Cops may not be allowed to commit sexual acts on duty, but that doesn't mean they don't. Cops commit some of the worst assaults against sex workers. This is honestly the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

It has been an interesting six days since the passage of the new legislation. Something appears to be happening that I have never seen before and it boils down to, "What if they passed a law and nobody cared?" Since December 6th if you've been following it, there have news stories, editorials, public opinion commentaries, police force announcements, anecdotal stories, and many with the common theme that the law is foolish, unenforceable, a constitutional afront to the decision of the Supreme Court, and other than for abuse and trafficking and those sorts of things will be ignored. I for one would LOVE to have been a fly on the wall in the meeting rooms of Joy Smith, Peter MacKay, and some of the so called rescue groups that passed this legislation as they read the press releases. They must be beside themselves, but I do not think that they have given up their fight. Now, with me being me, I am not yet quite ready to say to all of those here who want to say to me, "I told you so," that I was wrong. :) It is still early days and as long as it is a law on the books it has its potential dangers. However when it is actually gone, nobody will be happier to admit that he was wrong than I !!!!! Keep supporting sex worker organizations and each other.

I find your thread somewhat offensive. I hate to break it to you, but you communicating sex for money is illegal whether you have handed the money over or not. And this so-called, "if they're a cop, they won't let you touch them" is an urban myth that's been around forever. I am not a cop and I won't allow anyone to touch my boob or pay me at the end of the session to prove I am not a cop. This has not affected my business, because in the past 10 years, I have never had one client ask me to do this ahead of time or when they showed up. You are not going to win over many ladies affection by suggestion clients insist on touching our boobs and paying us at the end. If we advertising companionship only, and gents respond to such ads, there is no need for them to worry about being busted for exchange of money for sex if no sex is being sold. If it's sex you wish to purchase, you won't find ads like that here. That's all I am going to say about this before I get into trouble for being hostile.

Feminism is not misandry. The two words have no similar meaning, aside from the fact that many people who are opposed to feminism have decided to try to make those two words synonymous. They're not. Raidcals and extremists exist everywhere with everything. They do not represent the majority and feminism is no exception. I am a feminist and it's been fodder for the a-holes on the BC board to find more reasons to hate me. I actually had someone write me an e-mail comparing me to Hitler. All because I believe women are equal and men aren't a bunch of children who don't know any better than their shitty behavior and are fully capable of being held accountable for their (in)actions rather than coddled and babied. How dare I presume that men are intelligent, capable beings and that women are, too. God, yeah, just call me Irma Greee... *rolls eyes* Anyhow, feminism is not about hating men. That's misandry. Totally different.

Well I think everyone who has contributed to this thread are all right. I hate when the word 'feminism' gets construed as men hating, or someone out to get men, etc etc. And it also saddens me when it's an accurate depiction. It should not be. All feminism is, is the desire for things to be equal. And yes, we have gotten to the point where you can open a bank account without the permission of a man, but we are nowhere near where we should be. There are still tons of inequalities, from both sides. I have worked in male dominated industrial jobs most of my life. I started working in a mine when I was 19. It was a camp set up, week in week out. I was one of a handful of girls on site. It took 5 years before my 300 some colleagues stopped trying to sleep with me and actually became my friends. I can guarantee you that a 19 year old man has not had to deal with continuously being hit on for 5 years, while trying to politely decline everyone so that you don't come across as a b*ch. This is what feminism is trying to get rid of. Another site I worked at, a few of the older men still possess the view that women don't belong in industry. They have intentionally set up new female employees to do two-person jobs alone. This results in them getting injured. However, men never do this job alone. They always do it in pairs. They set new female employees up to fail just so that they can say "See, women don't belong. They can't do the job." This is what feminism is trying to get rid of. And there are countless other examples I've come across in my years as being a female. The one I probably hate the most deals with our children, and how girls are always told they are beautiful and pretty and have nice clothes and hair, and 'oh, how cute she is'. Whereas the boys get told they are strong, creative, smart, ingenious, thoughful, etc... And how girls who are assertive are 'bossy', and boys who are assertive are 'leaders'. Drives me nuts! We need to start in our own homes and in our own lives in order for change to occur. I have some favourite Ted Talks that are about the subject of inequality. I love the first one, and if you ever listen to anyone talk about this subject matter, this is the one you should listen to. It's a man speaking, if that helps ;-P Also, Emma Watson's UN speech was also brilliant.

