Your reply is exactly what is wrong with this thread you are making this debate a personal attack you somehow think you are the authority on what is or is not racist ... get over yourself. If i go back and look i can quickly see that this topic has been beaten to death we are not planting any seeds or shining new light on a topic we are just rehashing the same thing over and over again. On a board where the general rule of thumb is if you can't say something nice don't say anything I fail to see how calling someone racist can be appropriate. As i said in my previous post the sex industry is a microcosm of overall society so yea there are racist clients and SP's that is no surprise... but in my experience people who work in the sex industry are way more open and accepting to diversity that the general population. Maybe we just need to stop applying labels. Just my Opinion

The only safe sex is masturbation. However, there are safer sex practices which can reduce the risk of acquiring STIs (side note: they're mostly referred to as sexually transmitted infections as not all infections will have symptoms or develop into a disease. Also, infections can be and generally are treatable, whereas disease can carry a lot of stigma. As providers, we have often taken the responsibility to educate ourselves. If you're unsure about something, or want to clarify what practices will be used, please ask but remember to do so respectfully. Asking someone "what diseases do you have?" is not going to get you off to the right start. (And yes, I have been asked that!)

Thanks everyone for the reply's and input. I've always just took it at a loss and chocked it up to part of the game. With having the bad experiences i will say it makes the times you find an amazing one that much better. Sucks that a person has to go through a few bad times though. I end up leaving feeling like i just took advantage of someone in a bad situation instead of having spent time with someone for both our enjoyment. i really appreciated her willingness to open her mind. Yes, it is as simple as saying, 'while i don't want to do this myself, it isn't right for me to impose my unwillingness in the form of penalizing laws'. IMHO, sex between two consenting adults, whether you pay for it or not, is one if not the most intimate and personal experience 2 ppl can share. It certainly can't be compared to other service businesses. That being said, no one as the right to tell providers who they should or should not see nor does anybody has a right to tell me who I should see. This is personal and private!

I hope this is the right section for this thread. Maybe should be in new to this section? I want to start this thread for new and upcoming ladies to the industry. With this community being an excellent source of information, us providers who are experienced and have learned the hard way we can share our words of wisdom to those who are just beginning their business:) So post what you have learned over the years and let's help our lady friends get started in right direction:) I will begin with this word: Investments for ads. The cheapest investment is your effort and time you put in on your advertisements. You may not have much cash in the beginning to invest in expensive ads, photo's and search engines. But, by putting a real effort into making your ads well written ( IE: Do not use "i" use the proper "I"), fun and enticing is a good start. Make it interesting with theme, but still be yourself. What is that makes you amazing? Learn the tools that are available. Maybe write yourself a few good ads that you can copy paste, add or subtract from. Put time into building your own site. This will eliminate the need of hiring or bartering off for skills. There are so many web site builders are easy to use. Also for posting your ads, find reliable places such as CERB, EC, etc...Make sure the site you use reflects your standards. If using a paid classified ad such as BP and you only have a small budget, post them on the pay days or buy a month package. Read, watch and learn from other ladies. See what is it that YOU like about them, BUT do not copy them! Just ask yourself, why do I like this ad? This photo? Then see if it is within your means. Also more sites you use, the easier it is to find you in google searches. Hope other ladies will add to this? What is the next major step for new business ladies should consider?

Learn to say no. Learn to set boundaries, and when they are set, no exceptions. Do not think that you are hurting someone's feelings or risking future trouble/harassment when you say no to someone rude, pushy, or asks for services outside your boundaries. You are showing them you are not a pushover, and you are freeing yourself up for the next caller, who is not rude and pushy. In other words, just because someone calls, doesn't mean you can't say no to them.

