Nathalie, thank you so much for all your amazing contributions to CERB over the past few years. :) You have started many wonderful thought-provoking conversations. Many of my favourite threads came from you. CERB is a better place because of your footprint. Taking a look back, here is an impressive collection of just some of your best: -Destigmatizing Clients - Any Suggestions? -On The Topic Of Recommendations -On The Topic of Higher/Lower Volume Providers -(Mis)understanding Introverts -The Importance of "Loving" As A Verb -The Perfect Kiss -How Do You Feel About Being Alone? -Support Me While I Orgasm You've also added some fun and lightheartedness with threads like Pick A Funny Someecard. And of course, our awesome blog update thread! Not to mention, all of your helpful and supportive posts and threads in the SP ONLY section. And of course, your beautiful and inspiring advertisements. :) Seriously, you rock. Thanks for spending this special part of your journey with us. Now go kick some vanilla world ass! :) xoxo

The definition of goddess varies. However for me, in this case, it means a woman who is greatly loved and admired. And that could not encompass my feelings for this woman and her kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness and generosity any more. She deserves to be cerb goddess, but she will always be my goddess... Midnight-Massage. Thank you for being you.

United we stand, divided we fall, no? I'm not saying don't write your MP's. I'm not saying, "do nothing." What I am trying to say is this: Don't throw sex workers who aren't like you under the bus in your efforts to show you're not like the stereotype. Write your MP's about how Bill C36 is harmful to sex workers and unconstitutional because I guarantee you, people like Joy Smith could give a sweet fuck if you're "happy"--in fact, she'll just assume you're lying. I say this with some experience since she said the very same to me during a radio interview on CBC. And lastly, unless you know me Jessica, don't ever presume to know what I am or am not doing for this cause. Although it's not a competition, I would like to point out that I've been an active and very outspoken member of the sex workers' rights movement for the last six years including using my real name to speak as a current sex worker. I was the Vice-Chair of a sex workers' rights org. When was the last time you put yourself out there like that? Were you at any of the protests against C36? When was the last time you went to a Dec. 17 vigil? We'll never get anywhere if you're bound and determined to set yourself apart from the rest of us. And for the record, this isn't personal. I'm not trying to attack you. I'm trying to tell you, from a position of experience, that you're going about this the wrong way, and that this has the potential to create even further divisions within the movement.

Good morning all! What a beautiful Sunday here in Halifax:icon_smile:!! You should all know by now and even if we have yet to meet that I take all members safety seriously and I truly care for you not to be ripped off, the victim of a Bait & Switch or worse. This is my Sexy Lexy reminder to always check your cities Warning Section and the Warning Sections of a city you may be visiting. I'd also like to give a shout out and thank you to our Cowboy Kenny, who's work has helped many hobbyists and we all appreciate what you do CK. Buy him a beer! I'm in NS and did to show my appreciation but I only wish we had a Cowboy like him here too but for now, I am doing my best to protect you all in NS from the Switch & Bait Fakes, when I catch it. Hobbyists and Providers, please don't ever hesitate or be ashamed to contribute to the Warning Sections. We need to work together on this. All my Love, Support, Hugs and Kisses, Lexy

I have to say, I find the direction this thread has gone to be profoundly depressing. I've been away from CERB for a couple of weeks, and almost the first thread I read on my return is people who I'd have expected to be cooperating - or at least broadly supportive of each other - sniping at each other over tactics and ideological purity. I fail to see how this is productive. I fail to see how the time and energy spent on this is better spent doing so, rather than being aimed at the abolitionists. Perhaps this is because I'm not really engaged in political activism myself; perhaps these internecine feuds really do serve some greater good, of which I'm not aware. But right now, I just can't see it. I happen think that people on both sides of this debate are doing a lot of good and useful work, and I'd love it if everyone could accept that the fact that someone else's views are not perfectly aligned with your own does not mean that they're an enemy that has to be shot down. But hell, what do I know?

You might ask them in advance what their goal is in talking to you. Sometimes they have a specific plan in mind - "let's interview someone from a group that supports the new law, and an expert who says it will endanger women, and someone in the industry". Maybe they are looking for a sex worker to say "Parliament does not understand the reality of sex work". Or maybe they want someone to say "I have been exploited all my life, thank heavens Parliament is helping me out". Or they might genuinely have no agenda from the start, but either way it could be worth trying to find out whether what you want to say is what they want to hear - it could matter. Also, take the lead from politicians and "stay on message". Decide what it is you want to say, and say it, no matter what. It makes no difference what their questions are, your answer should be the message you want to convey!

