I am no expert (and don't use turntables myself) but I am pretty sure you should change the needle before you can actually physically see problems with it ;) I would think you would hear a problem way before you could see one. Logic says a worn needle would make the sound very dull (Low) as it would not be able to pick up the high frequencies properly ... also would it not track bad? (skip) I always wondered if a worn out needle would wear a record? Also do high quality needles really make a difference for regular listening? I know the DJ's who scratch and abuse the records to death use very expensive cartridges (I remember having to replace them all the time when I ran a club with 1200's in the booth - about every 3 / 4 months it would cost us a few hundred dollars for new stylus's) - the tips of the worn stylus's were often burnt looking but these dj's who scratch probably cause a lot of that burnt look. Do new needles wear records at all? I would think the needle over time would wear the records right out... but old records still seam to play and it always surprises me. I remember spending hours and hours converting records to mp3's and filtering out all the scratches and pops... now people want that sound back! :P LOL

Just so everyone knows muckpupy & moons are the same person (System flagged them today and I reviewed the posts and suspended both accounts). Your not allowed to have two accounts on cerb and as you can see in this thread and others about "Michelle's" both muckpupy & moons comment as if they do not know each other. This is considered SHILL posting as the comments are trying to increase the reputation and it's worse as you have two accounts in this case pretending to both agree with each other and not know the other person (Shame Shame!). The last two comments here from muckpupy & moons are from two different IP address's at very different times BUT the system flagged them as both accounts being logged into cerb using the same computer. This is either a guy who is trying to SHILL for them or one of them pretending to be one of the guys and slowly gain credibility over time with by reinforcing the other account. Not sure if it's the ladies or just a guy trying to foolishly help them (so don't judge the ladies too hard as I have no proof it's them or some other person) ... but someone is breaking the rules and trying to fool you all here.

I understand why people use CL (It's free and has LOADS of traffic) but it is un-moderated. This particular issue however could happen on any site (Not just CL)! It's just more likely to be done on CL. A booking tip to the ladies would be to tell the customers roughly where you are located without giving too much info (ie. "I am in the east end near XXXX") and set up the appointment without giving the exact location. If he asks why you are not giving him the exact location now just say "My incall location changes often and I will give you the exact address and confirm your phone number one hour before we meet" This ensures you verify the phone number and if this guy does cause problems like this for you - you can report him in the SP ONLY area. Now if you are collecting any type of assistance and working as a provider you do know that is wrong to do and you do know that many people in this country would be very upset if they found this out. It's not right to work and collect assistance, that money is for people who really need it. Anyone who is scamming these assistance programs should feel ashamed and should stop! I had to say that as I HATE finding out people do this. It disgusts me too! Now... Other recent CL issues. These are things happening in other cities (and could be happening in Ottawa) 1) Fake ads are popping up in some cities with the girls real contact info and photos but the ads claim lower prices and services like bbfs or other things she does not do. This causes the girls phone to ring off the hook for the lower prices and it causes her to get BAD things posted about her (Saying she is high risk and scamming people by posting one price and when you call you get a higher price). Guy's don't fall for this. Just because it's her contact info posted it does not mean she is the one who posted the ads. Her competition knows this will tie up her phone line with tonnes of calls and quickly damage her reputation. 2) Ads have been posted with all the correct contact info (Exact copies of the ads) but with FAKE PHOTOS (Easily found on tineye or obvious fakes like Tyra Banks and Carmen Electra, etc...). This causes people to post warnings of bait and switch about the ladies (again damaging their reputation on the boards) but the same ladies post ads on CL with real photos so it makes it very confusing who is posting what. 3) In some cities guys post WARNINGS of the ladies. At first I am sure these warnings were all legit (Like mini reviews) but obviously anyone can post these to "Knock out the competition". Really they are using boards like cerb and blogs like CK's against them. I am not saying this has happened here yet or on CK's blog (but I do suspect a recent post may be a result of this and I am trying to get more info on that as the lady did use real photos on all her CL posts and even was showing her face so posting fake photos now is much more unlikely - she has a recommendation here as well so it's very fishy). The scammers HATE guys like CK and this is a way to exploit what he does by using his good intentions for doing bad things without his knowledge. It's very easy to place a fake ad on CL with the exact contact info of a girl and use fake photos in that fake ad to discredit her with CK or others who do such things. Nothing in this world is free so I guess these things are just the price you pay for advertising on CL. LOL... non-moderated and free is just a open invitation to scams and cons.

