4 pointsGood morning ladies and gents; As the title suggest I will be posting something for an OT xmas social on Thursday December 10th. However before I do that I mentioned after cancelling the fall social, I would let everyone know why we cancelled it. I am really sorry for such a long delay, I have been very busy and sometimes its good to take a step back and read other member's comments. That being said, keep in mind that I am not pointing fingers at anyone in particular as it has been a combination of issues that has lead to cancelling the last 2 events. First summer social: it was cancelled to to very few gents attending. Mistert and I had tried to get a summer social going a few years ago and same thing happened then. It would be great to have a summer BBQ, however I Think with kids out of school and family vacations its hard for gents to get away at that time of the year. Fall social: Cancelled cause there were only 5 ladies attending, including my co-organizer (3 MA's, 1 Out of town SP and 1 local SP) As I mentioned in a previous post, its obvious looking at the advertising section that ladies membership in OT has come down over the past year. Also I already mentionded that since spring social 2 yrs ago we had to book double the number of ladie's tickets to have between 20 and 30 ladies attending. Why? Even though we started a cover charge for ladies, as suggested on a separate thread, we have had up to 50% of the SPs being no show. Therefore we compensated by having more MA's attend as we don't think gents want to attend a sausage fest. Seems that is causing a problem for some. First one spa told their ladies not to attend the social even though 4 of them had reserved tickets. In addition some comments I received were: "too many young girls attending"or " too many MA's attending. My answer to that is that social is for all ladies in the community and as long as they behave, even dancers are welcome to attend. Also we got blamed for 2 ladies not behaving at the last social. We, as organizers can not answer to everyone's behavior. However we can do like it has been done since the first social I attended, that is suspend members who's behavior has been inappropriate provided it is reported to us. In the case of 2 ladies and one gent from last party. who's behavior was not acceptable, they did get banned from the fall social. We are doing our job!!! Other feedback I have received, is that some ladies, who were regular social attendees have stopped coming to socials because of friction with other ladies that have happened in the exclusive Board area. Other feedback is that there are many new ladies attending. Well what can we do, its a fast evolving business and members change. Another comment that was actually posted on the board, is the visiting ladies that attend the social take business away from locals. So , its many little event's which I would call political that jeopardizes the OT social. Keep in mind that very few ladies not active on this board, who advertises elsewhere, attend the social. There are ladies who never did and never will for personal reasons and we have to respect that. Therefore, given are small ladies active membership, we can't afford not to open our doors to the out of town ladies and everyone else in the industry no matter what part of it they are involved. We need everyone to put the interest of the community ahead of personal bickering. I still believe socials are an awesome event and one of the best think to bring our community together. But it's not just an organizer's event, its everyone'as event. Lastly what would help is for anyone active on the board, when you log in, take a few seconds to post the link to the xmas social in the shout box. Not everyone has time to go through the general discussion area and we had many ppl find out about socials at the very last minute. I used to put shouts multiple times a day, however I don't have the free time I used to. So some help in advertising the event would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your support and mark December 10th on your calendars. I will post prices soon on a separate thread. They should be same as was posted for Fall social!

3 pointsAs a child of the late 60's and early 70's the anthems of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez still ring true to me. Justice and freedom are very important to me and as those artists did in their own way through their music and as anti Vietnam war protesters did in their way, Canadians this past week called for their own freedom and their own quest for justice with the overwhelming choice to dump the Harper agenda and his way of dictating. Mr. Trudeau made many election promises and now that he is in the real world it shall be of great interest to me and to many whether he will honor those promises. The promise that probably should be of common interest to all of us here is his opposition to Bill C-36 which has become the bill entitled the, "Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act." There have been references to this in other threads with the general feeling seeming to be that it will not be a priority for Mr. Trudeau to change and therefore we should not expect the repeal of the legislation to happen at least in the short term. Despite being a political junkie and following it closely I am probably one of the least politically aware people in the country about how things actually happen. My own thought is that if it is going to happen then it will have to happen relatively early in his mandate because once another election draws near in four years it would become a political football. This brings me to the point of this thread. When the Supreme Court of Canada struck down the old laws in order to remove dangerous working conditions for sex workers there were many of us here who wrote letters to our Members of Parliament, to the Minister of Justice and to the Prime Minister, all without success. The Conservatives had plotted their course and did what they were going to do regardless of facts or research or the Supreme Court decision. I will argue that now is the time for another writing campaign to our new Members of Parliament, to our new Prime Minister and to the new Minister of Justice once he or she is appointed. As well, since the Supreme Court decision came down I have sent $50 a month, or at least most months, to P.O.W.E.R in order to give my little bit by way of support. It is organizations such as P.O.W.E.R out of Ottawa, and STELLA out of Montreal and P.I.V.O.T out of B.C. that may well be the organizations of sex worker advocates that exert formal, "Pressure," on the new government to repeal the law and decriminalize. Any little bits of financial support that you can send their way may be a wonderful personal investment for each and every one of us. I shall do my letter writing to parliamentarians and continue my little bits of financial support to sex worker rights advocates. I hope that many of us will do the same. Now is not the time to sit back but rather the time to become active and vocal again.

