  1. You guys do need to give the newbie's a chance. They do often read like an ad. Everyone by now knows that a first post recommendation is a little untrustworthy but give it a few days and if she is really deserving of the recommendation others will comment.
  2. Well said! Wishful thinking and it would be nice... probably won't happen in my lifetime. ;) Most of the ladies see the business as very competitive, many of the women feel that society is against them so (metaphorically speaking) they have a "thick solid wall" in place for defense and are often very quick to retaliate or attack when taking a defensive position. It's really the nature of the business unfortunately. We run cerb in hopes that a community will continually form and enlighten the public (Just a little makes it all worth it) ... make them see that the ladies are people just like them and that many of the guys who enjoy the company of the ladies are nice guys too. The public reads the nasty stories in the papers, on tv and movies, etc... and form stereotypes and negative opinions. The internet is now finally showing the "other side of the coin" .. but the internet is still a baby and it will take much more time to change the stereotypes and damage the media and hundreds of years of arrogance have created. It will come... but it will take time and lots of people like us!
  3. You almost have it right. -First municipal by-law revenue does not go to the province. It goes to the actual City. -Second... if you do not market yourself with the word "Escort" or "Massage" you do not fit into the definition in the by-law. -Third.... If you purchase a license it forces you to follow all these stupid rules and costs a small fortune. The reason for this is NOT a cash cow! It's to detour the ladies from buying it in the first place. They DO NOT WANT YOUR MONEY - THEY WANT YOU OUT OF THE CITY! If you think they do this for the money ... they don't! If you buy the license it gives the city a running capital to police the by-law with paid by-law officers (That is where the license fee's go... to pay the by-law officers to harass the license holders when they break the ridiculous by-law and to scare the non-license holders into leaving town or paying the license) They want you to work for an agency as that pushes you into a "Living off the Avails" area of the real criminal law. This way if they find you having sex you are not only breaking the by-law you are working for a agency so someone is living off the avails so a corporation would take a charge and anyone affiliated could. You need a non-profit company (A peer support foundation for sex workers). You define that the non-profit company is a peer support foundation for sex workers. When you openly admit you are a prostitute (sex worker, callgirl, service provider, etc..) then you do not fit into the definition of "Escort" defined by the by-law. Therefore you do not need a license and you do not have to follow the silly by-law. The city will not change the by-law to pertain to sex workers (that would make the city the pimp if they openly admit you are having sex and they are making money off you having sex). If just a few of you get together you could do a lot of good for each other. You could benefit from the things the agencies benefit from (Group advertising, security as you could set up a system where you let someone know when you are doing a call, etc.) The last thing the city wants is for you ladies to get organized and stand up for your rights! You do have rights but your being bullied... the problem is... if you group together it would probably get worse before it gets better. They would try every trick in the book so it would not hurt to quietly get enough of you together and put aside some money for a lawyer who can work with you.
  4. Wow, I would have just deleted that.... but the members here are now jumping in along with the ladies and sticking up for each other!! Nice JoB! If someone calls my business line 23 times I just block the number! (Same with Email and PM's) - If your going to be annoying I don't have time for you! Who does! Sorry to say I am on the girls side with this one. When they go on vacation it's with money they earned (not yours) they work for it just like you work for it to pay them! Remember that!! That comment was rude and gives everyone here an insight as to how you would treat the ladies... I hope they all read this and make a note not to book with you.
  5. Keep in mind that a lot of these directories steal the girls ads and put them up without permission to make them look like they have lots of ads. I don't even know what canpages is... they come and go so quick who can keep track?
