Fair enough. But, I wanted to reorient this piece as many of us workers are hearing a lot of the 'should have left well enough alone' bit. I've had clients express this in person and it has been playing out in other online forums. And, Canadian prostitution legislation certainly did not leave us well alone. In many ways, this reflects a very real experience of fear and frustration on the part of clients, and we SPs care about this very much, but 'the show will go on', and it is the workers who have been living under the greatest threat of the law for decades. So, yeah, many of us are sensitive about this piece.

The laws still needed to be challenged, bottom line. The fact that the decision was handed down at the time it was is highly unfortunate. No one could have predicted what the timing would be as the challenge was several years in the making. The fact we are in the midst of the threat of Bill C-36 should not deter us from appreciating the sacrifices of my colleagues who launched this Charter Challenge, the historical significance of the case, and our related efforts as a Movement. So, if the Bill passes, sex workers will be in there like a dirty shirt launching new challenges, I assure you.

I know 2 RMTS.. one is a male and one is a female. The female told me that a guy once turned over and expected a happy ending. She left the room to talk to one of her co-workers to try and get this guy out of there. When she and another co-worker had returned to the room, there he was lying on the table masturbating. The male told me he had one woman lay rip off the sheets they use to cover clients and lay there naked propositioning him. What is stopping this woman when she leaves to go and tell the front desk that he sexually harassed her or inappropriately touched her? Absolutely nothing. He had to tell her that she was making him uncomfortable and that the sheet is used for a reason. This is utterly ridculous and disrespectful to these men and women who spend 2 or 3 years going to school for training and have to put up with that nonsense. Some people are idiotic and ignorant!

Today I had the opportunity to confront myself. I went to a local bakery on Elgin St. and purchased something for $2.95. Not a large amount, however, I believed I gave the owner a 20$ bill. Once back in my apartment, I'd realized that I gave him a ten. I went back to this gentlemans bakery and proceeded to explain what had happened. I apologized for MY MISTAKE, as I really thought I gave a $20. I gave the gentlemen his correct change, I actually thought about not going, as I was tired, feeling lazy etc., when I realized, hey, you'd not appreciate this in a reverse scenario. Hands down decision. Happy ending: the gentleman was happy for me wrestling with my conscious. It was a great, up lifting moment. Sometimes it pays not to be lazy, when you see the happy, enlightened face of honesty.

It may look strange but in fact, contrary to stereotype, seeing escorts is not about anonymous sexual encounters. And screening/verification commonplace, for me at least, appears more the rule, not exception A prospective client wants to be intimate with a lady. Intimacy begins with trust. And a lady, until she knows you beyond a board handle, disposable cell phone number and email address (also easy to get) is not likely to book a date with you. In my experience, most ladies I see screen/verify which has required my giving my real name, board handle confirmed by PM, cell phone number and email, and of course a reference by an established professional companion You want to see a lady (who has never met you) alone intimately. You want and expect her to trust you based on your word that you are and will be a good client. But you don't trust her with your personal information. Her concern first and foremost is her safety and security, and second, whether you will be compatible. Your concern, is your privacy To put another way, you argue concern that the request for information isn't done by a provider, but by the client's wife. Let's put the shoe on the other foot. For the companion, her concern is that the prospective client is really a legitimate client, and that you aren't the next Robert Pickton. A lady's safety trumps a man's privacy each and every time SP's don't necessarily need to know each other, but they do know of each other. And a verifiable reference is done with the lady's name, board profile, email and her website. Ladies who screen don't for the most part use SP's booked off BP/CL. They also don't consider escort agencies a reliable reference. They want a reference from an independent escort with her own webpage etc. Is a clients wife going to go to the trouble of creating a escort's webpage to nab her husband acting on her suspicion alone that her husband sees escorts. And how does she even know he would pick her (under guise of an SP) to contact with so many SP's to choose from...really a far fetched scenario JMHO A wife would have better luck checking her husband's history on the computer first or if that concerned, install keylogging software on her husbands computer Ladies will admit to knowing you as a former client if you, the former client asked that lady to provide you with a reference to a companion you wish to see. They release information to that third party with your consent and after you request it. Of course a lady will have to remember you as a client, because she destroys all contact information about you after your encounter which is why a lady you saw say four years ago, just once, won't likely give you a reference but one you saw at the most a year ago would be a good reference. The only exception to discretion is if a guy turned out to be a bad date, then the lady may have the guys name added to the black list/bad date list I don't know how long you have been involved in this lifestyle, but I've been involved since 2010 (not all that long compared to most) but most of the ladies I've contacted for dates, starting in 2010, required full verification/screening including a reference and my real name. Until we met in person we didn't know each other. But with that information given, they accepted my request for a date. And I trust the ladies far more with my information than I do the government, cable companies, bank, phone company etc At the end of the day you have to do what is right for you. But by the same token, remember the ladies will do the same. I also foresee far more use of screening/verification once C36 passes Anyhow, a rambling RG

