With this being 2016 and with sixty plus years of experience behind me I really thought that we had progressed, that we had learned, that times have changed. I knew that we were not all the way there, or perhaps even knew that there was a long way yet to go, but never did I think that we have made such little progress. I refer of course to the present debate in the United States over the words and actions of Donald Trump as related to women. The fact that a man can brag about his past history of sexually assaulting women, who brags of being a voyeur behind the scenes of his beauty pageants, who verbally degrades women so obviously can be a candidate for the President of the United States blows me away. Totally. That however is not the worst of it. The fact that he still has thousands of people who attend his rallys, has millions that plan to vote for him, and that the majority of his party's political candidates still will support him is beyond scary. Women in the United States should be terrified of the tone that he is setting and of the message that he is very directly giving to boys and men. What he has said is not simple locker room talk or boys will be boys stuff. These were not just words but rather were descriptions of actions and to this point he has been correct in saying that, "If you are a star then you can do anything." Is it however just in the United States that this is dangerous? Canada has a pretty powerful neighbor just to the south and its actions and its beliefs influence us in this country, like it or not. As a man even from a foreign country to the United States I am embarrassed and angry about his words, his actions, and his normalizing of behavior that promotes violence against women. I am not like that and in my heart I don't believe that the majority of men are like that. The other question that arises, as this has in fact has brought the most blow back on Mr. Trump, is why did it take so long? Comments that are blatantly racist concerning blacks, Latinos and Islam, his comments about the disabled, his comments inviting foreign governments to hack his opponents, his willingness to jail a political opponent all received a general pass. That is for a different thread. Right now it is about women and our respect for them and this is personal to me. Apparently there are many who still in 2016 do not have that respect. Sad. I wish I had a vote in the U.S. If anyone did not hear the speech today from Michelle Obama on this topic, it was probably the best speech that I have ever heard.

The case took 3 years to investigate, and the charges indicate that they found 9 (NINE) minors in all that time. doesn't seem to be a hub for underage trafficking at all. and it didn't say whether or not one of those are the fake ad that L E posted on the site. they clearly used the site to find these 9 actual victims, regardless of how few there may be, clearly the site itself led to the discovery and 'rescue' and i assume arrest of real traffickers. But i've also seen voluntary underage sex workers posting their own ads, and having a friend or someone helping them end up getting arrested just for being near them. also other sex workers, like a 20 year old gets arrested because she may not want her 17 year old friend to work alone. all those get thrown into the stats they claim they rescued. In the US, 'rescue' usually means arrest or detaining them. CL was never shut down, they removed the adult section as a form of protest, and learning lesson for all the Attorney Generals. They said, the ads will appear somewhere else, and they were right. Ads were on backpage all during the time of the CL erotic services and adult section postings. US LE gives out names and photos to the news, who then post all that info and all the charges. the problem with that is they are just charges, not convictions, and most of the time there are no convictions.

On one side, you've got the usual lot of abolitionists and puritans who want anything to do with the sex industry shut down. On the other... The reason for this is the principle that under US Federal law, no website is held responsible for things other people post on it. This is set out in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and it has become one of the cornerstones of the Internet as we know it. This law is the only reason sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc can continue to exist: without it, they'd be liable to be prosecuted by any state actor who didn't like something posted there, and sued by any private citizen with a similar objection. That would obviously destroy the viability of their businesses. And that same law protects Backpage: there is no requirement for them to police the ads that are posted there and ensure that the posters are who they say they are, or are of legal age, or anything else. I really hope they fight it; I suspect they'll win if they do. Unfortunately the AGs who are driving this have sufficient resources at their disposal to make someone's life a living hell even if they have no case at all, and there's a distinct possibility of a settlement just to make it all go away. I agree totally with this post. if your late, then its your fault. if they're late, its their fault. Especially with an agency, they should make it up to you, and dont be shy to say something to them directly. if you dont, they certainly wont say anything to you, and it could very well become more frequent that this happens to other clients.