As someone doing a PhD in women's studies, let me say first off that there is no one definition of feminism, but as a generalization we can say that feminism refers to the political, economic and social equality of the sexes. There are many different strands of feminism, such as Marxist/Socialist feminism, radical feminism, liberal feminism, post-structural/postmodernist feminism. They all have particular histories and goals. It's much better to think of feminism in the plural, as feminisms, because there are many. In terms of the type of feminism influencing C36--this is a very specific form of radical feminism that was formulated during the 60s-70s-80s. But lest you think this a new incarnation, this type of "rescue the fallen women" has been a goal of middle class white women since the 19th century. Despite being very vocal, they are in fact a minority amongst feminists generally. I generally refer to myself as a sex radical feminist or a sex positive feminist. Those are labels that refer to a type of feminism that is supportive of sex workers rights, as well as trans rights (many rad fems are trans-exclusionary, arguing offensively that transwomen in particular are just men in drag). I would hope you wouldn't paint an entire group as man-haters because of a few bad apples.

The Cons never had any real concerns surrounding this issue and only had a vested interest when it came to themselves and how it would benefit their upcoming election. While business has taken a downward turn and it's quiet for ladies such as myself who work indoors, the real loss is going to be with those on the street where the risks and danger are much higher. There was supposed to be a law that would be designed to protect them but all the government cares is how it makes them look so high and mighty for their voters. Laws should never be built on morality and this is what this law was founded upon. Evangelism at its finest! Posted via Mobile Device

I agree that it is still early and I am sure there will be some enforcement in the form of stings, etc. However, after seeing the press release from Calgary police, it is pretty obvious that although they will abide by the new law, they won't go out of their way to target average citizens. I think MacKay underestimates the people who really enforce laws in this country. He thought he could get on his pulpit and create this travesty and everybody would just fall into line but he doesn't understand that the cops, prosecutors and judges in this country can see the bigger picture here. I am cautiously optimistic that law enforcement officials will continue to do what they always have. Target the exploited and protect the ladies whenever something happens. Now I am off to work for half a day and then get ready for some fun time with two very special ladies tonight. If they bust me after, I doubt I will even care.

Perhaps I simply overlooked the obvious so your statement helps to clarify things for me. Again here Berlin, that statement also puts things in a better perspective. I shall try to be more tolerant in my mind with first impressions of the words feminism and feminists. Thanks to everyone for their opinions and viewpoints on my original opinion/question. From a purely personal perspective, I know that I have become very riled in the past six months with the reading of press statements, with opinions of many, and mostly after watching much of the parliamentary committee testimony on the new legislation. I REALLY appreciate and support the view that in its most simplistic interpretation feminism may be a desire for equality of all, as basic as that. Sounds like a pretty awesome goal to me.

There is always a multitude of reasons for things changing or slowing. I've always found Dec to be a busy month, and perhaps because some can sneak away easier because of shopping, more parties, etc. Some get bonuses this time of year as well. This fall was different for me though, It was quieter than expected. I never think it slows due to competition, more girls or question myself. No matter how many girls there are those who are attracted to me and like me, will continue to do so no matter the numbers and the same applies to all of us. It slows in conformity to other things, always. A slower economy, laws changing, higher debts loads, job loss. What affects the economy will affects us. Having a nest egg to rely is a must and is staying positive. I've been in and out of this business many times. It always has it's lulls, you just have to wait it through. On the quiet days volunteer, pamper yourself a bit more or do something else that you love and soon it'll be busy again and you'll be wanting a break:)

I'm a feminist. Always have been and always will be. Do I agree with every statements other feminists say? No. That's what being a feminist is in my mind. Being able to hear others points of views, and deciding for yourself what you believe. Are women still being exploited and held back by a patriarchal society? Hell yes. Will I speak my mind about this? Of course. Society is constantly evolving. I still remember not being able to open a bank account without a husband's permission. We still have a long way to go.