  6. I have no idea if they will drop it but it's worth a try. The good thing about by-law infractions is that if you fight it you actually get to go in front of a real judge. People are afraid of judges but they know the law and they know your rights and a good judge will not allow moral issues to influence his/her decision. You should bring a copy of the municipal by-law with highlighted parts that pertain to this case. (Especially the part where they define a "escort")... you would say "I do not fit into your definition of a "Escort" as I am a sex worker. It is legal in Canada to exchange sex for money and if you force me to pay a license fee to be a licensed escort your by-law stops me from doing my job legally so I will not agree to pay for a license. If I need a license in your city to be a sex worker aka "Service provider" then I would gladly pay that license fee." If they say you advertise on a escort site and point out escorts-canada.com you can bring print outs of the site with pages that people describe sex acts that are available, ads for sites like sexsearch (Adult dating site) ads like "Red Confidence" (how to pick up women website) etc... and say "These companies and people are also advertising on escorts-canada... does this make them escorts? Your definition for the word "Escort" is incorrect as many people associate this term with prostitution and you definition clearly states that it is not a person who sells sexual services and that is what I am. If you are saying I am a escort by your definition because I advertise on this website then everyone on this website must be an "Escort" and you can clearly see that is not the case." Bottom line is... until they change the definition of "Escort" to include sexual acts then you do not fit the definition.... they will NOT change it because if they did they woudl force you to pay a license fee to have SEX for MONEY then they would be living off the AVAILS and be PIMPS ... This would be breaking the law under the criminal code of Canada's section 212 entitled "Living off the Avails of prostitution"! The city lawyers would never allow the city to do this! ....they are being bullies, preying on your lack of knowledge of the law, using scare tactics to make you pay them so they can police you further... and in Canada prostitution is legal (if you follow the law) so they are infringing on your rights! Register your business, pay your taxes and follow the law and you can have a legal prosperous business.
  7. Do you actually read the threads or just respond blind? God - waste everyone's time. Read the thread... she got lured into going outside of the private hotel room down into the public lounge. Public solicitation is illegal (I will dumb it down for you here - discussing sex acts in public is illegal and she was tricked into talking about sex for money in the hotel bad). Since we do not have any entrapment laws in Canada this is legal but I would hope any Judge would throw this out as the initial arrangment was made in private and he conned her into doing this. We know you can read so click the link I sent you and read the law yourself. If it's over your head google it and you will find some websites that dumb it down for you . Here is a big court case right now from Valerie Scott. Here is a quote "The act of prostitution itself is legal in Canada, yet the provisions challenged in this application operate to deny sex workers safe legal options for the conducting of legal business," the statement reads. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/03/21/sexworkers-challenge.html ... read the law, educate yourself and then come back and have a intelligent discussion with me about this but until you can back up a bold statement like that so you can be sure you don't give someone bad information (Like you did) these ladies deserve better!
  8. This sounds like a BI-LAW ticket and not a criminal charge. They can probably ticket you for breaking the "Escort" by-law if you show nudity but you would need to hold a "Escort" license. If they charged you with public solicitation then that alone proves you are not an escort. If you hold a municipal escort license then they can TICKET you under the provisions of that by-law. Read the by-law and I am sure you will find that nude advertising is not permitted if you are an escort.
  9. ladyluck, I didn't mean to edit your post. I think I hit the wrong button and my reply to you showed up as editing your post. So If I deleted something by accident it was not intentional
  10. Not if it's a public solicitation charge. If you discussed sex in public to a police officer then you are guilty of public solicitation. If you said "We can discuss this privately in your room" and not said anything in public then you would have escaped the charge. I am not aware of any such law. Now the municipal by-law for "Escorts" probably has information about not advertising with nudity and if you do then you could loose your escort license or be fined a bi-law infraction for this if you are a municipal license holder. If you tell them you are not a escort but a service provider (or better yet a prostitute) then the license does not apply to you and since EC has ads for Massage, male escorts, dating sites, etc... and not just advertising for escorts then they can not say you are a escort. You can advertise your business anywhere you see fit (that will allow you to advertise) if you wanted to sell a car on escorts-canada they would sell you advertising for this and that would NOT make you an escort. If they tell you this they are just BS'ing you and bulling you around! SexSearch is one of our major advertisers, since they advertise on escorts-canada does that make them a escort? NO! Those accusations are just unreal and would not hold up in court! But I am sure they know this and are playing off the fact the no service provider will take them to court... they will just bow down and take it.