3 pointsI saw this lady today and must concur. An hour that you'd have to look far and wide to duplicate.

2 pointsAre you a lover of sheer clothing? Do you admire the person wearing it? Or do you enjoy wearing it to show yourself off? I am one of those person(who likes looking) and these are pictures that I like. Fishnet clothing and stockings are in the sheer category to me.

2 pointsIt's not safe with condoms if that's what your asking but it's very good as a massage oil.

2 pointsI think the key difference is that, in the mind of most of the public, all sex work is automatically a kind of degradation and violence inflicted upon an unwilling or just desperate provider. With drinking or smoking (or smoking), to whatever extent that there is harm, it's pretty much one person harming themselves. People have an easier time dispensing with prohibition when it's a matter of one person and their own bottle/cigarette/whatever. But when you have view of sex work I described above, then the argument that defeated prohibition doesn't work. It's not someone and their bottle, it's someone and their victim. Who would want to accommodate THAT? And you know, I *totally* understand and sympathize with people who think that way. They're working with the only (dubious) information that they have. Who wouldn't feel as they do, if you believed the same thing? The only solution is to provide the public with more positive models of sex work and sex workers. Once people can wrap their heads around the idea that perfectly healthy women can choose such work, and that those women are their neighbours and colleagues and (gasp) even daughters, then the reflexive recoil will subside. And of course, there aren't just female sex workers. (Incidentally, who else has seen the one-season TV show "Terriers"? I just re-watched it a couple of weeks ago, and one episode features a great, funny, respectful, and sympathetic part for a trans streetwalker. EVERYONE should watch Terriers.) At the same time, of course, we DO need to be vigilant about providing supportive services so that nobody can be pressed into sex work or feel like it's their only option. But it doesn't take special sex-work rules to accomplish that; just good social services, period.

1 pointWondering if any other SPs use coconut oil as lube on the job? It's my favourite lube for personal use, though it can be a little tricky to manipulate... :)

1 pointThought this could be fun, for us food passionate people! Every dinner I make I try to create flavor, presentation, healthy balance, color, and at times a new challenge. Tonight's dinner is: Scallop and shrimp skewers. Dressed red pepper, mini portabello, Spanish onion, zucchini. Brushed with olive oil and herbs then straight to the BBQ:) Served with wild rice, with mixed lentil! So what's for dinner tonight??

1 pointfrom the point of view of an SP, whomever you choose to have, make sure you follow the instructions of the SP. Most of us will ask for the name the room is registered under and the room number. This way we can confirm that you are actually there. You have no idea how many times people will make bogus calls with hotels, and we show up and their is either no one in that room or it's been reserved by some unsuspecting husband and wife, and we then look really foolish. A 30 minute out call is not really a lot of time, most will only go for an hour or more, but that is the discretion of the SP that you book. Leaving the donation in plain site is expected, but again, up to the individual SP. If the SP you are considering has a website, check that out, we have 'contact' pages on our sites. As for etiquette, that also is explained in our sites. Hope this was helpful, and good luck with whomever you choose.

1 pointAs a non smoker, I'll respectfully stay out of the fray. However, Judging from Justin's recent comments, it would seem that Trudeau has already made up his mind on the issue. Now without trying to hijack this thread, I just want to draw everyone's attention to the above qoute. In that respect, it would seem Trudeau is on the right path. Why then, when it comes to an issue like sex for money, does everyone seem to balk? (ourselves excluded, of course). It's really the same issue, isn't it? We're consenting adults, and the SCC would seem to agree with the aforementioned quote as well. That is why they struck down the old laws, in an effort to pave the way for those who work in this field to be safe. There is an article which mentions that the Liberals are committed to repealing bill C-36, yet I've also heard Trudeau say in an interview in 2014 that he 'considers prostitution a form of violence against women.' How ironic... the real violence will come as a result of our current law. All I'm saying is, if he's so gung ho about the marijuana issue, then he should feel the same about scrapping C-36. That's all... (my rant for the day).

1 pointOne of my concerns about total legalizations of marijuana is that if the government begins to grow and package it as they do with cigarettes they will turn into a cancer causing product that tobacco is now. Look at tobacco before the government got their hands on it, before the formaldehyde, benzene and 50 other bad bad chemicals. Tobacco on its own, in it's natural form is not cancer causing. They only add these in so that they can stock pile them in warehouses to be kept for years on end till finally sold to the public. They would end up doing the same to marijuana if given the chance and then rather being a cure for cancer it will be the cause of it. I think we should leave it as medicinal use only for the legalizations.

