Thanks for tracking down this link RG. An update to the mod's post in that thread: 'Joyful Spirit', whom he refers to, is now board member JoyfulC. While we haven't heard from her in the past few months I will always hold her with the greatest appreciation and respect.

Hey All, So here we are in 2019 and I hope you all had an incredible 2018 as we surely did! It’s been just over two years now for VIPFavours and so many amazing things have happened, and with that comes a lot of planning about direction and longevity for any company. For two years we’ve had VIPFavours be a free open source of advertising, we covered our costs with featured ads that select providers used. In April as you all know the industry changed drastically, we grew almost 10x overnight. This increased our costs beyond belief, yet we worked hard to maintain our original outlook on charging. It’s come time to be realistic and adapt to the market, as so many of you had to do at that time. So as of January 11th, 2019 our system will no longer be free but have a fee associated with it for 30 days - a monthly subscription if you will. Here’s the reasons we decided to go down this path: 1: Without the fee, providers tend to put less effort into maintenance of their profile and schedule. This caused us to have to do a lot of that maintenance and we feel the fee will promote more effort and thus lead to better quality profiles on the site. 2: Without the fee, fake profiles and junk in general run rampant and take tons of our time to again maintain a clean and useful site. I can’t tell you how many times I removed a profile and blocked an email only to have that same profile added 10 minutes later - because all it took for them was a different email. The fee should keep these time wasters away. 3: Overall quality and professionalism is expected to be higher which in turn makes VIPFavours a more useful and desirable search tool for clientele. With less junk(for lack of a better word) the site should become easier to navigate and find their desired companion. On top of that they should generally be of higher quality, which increases appeal to use the site again. 4: With all of these points this should mean more opportunities and clients for the discerning and reputable provider which in turn makes up for the change in expense. As for our clientele that use VIPFavours, this change should make VIP easier to maintain as a cleaner more reliable source of Incredible Verified Providers. To all providers reading this, we’ll be sending out an email in the next few days covering all the changes going on and what’s to come in 2019. In a further effort to clean up the site we’ve wiped all “Recurring” schedules, so please make sure to update your profile immediately if you were using the Recurring system. Regards, Cameron

But not too early on, because they don't want it to look like a priority. And not too close to an election, because you wouldn't want to make it an election issue. I'm not convinced it's something they want to spend political capital on...

If we lived in a perfect world, which included the world of hobbyists and SP's, there would not be a need for assurances that it's safe for both. So we navigate the perils with whatever tools are available which include LYLA, image search etc. But quite frankly, without the help of reco's and SP's such as Katie or Megan and a few others who participate here, it is pretty much a stumble in the dark - with most posts consisting of “Anybody see her?” And the only replies being “I'm interested too”. Then the tread dies. I feel reassured when I see SP's advertising on this forum, but just a fraction do as compared to Leolist. Now I appreciate the fact that not all SP's want a recommendation written for them for whatever reason, and not every hobbyist is up to providing one. In addition, one man's treasure can be another man's turn-off. Wouldn't it at least be nice if we knew that all the SP's on Leolist were real and not some scam? Hobbyists get screened by some SP's by asking for references from another provider. And more power to them. Hobbyists don't know each other - with the exception of the anonymity of this board. And the only option available is info that is gleaned here. So in a perfect world, wouldn't it be nice if there was a section on Lyla called “Verified”. Not good. Nor bad. Just verified as a legitimate SP. Any thoughts?

In addition to using Tineye and Google image searches to identify fakes, I screen providers by paying attention to the forums here and frequently reviewing LL (and BP previously) for my area. I take my time and try not to be distracted by the latest ad with the snazzy pics and start from a place of being skeptical and assuming an ad is fake until proven otherwise. By doing this I have learned which providers this community has had positive experiences with and am able to match that up with ads on LL. I have found that after some time I've been able to develop a sense of which ads are probably fake and which ones probably aren't. Then I can use the information gleaned from Lyla to make a decision to reach out to a particular lady. I have no risk tolerance for any breach (or potential breach) of my privacy so I rely heavily on the recommendation section to be sure that the provider is at least legit. I believe that staying safe in this lifestyle requires some time commitment to stay up to date on the local providers. I think it could be quite risky to simply look at LL after an interval of a few weeks and try to determine which ads are legit and which are scams/fake pics, etc. It took some time to develop a level of comfort but with a regular review of the relevant sites I've been able to stay safe thus far. It's my understanding that the site originated as lyla.com back in the late 90's. This predates me here but I remember reading this at some point. It was already cerb.ca when I started here almost a decade ago. The new laws in 2014 made it risky to have a .ca site of this nature. Since they already owned the lyla.com domain, they switched back. (Simple 4 letter ".com" domain names that are spelled as they sound are hard to come by these days.) Again, just telling it as I remember it being explained when they made the switch back to lyla.com. Someone correct me if I am wrong on the details. 🙂 It would be interesting to hear if anyone has a more detailed history.

Hey Sussex, My suggestion would be to post on here about looking for an SP willing to do home visits and of the SP's that provide a reply I would look for their recommendations and reviews. If you can find a well known and respected provider I'm sure you can find someone suitable for you. Now normally we don't allow posts "Looking for someone" only asking for advice etc, but as your circumstance is a little outside the norm I'm happy to allow it if it will help you moving forward.

I don't think they are trying to sweep it under the rug. It is an issue that is sensitive to the electorate, and for political reasons can only be addressed early in a mandate, so if it get addressed it's only if he's elected to a new majority term, which I think is quite possible.

I usually set up outcalls (to my home). My neighbourhood is a clean and quiet one. I personally prefer that if it is an option. I never have had a problem yet. I always make sure to make the SP feel comfortable and safe. I have visited an SP in a less desirable area of the city and I felt somewhat uncomfortable. I guess everyone has a different preference. I feel safer being at my own home since I can control the situation if something goes badly. There was even a time where an SP hung out a bit afterwards and watched Netflix (I think it was an episode of Breaking Bad). Ultimately, if you treat these ladies with respect and understand that they are doing a job and are actually people then it can make the experience a much more enjoyable one for both of you.