I really don't think there are nearly as many "man-hater feminists" out there as some think or fear. As with anything in life, you'll have people that distort a valid idea or movement and go too far. In part I think the problem is that more radical elements tend to make more noise or get more of the attention. I'm a feminist, and in fact it bothers me when people say they aren't because truly it's meaning is that provided by MidniteMassage above, and has nothing to do with man-hating or putting men down. The other thing--and sometimes this is deliberate but often it's just unconscious--is when a group has been privileged with power it's hard for it recognize it and even harder for it to give that advantage up. Whether it's wealth, race, age, or gender, certain groups in our society are given advantages. Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with being rich, white, young, or male, or that those of us who fall into one or more of those demographics don't have problems, but we're also often blind to the privilege we have. I say this because some men are threatened by feminism and are unconsciously lasing out at the loss of their privilege. So they'll point to those feminists who are radical or unfair and paint them as if that's what all feminism is and undermine the movement and change the conversation. To be clear, I in no way think that's what the OP is doing here. Rather, I think it's in part the result of those that are threatened by feminism distorting its meaning (along with the few radicals) that the entire word starts to lose its true meaning or give it a bad taste for all of us when it shouldn't.

fem·i·nism : the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities : organized activity in support of women's rights and interests This is the true definition and it has indeed been hijacked. Now when many people hear that someone is a feminist, they picture radical man hater out to elevate and destroy. There have been many feminists standing up against this industry, claiming victimization, painting ladies as unable to think for themselves, held back and down by men, forced and coerced. Yet, to me, a real feminist would focus on making sure the women have a right to CHOOSE, have workplace protections and labor rights and that there are laws in place to help those who are victims or need a better life circumstance. Feminism is not about pushing personal morals, agendas and beliefs, it's about giving everyone the right to choose. The right to have the same benefits and pay, the same access and yes, the same treatment. I don't believe that men should be automatically damned in favor of a woman, I don't believe that all abuse is only perpetrated by men or that only men manipulate and take advantage. I believe that we are all people and unique just like every life and situation. I believe in fairness for all, rights for all and in choosing what works for you as an individual. Feminism is NOT a dirty word and needs to be reclaimed. Those women who want to take away rights that don't fall in with their beliefs, feel men should be burned just because they are men and feel that every woman should receive benefit because they are simply a woman, need to be called out on what they really are because they are NOT feminists. Feminism is not just about women, it's about all people.