One of the arguments for C36 is that it will combat sex trafficking. It is MacKay et al that create this perception. The point, I guess I poorly made is that laws exist already. C36 isn't needed to combat something when other laws already exist to combat it I've never argued street prostitution isn't going to be targeted, in fact I argued LE's focus is likely going to be on street prostitution. In terms of LE resources it's require little resources with high return (arrests) as opposed to going after a client and courtesan who act discreetly . But for all the fears abounding about C36 I just wonder why no one, well relatively few were in fear of existing laws, such as no incalls, no agencies (living off the avails) and so on And even MacKay's speech about C36 seemed all focused on street prostitution. My opinion is that those who se escorts/courtesans discretely are not going to be targeted by LE. And as long as talk of sex and money is kept out of any communications be it email/text/pm/phone then what can you be charged with? Anyhow... RG

I find myself agreeing with MN2. This wrong headed and dangerous legislation, I think, changes the game and may require some drastic action. If the hypocrites are outed (as RG alluded - we could only hope) it won't be because some provider is being unprofessional but because this legislation is a dangerous and thoughtless attack on innocent people. I don't think there are many people on this board who consider C-36 and the process it is following to be 'professional' in any way.

Terri Jean Bedford has caused a stir and issued a threat as may be seen HERE, and isn`t it of interest that the hearings are back on the news again. I sincerely and respectfully disagree with the comments that were written about that article arguing that her action is wrong and unprofessional and unethical. I gave this opinion once before when the topic was in the news and the silence was understandably deafening, but I shall repeat it. IF someone truly believes that Bill C-36 will cause physical harm and or death to even one sex worker, then I argue that taking whatever legal action is required to prevent that from happening is not only acceptable but also a responsibility. If that includes naming a client then so be it. If I threatened a sex worker with physical harm then the fact that I had been a paying client should NOT give me immunity. Threatening to release the names of clients who are planning an action that will kill women is not enough. Doing it after the bill is passed is irresponsible. I argue that if her statements are true then the information should be released immediately to the press before the law is passed and then let the press do the job that they have thus far chosen not to do. Their are ways to do it. In 1974 Deep Throat, whoever he is is unknown to this day, along with press investigation brought down a presidency. I do believe that the hypocrisy of some of these government members, NOT their use of legal sex workers, could cause this government to fall, and this bill along with it. I am writing a totally politically incorrect comment that most will disagree with. I know that. There is no way that any sex worker or perhaps any client should publicly agree with this. All I ask is that all sex workers ask themselves where does client privilege stop and protecting your own life and lives of fellow sex workers begin. Sorry if I made anyone feel uncomfortable. I don`t think that this is just a game if lives are on the line. MN2 (who apparently is not such a nice guy.)

Most ladies always have times of the days or days were they offer a reduced fee.. check the adds.., but also be realistic font expect the service to be half the regular rate or for free. . We all have difficult times and bills to pay.. remember you workat any job.. how about your employer comes to you and say.. I am having rough times. . Can I pay you half per hr? Or even 2 dollar less? How would you feel?

