been running a pilot project to investigate human trafficking since last June, and like forces across Canada, are determined to start helping victims and arrest pimps using human trafficking laws toughened in 2005. I think it's definitely possible to be friends. Like SPs, attorneys charge for their time and I'm friends with an SP and my attorney. I think some of the posts here are not taking into consideration that there's different levels of friendships. I'm not talking about true friendship vs real friendship. But a friendship scale that starts off as a little over the level acquaintances, and highest level being best friends. I can't speak for others but I can say that my relationship in both cases is over that of an acquaintance but wouldn't classify either as my best friend though I value their friendship all the same. I think as long as both parties know where the business-friendship time boundary begins and ends and nobody is taking advantage of the other person then a true friendship can truly blossom. I've shared things about my personal life with my SP that I don't normally share with people and vice versa. Was that fake? I don't think so. Neither of us was under any obligation to share those things but there was mutual trust that made us feel comfortable enough to share. I hope this long post makes sense.

I think it's great that some people who received visits felt at ease with the police. However, there are reports from some workers who felt intimidated. From what I hear, the police who visited spas came with a female officer and left business cards. Some of the independent providers who received a visit received four male officers and a number written on a scrap of paper. That's a big difference in how the visits were conducted. Also, a spa is a space that is publicly known, and there is usually more than one attendant present. Most incall locations are not -- that's why independent providers do not list their addresses in their ads. The police booked with independents as a guest, meaning that provider was expecting a client, not four police officers. Think about the power dynamics when you have a single, usually female provider, who may be dressed in lingerie, alone with four men. Nat and I were discussing this and she gave me the perfect comparison: what if the police went around knocking on all the doors of married people to find victims of domestic violence? I doubt that would be very well received. I would also be curious as to whether any male providers were visited. Or do the police think that only female providers can be victims of trafficking?

I think they handled it badly, but i also think they intended to handle it badly when it came to the independent sps working alone. I don't think any reasonable person would think that 4 officers would be needed when they go to a location knowing the sp is expecting a single male appointment guest. There is little chance anyone else will be there, and if there was someone else there it would be at most one person, female. They only needed 4 officers to go into a spa, a place with several rooms and multiple people, but they think that is sufficient. But two officers at a single indy sp wouldn't be? And all male as well, ? I think ensuring the safety of an sp who advertises above a certain minimum age and has what is obviously a professional and business like ad/site is a waste of time and resources, so I can only assume the intention was a shake down.

I love men of all ages. There are great ones that are younger, great ones that are older and in between, and there are assholes in all categories too. I try hard not to let age be my deciding factor when it comes to choosing my clients. The deciding factor would be the initial feel I get from first discussions and contact. Age only becomes a big deal if you make it one.
