11 pointsYou can't look at this business as a by-the-hour salary. We don't work eight hours a day, five days a week. The time and money that goes into replying to message boards, replying to emails, posting ads, taking phone calls, self-care/hygiene, photo shoots, the cost of maintaining an incall or transportation to outcalls, website upkeep, travel costs for touring etc. eats into that "per hour" figure as well. This business also ebbs and flows, and there are downtimes that balance out busy periods. We don't have sick time or vacation pay. Yes, this can be a very touchy subject, especially when there are assumptions made. Additional Comments: 1. They're not "selling themselves". We sell a service, not our bodies. Let's not use the same language abolitionist groups use when creating moral panic and conflating human trafficking with sex work. 2. "Too cheap" -- according to whom? There are many reasons why someone chooses to set their rates at what they are, and quite honestly, it's not up to us to judge. There is no regulatory board that oversees our industry. To some people, my rates can be "too high" or "too low". To that, I say that is none of your business. It's MY business. My rates have increased since I started in this business, as I figured out what my expenses were and how often I wanted to work. They are at a price-point which allows me to see the clients I want to see while maintaining a modest lifestyle and going to school. It has afforded me some opportunities I wouldn't ordinarily have, like buying my first car, but at the same time, I don't feel I am living an extravagant lifestyle (it was a great deal on a used car). There is always going to be someone with lower rates or higher rates than you. That is how this business, and all businesses work. Stop looking at other providers and comparing yourself to them; concentrate on your own self. It's not a matter of "s/he's stealing clients from me", IMHO, but rather "what am *I* doing to attract and retain clients?" 3. Let's not make assumptions about what a "lower" price-point implies, especially when it's making potentially stigmatizing and dangerous statements about having a pimp or drug addiction. We don't know their situation. I'm honestly quite surprised that this thread is still going on, just as I was surprised to see in another thread a provider pose the question of someone she had never met being underage. Statements like the ones in this thread have the possibility of impacting someone else's business and well-being, and not in a good way.
-
7 pointsI must agree, I love cat's response to this forgotten thread. In my opinion sexuality has nothing to do with age. Granted, some younger ladies may be "in it for the money" but let's not pull out the tar and feathers! I hate assumptions and stereotypes! Don't forget, that that can be reversed! The goal is to find someone that attracts you whether it be physically, intellectually, emotionally or a combination of all or one or two. As long as you have had a great time, is that not the goal?
-
4 pointsI really appreciate email as an initial contact. My query is what is the anticipated response time? I will honestly say that I won't even check my email on my personal days. Sometimes this may be 4 days in a row! To me, email indicates a future date...days maybe even weeks from now. Same day will probably never happen via email. I have things to do, a life lol! My most important form of communication for my life is texting because of its discretion when surrounded by others. My ads state that texting is the preferred method. So...all that to say that it may take more than 24hrs and up to 4 days to respond to an email. That is my business model and I won't apologize for it. At some point, someone said that we should review our business practices and maybe not spend so much time on twitter etc and spend more time answering our emails. My reply to that is that we have the right to have free time and do with that free time what we wish. A lot of ladies have schedules and calendars that are indicated on our websites. Perhaps a cursory view of the site prior to contact would make the whole scheduling aspect easy peasy!

3 pointsI don't see what the big deal is with an SP coming to your home. We are expected to have gentlemen in our homes, with the same thoughts of 'is he casing the joint' and do I come home to en empty place some day, or he turns up at some point when it's completely inconvenient (has happened!). We let you into our homes, why are we not let into yours? Discretion is one thing that I have noticed on this site, it is very prevalent here, and the ladies are outstanding in this. I don't believe that any lady advertising on this site would ever do anything to compromise the situation, but I do feel more comfortable going to the home of a gentleman if I have met him before. Timing things properly, and the lady being respectful of the situation (I could be your accountant coming to visit you), we dress appropriately for the public, its whats underneath that the public doesn't see is what counts, and what happens AFTER the door is shut! lol

2 pointsTrust is a two way street:) If I can trust you to come into my space then you should be able to trust me to come to yours. If a lady is reputable, has a trail, website, reco's etc, then why the worry? The largest part of our business model is discretion and trust. Happy hobbying:)

2 pointsI also liked the tribute they paid to Teemu Selanne in Anaheim. He was named all 3 stars of the game, and at the end, he skated a lap with former teammate Sebastien Giguere. A great tribute to a fantastic player and a great person. And Go Habs Go!!!