As a client I guess I want the best of both worlds I want a discrete private location with parking that will ensure I am not seen by family or friends...but I want that private discrete location to be public enough to afford me the safety and security I want especially if I'm meeting someone new. Lolol... yea I know we want everything. So a Upscale Condo or apartment building in a good part of town with parking that has security features like buzz to enter and/or cameras would be fine for me. I don't see a building with a doorman as a real good option both because it would make some clients nervous and would draw attention to the SP. Just my opinion.

I worked out of my apartment in a secured building. My only advice is to consider your neighbors immediately around you. No one may notice who's coming and going at the building entrance but people on your floor will. Just be careful, there are many people out there with nothing better to do than cause trouble with righteous tongues.

I don't understand this perception that LE doesn't already investigate crimes related to the sex trade. They do. LE does have squads devoted to human trafficking, prostitution, and underage exploitation. The police already do place officers undercover as streetwalking prostitutes. The police already do scan prostitution ads on the internet and investigate cases where they suspect underage exploitation. The RCMP does commit resources to fighting human trafficking. Yes, LE has limits to their resources and will continue to have limits to their resources. But having limited resources isn't the same as having no resources at all. Yes, LE does not bust everybody who breaks existing laws, but they do make arrests.

Just remember, yes it is in the political limelight in Ottawa, but does anyone really believe that cops are sitting in their cruisers eagerly awaiting the passing of C36? For LE it will be business as usual If LE were true believers, they wouldn't need C36 Since living off the avails is illegal, why are there so many escort agencies and no big police raids A lot of ladies offer incall dates. Why no raids on a lady's incall...easy enough to find a lady that offers a date at her home or hotel Human trafficking, well if such a big LE concern, why not investigate and enforce it now. There are already laws on the books Same holds true with underage prostitution, if such a big LE concern, why not investigate and enforce it now As for reading your email and looking at websites you view, internet users privacy has been upheld by SCC http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/internet-users-privacy-upheld-by-canada-s-top-court-1.2673823 Cops would need a warrant to search your internet use (and I assume email too, need internet for that) To get enough evidence to go to a judge requires a fair bit of investigation before hand. I really don't see police having the resources and time for it...they don't now, what's going to change Those of us discreetly practicing this lifestyle (two consenting adults behind closed doors) and JMO really have nothing to fear. It's going to be street prostitution that's LE focus I know, I must sound like a record skipping LOL RG

I expect apartment buildings to have a locked door with an intercom system. I also assume I am on camera in the lobby. (Nothing illegal is taking place in the lobby.) This is standard and I have no issue with this. If you are talking about a doorman (doorperson?) and having to indicate the person you are visiting, that would likely make me uncomfortable, (and would likely cause suspicion for the SP after a while) but intercoms are standard and safer for all involved. No issue there for me.

I am probably missing something here but with all due respect this reference practice looks strange to me. Or it works inside the elite circle of escorts and clients knowing each other (but then reference is a nonsense). 1) Discretion is a must in this area. My understanding was that service provider should never admit to any third party even knowing client. Am I wrong? 2) Client usually does not give the real name. How client is identified for the reference - by some description, by phone number? So, provider keeps some records of the clients? 3) Not all service providers know each other. How can you be sure that reference is asked by other provider and not by client's wife? Being occasionally a client for many years, I always avoided escort asking for reference because saw this practice as not safe for me as a client.

Hosting at, or Hosting from, who cares, the magic word that counts is hosting. When the lady writes she is hosting that means an incall Consideration, Honorarium, Rates, Donation, Gift who cares...any of these terms means the same and always easy to locate on a website Upscale incall location. How many complaints have I read from guys who went to an incall that was a seedy hotel/motel or apartment. By writing upscale the lady is letting prospective clients know the incall isn't a seedy hotel/motel or apartment. I don't know about you but I don't want a date in an incall that's a dive You may want to cut to the chase as you put it. To me a lady's website should reflect her personality and give me an idea if she and I would click A website shouldn't be reduced to "just the facts", the website should show a lady as unique from other ladies. I suppose cutting to the chase, all you'd need is one cell phone photo full front is enough. Terrible these ladies get professional photographers and have galleries. All the time it takes going through all those pictures makes it harder to cut to the chase. Something that could be done with one picture Funny thing, generally speaking, in my experience, ladies who have a website which reflects their personality, shows a bit of effort have been ladies I've had great dates with. Those with minimalist websites, little effort, seemed to be cavalier about encounters, viewing me, the client, as nothing more than a wallet Anyhow, a long winded rambling RG