I hope that those who see the posts that are questioning some aspects of this effort pay attention to this part. No one is saying that making an organized effort of the anecdotal experiences of many consenting adult sex workers is the problem with this particular endeavour. If you do want to know what the original concern was, ask, but i won't waste my time repeating it when i can see clearly that people are not paying attention to what is in the description on the website itself of who is welcome to comment with their letters, and who is not. If those parts were changed, excised from the site and the explanatory threads introducing the site, I guarantee no one would say anything other than 'great job, i've sent my letter'. Then, having expressed these concerns, instead of cooperation and agreement that it is problematic and exclusionary, all I've seen is dismissal of those concerns, and a basic, if you don't like it, too bad for you attitude (not necessarily from MJL, but someone willing to speak on behalf of the site, but still, not helpful at all) Post July 11, by Pascale Robitaille, who saw the site without the benefit of an introduction from a sex worker she knew I am assuming https://www.facebook.com/groups/my.favorite.abolitionist/

There is a difference between adding narratives that highlight how sex work has been a positive employment choice, and comparing one tier to the other as saying they are "less than". I'm not against adding more voices to the experience of being in the sex industry. By all means, let's hear from as many different experiences as we can. I don't agree with comparing or differentiating ourselves, or having to legitimize our work by declaring ourselves as "happy" or "high class" or implying that mental health issues are a "class" issue.

If a bunch of clients blazed forward with a project trying to represent what they feel is the majority of clients and you knew that the public will paint you with that brush and you feel that while the intentions are pure but the method is flawed and will bring a negative response and actually be USED AGAINST clients, would you voice your concerns? Just because they say "if you don't like it don't participate" doesn't mean that the words you don't like and don't agree with won't be used AGAINST YOU by the abolishment groups. It's not squabbling, it's others trying to have their voice heard and fearing the reaction from outside sources because of the words of others! I've explained how I feel about this and why on other forums, that is all we can do. But guys don't criticize us for voicing our concerns! This affects us too, we have a right to share our feelings. Unfortunately the outward reaction by those who are in charge of this group is apparent dismissal so far. I truly hope that changes because it's going to drive a rift between groups of women that should be listening to each other and trying to work TOGETHER.

This will be a short one, because, at this moment, I can't bring myself to write the many paragraphs I'd like in order to express how I feel. Perhaps this says it best: LOVE is enough: though the World be a-waning, And the woods have no voice but the voice of complaining, Though the sky be too dark for dim eyes to discover The gold-cups and daisies fair blooming thereunder, Though the hills be held shadows, and the sea a dark wonder, And this day draw a veil over all deeds pass'd over, Yet their hands shall not tremble, their feet shall not falter; The void shall not weary, the fear shall not alter These lips and these eyes of the loved and the lover. William Morris As long as I feel so deeply attached to someone else, I have nothing to offer another. Love is not finite, but my time and attention is, and I feel I owe it all to him. I hope never to awaken from this dream in which my solitude, though not erased, is suddenly made bearable by the selfless friendship of a kindred spirit. Many thanks to all of you who have treated me with such kindness and respect. I leave with fond memories. To my colleagues who have risen to the level of lifelong friends: stay in touch! To those I've met or spoken to: all the best! To the community: stay strong, fight hard, it's a long battle against stigma and prejudice, but those of us who know the truth and can speak owe the effort to those that are less fortunate. I depart in order to pursue a happiness greater than any I thought possible, a future as fulfilling as the dreams sold to me in childhood fairy tales. Life is long and arduous, thus I refuse to let any small spark of joy pass me by unexplored. Farewell, with my greatest and warmest wishes that you too find such delight in life! XOXO Ksenia

