I have gone threw this. It is a terrible feeling and share your pain. At the time it happened to me, I was just new to this, and did not yet have the funds to have a lawyer on a yearly retainer. So when I contacted my local police, they were sympathetic, but had no way of pursuing it. So the only thing I could do was to wait it out:( With that said, You know the saying " even bad publicity is good publicity" ? Well in my case that showed to be true! Even tho it was painful:( Then later, it happened again. But this time I had been saving and paid a lawyer on a retainer yearly. When I was slandered and harassed, on txt and email my lawyer sent a very nice letter suggesting them to stop this or we would go to court and criminal charges can be laid. Now this is slightly different as I could trace who the source was. Let me tell you, that was the best cash I spent, as once that letter was sent that person left me alone! So my lawyer and the police did say you need MIN 10 examples of harassment or slander for it to be criminal, but this was before cyber bullying was really a case. But the police will NOT pursue it unless you do all the leg work. IF you can have proof of min 10 incidences of harassment, threats, and slander, then IF you have a lawyer, then possibly your lawyer can put pressure on the site owners, or he/she can suggest to your local LE to act on it. IT IS VERY risky and not always easy to do this. Sadly, you may cause much attention to yourself if you do this. But in saying that, do not be a push over either. You need to wage what comfort level you can take. I suggest that any SP who is running a business should consider a lawyer on a yearly retainer, as many things can come up and it is good to have an adviser. Thanks for that, bcguy. I know that people often have a generally bad opinion of the police, and that occasionally it's deserved, but most of them are decent people doing a hard job. They *know* which laws actually matter and need to be enforced, and which don't; they know that two consenting adults having fun with an envelope on the table are absolutely no threat to the fabric of society. They have a lot of discretion over which laws they actually police and which they don't. Don't underestimate the power of passive resistance to nullify stupid laws. Of course, the police are still answerable to the public, and must therefore respond to public concern... and that's why we'll still see periodic sweeps and stings aimed at street workers and their clients - they're the most obvious facet of the industry. Every once in a while I come across the odd post or tweet from either SPs or clients, or mainstream folk, using a variety of words like slut and ..... in a degrading way, or they think of it only in degrading terms. I met someone, well more than one, who don't even track their appts in anyway, like how much, how many, what their income is at the end of the week, or for the entire month. As someone who is also very experienced in this business, my advice is not to get cocky and think you're the best in terms of headlines when it comes to advertising. I see this all the time in other advertising venues and it really does say a lot about the person promoting themselves that way. Being "the best" is very subjective and an SP will never entirely convince the masses.. While it is always great to appear confident, being egotistical and arrogant will not viewed favorably especially if you need to network with other SPs or wish to have certain resources available to you as time goes on such as being part of a private SP area. Reputation and professionalism are two of the most important qualities to have in this business. Not only do these qualities matter when it comes to clients but also how your fellow SPs view you as well.

- New to the biz sps are always busy. They are busier in the first 6 months than they will be in the following months. Do not expect the same level of interest in month number 7. do not start spending the money earned in months 1 to 5 as if it will continue to come in the same way all the time. - Do not make the new sp mistake of arrogance and entitlement. Men find sps attractive, and they shower compliments. But whether the sp is young and fit, or older and curvy, the compliments are showered just as much for the mature as the young. Being young is not an excuse for being rude and dismissive of mature sps, and it also goes back to point #1; the new sp is a busy sp, far busier than she will be when the newness runs out. in other words, you are not more special than any other sp out there, so make them your friends, not your enemies. - Don't keep throwing money into ads that are not bringing in a return. Be choosy about where and when you post ads. Even if you are available 24/7, never put that in your ads, and don't post ads very late at night. This can be done by a more experienced, sp, but not a new one. The drunk, the high, the somewhat crazier clients come out after 10pm, you have to have the skills to deal with them. Which goes back to my initial post: learn how to say no, and not all money is good money. - Clients are clients, not your new BFFs. They do not need your personal information, and they should not have access to your personal space. You have to exercise control over the amount of information you give out, and assume that at least one of the people you talk to whether client or another sp, will spread it around to people that you do not want to have it. There are many sps who have had this happen to them. The sps who have never shared one personal detail, or a face pic, or whatever, have never been exposed to their friends, family or neighbours. Boundaries are there for a reason.

YES. Make friends with some of the ladies in the industry because you will need support and someone to laugh with and vent to. Being alone in this business is isolating and frustrating, especially because none of your non-escort friends will truly understand. If you do tell your non-escort friends about your new job, be prepared for a variety of reactions. Some won't care, some will start seeing your life as their entertainment, and some will not want to be associated with you anymore. Be prepared and be BRAVE!