Once in a while you come to realize that so many of our members really don't "get" the whole hobby experience, or rather, they understand that there are rules but believe they are somehow exempt. So let's help them. Let's give some handy tips to make this a more wonderful experience for all. This is a pleasant place so let's keep it constructive... and be aware that the rules shouldn't just be for clients, you can also add some helpful tips that may help a new provider too! Here goes: 1. Appointment time is at 2:00 pm, what time do I arrive? Ummmmm. Hmmmmm. What part of 2:00 pm is ambiguous? A 2 o'clock appointment means you are at her door at 2. Not 1:55, not 2:10. It's seems petty but when you screw up her schedule, you may be screwing up MY schedule. I may be the appointment at 3. I have things to do... and my schedule may not be as loosey goosey as yours. I may be using a very small window of time or I may have "commitments" that see me arriving like clockwork elsewhere. Regardless, when the little hand is at 2 and the big hand is at 12, be where you are supposed to be. 2. "I am awesomely wicked good in bed, and I often masturbate to pictures of myself nude, because I am that good looking. Can we negotiate a better rate?" In a word, No. Would you go to a restaurant and say, "I am a really good eater, can I get a better price on that steak?" Would you go to a lawyer and say, "I am an awesome criminal, can you represent me for free?" Would you go to the dentist and say, "My teeth are so bad that you should fix them all for $50!" A service provider gets paid at a set rate because she is a professional. She is good... no, not just good... wickedly awesome good, at what she does. Your part is the compensation, her part is the wicked awesome part. Pay the pretty lady and be happy. 3. Cleanliness is next to godliness. Ever step into an elevator and stand next to someone who smells like they have never met a bar of soap they liked? Ever met someone that looked like they were an extra in the Walking Dead? Have you ever gone into a bathroom after someone and wondered if they ate something dead? Step one. Go to the potty. Do your business. Wipe. Wipe again. Wipe again. and then, wipe again. Do the optical test. Last wipe. Is there any residue? If yes, start over. If no, then proceed to step two. Step Two. Shower. Clean EVERYWHERE. Rinse. Repeat. Did you pay attention to anywhere in particular??? Hmmm??? Go back to those places. Make em sparkle. (at this point I do suggest that artificial glitter is NOT necessary.) Get out of the shower. Towel dry (for pete's sake use a clean towel!)... apply a generous amount of deodorant/anti-perspirant. Brush your teeth. (if additional grooming is required, please do that too.) Step three. Clothing. Go to the place where you keep your clean clothes. No. Not the place where you put the stuff that you THINK you can wear again. The CLEAN clothes. You know that stuff that you just took from the dryer and folded nicely?? That's the stuff. Wear that shit. Uh oh... what if I have to do step one again?? Then repeat ALL the steps. Cuz skidmarks are not sexy. Febreeze showers are not acceptable. 4. I have to cancel, what do I do? Give your head a smack. With a hammer. Stop. Now take a pointy thing and stick it with great force into your upper thigh, avoiding the artery. Now, go to your car. Start it. Open the door, put your foot beneath a tire and have someone put that car in reverse. Cancellations? NOT COOL. We all know that shit happens. A death in the family. A sick kid. Decapitation with farm machinery. Thermonuclear war. Explosion of your planet from a death star ray. That shit is acceptable.... but you still owe the pretty lady an explanation AND a cancellation fee. When you cancel, providers don't eat. When providers don't eat they get distended bellies and look like kids from the CARE commercials. When you cancel, providers give not only you, but also your city, a bad reputation. This makes you masturbate more. Because you will never get laid again. Ever. You will over develop muscles in only one arm. Your clothes will fit poorly. People will figure it out and suspect you are the notorious masturbating king of cancellations. They will hunt you down and kill your family. Let's keep little Bobby and Joanie safe. If you make an appointment, keep that appointment. Your family will love you for it. 5. "I'm a little short on cash. Do you think she will notice if the envelope is a bit short?" In a word, yes. She will also point out that your penis is a bit short.... and that your skill level is a bit short... and that you cry like a bitch when you have your pathetic little man-gasm. Do you want that??? Do YOU WANT THAT, bitch??? Wow. That was a bit over-emphatic. Gonna step away from the computer and take a valium. BACK!!!! Where were we... yes. Shorting your provider. Not COOL. Remember, providers have special powers. They communicate telepathically. As soon as you walk out that door, she will know and so will all of her allies in the super friends. They will combine their superpowers and make sure that you never get wood again.... and if you do, it will be at inappropriate times... like at funerals or family gatherings or when talking to your grandfather or something like that. Seriously?? Give your head a shake. If you are short then GET the money and make sure you have it set aside BEFORE you book. You will have a wickedly awesome good time... just pay the pretty lady what you agreed to and enjoy! 6. Can I pay her in drugs? Hmmmm. Does your banker take drugs in lieu of money? Have you offered Rogers drugs in return for their cable/home phone/cell phone/internet bundle? When you get groceries at Loblaws, do they have a special drawer that says "financial equivalent in drugs?" You know the answer. "No, you addled-pated simpleton." Remember the distended belly part from above? Providers take cash because cash buys groceries, pays bills and looks pretty. Carrying cash will not get you arrested. Using cash is the engine that runs our capitalist society. "All you need is cash, cash is all you need." The Beatles sang that, I think. Your turn....

