I hate to say it Notch, but lowballers and time wasters are not just prevalent on LL. The new reality of this business is we have to accept that 80% of enquiries will never result in bookings or good clients. We may not like it, but that's the way it is. My motto is if You don't agree with my booking protocol, then there's nothing more to talk about. Period.

I was not judging you. I know how hard it is to navigate enquiries on a daily basis, trying to ascertain the good guys from the timewasters. I actually work part time as a booker for another provider and I find it easier to deal with the time wasters etc. when they aren't for me but it still takes a mental toll on us and of course it's natural to want to go to that place where we really want to give it to them. In the end though, there is only so much educating we can do while maintaining our dignity and not using up valuable time. I hate to say it, but in the past 10 years due to the Internet and anyone and everyone posting as providers and would be clients, we have to trudge deeper in the trenches to weed out the good ones. I only work part time these days and I am blessed that being older I am actually spared a lot of the coercion that new and younger providers face. My friend who pays me to book for her says it's worth it to her in mental energy and stress saved booking her own calls. I am fortunate that I have been around since the 90s and have seen the progression and changes in the industry and as much as I may not like how some things are, we have to adjust to the way things are while maintaining our boundaries. For example, text apps may suck, but it's pretty hard to ask clients not to contact us using them when many providers use them themselves.

As a rule, no decorations lit before October 12 (the day after Remembrance Day). Some outside decorations (e.g. needing climbing on roofs) may go up as soon as weather allows to avoid ice, frozen fingers etc.

People have migrated from here and the red board to social medias be it twitter (especially twitter), instagram, snapchat and hell even tiktok. I started when Craiglist still had the erotic section, I saw the rise and fall of backpage and we just adapted. Reccomendations and reviews boards arent what they use to be, I however really salute @lydiahardwood whos trying so hard to make it revive and Im trying to contribute the way I use to, but its just ever evolving. The Ottawa scene isnt quiet at all, is there maybe now a bit more 25+ than 20 years old SW? sure, but unless you are looking for a really young provider, there is plenty of touring providers and local. Some clients are just incredibly jaded because references and deposits are becoming more and more the norm due to the fact that Ottawa has a LOT of no show and cancellations. There is even a discord group of clients that goes all of their ways to fake book providers (mostly touring), cause from my understanding they like their MA who does extra to them and want to keep all the money. Dont ask me the logics but thats what Ive been told more than once

Granted, you drink lots of coffee, cups after cups and have to pee every 10 minutes and sometime don't have anybody to talk to because they are tired and sleeping. You need so much coffee that Amazon as got you on there list of favorite customer for buying their coffee and offer you free delivery for as long as your wish is granted for. I wish I could meet the famous Lydia Hardwood in person and we could talk and drink coffee for hours, or until I have to go to sleep while she is awake and bored out of her mind.
