If you formatted and got a virus when installing windows then you either (1) have a illegal copy of windows that is compromised or (2) you have more then one partition on your drive or (3) you have a boot block virus but it's been years since I have heard of anyone getting one of those! Removing the network card would only disable to virus from connecting and downloading additional source code or sending info. I suspect you had a bad network card that was just causing windows to crap out when you installed it (before you got the real drivers installed for it) Virus's are only cleaned and "Vaulted" if they are caught BEFORE they get a chance to run. Once they run (these days at least) they randomly create files and alter system files infecting everything. It's really impossible to clean it all out. STEPS YOU MUST TAKE: Backup your data (NO Executable files or system files), Completely Format all drives and partitions in the computer, reinstall windows, reinstall all drivers, reinstall antivirus, update antivirus, reconnect your computer to the internet, reinstall your programs (Warez/illegal programs are FULL of nasty stuff so stay away from them). Then you know it's gone. If you don't want to do anything past backing up your files you can pay a computer store to do this for about 75-150 dollars usually.

Basically once the virus/trojan (Etc) is in your system your screwed. Antivirus can not be a after thought. You need to back up all your photos and format the computer then reinstall your OS. It's the only 100% sure way to move forward. First thing you install after all your drivers is your anivirus. Make sure it is up to day and then install programs.

I have worked with Paul at ADG (http://www.adultdesigngroup.ca/) he does amazing work and has done a number of the ladies sites but the recommendations you have are good ones too! (Designers can only do so much at once so sometimes you not only need to shop around to find the right designer but you have to find one who has time to take a new client - Mix that with finding someone reliable and it's not an easy task)

Sarcasticsid gave you the EXACT correct next step. If you have a brand name computer this step is MUCH easier. (Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM, ACER, etc..) your system will have a Model number on it (Just go to that companies website and they will have a driver download area) If you have a homebuilt/non-brand name PC then it's a little more difficult. You do need to open up the computer and look on the main motherboard for the model and make. They are all written somewhere and they pretty much all look similar to this. Then once you have this simply go to google (if you don't know the website address of the MB manufacturer already and type "abit an9 32x" (Replace with your make and model) and you should find links to your drivers.

No, the living off the avails must be direct. That is like saying the guy at the convenience store who takes money for a pop from a prostitute is living off the avails same with the newspaper that allows her to advertise or the website hosting company who owns the servers where her website is... It does not mean they are living off the avails. As WIT mentioned the landlord law is already a law. If they can prove that the landlord was aware of this activity and allowed it to continue he could loose the building. A landlord is who is made aware of such things going on in his/her building and chooses not to evict the person could be charged under that law. My understanding is however that she would need to be charged, the landlord would need to be made aware of this and then if the landlord did not evict her (instead allowed her to continue) they could then charge the landlord. What this really goes after however is if the lady (or the pimp) happens to own the property they could then cease it.

He just does not like the info he received. Step 5 is kick it! PC's like to be kicked. You know... I am the first person to tell someone to try linux or mac but if you could all see my desk and the computer I use the most you would all call me a hypocrite. My office has a PC laptop, A quad core PC with two monitors (My main computer) that runs linux and windows7 (but I admit I am in windows7 most of the time for Photoshop as it does not run well in wine running linux) I recently bought a 27inch imac with a quad core that I am SLOWLY moving my work to... (So far I use it for warcraft as I don't have a licensed copy of photoshop for it yet but man does it play warcraft well) it's running parallels with windows7 in coherence mode so I may just keep my photoshop license as a PC license and migrate it over to the new MAC. Just for interest sake ... .on the floor unplugged is a MAC PRO G5 Dual, a MAC G4 Cube along and two Linux based Raq servers too! LOL... It's like a computer nightmare here! What I am trying to say is... most people need windows for something and as much as society likes the idea of being windows free... for many it's not really a reality. Mac's cost WAY more and most of us with a MAC are either dual booting it now with windows or using some sort of virtal/vm ware to run windows like I am running. but.. if you are not trapped in the windows world and can afford a mac it is by far a HUGE improvement. My quad core Duo HP system running Windows7 64bit with 8 gigs of ram is fast... but... the windows I have running in a virtual box on the imac quad (that only has 4 gigs of ram at this time) is FASTER then the stand alone one on the PC too!! Seriously!!! Mac's rule.

Check the "device manager" and make sure nothing is expanded. You should see a list of all the hardware categorized but none of the TREE'S should be open. If the tree is open the device that is not functioning right will be displayed. It should look like this. and not this...

Hosting your site overseas causes some very SLOW response times usually. It's getting better but still not great.

Yeah, all server admins run logs (Some limit them to the very basics to save resources) but my fellow techie etasman2000 is absolutely right... no server admin would disable logs as it's the only way to see who is hacking at your server and doing bad things.

I wouldn't worry about it. Many of our servers are all in the USA as well and no one has every asked to see our logs off the servers. The bandwidth suppliers are much larger so you get better redundancy and much less costs for the bandwidth. Also anyone trying to track you down by host IP would need to go out of country in order to trace back to you, they would need to subpena the host company in order for those records to be released. I doubt very much that any host would just hand over server logs without a court order. Network traffic technically could be monitored by "big Brother" from the telecom hubs but the size of the computer system needed to track even a small fragment of the overall traffic would cost billions and since most computer techs don't like the idea of that... if something was ever implemented like this in the USA it would be all over the news and internet way before the switch was flipped on. Server logs are ONLY seen by the ROOT ADMINISTRATOR of the server. Switches and Hubs don't keep ongoing logs of IP traffic and most server logs are purged weekly/daily after the server log reports are created as they take up a lot of room.

The system does not give me the choice as to WHERE the it censors the words. It's ALL or NOTHING when it comes to censored words. We use them to remove bad websites. Other advertising sites and sites where the ladies have refused to place a link back to cerb. Cerb is free and if they are using cerb to advertise the least they can do is return the link... if not they will not reap any of the benefits of advertising that site on cerb. Sorry the system censors your PM's... I actually find it annoying too to be honest but I am not (at this time) able to censor the public forms and the PM's separately (It's just not part of the settings in the system that runs this site)

REP of 500 = User has over 500 reputation points!! REP of 1000 = User has over 1000 reputation points (Elite Member) REP of 10000 = User has reached God Status Everyone starts with 10 points. All you need is 1 point to change it from "User New member or has not proven trustworthy yet" to "User is gaining reputation" The REASON I put the "Member has not proven trustworthy yet" was because of SHILL posts and SHILL recommendations. If the member has no valued post history then a recommendation or positive comment from this person you should take extra caution in believing it to be true. Someone who has a high reputation level and becomes creditable among the community is MORE likely not going to post a SHILL... sure it happens but it is a LOT less likely as it take time and effort to raise the rep level and to chance it all (and chance loosing your community status by having your account banned) makes the poster with high reputation levels more creditable. It also says this person helps the community (and that is the most important part of the reputation in my eyes). I tried to come up with titles for each level that WOULD NOT be offensive. Apparently I failed in some peoples eyes. How do you politely say "Hey, this guy is new and has not contributed anything substantial to the site yet so this post could be a SHILL watch out" Maybe it should say "This member has not earned any reputation yet from the community" would that be better??
