This topic has been discussed before in other threads. I don't think Terri Jean Bedford's comments to the Senate are representative of what most of us are thinking or willing to do. The bottom line is that no established companion would risk their reputation to do something like this. There is no end reward for them and would basically be business suicide.

The VERY FIRST adult discussion website in Canada (at least that I know of) that had info on escorts was created by no other then "Joyful Spirit" (A member here who use to go by the name "LYLA" and she built the website and was a pioneer for online escorts in Canada). The site was LYLA.COM and was affectionately known as "Lyla's List". It also displayed ads for Escorts-Canada.com and when LYLA wanted to retire the site she passed the domain name on to the owners of escorts-canada.com. They (EC) continued lyla's list for a few years but when the SPONLY area on LYLA.COM at the time known as demimonde was taken over by some of the ladies and failed miserably and the discussion board part was hacked bad due to a old bbs system that was full of security holes the discussion element of the site and the sponly area of the site were put onto the back burner. The lyla.com site stayed active but only to display ads for escorts-canada (without a discussion element) instead we created a separate site cerb.ca to start from scratch. So... We are bringing back LYLA.COM as we need a NON CANADIAN DOMAIN NAME for this site. WHY?? Basically we do not trust the Canadian powers that be, with these new laws it's only a matter of time when our compliance is not good enough so this way we have a .COM domain name (canada does not have any governing body over .com only .ca) so we felt this needed to happen sooner then later. BUT... love you like a sister is a most excellent modern day urban take on the name! We should adapt that as this community has always been about watching each others backs, helping the ladies stay safe and all around positive side of the adult industry. Since we are sisters and brothers and we now have all those annoying DOT.DOT.DOT censors all around us maybe we should use "Love You Like A ..." as the name! ;)

Well I have been pretty well MIA for about five weeks I believe and it had not a thing to do with the new foolish laws coming into play or reconsidering things. I had to go back and read this whole thread again to see what I missed. It seems the "terms of endearment" are maybe 70% against ( I didn't count, just guessing). Never would have realized that some people are so turned off by that but hey, it's all cool. Personally I keep very few actual friends, though I am very close with them, I don't want a large circle of friends. Pretty much all of the above but mostly faking. I don't want some generic, "oh baby, oh baby, oh god" fake orgasm crap. hmmm where to start. I agree that you don't need official designated days to recognize the loved ones in your life (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Family Day ....) but I do love taking the time, buying the mushy card and setting aside the day to cherish loved ones. I have had my ups and downs, divorce, death in family etc so I have come to realize life is short and you should enjoy life to the fullest as best you can!

I agree that all these events are over-commercialised, but I still think you can have fun with them, if you approach them in the right spirit. These old religious festivals (going back to Roman times and beyond), used to have a special meaning, to let people break away from the pain of daily life for a bit, and to recognise that there are higher and more important things, like love, devotion, community, friendship. They can still be a good reminder of these values, if we don't either get swept away by the consumerism, or else let it turn us off completely to the deeper meaning. So I intend to celebrate Valentine's Day, the old festival of love and fertility, anyway, as I do every year, in tribute to the Romans, who invented it, and to my friends.
