I had the opportunity last night to have an in-depth discussion about C-36 with an Ottawa policeman. All this was off the record, he was speaking only for himself and his situation may change but none the less it was interesting. Based on what he's been told, he does not see any major changes on the horizon. They will continue the occasional street level John Sweep. The guys will get charged. The SPs most likely won't. As for SPs working from their home, condo, apartments or agencies, they have no interest in pursuing them. The probable results are not worth the investment in time and resources. Besides, he said, those people are paying their taxes just like any other person so barring any complaints, why would they bother them? He said this was the same for agencies, independents and "rub & tugs". He explained that they, the police, are generally in a reactive mode. There is only so much money, manpower, and resource available so they will react to community issues (complaints). The closest thing to proactive effort he mentioned was a Sergeant who was reaching out to women working from ....... to make sure the SPs were aware of the resources available to them in case they had problems. Apparently this Sergeant got into difficulty when he got a little too friendly with the SPs but that's a different story. He's not aware of any new money being allocated to address this "issue". Bottom line: Don't go looking for sex on street corners. Be discrete. Life will go on.

I am not a shawarma. lol I know you have good intentions but I think there are ways to describe a rendezvous that sounds more eloquent than comparing one's self to food. I really think there will be a change with the new law and steering away from being viewed as an in/out drive thru express menu. Providers are really going to have to brainstorm and being able to describe themselves that does not refer to anything explicit. They are really going to have to sell themselves and not in the way that one would think. This means describing qualities about themselves that does not necessarily infer anything sexual. That includes past pre C36 recommendations Getting rid of one menu isn't an invitation to create a new menu. C36 sucks, no question. Personally, I am avoiding any sort of "menu". As it says on my site: I am a whole woman who can't so easily be quantified and to boil our experience down to a 1 -10 rating and a handful of letters is really doing our time together a great disservice.

A lot of us have been saying pretty much this since C-36 was looming months ago. Even when certain things were illegal, LE didn't go around busting everyone they could find. C-36 won't change that. The biggest difficulties will be in us ladies advertising effectively and having our online communities like Cerb. Independent ladies and agencies likely will get zero troubles from LE. We've beaten this discussion to death over many threads, and frankly I'm not the slightest bit surprised that an officer told you this. This law sounds scary, but it's up to LE to enforce it, and they've never been too concerned about busting up the sex trade. It's pretty low on the list when you've got rapists, murderers, thieves and all manner of other criminals out there.

I am actually somewhat happy that the "menu" is something we are going away from. I know that some guys are really particular about what they want and don't want and need more info but for me, it's just not that important. I think guys may have to see a lady for a 30 minute "coffee date" or whatever (not in public) and find out if the fit is right. Perhaps seeing what she offers or restrictions in person but my suggestion is to just go with the flow and not be worrying about those little details. There is a lot more to a great sexual encounter than the acronyms or the little details. Using metaphors, I would say that I can still find top quality shoes at great prices in an outlet store, and going to the best restaurant in town won't guarantee me the best meal I could ever enjoy, not mentioning the cold atmosphere. I always give a client a hug and kiss on the cheek or lips as soon as they enter in the door. A female police officer would NEVER do that. If you arrive and feel something isn't right even if it isn't LE, just excuse yourself and leave before proceeding any further. My advice is if you cannot find legitimate info on a new SP and you have a feeling of uneasiness like something is about to happen but you can't quite put your finger on it, do not go through with the appt or get out of there! I advertise in the newspaper from time to time and many clients do not have a clue what's going on or told me they've heard something about it yet have no extensive knowledge as to what's currently going on. I am a die hard BlackBerry user and I recently downloaded a new App that I think is great for this Hobby/Business. The App is called "Hide SMS" and while it is for BlackBerry 10 phones I am sure there are similar Apps for other popular phones. Bottom line the App redirects incoming text messages from identified contacts or phone numbers into a password protected area on your phone and not into your regular text message location. This allows clients to securely text back and forth with SP's with no indication of the text trail in their regular text listing. If your spouse checks your phone you are all clear. It also would allow SP'S to flag the number of regular clients so that the record of their conversations were secure in case the phone is ever lost of stolen. I have only been playing with the app since yesterday but it looks very promising.

Some of the new social messaging platforms are offering interesting options for communication in the new legal world... for example the latest version of BlackBerry Messenger offers the option of timed messages that the reader can only see for a predetermined amount of time... with the already good security of BBM this added feature would be an excellent way for a more explicit conversation with no real record of it existing... with BBM now available on all phone platforms I would love to see more ladies use it. Emailed a long time and highly regarded provider who I've known for many years and asked for her thoughts on Bill C-36. Got back a what's that message. I provided a bunch of links and suggested it would be good to become informed quickly. (I also suggested that they could be a bunch come out the wood work over the next 30 days as some scramble seeking a safe haven). It surprised me a bit but then after thinking about it, it really didn't as the numbers of uniformed players out there is huge and most probably the majority by a long shot. That's where the game is going to get most interesting when the uniformed on both sides walk smack into C-36. While all the boards have had extensive discussions about C-36 with many many opinions the reality they still represent a small percentage of overall industry participants. And the stick to reputable providers idea well obviously a good thought, for folks who aren't on the boards how would they even know who is a reputable provider is? Interesting times indeed. Law enforcement is not on a moral crusade here like the Conservative government is. If they're told to enforce something they will do it because it's their job. It is also based on time, budget and resources. Many people think that once this bill is official law that LE will just be waiting to arrest people. This bill is so contradictory and evasive that I feel bad for police officers who are just doing their job. People need to use common sense here. Don't do anything that you are not sure of, see reputable providers, be discrete and there won't be a problem. The world is not going to end. Hobbyists are going to have to take more time researching a prospective SP they want to meet instead of calling up an ad on BP out of the blue and going to meet them within the hour. I hate to say it but clients have had it good for so long without interference from LE and many have become complacent due to non-industry classified ads which have brought in a lot of amateurs to the business who think they have a cell phone and hotel room that they are now a professional escort, a lot more bait and switch, explicit advertising, menus, quick in and out service, etc. It is all going to change and imo, there may be more positive change as a result.