Hello everybody, Thought I would introduce myself and ask for some advice. A bit about me: I am 26, ex-military, vegan, an animal rights and autism awareness activist, and a high school tutor in my spare time. I am based in St. John's, NL, and completely new to this kind of scene. I recently went through a series of very bad experiences relationship-wise and am no longer interested in traditional relationships but I still want to develop meaningful connections and add some adventure to my life. However, I have no idea where to begin. I have Autism and even though I am highly intelligent and have a lot of 'worldly' experience (mostly with hardship) I have a great deal of difficulty with even simple social interaction, let alone the rules for contacting, meeting and interacting with an SP. I was wondering if anybody would be kind enough to tell me what things I should do to prepare, to expect, what questions to ask, etc, even if it is something that is usually taken for granted that people know. I have been researching a lot of stuff on these boards but I usually need instructions to be extremely specific to be able to understand. I have only ever been with one woman, who herself had some serious mental issues, so I would consider my sexual experience rather limited, even though I am confident with what I do know. I was also wondering if there were any ladies in my area who enjoy working with 'new' guys and teaching them things about this industry and sex in general. Thanks!

Yeah, if other sex workers think your site is an abolitionist joke site, you've got problems. But they want to make this all about the name "happy hookers." I don't care if you want to self-identify that you're a happy hooker. Cool. Go nuts. But again, the problem is that arguing that you're "happy" in your work and deserve rights alienates anyone who doesn't love this job and is doing it because it was the best available option, or people who are merely ambivalent--they do it because it is good money, etc. Not everyone loves being a sex worker but they still deserve rights. And let's not forget, a sex worker recently testified at the JC and Conservative MP Stella Ambler said, "you sound like a happy sitcom hooker." Abolitionists use that language. Sex worker orgs have all gotten together and we have a clear message that we are trying to send and it isn't "we're happy, so give us rights." It's "the laws harm us, don't kill us with your fucked up laws."

I struggle to believe that they don't read anything we are saying, but they are selectively replying to certain things and completely ignoring the other things. To say I'm shitting on a sex worker group pretty much proves that point. Either she doesn't comprehend what's being said or she's ignoring it and trying to misdirect by lashing out at me/others. The name is the least of my concerns, it's pretty simple and not clever really (done before, used against us already). Frankly if they can't see how this divisivion of us/them is hypocritical and harmful then I question their ability to really spearhead anything progressive. To completely ignore or disregard the legitimate concerns of other workers who are doing their best to remain diplomatic in the face if a higschool attitude of "don't like it? Too bad! We don't care!" is again telling. Emily Muse let me join you in your shock at the way this is being handled! (We can perhaps have a shock party? Wear party hats?) None of is said this IDEA is bad. Do not get confused, we should have representation (well we already do, so we could have MORE representation) but the execution of the idea has some issues that I think will work against you in the end game. Where's the democracy here?

My CERB Goddess Of The Day today is Miss Jessica Lee No, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her. But her website www.happyhookersofcanada.com is a forum for like minded SP's and has an avenue to express how being a professional companion has been a positive choice for them in their life. Having a forum like this allows ladies to express how choosing to be a professional companion has been positive for them, in their life, instead of being stereotyped as a victim by MacKay and the rest of the intolerant CPC and religious zealots. And as a side note, after reading Jessica's letter on how being an SP has been a positive and empowering choice for her, I feel less like a john and perv ;-), and more like a gentleman who enjoys female companionship :-) RG

    |Go look at the In the News section and click on the links to the various other articles. Make notes of the points that you want to make, and in the way you want them to come out. Make note also of the legal section thread, as knowing that certain things are already illegal, and will continue to be legal is very important when reporters are asking questions about C36. say things like "in spite of what the Rescue Industry is trying to get people to believe ..... " :)

Sorry, Jess. I don't believe in advocating that one type of work is "awful" compared to another. There are "high-end" escorts who have mental health or addiction issues, just as there are street-based workers who freely choose their work. We don't look down upon someone working at McDonalds or bartending to get their next fix. We don't assume everyone who is a server is a drug user. Why continue to uphold these stereotypes? Yes, social issues such as affordable housing, accessible education, health care, etc. should be addressed but not at the expense of a group of people. We can tell our stories of how sex work has benefitted us, how this is a legitimate enployment for many, but we don't need to do so while comparing "us" to "them ".