I always say safety comes first in terms of knowledge of the industry, especially for those who are new. Find a good doctor and/or gynecologist one who is open to what you are doing, some are and some aren't and educate yourself on the potential risks of what services you are going to offer (always a risk but some are greater than others). Find out where the free clinics are too in your local area just incase you really need one and your regular doctor is not available. They usually have a ton of information on different diseases, risk potential etc. and are more compassionate about your choice to be in the industry, easier to talk to sometimes than your regular doctor may be. Most free clinics also give out free condoms, lube, some have dental dams, female condoms - make use of that. Some cities also have condom fairies where they will come to your home or your workspace and drop condoms and lube off to you. Team up with an experienced SP or two, you certainly don't have to meet them in person but even just build up a relationship with them via pm, phone or email, whatever your comfort level. We are often left feeling isolated and most of us can't talk to our mainstream friends or family about what it is that we do, so try not to do that to yourself. You can also see if they're willing to help you with time checks etc. Educate yourself on local advocates in your area too, in case a serious instance happens (hopefully not) they are a great resources in terms of information, legal info and support. They too can provide you with tons of information of risks surrounding the industry and practices/services you're offering and they also have free condoms, lube avail. And well you can talk to them about EVERYTHING. Some of them are retired, part time or full time in the industry and some have never worked, but they choose to support us and you'll find they are a very understanding and wonderful bunch of ladies.

Funny, I've been advertising as if the law is in force. I've met many new wonderful clients that are fast becoming regulars. Not one has asked for specifics. Our time together has flowed beautifully, and I'm enjoying my time genuinely. Difference is that there are no longer scripted actions. It all flows nicely. I'm not complaining anymore about c36. Every new bill has a 30 day provision after receiving Royal Assent before it becomes law. This is in the federal comments of how a bill becomes a law. It is not specifically written into this bill because it covers every bill. The 30 day provision gives those who need to comply, support, carry out etc. to get their ducks in a line.

I hope this is the right section for this thread. Maybe should be in new to this section? I want to start this thread for new and upcoming ladies to the industry. With this community being an excellent source of information, us providers who are experienced and have learned the hard way we can share our words of wisdom to those who are just beginning their business:) So post what you have learned over the years and let's help our lady friends get started in right direction:) I will begin with this word: Investments for ads. The cheapest investment is your effort and time you put in on your advertisements. You may not have much cash in the beginning to invest in expensive ads, photo's and search engines. But, by putting a real effort into making your ads well written ( IE: Do not use "i" use the proper "I"), fun and enticing is a good start. Make it interesting with theme, but still be yourself. What is that makes you amazing? Learn the tools that are available. Maybe write yourself a few good ads that you can copy paste, add or subtract from. Put time into building your own site. This will eliminate the need of hiring or bartering off for skills. There are so many web site builders are easy to use. Also for posting your ads, find reliable places such as CERB, EC, etc...Make sure the site you use reflects your standards. If using a paid classified ad such as BP and you only have a small budget, post them on the pay days or buy a month package. Read, watch and learn from other ladies. See what is it that YOU like about them, BUT do not copy them! Just ask yourself, why do I like this ad? This photo? Then see if it is within your means. Also more sites you use, the easier it is to find you in google searches. Hope other ladies will add to this? What is the next major step for new business ladies should consider?

For the most part, the photos are your biggest selling feature to accompany an ad. If possible, try and let your personality shine through a bit if it's within your comfort level. Perhaps it may be helpful if I explain that there is a certain degree of selfishness among the clients. A few of us spend a great deal of time and money meeting different women. It is not easy to find someone you really, really like enough to be a regular with. For those of us that have invested so much into finding Ms Right, then there is a reticence to announce it to all of CERB and a tendency to enjoy a "sense" of exclusivity with her. So Daytona, in your specific case, the lack of any recommendation may be that your clients are so happy with you that they would rather not tell everyone else about it and open the floodgates of text messages, phone calls, and e-mails that you would then receive. Now, I understand if you and many other SPs might find this behavior of we men perplexing... but that is one of the curious differences between how men are wired differently from women.

I was going to wait until I got back home and do all my reviews from my computer instead of this iPad, but I've received several requests in PMs for more details on Felina's kink session so I'd figured I'd share some generic information. I think the biggest task is going to be re-training clients, as Angela mentioned. Especially here in BC where this industry has always been pretty accepted and things are fairly open and easy-going here. Personally, I am not the slightest bit concerned about my local LE busting me for anything - even if I do choose to get into details over the phone. However, not all municipalities take as tolerant and benevolent a view on our industry and as a rule, I think it's a good idea to stick to basic information and key phrases like "open-minded" (can we still use that? Surely, I would think we can). Clients will just have to learn to read between the lines. And in the end, I find clients that don't want a menu are almost always better clients than the ones who are eager to reduce your companionship to how good your .... skills are or other such things. It's been said by many ladies, and it bears mentioning again: this is chance for us girls to bring back some of the tact and elegance of our companionship. Yes, many clients will not catch on as they are either unaware of the new law and/or they're just stubborn. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself what you consider to be okay in terms of how you interact with clients before meeting them. If you're comfortable going into detail over the phone, just be aware of the risks involved. There are many advocacy groups in many cities around Canada, and I see no reason why you shouldn't contact them and/or speak to the liason officer at your municipality's police department about the reality of this law. Afterall, while a law may be on the books, the reality of enforcing it may not be so severe. It's good to be informed so you can make a choice that you are comfortable with and that works for you.