Last Monday, i was browsing cerb and stumbled across Sophie's add. She was planning to visit Ottawa December 11 to 14. I looked at her pics in her profile. Looked great. After a few texts, were i made a request fir her to wear a particular outfit, i was hooked. Her in call location was not convenient fir me si she offered to visit me at my place. No extra charge for this. Date set for Dec 11 She arrived on time. A few quick points. 1 - she speaks/understands english clearly 2 - she is a non smoker. 3 - she is bright, intelligent, quick witted and an absoloute joy to be with. I will not reveal any details of our encounter except to say she is exceptionally tallented. I recommend her to the nth degree.

Yes, if you do a search you will see that the photos were used in many adds all over the US and under different names. It is highly unlikely that a reputable provider would use different aliases, especially if she wanted to have and/or maintain a good reputation. Therefore, as stated previously, she may have "borrowed" the photos for her own use.

peter5551212, you are really lucky. I saw her once and it was a total nightmare. From the time I got there, she was totally distracted, then there was obviously someone upstairs, and she said it was her roommate, then she said it was a cleaning lady. I paid for an hour, and after 15 minutes, she said that she wasn't comfortable cause there was someone upstairs. Personally, I was getting a little worried for my safety and said figured to take the lost and get the hell out. I for one will never go see her again, and personally don't recommend anyone to go see her.

I am definitely an introvert and need a lot of time by myself. I feel calm and am able to then take on any tasks at hand
While I can be social and outgoing, I feel as though I can be a chameleon sometimes. It's funny because I once had some call me an attention w one time and I just laughed because this was someone who needed to be the centre of attention at all times and had to deflect and accuse me of that because they were probably jealous or envious for whatever reason. Once I realized they had narcissistic qualities, it all made sense. They were deflecting it onto me. I once remember being in my 20's and it was a time when I had more of the spinner body type happening and felt like I was "too out there". I didn't like the attention and was with my sister downtown parked in front of a outdoor patio where all these young guys were sitting drinking. We sat in my car until they left because we didn't want to walk past them. I never liked that sort of attention. I can be very unassuming when I want to be and I joke to people close to me that I can make myself invisible. I was very shy as a child but being in this business has brought me out of my shell but I still need my solitude. I can be outgoing when I need to be and shut it off when I want to. Its weird but if I really asked myself, I'm definitely an introvert.
I dont have a lot of friends, I don't go out a lot and keep to myself but I am never bored. Lol.

i have read that the teen who was arrested was also involved with at least one of the guys picked up (there were two guys involved) where they posted escort ads, got clients to come to her, then within a few minutes, the guys show up and kick the client out, having paid the fee and maybe getting more from them. I've seen a couple of reviews, this was in summer 2013 that was going on. In other words, all that might have been needed was the clients reporting this to LE at the time, it would have been multiple reports, the escort would have been approached by LE, and they would have discovered, at that time she was only 16. Now she is 17, the reports i read were over a year old.

For me, the new legislation will not impact the frequency of my visits, but will impact my choice in who I will see. I foresee sticking with the same ladies I know for the next few months (and also because I like them so much). I would certainly be more vigilant in looking up anyone new (reviews, reputation, etc.). I think this new legislation may make it more difficult for those starting out in this business, although I know alot of guys like ''the new girl''. It may be just me, but I believe there are more ladies in Ottawa than before. Either that or I am getting more frisky in my dirty thirties... :icon_wink:

Yes, it is very dead. I think many are aware of the new laws now even though media publications didn't announce it so much on December 6. Guys are being very cautious until they decide if and when they will feel comfortable again. What I've noticed is when they do call for info, it is only for rates now. They don''t say much. It will be regular clients that will carry the ladies over for now. I appreciate all my regulars. :)