This girl is super hot! I decided to meet this girl because her ad on BP looked TGTBT and some people on cerb were asking about her but no one seemed to TOFT yet, and I'm not afraid to walk away from a bait+switch if it happens. As it turned out, she is real, her pics are real and she's even better in person. As you can see from the ad, she has a great body but the pics don't include her incredibly beautiful face! This girl could be a model and/or porn star if she chose to be. She has enhanced breasts but you can't really tell. They're very well enhanced and feel natural (if you're skeptical, go see for yourself!) She is very friendly, talkative and charming. This girl has it all. I won't write the story of the encounter itself, but had to get the word out that this girl is one of those BP TGTBT posts that really isn't TGTBT. I encouraged her to become part of the cerb community but of course it will be up to her to make that plunge. If I had more disposable income, I'd be going to see this girl almost every day. Additional Comments: the link to her ad broke in my post. I was very fortunate to be Miss Evangeline's last client at CMJ! We had been talking back and forth via PM for sometime and were finally able to set up an appointment a while back. When I arrived at CMJ, I was greeted by a true "girl next door". Evangeline is cute as hell and I was really looking forward to getting her alone in to the room. Once in the room we chatted for a bit, realized we had clicked and off with the clothes! I must say Evangeline is very sexy. Nice toned body and an ass to die for!!! I just couldn't resist getting my hands all over her glorious bum...truly it was a sight to behold. As always it's YMMV. I certainly had a great time with Evangeline and would definitely repeat should she be around again.

Well put, Berlin! However, I do think that the name matters a great deal. You see, when I first heard about the organization, I didn't even bother to read any further as I immediately dismissed it - without even clicking on the link - as something to which I didn't wish to associate. It was only later, after reading criticisms about the divisions, that I went back and read it. And, yes, the wording on the website most certainly is divisive. I hope that it is changed; however, I will let others who have already made that point continue that specific argument. I guess the point that I am making about the name is that any organization's name is a point of entry. Upon reading the name, the reader will decide either: (1) to learn more; or (2) to step away. Because the name reinforces a stereotype, it will put many people off and as such it is counter-productive. Lastly, as Berlin has mentioned, and I have also mentioned on terb, Stella Ambler took the opportunity to try to humiliate a witness at committee by comparing her life to a "tv sitcom of Happy Hookers." This is a link to the actual tape: http://www.cpac.ca/en/programs/in-committee-house-of-commons/episodes/34169014/ The specific comment was made just over ninety minutes into the committee (move the bar along the bottom) at about 90:50. I think that anyone who wants to support this cause should see the clip and decide for themselves how they feel about a group appropriating an invective from the Conservatives. In my opinion, you are making it far too easy for them to attack you. I have heard it mentioned several times that it is empowering to take back a term. This may be true in some instances; however, I do not think that respectable society outside of the industry is ready to hear the term "hooker" being used cavalierly. It will likely put many of them off - in the same way that it put me off - and they will simply shut out your message. By using the term hooker, even in the playful way that you have suggested, seems to be a strategy that will only be effective with some supporters of the industry who already believe that Bill C-36 is a problem. Would it not be a better strategy to elicit the support of those who are undecided - the all important centre voters, of whom there are many. Please reconsider changing both the name and the divisive wording. Lastly, I will leave on a positive note. Should you be kind enough to be willing to change the name and the wording, it would be my pleasure to assist you, should you require it, with some of the writing as I very much enjoy writing.

Do you people even read what has been posted? This isn't about you, personally, any of you, despite the fact that many of you have gotten extremely defensive of the criticism provided--criticism which I might add that has been completely ignored in favour of "we need all our voices to be heard." I'm not saying don't speak up. I never once said that. I said that the way the letter was written was problematic in that it created divisions between so-called "happy hookers' and survival workers. And that survival workers were being thrown under the bus in an effort to show that hey, there are happy hookers who love their job! I understand the instinct to say, hey, I'm not addicted to drugs! I'm not homeless! I'm not like them! I understand, I really do. I made similar comments when I first got into sex work organizing. But those comments really are extremely problematic for reasons I've outlined in previous posts. There is a reason the international sex workers' rights movement doesn't use that argument. Because a) it doesn't work and b) it harms other sex workers. I would sincerely suggest that MJL contact a local sex workers rights org. There were plenty of form letters that you could write to your MP that did not throw survival workers under the bus, but rather explained the harms of C36. Not to mention, it's a bit insulting the way MJL acts like she's the only sex worker to ever think of speaking out. Did you miss the op-eds from Celine Bisette? Or what about the letter that a Maggie's board member named Rachel wrote, which was quoted extensively during the second reading? There were a number of sex workers I know who wrote op-eds under pseudonyms such as the piece by Vanessa D'Alessio, who is what everyone here would term a very upscale escort, who works in Toronto (Vanessa is not her work name or her real name).

