I want to say something to Tom's family and friends to ease the pain of the lost of a great gentleman. Tom(The liquor) and I also shared some great things in common. While words can never fully express how much someone means to us, language can still provide comfort solace, hope and even inspiration following the death of a loved one. In the darkest moment in Tom's life I deserted him, I had a difficult time seeing someone like him laughing his way out of our lives, I was in pain for him. I feel terrible about it now but I want to offer my condolences to his family and to you all, his friends.

I confess that this thread is really hot and that although I have never met Cristy and Mia, I'm turned on by what they confess about. I met Tom once and he was a very charismatic man full of life. Although he has stepped over into into the non-physical ( I dont use the word death because I believe we are all eternal beings) I will raise a toast to celebrate his life and the man that he was. A barbie doll. I never understood why my sisters played with them. You couldn't bend their arms or their legs. It was impossible putting on or taking off their clothes. In real life she would be 5'9", 110 pounds, 39 16 33 with a size 3 shoe. Personally I prefer my measurements of 5'2", 138 lbs, 32D 28 35 with a size 7 shoe. A very determined young lady,she wants to show everyone she has what it takes to "make it to the top".I guess the poor photographer friend being older had a hard time keeping up to her.I know myself Mary has unbridled energy,somewhat similar to the energizer bunny. Yesterday was a very sad day for our family. Our dog, or specifically my daughter's dog which was 12 years old and had been my daughter's faithful companion passed away. He was a great faithful dog that wouldn't hurt a flea. We've had many animals at home during the 20 years. At times we had a mini zoo at home. He's had cat's, rabbits and snakes put on him. And he was kind of them all. The last couple of month's had been rough, as he was having troubles walking and had to be lifted up so that he could limp outside to go for a pee. But the last couple months, he had to go outside every 2 hours for a pee :(. I think his kidneys had been failing. My daughter had recently moved out and he was faithfully waiting each day at the front door to wait for her. She did come home every couple of days for dinner and to see him. He was happy each time he saw her. But my daughter was sad as she could see that he was getting worst each day. She is an animal fanatic and loved her dog very much. It was her that suggested that maybe it was time for him to be put to sleep. She was in tears when she said this, but she didn't want him to suffer. She has been coming home each night to spend time with him and to sleep in the family room with him each night, She woke up 3 to 4 times each night to let him out. Last night she felt he was going soon, and bought him a Mac Donald's burger and fries. When we got home he was lying on his side panting. But when he saw the burger and fries, he perked up and gobbled down his meal. Soon afterwards he lied down on his side and starting convulsing and breathing hard and his eye's were rolling back. We thought that he was going to pass soon. The family and her best friend sat with him for several hours, petting and talking too him. We then decided to call a vet that does home visit's to put him to sleep. We did not want to suffer more. We found a vet that could come within 30 minutes. While waiting we surrounded him with love and kept petting him. When the vet arrive. She apologized for being late. She was nice french woman that is serious about her job. She was very caring and compassionate. She kept us informed as to his health status and kept reinforcing to my daughter that she was doing the right thing. His kidneys had failed and he was dying and could be in this conditions for hours before he passed. We told her to put him to sleep. She explained to us what would happen at each state and asked for permission to go ahead. She told us to keep petting him and talking to him as she prepared the needles. First injection was to put him to sleep and relax him. This would take about 15 minutes she said. Meanwhile my daughter is crying and telling her dog that it was okay for him to go, and that he was a good dog. We were all crying as we sat around him. And we were telling stories about him as a puppy. the vet said that it was good that we did not bring him to a vet hospital as it is stressful for the dogs, as they get stressed going to the vet as they have memories about previous visit's to the vet. It is too clinical and cold. It is better for him to pass at his home with his loved ones around him. After 15 minutes, he was sleeping, she administered the final injection that would stop his heart, this would take about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds he stopped breathing and looked at peace. My daughter then cried for a while. The vet was very soothing and tried to comfort my daughter. After giving us time to say goodbye to our loyal family member. We wrapped his body in his favourite blanket and she promised that she would respect the body and bring it home with her until the people came tomorrow to take the body for cremation. She said that would bring back his ashes when they were ready. I was very much impressed with the vet's attention to detail and how compassionate and understanding she was. There was no rush and she kept us informed at all times at what to expect. She even gave us each a big hug before she left. This at home visit was the best way for us to say goodbye to our loving pet. He passed away with his family and friends around him. Our other dog laid on his body after he passed, I think she knew what happen and was looking for him today. He is at peace now and his memory will stay with us forever. My daughter is now compiling all her pictures of him and making a digital album. Just wanted to share this experience with you and if you have to say bye to your pet a at home visit from one of these loving vet's is a great way to do so. May he Rest in Peace :)

