My apologies in advance. My post is long and a bit heavy, but a highlight for me today, nevertheless. I finally understand how important it was for me to spend a couple of weeks with my grandfather in Laura, Saskatchewan over fifty years ago. My grandmother had to go somewhere. My grandfather had suffered a stroke and needed someone to stay with him, just in case. We were living in Saskatoon, not far away. It was summer - a beautiful warm, dry Saskatchewan summer. I was twelve or thirteen, I think. I was the one who would be with my grandfather. I didn't understand then how important my presence could be. My grandfather had four children, including my mother, the eldest, and one son, Joseph (Joe), the youngest. Joe was very talented but quite wild around the edges - spoiled rotten, drank too much, chased skirts and ended up in the St. Lawrence River in his early thirties, with a wife and many children in St. John's, NL. I resembled Joe a lot. I would guess that my being with my grandfather comforted him greatly. We very much enjoyed being together. We exchanged very few words, but lots of connection. We would go for walks and collect beer bottles and mushrooms, which he would cook in butter. Yummy! In the afternoon he would smoke his pipe in his den, and take a nap. Beautiful, peaceful times! I actually went to Halifax to work once. It was a personal vacation, and if I could see a gent or two, perfect, however, if I didn't, no big deal. I was travelling with my dog, so limited on hotels. I found one in Dartmouth, and made a reservation. However, once I got there, I was like, no way, I will not stay there. I drove around, and found a beautiful hotel just 5 minutes away from the one I was going to stay at. 100% difference in the two hotels. Spent the weekend there, had a blast, and enjoyed myself. However, some of the guys that called me were like, No, I won't travel to Dartmouth. No big deal to me, as I was having a great time. For those that did come to see me, they were surprised at the hotel and that it was nice. It was a chain, so the standards are the same for each location. So, yes, Dartmouth seems to have a bad reputation. I'm not from NS, so don't know all the ins and outs. However, my one experience staying at a hotel there, is yes, there is a difference that is like night and day within the same block. Funny, the nice hotel, was only $20 more per night then the dive I originally booked. Good luck beautiful!

It's probably safe to say that there are a number of variables that come into play when deciding to visit any lady. Short answer: all of the above. It's your choice what to do in the situation but most would say be polite, say no thanks and leave and don't put yourself in a potentially dangerous situation. For those interested (yes you should get a annual CPP report from them) OR go online to Service Canada then you can log on using your own financial bank, create your log in security questions, and voila you can see all your past history of contributions to CPP. That said, yes the link I posted was dated however when you read what happened to poor George at that magical age, his job loss it seriously makes you think about key issues on how Service Canada can f*** a individual over after putting all those years into a job and contributed to CPP. I'm not telling anyone how to organize their retirement and I hope everyone that hits the magical age, do research. I did what was in my best interest, I asked my financial planner. BTW I still have 5 years and 10 years before those ages to collect, just goes to show you are never too young or a little older to plan for your future. Yes I wanted that freedom 55 and I'm still at it because it is difficult to not work (I took off 6 months and hated it, but loved the travel, I like to keep busy) and being able to sweeten the retirement pot. ;)

In terms of inflation and the impact it might have... well to compare any financial item over time you have to compare constant dollars so inflationary impacts must be considered especially if we are talking about something spread over 15 to 20 years. For example if the taking of the early payments allows you to purchase a retirement property now versus waiting 5 to 10 years when the value may have gone up 10% or more a year then it becomes easy to see why inflation and the usage to which the funds will be put to becomes important. Frankly it's not really possible to know which option is better without knowing all the details related ti the individuals situation... that said discussions like this are important because it gets people thinking ahead of time about retirement... thanks for starting th thread. Basicly your math is right but like most of life's decisions it is not really that simple... you have not factored in inflation or any investment of the money you might receive earlier or if the money might have been used to paydown or pay off a high interest debt earlier. Bottom line there is a break even point but it is different for every person's individual situation... Just my Opinion

I always encourage showers for hygiene and I usually give a few extra minutes for it. Most take a 2 or 3 minute shower which is reasonable. What is not reasonable is someone taking more than 5 minutes and then wanting to take another minute shower after. A half hour appt turns into 45. Most guys I have never seen do this. I've had it happen where someone spent 10 minutes in there before and 15 minutes and found it completely unacceptable and wearing out their welcome. I had to knock on the door because I had to leave and I was getting suspicious. They took their sweet ass time and knew they were doing it. That is someone I would never repeat with. While the above is a rare and an extreme case, I don't count the time for a quick shower of 2 or 3 minutes. I'm not a clock watcher with this but if someone is taking advantage of more than 5 minutes, I have no qualms in telling them they are cutting into the appointment.

I am so happy when a client who is coming over asks beforehand if they can use my shower. It is important, I like someone clean. Most come directly from work (i.e construction workers) and it's nice how they clean up before we engage in anything. Shower fun is also enjoyed. Some want to just step in quickly and out.

Generally it's part of the appointment, yes. Having said that... Showers for two are a lot of fun. Sometimes it's difficult to remember that the shower isn't supposed to be the entire appointment :) Even if you're just quickly cleaning up before the fun starts, the lady you're with will undoubtedly appreciate your concern for hygiene, which may result in you having more fun than you might otherwise, or perhaps she'll add a little bit on to the end for you.