I always say safety comes first in terms of knowledge of the industry, especially for those who are new. Find a good doctor and/or gynecologist one who is open to what you are doing, some are and some aren't and educate yourself on the potential risks of what services you are going to offer (always a risk but some are greater than others). Find out where the free clinics are too in your local area just incase you really need one and your regular doctor is not available. They usually have a ton of information on different diseases, risk potential etc. and are more compassionate about your choice to be in the industry, easier to talk to sometimes than your regular doctor may be. Most free clinics also give out free condoms, lube, some have dental dams, female condoms - make use of that. Some cities also have condom fairies where they will come to your home or your workspace and drop condoms and lube off to you. Team up with an experienced SP or two, you certainly don't have to meet them in person but even just build up a relationship with them via pm, phone or email, whatever your comfort level. We are often left feeling isolated and most of us can't talk to our mainstream friends or family about what it is that we do, so try not to do that to yourself. You can also see if they're willing to help you with time checks etc. Educate yourself on local advocates in your area too, in case a serious instance happens (hopefully not) they are a great resources in terms of information, legal info and support. They too can provide you with tons of information of risks surrounding the industry and practices/services you're offering and they also have free condoms, lube avail. And well you can talk to them about EVERYTHING. Some of them are retired, part time or full time in the industry and some have never worked, but they choose to support us and you'll find they are a very understanding and wonderful bunch of ladies.

It's only happened to me in Halifax believe or not. I travel a lot and as such I follow FunValerie's advice and get references. In the States most SPs won't see you without a reference or two and I've adapted my own version for my own safety and peace of mind. That is, if the SP doesn't require a reference then it's not a good sign and also usually when you communicate with a SP over several emails or texts you can assess the quality and professionalism of the SP. As far as when you find yourself in that situation my own take is that you're out of luck really, it's unfortunate but a reality sometimes.

The bill will come into effect once the Senate and House of Commons agree on an identical bill and it receives royal assent. I'm unclear as to how C-36 is going to affect my business, particularly the nuances of it. I have no doubt that it will make it harder to screen, and that business will take a hit until people can see how the law is being enforced. It's also unclear to me what kind of activities will be covered under C-36. My services are all kink related, and while it's all sexual to me, it's hard to say where the line is going to be drawn. Perhaps it is best to let it go, as many had mentioned before :P All-in-all, I think we can agree that an SP has every right to choose who she sees, and if she is not comfortable seeing a certain race, then it is 100% her right to refuse them. Whether the reasoning behind a lady's decision is racist or not, she's allowed to see whomever she wants, and refuse whomever she wants. Some of the examples in this thread show that there are some reasons that wouldn't be classified as racism, and others would be, but whether racist or not, no one is denying that the SP has the freedom to choose with this job. I think what needs to be remembered is racism is but one form of discrimination There is also discrimination because of age, sex, sexual orientation, weight, disabilities etc But there is also sexual preference, not racism, because of age, sexual orientation, weight, disabilities and race, and there may be a very valid reason for someone's sexual preference. And, the last time I checked, the sps are not waiting tables at a restaurant, where their contact with people is limited to talking to them, and putting a plate of food down in front of them. There isn't going to be human rights committees started up in order to force sps to service everyone who contacts them, because that is procuring/coercion/trafficking and will remain against the laws. So complain about it in an ad, or as an sp's particular policy all you wish, it won't get you in the door to see her if she has chosen this path. I happen to think that assuming an sp is racist because she has any such policy is prejudging her without having the knowledge or understanding of why she has the policy.

I find that men from certain countries, particularly new immigrants from those certain countries, were not raised in a culture in which women are equal or highly valued or treated delicately. Which makes the job tougher than it already is. Ladies' screening processes are none of anybody's business, whether those screening processes would be deemed 'racist' or not by the general public.

I have work in this industry close to a decade I have seen some ladies in south clearly state no black...it's really hard to describe each situation I don't discriminate I see all background however recently I start to ask ethnicity and age to have a better sense of who I deal with I have canceled in middle of the session someone that was way too aggressive with a large equipment to be call racist..As funny as it sound I have date several guys of his ethnicity Knowing sometime ethnicity help me to be prepare to understand some behaviors You know as shocking as it can be fir some it's a lady preference ..some ladies choose to not see overweight men under 25 men.. I knew an Sp who was of another ethnicity who would not see clients of that ethnic group because she did not want to run into anyone she might know from her community. Sps provide an intimate service and are when it comes to our bodies, it's our rules. And we shouldn't have to explain ourselves to anyone.

Honestly, I have no idea how common it is. There are a very few providers who put restrictions in their ads; there are a larger number who explicitly state that they don't discriminate based on race. As RG said, all providers have the same right as anyone else to reject anyone they don't want to get it on with, no matter how good or bad their reasons may be. But clients decide who to see or not see for all sorts of reasons, and there are probably quite a lot of us who find overt racism to be rather distasteful...
