You know how the SCC has ruled - in unanimity. What can you do in the interim? Contact your MP. Demand a written response. Organize. Organize. Organize. If you are a part of a SW organization, enlist the support of human rights organizations. Have THEM speak on your behalf in concert with your own voice. Find SW friendly artists, authors, educators and other persons of note to advocate for you. Get Elizabeth May on board. Get the NDP on board. Get the Liberals on board. Don't get sidetracked on side issues. No tangents. You want to gain support NOT alienate. This bill affects both sexes. In the resounding words of Pierre Elliot Trudeau - "There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation." That was nearly 50 years ago. Let's NOT go backwards. Just some food for thought.

Yesterday, I had a call from 411 directory. They wanted to know if my ad needed updates. I asked he was aware of the new bill that may be our new laws. I continued to inform him, he was greatly concerned and irritated by the whole thing. Not for his job or anything, as 411 has many other business to advertise for. He said he would speak to his supervisor about this, and what they plan to do with the escort category. He also said that he will do his part in writing to different offices, voicing his concern too. Hope that he does! I was happy to see that someone outside of my business and this bored to be genuinely concerned. I know is just one person on a phone, but gives me a glimmer of hope that others will also become more and more aware of this disturbing bill.

If I send a picture to a lady that I've met,or have had a mutual respect for, I will always ask firstly. It seals a bond of huge trust between each other, and that, I respect the most in this business and friendships. Just wanted to say that after being on Cerb for 4 years and meeting many SP's and MA's over the years that I have learnt a lot about the women who have chosen the is path as a career. Most of them have chosen this career because they enjoy the independence and financial freedom that it can bring. But this job is not easier. Many of them have families or kids to support. University educations that they are trying to complete. This job is demanding as it involves many hours of marketing, emailing, posting ad's answering text and PM's. Trying to get hotel, schedule appointments. The women who are most successful at this job are the one's that truly enjoy their work and like to please their clients. I've met many of these women and have truly enjoyed my time with them time and again. This can be a stressful time as they need the time to prepare the room and prepare themselves for each encounter. Some day's it can busy and other day's not. Some day's they meet some really fun gentlemen and other days, maybe some creeps. Some have been robbed, or beaten up or cheated. Sometimes there no shows or other girls that make fake appointments. This is a hard job. Sometimes it is physically demanding. They give their most intimate moments. It takes a certain kind of woman to handle the emotions and sexual activities that this job may entail. One SP, told me that it's not the physical aspect that is tiring. But the emotional aspect. To be able to pretend to enjoy themselves when they are not. She was saying that in this job she had to be the giver all the time and that most of the men were takers. Talk to them, they are people also, not just objects of your lust. Treat them well and with respect and kindness. I've been told by them, that it doesn't matter how old or what you look like. Remember, that they are there to make you happy and are providing a very intimate service, so you should appreciate they company they provide. I hate these discussions because essentially they all boil down to "it's a sex worker's choice who s/he sees." But if you're making race-based generalizations as your reasoning for why you won't see XYZ race, well you're being racist. Discriminate based on bad behaviour, not race.

One further thing that came to me over the last few hours. PLEASE engage the potential leaders that are vying to fill the position that Shawn Atleo left as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. This bill completely ignores the outcry of the First Nations in regard to the disappearances and murders of 3000 Aboriginal women. In fact, it further endangers the countless women who may fall or have fallen victim to creatures like Robert Pickton, many of whom were First Nations. The United Nations is investigating the disappearances and the unheeded call for government action to solve this horrible phenomenon. THIS BILL FURTHER JEOPARDIZES THE PLIGHT OF ABORIGINAL WOMEN. In an era where the Conservative government values international reputation as highly as it does, it certainly can't afford overt UN condemnation. More food for thought.

It?s all voluntary and initiated by the client. The client has needs, feelings, preferences and curiosity, but why do so many refuse to take responsibility for themselves? What they express as anger, self-righteous indignation and personal entitlement is really projected self-hatred. I want to sit these men down and say: If you don?t want to see a paid companion, don?t do it. If you decide to seek out a companion, that's your decision. What you want is not what everyone else may want. That?s usually a wonderful thing. Recognize that we?re not like cheap candy that you can buy daily. I was thinking something similar earlier today. While it's all well and good to stick to established SPs as some have suggested, if one of those SPs were to be investigated and LE gets access to a client list or correspondence pertaining to engaging in the hobby, you could still get nailed, unfortunately.

If the Nordic Model becomes a law, I will be waiting for all those who say it won't change a thing because of budget restrictions and stuff, to test out how things are. The way I see it, this just gives the police more powers that it doesn't need. Piss one of them off, they go snooping around to see if there is anything that they can use on you. An SP getting caught for violating the bizarre proposed rules (or some other trumped out charge), they pressure her into sharing correspondences for something favourable. There are many possibilities that are running through my mind, and I may be more scared then I need to be, but seeing how I have according to many medical journals, more life ahead of me then behind, I'd rather not continue the rest of my life with the threat like this over my head.

I think what is being missed is the police could have done so under the old legislation. Just for example how many ladies for example advertise incalls, how many agencies advertise, both illegal btw. It wasn't targeted by LE with massive raids because it is both time and resource (money) demanding on police. With the possibility of low return, on their LE investment if that makes sense. I mean would you as a police chief sanction thousands of dollars to go after one SP and clients doing incalls and get out of it, maybe six months probation? Especially when for less dollars unmarked cruisers could drive by and target street prostitution. Or even cheaper, set up a lot of speed traps and actually ticket drivers and produce revenue for the city Government agencies, be they federal, provincial or municipal are all constrained by budgets...no new funding has been allocated to law enforcement to go after prostitution. And LE is a government agency or extension of the Government/State Yes the government had to play a moral high ground to appease it's constituents but really I believe they could have given a rat's a$$ about the issue to begin with. This was their solution to get Bedford and the SCC off their back so to speak. Proof of how much they really care. Only twenty million for all of Canada to "save" prostitutes...if PM really believed what he preached, that amount, well he should hang his head in shame, that's not going to help anyone. No money or resources allocated to law enforcement. And each police department sets it own priorities with the resources it has It isn't just what the bill says, it also matters what the government will do to enforce that new bill...and that is not much of anything Just my opinion RG

I agree with you guys. From my experience, some gents like to spend me a pic when they contact me for the first time, and although it is not necessary, I appreciate the thought. I appreciate the spirit behind your post and the time you took to write it. I certainly hope you all treat the people who serve your morning coffee, deliver your paper, clean your house, fix your car, cook your lunch, shine your shoes, serve your dinner, clean your teeth, wax your body hair, prepare your prescription, scrub your toilet, ring through your grocery purchases and dry clean your suits the exact same way. Sex work is real work and although we certainly deserve compassion, respect and consideration, we don't require it any more than any other working person you encounter during your day. It's the separation of us as "special" that often perpetuates the notion that we require "special" considerations, that we need "special" accommodations, that we simply aren't like everyone else. Well we are.

You know what it all comes down to personal preference. Why is it when this comes up we are automatically judged a bigot, racist or whatever else. Truthfully I applause these women, at least they are open about it and let it be known up front then not opening the door when the gentleman arrives. Which would you prefer? I for one have been called everything but a white guy because I refuse this dancer's offer to go to back room. After she finished calling me a racist I asked an I racist to the white women I turned away as well. I am so sad for my girl:( She is not ready for INDY work, just before meeting her she had thoughts of going to a big city and with no credit card to book hotel etc...she was tempted to street walk!
