Bill C-36 is many things. It is an imposition by government of their morality agenda. It criminalizes sexual behavior between consenting adults. On this Labor Day when you hear Members of Parliament applaud our Canadian landscape, recognize that not all Canadians have cause to celebrate this day.

My reason to refer to the negotiating thread is because first, there is going to be overlap between bartering and negotiating, and some points in that thread would be appropriate to consider in bartering. And second, Summer posted (copied/pasted) I believe this discussion was brought up before and mod would not approve it Which was in reference to negotiating. I stated that the lady determines her rate, and it is up to her to determine if bartering is an acceptable form of payment. If a client/prospective client brings it up, then it starts reeking, IMHO of negotiating. I didn't say no to bartering, just it should be up to the lady to suggest it as an option, and there are risks to a mutually beneficial arrangement of barter (an encounter versus reciprocal services) Just my opinion RG

Dear Cerb members, I am visiting Halifax this week and wanted to address a concern I have with another provider that has been spreading negative rumors about me and attacking my character wherever she goes, to almost every gentleman she meets. I have done some bartering with two clients that are/were long term. One it turn up to be horrible. The other one is still a good regular of mine, he once paid for a trip for me (solo) and I gave him x amount of sessions. Someone paid for a session for my tattoo one and got x amount of time But it's not something I would consider on a regular base and with new people.

I don't offer birthday specials but once I have established regulars and they tell me it's their birthday, I will do something nice for them within our session. I think this is only appropriate if you know the person. How is an SP going to know it's someone's birthday? Are they going to show her their driver's license? I'm thinking probably not. Many people ask for discounts.. I'm a student.. okay, good for you but I charge equally to all my clients. A lot of entitlement these days imo. I hate to poo poo this idea and ruin the fantasy but this is our job and how we make our living. I've noticed lately that a lot of guys calling are expecting way less for than what we offer. I don't think the intention of this thread and that are the same. Sure some negotiation would be involved with a barter system, but not in the way the other question was asked. That had to do with haggling down prices, which is down right insulting in my book. That implies a hobbiest looked at a posted rate and asking for a lesser price. Bartering simply implies alternative means of compensation than money that is agreed upon by both parties. So what if an sp posted in an ad saying: my rate is x $, however "if you're a mechanic, I'm having trouble getting my engine revving", or "if you know about roofing, I'm getting wet in all the wrong places", would there be an issue with that? Obviously it would have to be agreed upon by both. Showing up with a vase that you figure is worth a certain amount would not be cool if she is expecting cash. But otherwise, why not? Modern currency is merely a means to standardize transactions and ultimately, make them fairly taxable. I don't see an issue if it is good for both and agreed upon. It may however open doors for the other type of haggling mentioned above. Edit: sorry, meant to quote rg's original post. Stupid smart phones. ;)

I would just add to MightyPen's comment that since it is the lady who determines what her rate is, it is up to her to offer bartering as an option for paying the donation. It isn't up to a client/prospective client to offer to pay via bartering, it reeks of negotiating. And most ladies have it in their websites no negotiating. It would be tricky to, pardon the pun, negotiate a bartering arrangement where both parties have a mutually benefited. The simplest thing is to pay the lady's rate. If the lady needs a certain service she has the money from paid encounters to pay for the service. I think it's totally fine if both parties are comfortable with it. What two people choose to exchange is entirely between them. After all, what's the difference between asking for $500, versus something you both agree is worth $500? Part of the trick, though, is agreeing beforehand on what's really worth $500, plus ensuring that Service B really does get performed following the delivery of Service A. There can be a lot of practical problems making service-barter work in real life. Currency is immediate and convenient, which is one of the reasons it's so popular in general. ;) Incidentally I voted "no opinion" because I don't think is a bad idea, nor a great idea, just a bit tricky and situational.

Normally I wait a few days to do a recommendation to think how to present it the best way, since this lady is still in town thought I would do this tonight. The way I screen is almost entirely on my intuition but I do not accept blocked calls. I screen clients and they don't even know I'm doing it. It's called my sixth sense and it's very well honed. I pick on so many different things when I speak to someone for a few minutes. They could be so polite to me but my radar is always on alert. I may pick up on something they say and it will bring up a red flag. I've very good at reading people and this is the way I screen. I am established and reputable enough and I think if this bill becomes law, many men will be looking for established ladies and not risk the fly by nights or unknown ones you see on other sites. Other hobbyists will wait it out to see what the outcome will be in terms of how law enforcement will handle these new laws. Do you really think LE has the budget to set up clients regularily? I'm sure there will a few men who will be made examples of by LE intially but I'm sure most hobbyists will set out and do their research first instead of calling any unknown Jane Smith from BP for example. That is a site where you will see a big change especially with explicit advertising. My advice to hobbyists is to get a secret hobby phone and not in your real name. For example, other providers are not always straightforward or forthcoming about their clients - at least, in this city! :icon_biggrin: Cell phones are untraceable, you know the drill. I link my postings back to Linked In where possible. Most of my clients have postings on Linked In. You can spot the dodgy ones - no photo, few connections, ridiculous job. And of course, you can expand your screening research from there. If the guy at the door doesn't look like Mr. Linked In, you know what to do. Of course, this is not for everybody. And it won't tell you about temprament or behaviour. But he will know that you know who he is, and that couts for something. I like the comment earlier about trust. If he is forthcoming and not the kind to mock screening, the trust element goes up. After all. we wouldn't be in business long if we violated it, would we?

I find this thread very interesting going forward with possible changes to prositution laws coming up. Screening will be huge, as I find more and more ladies are using a preferred method,their own site, or other sites that assist ladies for clients to be screened for their sole protection. Regardless of what method the lady uses currently, I can see more requirement for stricter screening than it is now, that is just my opinion. I have absolutely no issue with giving proper screening methods from a provider, as it only makes the transition between both go so much smoother. I use currently P411 for here in Canada and also used for the USA, I have a good number of "okays" on P411 and it works so well well when booking with a VIP courtesan may it be here in our country or in that fact another country. If things change going forward, and guys don't want to give that information to a provider, guys could be SOL. Just my take on it.

When I screen, I can be particular. I find that hotels here ask for the name of the person you are trying to connect to (the upscale ones), so I do ask for the name the room is booked under, otherwise I can't verify your actually there. Safety is a huge concern to me, I use discretion, I'm not going to call your cell phone unless you ask me to, and I'm not going to get into random conversations with you, but providers have to give out lots of details, yet we don't get a lot of answers back to our questions. I'm inviting you into my home sometimes, I want to know who's coming to me.

The ladies do deserve our thanks, gratitude and appreciation. I remember every lady and encounter I've had since embarking on this lifestyle. It isn't every lady who can be a professional companion, so for those ladies who are, and provide a intimate escape, yes, a thank you is well deserved. I know seeing companions has brought a certain joy to my life. And for a lady agreeing to see us after we initiate contact to her to have an encounter, her need for screening is understandable. Until we meet in person for the very first time, irrespective of emails, pm's etc, we are strangers. Screening is a case of the lady's safety and well being versus a man's privacy...well safety and well being trump privacy IMHO. And if privacy is an issue for a man, then contact and see a companion who requires less information from a potential client.