Pivot legal has some great information on this bill/law. I understand your fear but this stuff is painfully easy to navigate. There will be a learning curve, not only for clients, but providers as well but let's be honest - we are a pretty smart bunch of people here. You will see advertising change drastically, it has to. You should be careful who you see (known, trusted, reviewed providers) but you should be doing that anyway. If you're onr of those people that send lewd texts, stop. I'm in ottawa and logging license plates seems silly to me. Most downtown hotels double as government parking so the same plates are there all the time. I don't think that LE is going to have the resources to go insane on this I expect a couple of big busts (or attempts..we've seen their success rate) and that's it. This will cause problems to spas, agencies and street level works. I feel awful for them but I am not involved in those categories so I cannot speak for their strategies. Ok, first of all, no reputable lady in her right mind is going to throw you under the bus, word would spread quickly and that would be the end of her career. A police officer does not have to identify him/herself and can take whatever measures he/she wants in order to bust you. They do not at any time have to admit that they are a police officer. Ladies get more victimized in this situation then men do (sorry boys but it's true) and there's often bribery/extortion etc. to provide favours in exchange for not being charged/sent to the clink etc. and I can see a whole can of worms being opened up where that's concerned with this new bill being passed .. for ladies. This was VERY common back in the day when we all worked out on the streets, many moons ago, it still happens but dropped a bit when everyone moved indoors. I hear a lot about this in terms of incidents in the US and other countries, once in a while here in Canada, but not so much, although I'm pretty sure more goes unreported. If an ad looks too good to be true, it more than likely is and there's usually super hot, young looking ladies used as pictures in the ads. They also usually use a bargain basement price to give you that double whammy, lure you in type scenario. And a lot of times, I'll even know there's a bust going on, because sometimes, they've used established porn star pictures. Stick with reputable sp's, do your research. I know it's hard at times for you boys to maintain control over the little head at times, but use the big head, common sense. One thing I do know to the best of my knowledge that LE has never used a web site claiming it to be their own in order to put up a sting and as far as I know they've also never claimed to have reviews or be reviewed. It's always some super hot pics and a bargain price, even 2 for 1 deals. If you google her number and there's no history at all, she's got no web site and no reviews, chances are it's a sting or she's super new and I feel really bad for the new ladies trying to get into the industry right now. Sorry for the rambling lol but we ladies can get more charges laid against us now and will be open to more victimization than you guys will. I'm not trying to marginalize your feelings, worries etc. that would be wrong. - New to the biz sps are always busy. They are busier in the first 6 months than they will be in the following months. Do not expect the same level of interest in month number 7. do not start spending the money earned in months 1 to 5 as if it will continue to come in the same way all the time. - Do not make the new sp mistake of arrogance and entitlement. Men find sps attractive, and they shower compliments. But whether the sp is young and fit, or older and curvy, the compliments are showered just as much for the mature as the young. Being young is not an excuse for being rude and dismissive of mature sps, and it also goes back to point #1; the new sp is a busy sp, far busier than she will be when the newness runs out. in other words, you are not more special than any other sp out there, so make them your friends, not your enemies. - Don't keep throwing money into ads that are not bringing in a return. Be choosy about where and when you post ads. Even if you are available 24/7, never put that in your ads, and don't post ads very late at night. This can be done by a more experienced, sp, but not a new one. The drunk, the high, the somewhat crazier clients come out after 10pm, you have to have the skills to deal with them. Which goes back to my initial post: learn how to say no, and not all money is good money. - Clients are clients, not your new BFFs. They do not need your personal information, and they should not have access to your personal space. You have to exercise control over the amount of information you give out, and assume that at least one of the people you talk to whether client or another sp, will spread it around to people that you do not want to have it. There are many sps who have had this happen to them. The sps who have never shared one personal detail, or a face pic, or whatever, have never been exposed to their friends, family or neighbours. Boundaries are there for a reason.

It really does baffle me that some people think they are safe with the existing laws now. What about being found in a bawdy house? Point being is that most people visiting SPs have ALWAYS taken a risk in one form or another which could have also turned their worlds upside down and no one seemed to care. Only difference now is a criminal record will be in place to make it official. The only thing that is going to change is that people are actually going to have to do their research. Many have been become very complacent and have also taken chances in meeting women they have no clue about. They see an ad and call. You don't know what's waiting for you behind that door. So why all of a sudden now? If a person takes the time to do some actual research, there won't be a problem. Business will carry on as usual.

I agree. Mod does take care of the one's that ask in a public thread but it's not very often these people do. They catch you in private chat and that can be reported as well.
