Hi chayenne, many words exist that mean the same thing and are left to a persons interpretation. It's how the words are used in context and the derogatory slang words that make them bad words or offensive. In Canada prostitution is legal but in some cities being a "Escort" (by definition of the cities by-law) requires a license. If you do not offer sexual services for money and you are "Escorting" people to social events and such then you should get a license from the city as you would fall under the cities "Escort" by-law. The license does not give you permission to have sex with customers (in fact some municipal by-laws for "escorts" prohibit such actions). Paying for a license that does not permit you to do your job would be foolish... and it would be like getting a taxi license to be a prostitute (it just would not make sense) so review the by-law and if it says it is for "prostitution" and you sell sex for money then you need a license (and that would make the city your pimp as they would be living off the avails of your prostitution work and that as we all know if illegal in Canada). If it says "You can not exchange sex for money" or something simular then it would not apply to you if you sell sex for money as you are a prostitute and do not fall under the cities by-law license for escort or companion. If you offer sexual services in exchange for money in Canada then you then you are a prostitute (Don't be ashamed of that word! It is not a bad word! This is only a bad word when used in a derogatory way by someone who is too close minded or has some moral objection to sex workers. Since prostitution is legal in Canada calling yourself a prostitute and following the canadian criminal code laws on how to be a prostitute in Canada legally would help you (if you sell sexual services) but... If you call yourself a "escort" or "Companion" and back that up with the claim that you do not offer any sexual services then you do need a license and these boards are not for you. Keep in mind that the license you are paying for is to police you to make sure you do not have sex with customers so make sure you are a real escort by your cities definition! If you sell sexual services and you are making these claims thinking that you are avoiding some law (Like you see on TV or in the USA and other countries where prostitution is illegal) then you will probably be forced to pay for a license to be a escort and you will be agreeing in most cases not to have sex with your customers so you would be breaking the by-law if you have sex with any customers. It's not the words that are really offensive it's the way they are used. Words like hooker, prostitute, harlot, courtesan, stripper, etc... are only words and should not offend you if you are a sex worker. I think most of the ladies however take offense to whore and Hoe as they really only have a demeaning context. Educate people and be proud of what you do and be proud to live in Canada where we are educated enough to know prostitution is a very much needed service and it is not up to others to decide if it is right or wrong. Unfortunately so many people are morally opposed to the idea and brought up to think sex is so wrong and selling sex is such a sin.

We just got a new advertiser today (Banner up top) and this was the first time I had heard about these guys so of course I had to check it out. I am aware of second life and other 3D virtual worlds but I was intrigued by this adults only one. I signed up for a free account and I was rather impressed with the graphics and function of the system and how you can modify your character to look the way you want (Not like the old avatar stuff on sites like thepalacechat and others). It is primarily a chat board with a 3D interface... it even has profiles (MySpace type of profiles - and some of the profiles are filled with a lot of personal dirty photos) Now cybersex isn't my thing but from the website it has virtual escorts and private rooms where people can get naked (and apparently do the dirty) and it does seam to bring a new side to the virtual cybersex thing. They appear to have paid virtual sex workers that you can virtually hire. You can walk around in the virtual world, go to porn stores, strip clubs (where you can dance with other members - seamed to have a lot of girls dancing with each other)... and of course you can chat and explore the world. I played with it for a few hours to be honest as if it catches on it may be something we would consider advertising in as well as it is a very interesting concept. It does have some quarks (some person was bouncing over buildings so they either hacked it or made some mod or something) and it does have a charge to go into the private rooms or pay a virtual escort (No I didn't try it... maybe someone who has can post here)... anyway I just thought I would share and some of you may be as impressed as I was with this virtual sex world. You should review the law here in Canada if this is a concern. Prostitution in Canada is actually legal but things like public solicitation (Street walkers and discussing sex in public) and common bawdy house (In call location used regularly for the purpose of prostitution) are illegal. Other things such as underage, pimping (legally known as living off the avails and procuring). If you pay for the hotel room and nothing is discussed in public (it's ok behind closed doors such as your hotel room) then from my understanding (and the majority consensus here) you are not breaking the law. If you choose to use a incall location (especially a high traffic one with multiple ladies working - as these are often run by a agency or pimp) you could find yourself in the middle of a bust and get caught as a patron of a bawdy house. In over 10 years I could count on my hands the number of people who said they were charged for this as a patron and most of those people were in fs stripclubs and fs massage spas. Everyone wants the ladies to be safe and a clean drug free incall location that is being used by one or two ladies (low traffic) should not be a high priority for the law. I am not saying you should break the law or anything - I am telling you it is still illegal and you should be aware of that. Chances are he just likes sports (or porn) ... I am getting concerned as well as they ran into some problems and told me it should all be fixed in 15 to 20 minutes (that was around noon time). It looks so bad when a website is offline or having problems like this for such a long period of time as people assume the worst. You should hear some of the phone calls we have got.