  11. Too bad Canada does not have any ENTRAPMENT laws!! This is sneaky as he brought you into a PUBLIC place and tricked you into talking about sex in public so you can be charged with public solicitation! How disgusting is that! They actually told you that!? Unreal! It's not illegal to post nude (especially topless) photos of yourself online and I know of no law that says you can not post nude photos on a website in order to promote your business. It would be interesting to see what a judge would say about this! I am going to make a call to our lawyer and see what he thinks of that. Good lesson to share with others. DO NOT TALK ABOUT SEX FOR MONEY IN PUBLIC - this law was created to enforce street walkers and they are abusing the law by trapping the girls like this. I think a judge would throw this out of court but the offer for a 3 day camp is probably what most of the girls would agree to in order to escape any chance of a criminal record for public solicitation.
  12. When you buy a "Escort License" from the city you agree that SEX WILL NOT be part of the service and if caught having sex with clients for exchange of money you can loose your license. (It's a ploy!) If you do not get a "Escort License" and market yourself as a "Service Provider" then you simply tell them you are not a escort you are a prostitute and out call prostitution is legal in Canada so you have no right to force be to purchase your escort license.
  13. NO... Bi-Law officers are NOT police. They can not bust the customers. If it's a in-call location the RCMP can charge you for being in a common bawdy house but that is very rare as it required public complaints and a fluke chance you are in the location at the time of the bust.
  14. Chances are if her ad is off line at EC she may not be available... the sites that ask for sign up fee's often steal the ads and don't remove them as they draw people into buying memberships.
  15. Most likely this was the Winnipeg BI-LAW officers! NOT POLICE - Winnipeg is pushing the licenses to scare the girls out of town and the bi-law officers are acting like police and using scare tactics on the ladies. They prey off the fact that the girls don't usually know any better because they do not know they have rights. It's very sad and disturbing. They will probably get bi-law tickets (Like parking tickets - no criminal record and no jail or anything) but the bi-law will probably threaten them and tell them that if they don't get a license they will get the police involved... since prostitution is legal in Canada in a outcall situation the police will not get involved unless drugs, pimps or underage escorts are involved. We just need to educate the community (Hobbiests and escorts) so that they know what the laws are and the girls need to know they have rights!!
  16. Outcall Prostitution is legal in Canada HotAC (Section 212 of the criminal code of Canada). Before making a statement like that you should do some research! Here is the link PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK! - http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/C-46/section-212.html Illegal -In calls (Common bawdy house) -Pimping (Living off the Avails of prostitution - not the girl she can live off the avails this is to remove the pimp element) -Public Solicitation (Procuring - Discussing sex for money in public - it's legal in private here in Canada) -Under age (18 years) Legal -Sex for money -Private discussion of the exchange of sex for money -outcalls What you should know about "Licensed Escorts" -A license for an escort usually means they agree that no sex is to be exchanged for money. This is a license to "Escort" only as the municipalities do not want to be pimps. This gives the municipalities a way to pass out bi-law infractions to people who advertise as an escort in the municipality and do not have a license. It does NOT make it legal to exchange sex for money - in fact the license the girl signs is giving the municipality a way to police her (well.. not real police - bi-law officers who often power trip on the girls). Licensing is WRONG and they use it as a way to remove escorts from the city... they make the license's really high priced and act like police to try to scare the ladies. It's disgusting!!
  17. Thank you for the reply, I do hope to hear more feedback as I like your response to my post - especially in regards to the SHIFT name and the reassurance of no hidden agenda. You have a uphill battle to gain trust in the community but the program outline looks promising and your posts sound sincere.