Another illustration of the utter pointlessness of attempts to prevent people from getting it on with other people, even when there's money involved. http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/sex-marathon TLDR version: Porn star wants implants, fucks 25 guys in a night (on film) to fund it. Usual suspects try to shut it down, and fail due to some fairly simple "paying for X, not Y" arrangements. I really wonder when people in various positions of power and influence are going to work out that this kind of thing will happen, has always happened, and won't stop just because they disapprove? As far as I can see, their efforts to prevent this event had only two results: it was moved from an RV to an apartment (which doesn't strike me as a bad thing) and it resulted in a lot of free publicity.

Tonight at Playmates I met another lovely young lady who is also new to dancing. She is a good friend of Hayley (the young blonde reviewed at the top of last page) and her name is Teasy. I had my eyes on her for the past 4 weeks (she started 5 weeks ago). She has a cute face, her hair is colored red and she has a soft fair skin, a pair of cute small but sexy boobs and friendly once she overcomes her shyness. She genuinely loved dancing for me and I spend quite some time with her and had great time too. Maybe not the highest mileage girl for PM's standard nevertheless she provided all the services that I require the most. And also she is a very honest young lady as I asked her how many songs and usually most dancers up the number by one or two but she was very honest in all occasions and passed the honesty test with honor.

I don't mean to be a dick but your priorities are completely out of sync. If you don't have the money to get massages, do not get massages. This industry is does not provide things that you need to survive, it provides things you want. It is supported off clients disposable income, if you don't have the disposable part, please use it on things you need, not things you want. Save up until you can afford it, don't lose self-respect and ask for handouts. Go to pornhub and rub one out when you are feeling the urge to spend money you don't have and tell me if that doesn't make you see the situation a little bit clearer. You can survive man, focus on the here and now, save up, work on getting more income, then in the future get all the massages you want without the dread of knowing you don't have money for food for the rest of the month.

Thanks a lot Mod very good info. I would also like to add a new feature most web browsers these days have, is the incognito feature This feature opens pages that you can view and anything that happens won't appear in your browser history or search history. Bookmarks you create will be preserved, however. Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of surveillance by secret agents or people standing behind you. But the only thing needed to be done is that cookies are not cleared until you close all incognito tabs. I recommend people read and learn more about it

A few years ago, I was living in the heart of Toronto's gay community. As I am an open minded person, I have never had any prejudices against gays. I had had coworkers who were gay and it never bothered me. However, for the first time, I had the opportunity to get to know gay men personally because my neighbours were gay. I made it clear to them that I was not gay and I became friends with them. Getting to know gay men was an interesting experience. I learned a lot about gay culture. Gay culture has its own set of values that are totally different from the "heterosexual, white, Christian" culture that I grew up in. I am interested to see how Bill C-36 will impact gay culture and if the government will have the audacity to impose their values on gay culture? For example, in gay culture, the sugar daddy and sugar baby relationship is quite common. Young men have older boyfriends who provide for them financially in exchange for a sexual relationship. I have witnessed this several times. Many times, I was surprised to see a boy, who was barely out of his teens, dating a grey haired man. In gay culture, these relationships are not shameful. In contrast, heterosexual culture frowns upon sugar daddy/sugar baby relationships. Bill C-36 would make the sugar daddy a criminal because of the transactional nature of his relationship with the sugar baby. The opposition from the gay community will be great. I still remember the opposition that the government faced from the gay community when they raised the age of consent in 2008. The gay community was opposed to the age of consent for anal sex being set at 18. The age of consent law and Bill C-36 show that the government is totally out of touch with the main stream. Most people want sexual freedom not oppression.