2 pointsPersonally I would have no issues with seeing a lady at my place. The ladies I now see (granted after a bit of learning and experience) I trust, so I wouldn't be worried about the silverware being stolen LOL All that said, the biggest obstacle to hosting in my own place is that I live in smalltown Ontario, and it would be far to long a drive to get here But I do like hosting, which is why I like outcalls to my hotel. But irrespective of my preference , it's first and foremost what the lady feels comfortable doing. A rambling RG

2 pointsA couple of points I'd like to bring up. I'm seeing far too many people comparing lower-priced SP's to McDonald's or Baskin-Robbins, when in fact, even the lowest prices are well into the high-end luxury market. Even if somebody is "only" charging $100/hr, how many other businesses do you know that can charge that much? Second point, some people have mentioned that they are now retired on fixed-income. Perhaps this has more to do with the reduced prices? The previously high-flying Ottawa market is now coming back down to Earth.

-
2 pointsWow... Really? Clearly you took nothing from the other thread you said this on last year. You seem to think that we just answer an email, lay on our backs and make a boat load of money - that we shouldn't be so ungrateful as to not rush to answer your email as we need to respect your money and time... And yet you cannot respect our time!?? Whether a lady does this full time or part time, it's a full time job. Answering emails, maintaining ads, keeping up their web presence, texting clients, making appointment arrangements, booking hotels, booking travel, making plans, upkeeping their blog, twitter account and website, arranging for new photos, I could go on. Oh right, and in addition to all of this, she's also building and maintaining relationships with her clients... Friendship, trust, etc. Then there's the "working days" themselves. And by the way? Outside of this industry, they are REAL PEOPLE!!! Some mothers, some wives, some girlfriends, some students, all homeowners or renters who have dishes to wash, laundry to do, and meals to prepare. Never mind a little something called downtime!!! I don't think you realize for a second how mentally, emotionally and physically taxing this profession is. Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I LOVE it. But it is not "EASY MONEY". If you want the respect of an SP, and want her to be eager to reply to your emails, try showing a little respect yourself.

1 pointThis thread seems to have two aspects to it. First of all, many hockey players do in fact do more than show their skills, or in some cases their bad sides, on the ice. The whole issue of overpaid spoiled athletes can always be argued. However I know that here in the Maritimes at least a few of our NHL players do give back. Brad Richards from PEI during the players lock out was found in New Jersey helping gut the houses and doing pure physical labor after Hurricane Sandy. He contributes a great deal back into PEI. Sidney Crosby from NS comes across as a genuinely nice guy and he also puts a lot back into his community. I am pretty confident that all across the country your local NHL players do the very same things. Now. The playoffs. I am a Canadiens fan! HUGE fan. However on those few and rare occasions when the Leafs are still playing after my Canadiens then I become a Leafs fan. So, I am hoping that you Leaf fans, and I can hardly imagine how that can happen, will pick up the Canadian flag and cheer for the good guys. :)
-
1 pointWell here in PEI I believe that we got the weather that you have been enjoying in Ottawa for the last few days. It was almost 20 degrees and I was outside! I did more lawn raking around the melting snow drifts and actually cleaned out my first few flower beds. Bring it on!

1 pointThis is a good thread, thanks for posting it. I've often thought of asking an SP over but after much thought and reading different musings here on CERB, I've kind of got the fealing that in general terms only, most SPs would prefer a venue of their choice or 4 or 5 start hotel. Having said that I'm going to revisit the idea as I'm single with kids in college and a big empty house that I'm rather comformatble in and enjoy entertaining. Thanks again!

1 pointI just have rates that are based on the 20s coming out of ATMs. I don't have a 150 rate, for that reason, even tho maybe 150 or 250 makes more 'sense' so to speak, for this purpose it really doesn't. Same as having a half hour at 125 or even 130, that to me sounds like maybe, slightly, someone thought about it seriously knowing that someone is going to come with multiples of 20s and not ask for change. i am left with that impression, even if it is not the intention lol. But in general, if you don't want to give the extra as tip, bring the correct amount, it is clear in her ads or conversation what that is. Bring an additional bill or two if you think it is possible you might want to voluntarily tip, but many of us do not keep cash on the premises, and if we do, it is most likely also multiples of 20s and so unlikely we will have a 5 or 10 hanging around. Larger bills tend to be an exception. if someone brings 2 x 100, and then on arrival decides on a half hour at 120, clearly they are going to need change or the sp will be looking at giving an involuntary discount lol. Some guys are fairly clueless tho, if they are new to this. One guy showed up asking 'you take debit?" well, no I don't not for this anyway. same with CCs, it is a cash based biz, and you are not going to a business location with CC processors or reception desks, and cash registers, so exact change is always the best way to ensure you are not giving an involuntary tip.

