It wasn't a flash issue it was a constant connection to the DB hitting it 1000's of times per second (It was a badly written Mod - that we tried - it was a free mod that someone wrote and made available - not written by me) and it worked fine on slow traffic forums... it just works horrible on busy ones like this. You can poll as much as you want but until either (1) a new solution becomes available to replace it that does not tax the server (or database) or (2) we sell enough banners to generate some more money in the budget for stuff like custom written modifications such as this one... not much I can do. They never fixed the shoutbox problems in the original free script unfortunately as it was build in a way that it required all those database connections. It was making pages on cerb load 10 times LONGER and was not worth the trade off in performance on the site. Any VB experts out here in our members... if you have a solution let me know!! I would love to put back a shout box too! Until that time my hands are tied.

Ck's User Title was wrong.. it's because he has a custom User Title as he got the cerb valued member award back when he was just a senior member and in order to add this icon to his User Title I have to tell the system his title is custom and manually change it (He still have elite status and I just fixed his title "manually" to reflect this as it was a oversight on my part). anyone else with a AWARD ICON who's user title does not match the status correctly just PM me and I will correct it.

Sorry.. no asian pee pee shakers that is a myth. I dropped the "Elite" status post count from 1000 to 500+ a while ago but it reset to 1000 the other day when we had all the crazy database issues. One of the members went to 500 and noticed his account was still not changed and mentioned this to me. I fixed it... The Elite "Crown" (See Below) Is suppose to show on all elite members with 1000+ posts... I also added a new icon for the moderated members.

These are municipal bylaw licenses (Not giving you ANY degree of legality for prostitution but they are not stupid they do know what goes on). These licenses DO NOT make it legal to run a brothel or live off the avails of prostitution. Some cities do use it as a cash grab and seam to turn a "Blind eye" to it. These licenses are just bylaw licenses saying you can use the term "escort" and advertise and do business in that city (If they catch anyone doing in call prostitution or making money off someone else doing prostitution the actual REAL police can step in and charge you under the criminal code of canada for living off the avails or common bawdy house. It;s only your sent items folder... and most places don't store these. They are more of a pain in the rump for most of us as we have to go in and manually purge them. A option exists to download them (even to a spreadsheet format or txt file) so if for any reason you want them you can download them.. No idea why you would want then but go nuts. I have said it before and will say it again... don't keep anything in the PM system that you feel is important enough that you would be lost without it. Make a copy (backup) offline of PMs that you want to keep...Same with posts. The site runs on a database and as we say last week.... when a problem hits the site we can loose data. We could loose members, posts, pm's, photos, etc... so make a backup.

New members have 100 spots... Sp's and Senior/elite members have 1000 (a lot less senior/elite/sp members) so that is not really a concern for space at this time... but not dumping your sent items folder is. If you create a new folder and mover anything you want to keep into the new folder it will not be purged from the script I just installed.

Many accounts seam to have very FULL sent item boxes so I have turned on a feature on the system that will remove all "SENT" pm's after 30 days of sitting in your sent pm folder. I think by cutting down this excess amount of storage it will help prevent future issues (and make the backups of the database substantially smaller - therefore making them less prone to not backing up completely). A lot of this is just growing pains for the site.

I think any missing at this point are probably lost... am I am sorry for that. A lot of people have lost messages and I think if I tried to restore a older backup it could cause more damage than we already have so I don't want to chance it. I think most of us can bare to loose a few pm's I am just glad we did not loose member accounts or massive posts.

You can PM info if someone asks. You don't have to post comments implying things (A lack of response is a good indication usually... if someone posts positive and you disagree... use the reputation scale on the post and disagree - if they are a low post count member it could be a shill - report it to me)

Some people see pm's titles in the inbox but can't access those PM's. I am not sure why this would happen but if you can not click on the PM chances are that PM is corrupt. You can try the following... 1) create a new PM folder ( http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/private.php?do=editfolders ) 2) Check the box next to the PM (on the right side) that is not showing and attempt to "Move to folder" (Option in drop down box) 3) Click GO. I have not attempted this yet myself as I don't have this problem but some people have reported this to me. I am just taking a stab in the dark here but this may recover the PM's. Obviously some part of the data field of the PM is damaged making it so you can see it but not click on it. If that does not work PM me and if your comfortable in giving me your password I can log in as you and view the error first hand and maybe I can get the ID of the PM and go into the database manually and see what part of the PM is corrupt.

I am making this a mandatory read as I am getting a lot of PM's from people asking if they did something wrong as some posts that were made recently and some people's PM's have vanished. I did not intentionally delete these or anything like that so please do not assume I did as I am getting angry PM's from people who think I did this intentionally. This is NOT something we on purpose. The site had a major crash yesterday (July 20th 2010) and we lost some data but were able to restore most of the data and get the site back online for everyone. We had a hard drive fail earlier in the week and to make a long story short... this messed up the database that runs cerb. I thought we had it all fixed and sorted out and back on a new drive... but it was not 100% ... turns out we did not have the problem fixed completely as the albums part of the site had another crash yesterday and we almost lost all the ladies photos. I fixed this but in turn had to restore the site using a a backup of the database from the previous night (so some posts during the day were lost and some people got noticed for PM's they had already read - everyone had to log back in and it was just a giant mess) The problem why I can not restore PM's was the backup file was not saving as a complete backup (only a partial backup as the error in the picture table was stopping the backup) so unfortunately some people have lost some PM's and Posts. I have tried my best to restore the PM's and Posts that I could salvage (all others I regret to say have been lost). Many of you store pm's on the site (I do it too and it's a bad habit but I do understand many of you don't want to store this info in other places) I am taking extra steps to ensure the backup database dumps are complete each night so we can avoid this in the future. I have also removed the photos from the database and placed them in a folder on the server (Making the database smaller so this should also help). This was not done previously as it caused a security risk but that risk is no longer an issue so hopefully this stops the same problem from happening in the future. I do apologize for the loss of the PM's and any posts that have gone astray. Ok I think I have fixed the photos but I can't restore the pm's that were destroyed or the posts from earlier today unfortunately. I am not sure why the pms went missing and I hope nothing else is missing... I am very sorry but anything that is missing is probably gone. I suspect it was the hardware error from the other day caused a chain of events that ended up coming to a head today ... Taking down the site. I restored the site from the backup but the backup was not saving correctly as a few of the tables had errors still from the crash the other day... One being the photo table and one being the posts table.... While restoring those something (still not sure what) apparently killed off some pm's but I think what killed those pm's was the incomplete backup that I tried to restore from. I tried to overlay the backup and that helped but it appears some posts and pms from earlier today and some previous stored pms have been lost. If I can find a way to restore them I sill.

That is because I have had to restore the database a number of times. I apologize for this but can not be avoided. We are STILL having issues with the photo system (So much so that we may loose it) I can't figure out what is causing this and the system is crashing and really messing up the picture DB table. Really not many options left here.

Well that didn't work. I thought I had it fixed (it was fixed for a minute) but I was wrong ... It just started to happen all over again. I managed to rebuild the photo albums it looks like that was to root of the problem. The images were being stored in the database and a few were corrupt from our crash the other day so I moved all the images into the file system and I hope that stops the errors... I hope people can upload photos however as I remember we had a different issue before when the images were stored in the file system... I need to go for dinner so I will check back in a bit to see what new problems the site is having.

I fixed it. The site tried to do a backup and the backup failed (it killed the picture tables in the database) I restored the picture tables and that seams to have fixed the problem.
