You know make makes my heart ache?...That CERB is one of the few online spaces where workers and clients can speak openly and respectfully about sexuality, our desires, our bodies as they relate to our sexual exchanges...and also about activism. What will this do qualitatively to our online community here?...I think about that. The fact that, in a post C-36 climate, we (workers) cannot represent ourselves in any way where we could be implicate ourselves as a 'known prostitute' (there is so much hurt and stigma embedded in that piece) and belong to and advertise on CERB, pretty much means that I cannot say "I'm a sex worker"....it's actually really huge; the politics of representation and standing firm to make a claim about one's [current] work, one's body... what that means in our community...there's a symbolic anihalation that runs very deep to the core in all of that. Sure we can play semantics, change our job title and terms of service...tow the line to survive, and, of course, we will, but there's a lot of pain and psychic isolation in that... There's are no quick fix comments for these pieces; I know, folks...and I know this thread it mostly being utilized for pragmatics....but there are these other pieces too...like ragged bits in the wind with no place to fall...and, yet they blow around anyway Because we are here :)

Last thing You want to hear, 5am news repeating all the nonsense. Paraphrasing:a new study says girls as young as 13 are recruited in the thousands, and the handlers make 280k a year off each of them. All a rehash of the Joy Smith melodrama in her Senate presentation last week wrapped up as new. I expect better from the CBC. They should not be regurgitating this nonsense!

Not to be rude but until you are a confirmed SP with pictures in your album and a recommendation from a reputable source here on Cerb, many ladies will be reluctant to answer your questions. Imo, start replacing these acronyms with phrases such as: Greek - I will or will not travel to Greece Msog- I like to travel around the world once in a half hour or twice in an hour. DATY- I don't mind if you travel to the Netherland regions Guys you're going to have to start reading between the lines on these ones! lol. If a provider doesn't wish to discuss it in explicit terms this may be more of a creative way for them to tell you. At least then you will have an idea and not go into an appt completely blind. I don't see why. I'm not aware that there's anything in C36 that's retrospective, so it can't be used to prosecute anything that happened before it became law. That includes ads and recos dating from before then.

Most of my family is aware of what I do for a living. I also have other revenue as well. While they may not approve, they keep these comments to themselves. I had 15 people at my place for dinner earlier this evening. None of them asked me about my job. No one in my family usually talks about their jobs because they are all boring as hell. My parents always shut their mouth about everything including their own business. My father is one of those people who you can never quite read. He is quiet and unassuming, stays away from drama but then can tell someone to f off in the next breath if you piss him off. Now I know where I get it from! Extended family if you were to tell them, it's all downhill from there. I've had a few SP friends who had to deal with this at one time or another. Just tell them you have some boring office job doing payroll for a company. Barely anyone understands this type of work unless they're in it. They won't understand no matter how many ways you try to explain it to them. Especially if they're from a different generation... forget it. This business can get lonely and isolating at times but it also has it's advantages and rewards as well. None of which I regret. You just have to know how to balance your personal life and work life. Being an SP is like being in the mob. Don't tell any secrets. End of story.

I'd like to think that the community will survive relatively unscathed. C36 is about advertizing and buying sexual services; neither of those things is part of most of the conversations we have here. I'm not sure how that squares with what Mod said earlier in the thread about "known escorts", but I hope we'll find a way around it. Some creativity may be required.

Welcome to the board, Carrie! I hate to be the bearer of bad news (and I may be wrong), but I suspect most ladies won't answer this in public. They all have their ways of screening potential clients and things they do to ensure their own safety, but those won't be revealed here as they generally don't want to make it easier for the undesirable would-be clients to circumvent them. The board has a SP-only section, where I'm sure these things do get discussed more openly - the FAQ has details on how to get access. That might be your best bet.

I can appreciate the sentiment Lady Sophia, and it's generous of you to give someone the benefit of the doubt. It's possible the person is completely complicit, and yes, it's certainly possible their situation is more complex than that. Either way, however, it may be that the only way to help protect other people from being victimized by the scam is by sharing the information of who did the scamming. It's why, unfortunately, there is a warning section to the forums after all.

Just following up... Received information in PM that the (only) clinic that's listed in Moncton works with teens only. So, it appears it's a trip to your doctor or an after hours clinic (who would refer to hospital for blood work). Years ago, I tried to hide it. It got very tiring and difficult to keep my story straight. To give a bit of advice that is included in many other discussions at the moment, it would be in your best interest NOT to use a menu or a list of acronyms. Writing and maintaining a website takes a lot of time and energy and right now, we are in a flux point between what we are used to and Bill C36. no one knows who is gathering what information at this point to use at a further point so it is best to create your website in a way that doesn't outright describe sexual services at all. This way you are covered now and when things settle out later, you can look at making changes once you know for sure what is good and legal. Rate is for time and companionship only but many like to see the listed rate. Some SP's chose to discuss that only by phone conversation. As for the rest, it's all about you. Be yourself, determine your business model and create around that. Be aware of who you're wanting to attract as a client. Most of all, have fun!

For me and most guys, this is a hobby. If I have to do without for a while it is not the end of the world. For a lot of women this is their livelihood. Losing this income is going to really hurt them. I really feel bad about this, I know a couple of ladies personally who really count on this for extra income.