1 pointIn all my years living on this planet I have used the services of many non-certified people such as mechanics, MS IT guru's, Mac IT guru's, contractors, electricians, painters, roofers, designers, landscapers and most of all MA's, and have performed their skill or trade as professional as asked. I find that many non-certified people in their profession do a better job than certified trades people, that said I have had many certified people preach to me how I should not hire non certified tradesmen to do these services because they don't know what they are doing, they cheat the system and you are not getting what you paid for. On all counts these are wrong and like the massage/masseuse industry there is no difference, if you are good at what you do, love what you do then no certificate can compliment your services.

1 pointAs a Habs fan, it's heartwarming to see Leafs and Sens fans consoling each other on an early golfing season, arguing only which team had the most disastrous year. Was it the one that was never very good from the start, or the one that gave their fans hope, only to collapse tremendously and thoroughly at year's end? All kidding aside, I applaud those who set petty rivalry aside long enough to cheer for the only team representing Canada this year. We're not going to win the cup, but let's give em hell, at least. ;)

1 pointNot sure "cheap" is the issue here. In my mind, asking for a few dollars change fails the "consideration and respect" test by refocusing the encounter in an uncomplimentary light. Yes, of course money is part of the equation, but not the part that makes it memorable - and worth doing. I would personally never put myself (or the SP) in such a position. IMHO, asking for change demonstrates a disturbing lack of forethought and consideration.

1 pointAs someone who does most of my communications, including all first-time interactions by e-mail, I would never feel comfortable answering an introductory e-mail (or any other, to be honest) with a one line response like that. For this reason, e-mails always wait until I have sufficient time to sit down and write a personal, thoughtful response. E-mail goes to my phone, but unless it's time-senstive, it won't get answered until later on when I get home, after dinner, after I'm done entertaining, or after I'm done whatever else I need to do right now. I consider my communications as part of the whole experience I offer, and so I don't half-ass it, or rush it. Good communication (on both sides) can set the whole tone of a potential encounter, and I know that my e-mails have made new clients, or nervous folks feel 100% more confident about what may come. I don't like receiving one line e-mails, so I don't send them. But while I make special time to properly answer e-mails, I may still have spare moments throughout the day, while waiting for a guest to arrive, or waiting in line at Loblaws, to send out a tweet, bump my BP ad, etc. Also, for me, I actually do my due diligence with potential client's information, including their name, e-mail, phone number, and other information I might have about them. It takes a bit of time to run it though different bad date databases, Google, and do a few other top-secret hooker tricks. So I need to sit down and pay attention to doing these things, before I can respond to the e-mail. Also, if there is a reference to check, this can bring another party into the mix, which might also extend the response time. As well, e-mails that have all the proper information, included with a friendly introduction, always get answered much sooner the other ones that I dread answering where I have to press for more info. Sometimes I also take a day or two off, when I often cut myself off from non-essential work-related communications. If I get an e-mail on Saturday, looking for an appt next Thursday, I might not answer instantaneously. At this time I might be hanging out with my family, or Tweeting online, reading and responding to threads on CERB, or whatever else I feel like doing. Then on Monday when I consider myself "back to work", I'll take the necessary time to thoughtfully respond to gentlemen's inquiries. :) I say this, but I still often reply to e-mails on my days off; I just don't feel like I am obligated to be available 24/7 to answer inquiries. Overall I think I'm a pretty good communicator, and very good with response time. The only reason I'm responding to this thread, is that I have encountered situations exactly like this, (and I know many other ladies have too), where I've had clients who I haven't even met yet, e-mail a second time questioning me because they saw me do something online before receiving a response to their initial e-mail. While I want to be reliable, accommodating, and communicate well, a while back I made a promise to myself never to be a slave to my phone, e-mail, money or clients. Because this job can sometimes be unconventional in terms of hours & scheduling etc, it's important to set personal boundaries like this. I need time for me, otherwise I'd go crazy and wouldn't be useful or fun for anyone.