I wouldn't be to hard on yourself though, we all grieve differently and handle someone we care for dying differently. No one should judge and none of us will know how we will handle death when it comes for us until it happens. What matters is you cared. Hugs

My condolences to you and family, I feel your pain been through it 4 times and it never gets easier to lose the closest friend a person can have. I do like to say I was impressed with how your vet handled the situation, he/she is a stand up person, the experiences i've had with vets are never great, they want to gouge you at this time in your pets life they love to feed on emotions. One experience I had a vet wanted to charge me an extra 40$ to be with my friend as they euthanized him, I asked why the nurse said it was for the stress the doctor goes through when pet owners cry, I almost lost it on her. I did petitioned them to death until they closed shop. Let time heal the memories and when you are ready always get a rescue you are helping a lost soul and creating new fun memories. good luck.

Hi I've been a member of cerb for over two years now. and have read the posts of these women almost every day and have the opportunity to meet a small selected few of the women in Ottawa. It is with heartfelt thanks to my appreciation to the kind caring women of Cerb that post and contribute their opinions and advice to us men. I bought a prime rib roast beef on sale. When I got it home, realized it was bad. Went back and made them cut a fresh one double the original to compensate me for my troubles. It was delish with the gravy and Yorkshire pudding.

Although in person we never met, I've seen and heard it all.... the humour, laughter, snide remarks, he never seemed to fail.... to see the funny side of life, even in the darkest hours of his life. A man who saw life for what it was, a joy to be taken by the short and curly's and taken for a ride. Tom was one of the first people to welcome me on this board. I have followed almost all of his postings, and his quick-witted banter in answers to some postings. Most of it made me laugh. But when I got to the postings where he describes his illness, it made me really sad. The fact that this man has a sense of humor, and a sex drive to the nth degree to the very end........makes me severely happy :-) I can just imagine him, looking around the room for camel toe, and for anyone that is willing to give him a show. Good man, Tom ;-) He graced us with his presence on this board. Gave advice where it was needed, and a telling off where it was definitely needed. His battle with this terrible infliction he faced head on, and didn't let it stop him from being who he is. An amazingly strong person. No one should stop living their life the way they want to lead it, just because of an infliction. Albeit this infliction has an end that is not favorable, Tom let us into that very personal side of his life. For that, I am grateful to him to have been privileged enough to be a part of it. Tom, you made my year on this board immensely satisfying. Your welcoming words were greeted with happiness. I smile and laugh at your wit, and can see that you are a good and decent person. Carry that on to the next life, I, for one, want to meet you on the other side ;-) I cannot say that I am looking forward to your last posting, as it means that you are gone. When that fateful time does come, I will raise my glass of rare single malt scotch to your memory, shed a tear or two with friends, and think fondly of your kind words to me. Be peaceful my friend, bless you for everything that you gave me here.

Phaedrus is absolutely correct in what he says. A polite email goes a long ways in meeting a lady. I would add, in addition to your email being polite, provide all other screening information a lady requests (real name, phone, email address, board handle confirmed by PM etc) This shows an openness and honesty on your part, which goes a long ways to secure trust. Even if you don't see the lady, your personal information is safe with a professional companion. It's not the last thing I purchased, but it's the last hobby-related thing I purchased. I was bloated and constipated the night before a meeting, so I gulped a few mouthfuls of Milk of Magnesia.
