I've posted this poem a couple of times in posts before, it means a lot and the words say it all..... A smile costs nothing, but gives much- It takes but a moment, but the memory of it usually lasts forever. I was trotting into the grocery store recently and a gentleman was on his way out. I can't remember what was on my mind but it had me smiling...so when he looked at me and I gave him the biggest, warmest smile. He appreciated it so much he actually said to me "well that's a wonderful smile! so infectious!" and he smiled just as brightly as he walked past me and towards his car. It's guaranteed he passed it on to someone he encountered afterwards. It's more contagious than the common cold.... smile and the world smiles with you :D

I've always loved the beauty of a smile. Whether its Christmas morning and people are open presents and the smile is from ear to ear, or perhaps its a baby smile or even a total stranger smiling. I've been told I have a very nice smile, as much as I enjoy the compliment I never really believed it, until the other day I had an epiphany. I was lying beside a beautiful lady and she was smiling. I was in complete awww at her smile, it was so beautiful and peaceful. I was put into a state of ease and warmth. I never felt so relaxed from such a simple thing. Then it hit me, I've never seen an "ugly" smile so those compliments must be sincere and even if they weren't who cares a smile to me will always remain beautiful. I can't be the only one who love a smile so remember to smile once in a while its free. You got nothing to lose. I know I sure will.

In case you hadn't heard, we lost an incredible talent in Phillip Seymour Hoffman today, who was found dead this morning in his New York apartment as a result of an apparent overdose. There aren't words to do his body of work justice, so I thought I'd invite movie fans (because if you were a movie fan, you were a Hoffman fan) to share some of your favourite roles or scenes. This guy was one of those guys who seemed indestructible. He was out shovelling snow and dropped dead. The doctor at emergency said he was probably dead before he hit the ground...so maybe not a bad way to go. He looked like he was in great shape but he ate crap and loved his beer. He didn't smoke, but he almost never exercised. Every day at work he had a greasy breakfast, donuts, muffins, gallons of coffee. He didn't listen to anything his doctor said about his diet. In fact, he constantly badgered people he considered "fat". So there are two lessons here: 1: You aren't fit just because you look thin. What the inside of your heart looks like is more important. Get a treadmill stress test! Everyone should have one in their forties. Your doctor can prescribe one and it only takes a couple of hours. 2: Don't eat garbage. 3: Don't leave a mess behind. My buddy's wife is now dealing with insurance and estate matters. He also told her he had a will but his lawyer says he had discussed it but never actually made one up. It is weird that so many guys worry about "safe sex" when they are so careless about other health matters.

got new wheels! well ... I got the same model of vehicle I was driving previously because I really loved it, so it's really not much different ... but it's much nicer and newer and shinier than the other one, and it's all mine... so it's still exciting. Picking it up tomorrow or Tuesday :D woot woot!

This guy should get a recommendation. Wouldn't that be funny? He has saved a lot of us many times. One small example is the Arabic massage girl who looks hot on BP and says a Must see. OH MY GOD I am now compelled to date myself terribly. I remember as a kid growing up in the 70s there was a CBC show called "This Is the Law", in which a panel of guests was shown a short (slightly comical) video of a hapless "lawbreaker" (always played by actor Paul Soles) who unwittingly breaks some obscure, unspecified Canadian law and gets arrested. Then the panel had to decide what law he just broke. Some of the laws were pretty weird and some were totally impossible to spot, especially when there was some other more obvious candidate inserted to trick the panelists. Huh! I just searched and found exactly one clip of the show: Funny... the "special guest" in this clip happens to be a younger-than-I-ever-saw-him Donnelly Rhodes, who is better known as the older cop on Da Vinci's Inquest and the doctor in the remake of Battlestar Galactica. Ah, the 70s. I really don't miss you at all.

I'm on a low-carb diet right now, but not a no-carb diet like the Atkins diet. I'm also not following this diet for weight-loss purposes. I'm on a high-protein diet to increase my muscle mass a little bit because I'm training for some intense cycling this summer! I still eat rice, but it's brown rice, and I still eat bread but I eat flax-seed enriched bread (for fiber intake). I'm really enjoying it! Like Savannah, I don't really diet. I don't own a scale at home but I judge my weight by how good I feel about myself. I also judge my weight by how snug my jeans feels. Nothing is worse than needing to buy new clothing because you've gained too much weight. It's a good barometer for me. If weight loss is your goal, dieting really is the key. Isn't weight loss 80% diet and 20% exercise? That's what I've heard somewhere anyway... It's definitely true that weight loss is about changing your life, and not changing how you eat for 12 weeks. It's too easy to put it back if you don't do a drastic change (but it can be a gradual change, right?) At the moment I'm really lucky. I can pretty much eat whatever I want whenever I want but I've noticed that my desire to eat tons of crap has dissipated with age. That's good, because from what everyone tells me, as I age it'll be harder for me to keep the weight off!

If I didn't already own a requested outfit, I would simple go out and purchase it.

I read something many moons ago that has stuck with me. It was that a true genuine smile will not just impact the mouth but the eyes. When the eyes are smiling as well as the mouth, you have touched someone. When the smile does not reach the eyes, the smile is a response and is painted on. I tend to look at the eyes and the whole face now. If a smile doesn't quite touch the eyes, if I'm in a position to, I'll make sure they're ok. I often smile "just because"...the air smells wonderful, you see a cute scene, see something beautiful or inspiring. I think even the smiles you give yourself are gifts and sometimes those gifts touch others. Just because you smile to yourself doesn't mean someone else didn't see it and in turn smile. Lovely thing about smiles, they are contagious and create wonderful energy. Pass a smile on today even if only to yourself.

I'm fine with them. And like others, I fail to see how scrolling a bit or clicking through to page 2 (or 3, or...) is an unbearable hardship.