  18. I removed the photos for you. GUYS: Please DO NOT post photos of the ladies, phone numbers or email address's here. You can post links to the ads if they are on the allowed list (C.L. is not and neither is O&N)
  19. This shift program was originally called "Stepping out" correct? It was a outreach program for people who wanted to get out of the business and needed help doing so. Why it was "Awarded" to AIDSCalgary is a concern!? It's almost like your trying to pass off AIDS as a fear for people to want to leave the business and we all know that if the ladies and hobbiests use proper protection they are at a low risk of passing or contracting the disease. This is not a attack against the program (I want to make that clear as I am all for a peer program that helps people in need and I personally work with outreach programs and volunteer my services for such things as aidswalk and other community programs) I just want to make sure our site here is not being misused for propaganda or anything that has a hidden agenda. What exactly does SHIFT stand for? I know a SHIFT program exists in Vancouver for "Sexual Health in Family Treatment" for families with sexual behavior problems so I find it odd that the AIDSCalgary would adopt this title. I hope this agency is legit and would like to hear from someone who has some insight on what this program is all about first hand. At this time I have heard nothing positive or negative about this organization. I was contacted by one SP privately who said that the shift program was going to pay her 30.00 to attend a 1.5 hour meeting plus pay for a bus to get to the meeting but it was 6 hours away on bus so she never went to the meeting. I would love to hear (in private or public) from anyone who has gone to a meeting and can give us some insight.
  20. It's a big problem with the Asian escorts. The poor legit ladies (and agencies) who have asian women and advertise them honestly are taking the blunt for this as well. Some of the directories are just littered with bait and switch ads cause the companies who do this will pay big bucks to advertise the B&S ads. Escorts-Canada refuses to run the ads for the known B&S sites (Probably a few thousand dollars a month in revenue turned down due to this)... even though they still manage to slip a few in once in a while so always be cautious when booking in this market.
  21. I thought that may be the case so I am glad I stepped in. Welcome to the Board Jessica! The business is not cut-throat but some people in the business like to cause drama and make it appear that way. Advertise yourself accurately, conduct business professionally, offer good service and you will have a good business with little worry about cut-throat issues. Again welcome to the board and feel free to make announcements and post your availability and information in the Ottawa schedules and announcements section of this site. It's free to use and we encourage the ladies to use the site and contribute to the community. (I try very hard to keep the bad apples off the site and keep it a SP FRIENDLY board)
  22. Hi Saluki, is this the girl you were referring to (Just to clarify) http://www.escorts-canada.com/cgi-bin/ad?id=7253 If it is notice the top right of the ad under the phone number is says "Pink Kitty Escorts" this means this is a Agency listing the Pink Kitty put up for Jenna and not a independent listing.
  23. Does anyone other then me wonder why the aidscalgary.org site is doing this? Sex workers who work online generally practice safe sex. You probably have more chance of contracting HIV from a random girl you pick up at a bar and have unsafe sex with then a professional sex worker. I agree a peer component is important (especially for street level sex professionals as many are controlled by pimps and a peer support system would be helpful) but most of the agencies and girls online are not mixed up in that same world... and those who are you can usually tell within the first minute when talking to them on the phone.... and chances are those girls are not reading boards like this?! I am on the fence with this post and would like to hear the ladies thoughts on this (and the guys). I would also like to hear from Roseline as to why they are targeting online escorts and why aidscalgary is involved. Surely you have done some preliminary case studies and found that women in the sex profession who use protection and are not using injection drugs are at a lower risk to contract hiv/aids. Also street level prostitution and "escorting" are very different area's of the sex trade industry (You might as well group massage spa's and stripclubs into this as well if your going to group the sex trade industry as being one in the same). I am sure that street level prostitution is in great need of a peer program as you describe however escorts who work in in-call locations (and especially ones who contribute on these boards) are not being pimped and are working in the sex trade under their own free will. When it comes to STD's online escorts are much lower risk then street level prostitution as they take better care of themselves and are adamant about using protection in most cases.
  24. We had a age verification scam thread in Ottawa a few months back from some bad people of craigs-list so be careful.