If you book an hour and pay for an hour, then you should get an hour. End of story. If you're late, it comes out of your time; if they're running late, it comes out of theirs, or they make it up to you some other way. I've had a similar experiences in the past at a spa, which I think was because the provider in question was booking clients back-to-back with no time in between to turn the room around, if her twitter feed was anything to go by, so that had to come out of cutting sessions short. I let the spa know and they said they'd have a word with her... but I have no idea whether anything changed as I never went back to that provider :) That's not the only time I've been out the door much faster than I should have been, and it's something I have pretty much no tolerance for. If I pay for an hour and you have me out the door in 45 minutes then good for you, you did well on that session... but I'll never see you again.

Airport pros.. hotels are generally cheaper.. less traffic.. and often can find free parking. Downtown.. easy access to subway.. and stores if you need Cons.. airport can be easy access for travelling off the hwy and from other areas like mississauga, brampton, vaughn.. etc. Cons.. downtown.. parking is often a major issue.. more noise.. and obviously more traffic. hotels are generally more expensive

I agree with the sentiment that we should not objectify people, whether women in this industry or not but perhaps the delivery could have been done without the final paragraph. To put down those with a lower rate than yourself, to say that you get what you pay for implies that there is a hierarchy based on rate in this industry when in fact I don't agree with that. We all offer different services, model our businesses differently and service different areas of the market. There is a market for the $80-100 ladies and yes some of those ladies may not offer great service but then some ladies that have rates much higher than mine also are not "gems". To say that price is the determining factor means that I am about twice as good as you and I don't believe anyone can say that. We simply target a different clientele and have a different business model, we may appeal to different people as well but there may be some overlap, of that I am not entirely sure as I am not in Ottawa that often. I think it's important for everyone to realise though that there is a market for everyone has a role. Some of these ladies are likely not happy in their present situation but that can happen in any market. I know ladies that do not enjoy the longer dinner dates and travel that I prefer, they like to focus on the shorter 1hr engagements. I myself will not offer those as I do not enjoy them. It doesn't make any one of us better or worse, and definitely does not guarantee you are a better companion than anyone else in the eyes of your client. What makes you a better business woman is when you recognize what works best for you and work within your comfort zone, clients appreciate someone that is happy offering a service they enjoy and from my understanding that is what you do. Perhaps some of the ladies that offer shorter dates or have a profit model that is based on higher volume are also content in their situation and I don't think it's right for us to put them down for that. **** end of my little detour **** As to the topic... Personally I don't get a lot of the negotiating requests, when I do I stop to re-evaluate where I am marketing and my ad content. I can ignore one or two emails about my consideration but more than that means I am somehow failing in my communication and I need to be more effective. As an example recently I decided to post on a new advertising board and had several people contact me about my "one hour rate" or perhaps "I'll contact you again in a week when you drop your rates, you must be new." I was in a city I had visited several times so I wasn't at all concerned about it, the only new factor was the new board I had advertised on but all the additional emails about the rates were a make work situation for my assistant so I was able to determine quite quickly this was not a place I would be advertising in the future and in fact I deleted the ad early as I didn't want her to be wasting time answering these inquiries. It wasn't the fault of the potential client but rather I wasn't reaching out to my market.

If I may put my nickel' worth in here... I really wish people would stop comparing women to tires, McDonalds, cars and the list goes on. We are human beings and offering an intimate service. While we do have a list of services we offer, we are not a drive thru where you have it your way. And as Meg said, this is a luxury service. Not something that is a necessity in life like a roof over your head or food to put on the table. Seeing an SP is a privelege, not a right. It becomes very disconcerting that people think of humans this way no matter what one's view on prostitution is. At the end of the day, we are PEOPLE with feelings and emotions. If we were robots, I don't think negotiating would be a problem because the service would be mechanical and the entire experience that men seek out which is intimacy would be a moot point because there would be none. If you want a menchanical experience, there are lot of ads out there that offer $80-$100 experience but remember you get what you pay for. And if one thinks they're going to get the whole nine yards, you are in for a big disappointment. They can advertise the best experience all they want but for that amount they will do the minimal required and that will be it. There will be no established connection, none of the extras that a higher end SP will offer but again if that's what a hobbyist wants, then there is a market for it with lots of supply and demand.