I would encourage all of my fellow Hobbiests to really show Mr. Harper and the Conservatives what we think of their new law but booking an extra appointment in December... what could be better than spending an extra hour with an amazing lady while at the same time showing total contempt for this new law. This just shows our government is so screwed up and this incident just proves it! It also gives bad publicity to BP. Remember what happened when someone was murdered on CL? A woman in Boston was murdered and CL removed a particular section. It didn't take long for the Canadian government to request that same section be removed. Who is going to have to be murdered next for our government to realize that based on THEIR laws did someone get assaulted and/or muderered under their b.s. moral legislation? Instead of admitting fault, they will blame it on sites like BP and refuse to acknowledge their mistakes. This is the way this is heading...Even though I'm personally not a fan of BP, that site will be the scapegoat.

Because abortion rights means giving the sole right to terminate to the woman, which basically means a lack of any rights of the man. This sort of radfem is big on not letting men be able to do anything in regards to women, including whether or not their child is born or not (note i am a pro abortion, and really don't think it is a men's rights issue, however we are talking about why radfems don't view abortion as they do sex work when it comes to choice about what women can do with their bodies. ) Basically a radfem of this type does not want men to have anything, whether it is access to sex or access to children. To them the two things are not contradictory, because it is basically based not on woman's choice to do as they wish with their own bodies, but making sure that men do not have a choice at all. And basically, there is somewhat of a movement to not allow this type of anti sex worker person to call themselves 'feminist'. Instead, you can refer to them as SWERFs Swerf = sex work exclusionary radical feminist. A person who espouses to be a feminist but who does not believe that women engaged in ANY form of voluntary sex work should be included in the fight for equality, especially in employment or salary parity. This rabid exclusion of an entire class of women is usually a belief based on misplaced uptight morality. Terf is used for that special brand of SWERFer who does not believe that any male transitioning or transitioned to female should ever be considered a woman. Because, according to a TERF, that person did not 'live' as a woman, and therefore does not count.

I agree and thank you Berlin. I think that middle part that I hilited is very apt in this situation. It is very similar to what this new anti-prostitution movement is often compared to and that is Prohibition which was spearheaded by what was then called "the suffragettes" because of men coming home drunk and being violent. While what they were advocating against was very important, their solution to the problem was flawed and eventually caused more problems then it solved because they didn't understand the situation completely. And as for the radical feminists who go way over the top, I agree that they are indeed a very small portion of feminists in general. Like virtually every term about a certain group of people, whoever they may be, we shouldn't paint them all with the same brush. Myself, I respect those feminists who merely want to be treated respectfully and equally. I work alongside some women in construction that while maybe being smaller or less physically gifted in some ways make up for it in spades with a great attitude and work ethic that frankly puts some of my male co-workers to shame. I admire that greatly.

To the OP: As your first and only post in the 19 months you've been a member... I'm a little concerned you haven't learned to manage your cell phone discretely. Having your incoming messages viewed by others is not only uncomfortable for you but can also cause unwanted issues for the ladies you're communicating with. As Nicolette recommends: delete, delete, delete!

I love cuddling too! Many gentlemen long for affection where their needs may not be met at home. Imo, it's a human need. I have met a few in the past where they just come to cuddle and take a nap together.

Feeling very sad and depressed. This time last year my mother spent November and December in the hospital. January will be the first anniversary of her death. She died of bone cancer. :(

Somebody out there who has the experience may enlighten us, but has this not been a very popular activity in Japan for many years post-war? I think it went under the heading of a "Snack". A distraught overworked business man may stop off in a cozy little cabana for a scotch and a cuddle before taking the train home to a (supposedly) cold wife.

I found that website a while ago http://www.thesnuggery.org/index.html I've seen articles about it in the past year...seem to be becoming more popular. Thought clothes say on, no sexual contacts, no kissing. Just napping and snuggling with someone :)