I too love massage porn especially the scenes where the masseuse is not really working in an MP but finds tje guy hot and vice versa and things just get out of hand. This for instance is really hot. http://www.porntube.com/videos/deepmassageturnsdeepfuckdanadearmond_1212460 Maybe this should be posted in the videos section but just me 2 cents.

Hello all! My name is Emily & Im working with Jessica on this movement. I wanted to address the post above...Under no circumstances should survival sex work be ignored! It absolutely needs to be addressed, treated, councelled, and advocated for. This Happy Hooker Movement's purpose is to express the side of the non-survival sex workers experience. It has not been told in the entire Committee debate. As much as there is a sector of the industry that is full of abuse & entrapment...there is also the entire side of consensual empowered sex workers! I personally believe these 2 subjects need to be tackled as seperate issues. Not everyone needs saving, but we all need support. Sex work is painted with a brush with 1 color. Jessica & I are working to expose the many facets of the industry. In addition, im preparing a paper for the Senate and these letters of success stories will weigh heavily as evidence of how sex work can work safely & successfully. I encourage all ladies and men to write!

I have scars, some with funny stories and some without. Not one person I've met intimately has commented on them negatively. Some don't ask at all. Some ask. Those who would mind... well, I doubt they'd pass your screening requirements anyway ;)

This is such a blessing and a gift. I have a friend who did this exact thing as well a few years back for a close friend of his. His scar is very miniscule and his recovery time was short. He is still enjoying life as he did before with no negative impact. His friend is likewise enjoying life again compared to where they were. We all have scars and marks; these are the stripes we have earned going through life. Badges of honor reminding us how strong we are and what we have endured to get where we are. If anyone will judge us negatively on these or consider us "less anything" they are not worthy of our time. Life is too short to be impacted by small things and small minds.

I haven't been around much in the last 5-6 months and I have no idea who has been mentioned in this thread but here are my 2(.5) Goddesses of the day, all for their own unique individual qualities: JoyfulC Lexy Grace ... ... ... LeeRichards I know, I know. Lee is not an SP or a woman but he can be my sexy Goddess any time he wants! ;)

I'd like to nominate our very own Kathryn Bardot. She walks among us mere mortals and we are glad.

STOP. :) Relax and take a breath. Nothing is happening, and the cops are not setting up an elaborate surveillance upon you. Your brief tryst was a big deal for you, but the rest of the world didn't notice because it is really quite busy doing other, entirely unrelated things. Did you have a good time with during your appointment? Yes? Great. Let that memory be the thing you take from it. Now take a moment to observe your slight case of paranoia-induced fear, laugh at it quietly for a moment, then throw it away, and move on. ;) And happy Thanksgiving!

I think people are getting worried and making way too much of this walking past the front desk. For all the front desk staff know, you checked in when they were off shift. I have gone by the front desks of hotels many a time, including one where the front desk is more situated in a hallway you have to walk through to get to the elevators. I just walked by like I belonged there never questioned. Staff are used to seeing people come and go, even for a romantic rendezvous ;-) hey that's life. Just walk into the hotel like you belong there. The only way you'll get questioned is if you draw attention to yourself. If hotels started questioning everyone, guests and guests of guests, they'd soon be out of business RG

I may be cynical when I say that very rarely is the beloved more than a shaping spirit for the lover's dream. And perhaps such a thing is enough. To be a muse may be enough. The pain is when the dreams change, as they do, as they must. Suddenly the enchanted city fades and you are left alone again in the windy desert. As for your beloved, she didn't understand you. The truth is, you never understood yourself." - from "Sexing the Cherry" By Jeanette Winterson I think we all fall prey to this, at various points in our life. We are all constantly changing, and it is important we always give the people in our lives the opportunity to fall in love with us over and over again (be they friends, family, or lovers). 'Loving' is a verb, after all. We also need to make sure that we do not grow so attached to people that we do not allow them the latitude necessary to change, and become whoever it is they want to be in that present moment. Just thought I would share my thoughts on such a beautiful passage... What kind of experiences have you all had, that reinforce, or conversely, that contradict, this passage?