1 pointI think a woman can have sex with anyone they want for whatever price they want, including at no cost. To say a service provider is selling her service too cheap is assuming a lot from a limited perspective. Implying minimum acceptable prices makes the industry and your occupation your pimp in my opinion. I once had sex at no cost after a night out with a service provider I frequented for years, and this was at her invitation. (I asked her out for a friendly beer, I didn't "book" her for a date). Was she not allowed to act on a mutual connection due to our previous hobbying transactions? Of course this is very different, but what she chooses to do with her body and time is her choice, and being a member of this industry doesn't negate that fact. Its also important to remember that not all hobbyists can afford premium pricing, so should they not be able to procure services from a provider who is comfortable operating within their lower budget? Anyone who says they don't pay attention to rates when looking for a provider can obviously afford higher rates. I own a small company in a competitive trades industry, and am forced to quote against competition at prices I literally cannot match, often because they work unlicensed and cut corners, and while this seems difficult to deal with, my customers continue doing business with me because I fit what they are looking for, and they can afford to hire me. All I can say about those who go with the cheaper quote is I hope it works out for them, and give me a call if it doesn't. I'm not a frequent poster, but I am a frequent reader, and am well aware I've probably just set myself up for lots of criticism from any number of angles (which is part of the reason I don't often share my views), but I felt like sharing my opinion today, so there you are, have at it.
-
1 pointSummer, even though we have not met, I can certainly understand why you had lower pricing to start your SP career. To me, a lady is not "undercutting" others when she first starts out with lower prices, but she is simply gauging her (or his) level of companionship. After a while, with recommendations and experience, adjusting her pricing to what she feels is appropriate; in effect, EARNING her justification. New providers will always draw attention from established ones, that's just the nature of the business.
-
1 pointI am a very positive, spiritual person and I support everyone for what they want to do and I try my best not to judge anyone based on ANYthing. I charge $XXX/hr inclusive and that by no means indicates how I value myself. I am NOT a stupid woman nor am I blind to the market where I am. I am also open to my limitations with hours, looks, wardrobe etc. No one knows my situation nor do they know me or what I deal with on a daily basis. I am a quality provider who cares, who has amazing skills and I try to connect with my clients. I shun many of the industry "norms" because I don't agree with them. I give pleasure because I love it and I want to do it. To have someone comment there are no quality providers at my price point or that I am not attractive because of my price point or that I am not a serious provider or in it for the long haul, to that I say piss on you...I am amazing. I may not be for everyone but for those who see what I am and what I give.. I am NOT my price point. I get very tired of these threads. The bottom line is do what you want. Do what makes you happy. Do what makes you feel good about you and fuck everyone else. If someone does it different say "you go girl". There are enough people against us in this industry without driving it home amongst ourselves. Enough already. Everyone has a place no matter rates, menu, looks, age, sex, or any other factor involved. We are all in this together and we are all important. One year in the making...I hope I said it in a positive manner.
-
1 pointfrom todays craigslist, that would be the amazing Breathtaking Vivian, showing off her new pics, in massage ads here on cerb also
-
1 pointNathalie has hit it right on the head. Those that have lower rates are not doing it for the purpose of undercutting at all, they are trying to make a living at it. You will always see rates, from a lower level to an upper level, and that has been part of this industry for a many years, from past to present, you can see that today from ad's here,EC,P411,BP or wherever the men seek services.
-
1 pointI think it's up to everyone to set their own rates. It's a personal decision, and one based on a lot of factors that we might not necessarily know about. "Do 'they' even know the cost of living in Canada?" I'm assuming you're talking about recent immigrants of migrant laborers? I'm sure they do know the cost of living here, but need to make a certain amount of money to make ends meet. I have no idea, we aren't walking in their shoes after all... Ultimately we can't judge. We don't know anything about their lives or what determined their rates, etc. I don't think it has anything to do with self-respect or fairplay either... it's just people trying to make a living in ways they see fit. These things have a tendency of working themselves out. I'm really sorry it's making life difficult for you, Eve. I think that the really good clients, clients who are respectful and kind, will continue to see the ladies they want, regardless of the cost. I don't think it will drive your prices down at all. People are always transitioning in and out of the industry... Those that stick around (like you) and have good reputations (like you) will be successful in the long run. We need to hold our judgment and be in solidarity with one another. It's a tough industry! Just my two cents, Nat xox
-
1 pointWe can only hope! *lol* Additional Comments: Hmmm...so, if the Conservatives are basically concerned with retaining as many votes from the public as possible, and popular opinion favours decriminalization, there may be a chance they'll shy away from the moral rhetoric of Joy Smith and enact something with no teeth in this regard.
