This may be the time where the rubber meets the road. There are industry standard labels and acronyms now so if things were to change drastically, so would that verbiage. Then it becomes a matter of both sides paying attention and respecting the other. By this I mean, coming up with new ways of saying old things. Instead of a BJ or HJ it could be verbal or non verbal communication (depending on whether your mouth is full or not). There will always be advertising so unless they're going to rewrite the laws every time a new innocuous term to describe a sexual act comes into play there are always ways. New comers on the SP side will have to do their homework to understand how the laws impact them and terms that are acceptable. New clients will have to respect the SP's and their terms or risk being shut out. There are ways to reduce the risk but it will still be a risk so until everyone gets used to it, there will be a lot of tension and sensitivity. Those who don't listen, pay attention or offer respect will pay the price. Right now anyone can pop in and out of the industry with little to no problem. They don't need to be serious or long term. If the laws pass as is, this will be more difficult to do. I still see boards like CERB around, just in a different way unless they can be under the radar by being a "non public" place hosted outside Canada. I expect phone use as opposed to email and text will flourish once again. The one thing that those in favor of this bill have ignored and continue to ignore is the fact we are not ignorant, stupid, or victims and we will find a way to prevail and flourish. It won't be easy but it will be worth it and meanwhile, the fight for change will continue. Being pro-active not reactive will go a long way.

I haven't seen one recent poll specifically about C-36 that suggests any kind of support for it. I've seen the question, do you support this bill, be answered anywhere from 78% NO to 92% NO.

After much anticipation and exchange of messaging I decided to visit this beautiful lady. Not knowing what to expect the anticipation was high. Well, first of all the initial question is a moot point because this is not the Nordic model. It is way way worse and for sex workers as well as clients. One can always change their minds, as I have done in the past, but I believe that I have decided upon a course of action. Whether it is in fact practical will be determined by what this new proposed law REALLY means, and what the police do with it. My rationale for what I am thinking is multifaceted but primarily two fold. First, as much as I respect what many have said about the police not doing serious enforcement, and not having budgets to do so, in my situation I do not believe that to be the case. In a larger city such as Ottawa then I probably would agree with that. I am in PEI however, a very small place with a very conservative population. ( I don't mean politically). Under direction of Charlottetown city council I could see the city police being directed to take action. It would make a lot of people VERY pleased to see that PEI is indeed upholding its, values`, and is nothing but a family vacation spot. Whereas we are such a small market and there are very few women that travel in here, it would be nothing for a single officer to track her from our little airport and from there get to her clients. I`m not a cop and I am sure that I could do that simply by following the advertised dates of availability.` The second factor in my tentative decision is based on the advertising provisions which are really yet to be clarified. Mr MacKay was very clear at his press conference that he considers the internet to be a public space and therefore will be inaccessible for advertising. IF, and that may be a big if, he is correct, then really it will be impossible to know when a lady is planning a trip and even then illegal for both of us ìf we communicate. I honestly do not accept that new code words or offers of free sex are going to hold water in a court room. Finally, I went about fifteen months between Cerb dates, so for me celibacy is a viable, though not preferred, option. :( After all of that preamble what I am thinking is a variety of things. First, any encounters I may have will not happen on PEI. If ANY of what I said above is true then PEI will neither be a safe place to be a client nor a safe place to be an SP, in a legal sense. Secondly, because of the communication ban, even presuming that advertising is allowed, it would be impossible for me to clarify ahead of time with someone that I don`t know and who does not know me what my preferences are, what her preferences are, and so on. Therefore it would be walking into a situation blind which is not something that I would enjoy and I`m guessing that the SP would not enjoy. Finally between now and the time that this law really appears that it is going to become real, then it would be nice to communicate with a few women that interest me and have our chance to talk while it is legal. That being said, how many SP`s are going to be interested in emailing and communicating with some client named MN2 when there is no date fixed, no time period planned and all only on the chance that I might follow through! Women that I have met before will probably be the ones that I choose to contact. The whole thing sucks. And yes, this image is for what all of you are out there thinking. :)

Carried out my democratic duties today.