1 pointAnd a new era begins, at least new possibilities. I am not naive about the Liberals and their history, but at least politics will be done in a different style, and that's a start. One journalist observed tonight how Harper's cronies refused to answer questions and eveything was top secret and paranoid. The new pm struck a very different note. That is encouraging. But citizens have to keep up the pressure for a repeal of all the bad Harper legislation...and to reverse the dismantling of public services. Harper leaves a terrible legacy of destruction.

1 pointOk all. Please do NOT trash me for this and PLEASE understand I ask this with all the integrity possible. How do we know, as customers of MP, that the attendants are TRULY working because THEY WANT to and are not "forced". The unfortunate truth about this industry does connect it to human trafficking. I have asked many of my MAs if they "enjoy" working there, and do "they" (their bosses) treat them well. Of course, they have always answered yes. How can we be sure that when we visit our favourite MP, that it is NOT part of that world? I could never imagine myself enjoying my massage knowing that the woman that is "taking care of me" has been forced from her home and forced into this line of work. We can't be naive enough to think that this only goes on in other countries... Thoughts?
-
1 pointI think that's an important distinction that Phaedrus makes. The trafficking side of things, and all that entails, is one thing. And something that certainly needs to combated and curtailed. The other side of the forced coin is that of circumstance and opportunity. Circumstances and lack of other opportunities cause many (I'd argue the majority...that's another discussion) to work jobs they don't like. It's a simple fact of life...regardless of economic system. We do what we need to, honestly and with honour, in order to put food on the table and there's absolutely no shame in that. The opposite, in fact. And that's what the "Sex work is work" movement is promoting, in my opinion.

1 pointAgree with the other comments. Absolutely no guarantees. I too try and stick with reputable agencies or indies. I also do quite abit of research before I meet someone so look for patterns of reputability, some time in the business, and just the way the individual or company is presented. In fact generally with independent ladies they have a sense of professionalism, purpose and confidence that also seems to come through. And in fact that is a quality I find attractive so often draws me. I also generally tend to see ladies I've met and had a good connection with over and over again. So that does help as you get to know each other a little more and then for me - ensures they're doing it because they want to. Again no guarantees, but that seems to help me in my journey. Cub

1 pointIt's a good - and fair - question. I've always worked on the basis that anyone at one of the spas with a good reputation is almost certainly there because she applied for the job, and is free to leave if she wishes; the frequency with which MAs tend to come and go (and come back again, sometimes at the same spa and sometimes at a different one) tends to make me think there's no coercion going on. I also think well-established and recommended indies are OK - anyone who's running a business herself is, again, probably doing so because she's chosen to. But in this case I'm thinking of the MAs that have been around for a while, who are active on the boards, and who may have their own website; not all of that is required by any means, but I look for more than just the occasional post on BP or wherever. As for whether any given person is really doing what she wants, or just doing what pays the bills... that's another matter entirely, and to some extent I think that's unknowable for us clients. But let's face it, there's a lot of people out there doing a job they'd perhaps not have chosen, but keep at it because it's better than the alternatives. I suspect most people in call centers, for example, would rather be elsewhere...
-
1 pointWhen it comes to this line of work you really can never be 100% sure that women are doing what they want and enjoy it. This is especially true for MP's or street work. I have never worked as an MP, but my understanding is that often they are staffed by women new to the country, in those cases it is the risk you take as a client that you are supporting trafficing. I hope you are not, but in our world it exists. I try to believe that most of the women in this "world" are doing this the same as me. I really want to believe that, but I just don't know for a fact. I simply implore you, that if you have ANY reason to believe that a woman or establishment is a product of exploitation that you do not encourage it and even contact the authorities if you feel women are at risk. I love what I do, I had a little crisis at one point, but I truly love it....and only women that want to do what we do should be. If anyone is forced I want those women saved.
-
1 pointI hear you brother! I know that horniness has overcome my better judgement before and may well do so again. Although I don't like to single out Asian massage/escort services they're the ones that I've felt less than comfortable with. When a provider has very limited language skills I have to think that they have few options for other employment. I tend to visit only verified independents and spas like CMJ, ALO group, Vibe. Given their turn-over in MA's I think there are plenty of options available to the ladies to do as they wish. I also find those spas and others 'appear' to be above board. This question also has me musing that C-36 probably made this situation worse: the anonymity of trafficked providers is in competition with the ones who may wish to avail themselves of an independent work place. Good question, a moral dilemma and one we should always think about. This thread may gain even more traction in the general discussion area..... but everyone seems to visit the ottawa postings!

1 pointMen who get one SP mixed up with another by calling several ads in the same part of town. No offense to the other lady. This happened recently... Guy comes in and then says outright "You're not the slim 45 year old mature blonde. I'm not into big girls." My reply was "Yes and I'm not into you either. Now please leave." If he took the time to actually read the right ad, he would be aware of who he was actually calling! I have no time for pricks who don't think with their big head first. And then a few minutes later on the phone.. "Hello Vanessa?" Sigh..
