The best SP/MA encounters I've had have always been with women who I've clicked with. It's still about the sexual release, but that's so much better with someone I can talk to. I would caution the original poster though to remember that it is a service industry. I've talked to several providers who've been hounded by men who lost sight of the difference, guys who forgot that the "girlfriend experience" was on an hourly rate. One issue I've faced with going to a SC with clients is that the bouncers will check your ID and then say your full name (first and last) out loud to 'welcome' you into the club. This has happened to me three times now. With the gentlemen in question it was fine because they knew my name anyway, but if this happened with a first time client I would be upset. I spoke to those bouncers after we were seated at the table and they apologized, but it hasn't really changed the behaviour as bouncers come and go and I think it's in their training to do that. For the girls that work at SCs, is it possible to change that practice? Not sure how, but it's not ideal and I feel they should know better than to do that.

As an eight year member on the board I can tell you it has always been Ottawa, Winnipeg and the East Coast who have been the biggest contributors to the board. Over the last couple of years there has been a significant increase in contributions from members in both Kingston and Thunder Bay. Even though this is the only national board, we have always struggled to get members from all area of Canada to contribute to CERB. I will forever try to encourage members from all areas of the country to contribute here. Thank you deepstrut for a different perspective. You are correct that sometimes when people look in the wrong places to cure loneliness that they can come out feeling more lonely and empty than before they started and that some people blur the lines between reality and fantasy. This can happen not only with an SP but with anyone. At least with an SP there won't be extended drama should either happen. In these situations, it is on the person looking at the situation to know themselves and to determine what it is they need and want and if this might be an option to gain it or a potential risk. Some learning is about trial and error and some is about putting yourself in a safe supportive environment to gain knowledge. You don't learn how to do a job by trial and error, you learn in a classroom, through mentoring or job shadowing. You then take that knowledge into situations where you apply it and learn through action to improve it. Relationships are not completely trial and error. We talk to people who have been through it, we ask advice, we read articles and then we apply those in a learn to improve capacity. In your example of a kid who can't sing. Having the support of their mother believing in them is a huge thing but not the only thing. If the mother encourages practice and lessons they are gaining the knowledge and skill before stepping into other situations that require them to apply it. SP's are not here to rubber stamp especially if someone is looking to gain experience. They share their knowledge, provide direction and make suggestions in a safe supportive environment. There are many SP's and clients who have developed friendships and provide emotional support within the boundaries they set up. This says that for some people, this can be a good emotionally supportive outlet. Like everything, it's not for everyone and as you and others have said, take a hard look at what you want/need, risks, pros and cons and determine if it is the best course of action. For the record, when I comment in these threads, I am not trying to seduce anyone to visit me. I believe there is a world of potential and possibility out there that we should be open to. That we should see our sexual and intimate needs as self care and as important as other things and that we need to look within to determine what works and doesn't work for us and to ignore those who may or may not agree with us. The world is full of differing perspectives, thoughts, biases, morals, labels, triggers etc. We are responsible for ourselves and should feel no guilt in taking care of ourselves if no others are harmed. Different perspectives are valuable as they give us ideas and thoughts and hopefully give us more options than we had before.

I have had to delete two threads in the past 24 hours of people using cerb to vent about things that I like to refer to as AIRING OUT YOUR DIRTY LAUNDRY that is not the purpose of CERB and I must delete these posts and give out warnings for such things. For example... calling out a guy who is stalking you in hopes that he reads your thread about him on cerb (THIS WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED!). If you have a stalker CALL THE POLICE do not bring these problems (or encourage these people) to/on cerb. If it is a cerb member REPORT him/her to me and CALL the police. Posting about someone in public who is obviously unstable and harassing you will only make things worse and could encourage that person to escalate his/her attempts to harass you. If you have a TIFF with someone, keep it off cerb please. For example #2... If you work in a massage spa and as an escort on the site and you want to complain in public that guys are coming to see you in the massage spa and talking about your escorting (or looking for "extra's at the spa")... this is something you need to deal with privately not complaining on cerb about it. The point I am getting at here is cerb is NOT to be used as a place to vent, a place to call out other people or air out your dirty laundry. Some things are better dealt with in private or by the proper authorities.

I was recently in Kitchener and I walked by Lotus Spa at 991 King Street East. I was intrigued as I had never seen this place before; it must be new. I think it can be... not as an end itself, but as a means of helping you to make other, more permanent change in your life that will make you less lonely. Loneliness comes from the absence of people who share in your life. It's not the absence of people -- you can be surrounded by people, even married to someone, and yet still be lonely because they're not truly sharing who you are and what you care about. So the question becomes -- how can you add such people to your life? That can be tough, especially if your experiences to this point have resigned you to your fate; if you don't believe you're capable of emotional intimacy, or you feel you've lost that capacity you once had. Time with an SP is only temporary and brief, but the effects can be long-term. Just spending some time with someone who can be intimate, who can be sexual, who can be focused on you and pay attention to your desires and your body... that's therapeutic. It can remind you that you're capable of that kind of intimacy, and of its importance to you.