I had an amazing day. It was another perfect outdoors day and I took great advantage of it. Grass cutting, sitting on my ass weeding and a few outside chores that had been postponed just too many times were accomplished. While doing those sorts of things it becomes an opportunity to talk to oneself without distraction. I had some GREAT conversations and that included a few arguments and I won them very convincingly. :) I actually spoke by telephone with someone else involved in this business about the political debacle and it was SO nice to do that. Threads and posts and PM's are fine, but there's nothing like real communication to help sort ones thoughts. I have thought of this quite a bit since my return to Cerb, but I really miss WIT and Samantha Evans right now. I miss their insight and wisdom and since I have met them both in the past I wish that I could have a conversation with each of them. I am not a huge soccer fan but I just cracked a beer and will begin right now to watch the first world cup game and hopefully find what it is that is so compelling to so many people around the world. This is long enough to be a blog entry and not that anyone would want to read my blog posts I am thinking of starting one. I don't accept anonymous contact, discussion or booking. Which includes forum handles, and emails, and chat (which is enabled on a few ad only sites, meaning that someone with a handle there will not ever have posts or a profile that can be reviewed) I feel it resolves a lot of issues. Plus when someone is told via chat, email, or pm that they need to call for the info, and that phone call never comes? tells me everything i need to know about them, i.e. they don't or won't respect the sp boundaries and/or requirements.

I go with my intuition and have a conversation with them for a few minutes. I listen to their voice, the way they speak to me, the questions they ask and even if they sound sweet and charming, that warning bell can go off in my head. I really doubt that the LE and the cities with their tight budgets will get into a very complex and expensive surveillance on the individuals when they communicate between themselves to book an appointment or to inquire about the services. There are so many other threats to the safety of the Nation that they will do then as they do now. They already try to focus on the child pornography issue, but their resources are not enough to cover that task, more crucial and important than the communication between an honest hobbyist and an honest SP. For Harper, and his supporters, what is annoying is what you see in the street. For that matter, the street workers will have a hard time, and their safety will be at risk. And Street workers are not the ones that use computers and emails to promote their business. Look at the presentation of McKay on C36: the purpose of C36 is the safety on the streets... not about the safety of the street workers. This new bill is so full of non-sense that it will be overturned by the SCC. What we have to do is to help those who will contest C36 in court, like Pivot Legal Society of BC. When I say help, I am saying to support them or group alike with our donation. It's in our own interest and in the interest of the industry. We all know that money will be the tool to win this legal battle; Harper has access to our taxes to fight against us; so we have to be strong together. The other thing we have to do is to make sure that Harper and his party will lose the next election. And really, do you think that Fort McMurray and the tar sand industry could last without the SPs ?

I am concerned for the safety of women/men in the industry, this bill is going to increase the risk level for women/men that are on the streets as well as anyone in the industry otherwise. With out the ability to communicate properly, we are putting ladies/men in the direct line of safety issues. Both Provider and client needs to know exactly what is being offered and what boundaries each provider has. With out communicating this, many may be raped, robbed, STD could rise and unwanted pregnancies may occur. At least with the old laws, women/men were not hidden so far into the shadows, and so when they required help, it was easy to find. But with this Bill, they will be so far removed that they will not be able to seek out help quickly. For indoor workers, this means we can not clearly state what we offer. Like for myself, I only offer some services. How can I now make sure my client understands this? What if he wants more than I offer and gets agitated? Am I going to now be in a situation that I can not handle and too scared to call the cops? What about ladies and men that work in an agency? What if these providers do not know yet how to work safely? Perhaps they are trying to get their life together, or off the streets? What if agencies now close because we can not advertise? These providers will end up on the streets! I am on Linked In. In addition to having a network on Linked In, I also have people from Linked In looking at my posting daily, and they mostly have photos. This gives you name, photo, and employer. Nothing is totally foolproof, but I found this very helpful. Simply ask your client to look at your Linked In page. Their visit on your page will be anonymously recorded on your records, and you have trackable information. Once you have this information, check out the company website.Sometimes they have photos, too. While you are there, google their name and company and look up "Images". The Linked In Photo, the Images Photo, and the man in the lobby should all match. I myself don't trust my instincts much when it comes to my newness, and my life. I listen for consistency. Does his story make sense? You can dig up lots of factoids on a Gmail address, too. How many followers, and who? Mostly male or female? hint - older clients tend not to have them. Is most activity, say, in BC, when he says he is from Ottawa? Consistency, women! And to spare you this snooping personally, think of switching to Hushmail. Observe the request for special favours, driving a distance, etc. You must be in control. Have him park where you can see his plates and again, make sure it is consistent with his story. If they are Florida plates, vamoosh. Have him meet you where you can observe him, such as a restaurant or even on the street. If it's wrong, you know what to do. If you go with him, vet in front of him. It is possible for a skilled jerk to find their way around anything, so there is one more method I endorse. This is something I have always been interested in! CoB/CoF is something I always offer with my services, and it just so happens that "multiple male partners" is a favorite pass time of mine.