I agree... logitech cams are good for the price for sure! They have HiDef cams now as well. The other popular cams are microsoft life cams. (The software for most webcams do often have conflicts with other stuff so you never know if the install of a webcam will be smooth or not). When you plugged in your USB webcam it did install a driver in the background. It obviously uses a generic driver included in windows so the system was able to identify the device and install it without the need for a install disk or download. I think this is better as the "Software" that comes with most of these webcams causes the majority of the conflicts. For example... if you install a webcam and run the software that came with it and while that software is running you try to use something like Skype or MSN Messanger chances are it will not work. You will need to CLOSE the software that came with the webcam and than go into Skype or MSN as the video input source (USB webcam) can only usually be used with ONE software platform at a time. Many people buy webcams, install the software and think they have to run the software that came with the device first in order to use MSN or SKYPE or any video capture stuff... This stumps a LOT of people!! I have fixed COUNTLESS computers for people as they tell me that skype or msn will not work with the webcam. Some tell me the audio works and not the video (That is usually a sure sign it's the software that came with the cam - the microsoft life cam software and the older logitech cams are famous for this issue). Not sure about the newest stuff but most people buy the cheap 35 or less dollar cams and these seam to be the ones that have issues like this.

Oddly enough I was checking out a computer the other day with Vista with a memory leak issue caused by what appears to be a firefox bug. Forced firefox to close and dump the memory and the system came back to life (It was using over 1.5gigs of memory and I forced it to shut down than opened it again and it reloaded all the pages it was on... and sure enough 250K was all the memory the pages used). Now the computer was not shut down the night before and all these firefox windows were left open over night so I suspect the leak is very small but over 12+ hours it grew rather large). Outlook 2007 does the same thing on the same computer if you have over 10000 emails in the deleted items folder as well (Big memory leak at that point) ... I had no time to really look into it in great detail however. Outlook always has issues (I hate it but that is what we use - thunderbird is MUCH better and it's free) I am surprised at Firefox doing this but it could be a vista thing as well - Has anyone had anything similar with firefox in windows7... I doubt it and it could be why it was overlooked in vista. Vista's window memory manager devotes the same amount of RAM to every window you have open (even if you had them minimized). This sucks up LOADS of ram when you have multiple browser windows open (Should use tabs not windows in Vista to help prevent this) Windows7 however has a new memory manager that ONLY dedicates it for visible windows. Is why you can actually run Windows7 with 1GB of RAM - not advisable but it can be done where Vista needs a minimum of 2GB (Just because of the memory manager).

Many USB devices do not need driver disks... but most camera's come with some specific software for that particular camera. If you go to the manufactures website chances are they have some download stuff for the product. Was this a new camera or used and the person did not have a disk still?

Here is a question for you. How old is the computer? (This may explain it - older computers that ran stable with windowsXP on 1 gig of ram or less don't have the "horse power" to run vista as it is a memory hog. So... Let's see what you have going on in your computer as far as hardware is concerned. 1) Click the START icon (or press your windows key) 2) where it says "Start Search" type "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and hit enter This will tell you all sorts of good stuff... 1) What version of Vista do you have? (home basic, home premium, ultimate, etc) the home basic version is HORRIBLE and if that is listed chances are that is your problem) 2) What version "Build" (under Version does it say "Service Pack 2") if so your good in this department 3) Under SystemType x32 or x64? (32 bit or 64 bit) 4) Processor (Intel or AMD or other?) Is it 2Ghz or higher? 5) Installed Physical Memory (This is your RAM) does it say at least 2 (Ideally it works best with 4GB but 2GB would be the recommended MINIMUM if this is lower than 2 you need to add more ram and this is most likely your problem 6) Total Virtual Memory (This should be twice the size of your installed ram so if you have 2 gigs this should be 4 GB) if not you may have shut off the virtual memory (Page file system) and this would most certainly be your problem as your computer would be running out of space in your RAM and need to do an emergency DUMP of memory to make room causing stuff to crash and panic (Causing BSOD) If none of this helps you should take your computer into a professional but keep in mind that for about 500.00 you can get a pretty fast brand new system (as you don't need keyboard, mouse and monitor as you obviously have those already) Again.. make sure the computer can breath... they get VERY HOT and fill with dust very easily blocking air flow. The computer works the hardest when you boot up windows and pre-load all the crap windows likes to load before it lets you do anything you want to do... It can overheat here easily on boot if the fans are not moving enough air. FYI (In case you are interested in what explorer.exe actually is) explorer.exe is the interface between you and the windows kernal (main core) that controls the computer (the taskbar is part of it so that was a good guess). On a windows machine the "explorer.exe" is what is known as the GUI (meaning graphical user interface or some refer to it as the shell). Without it you just have a prompt > where you would just type commands (This is known as a terminal or prompt) This always needs to run.

Is the error a physical memory dump error? If so this could mean a few things. 1) You have some bad memory on your system. Use a good memory test program to scan your memory http://www.memtest86.com/ (Should have a free trial) 2) A program may be using too much memory (more than your system can spare). When this happens are you using any specific program? Do you notice the system slowing down first? If so you can CTRL+ALT+DEL and run the Task Manager and see what is using up all your memory. 3) Could be the CPU as well (Overheating) make sure your tower has lots of space to breath and blow out any dust from your fans and power supply. It if still does it re-install windows...

I actually find the complete opposite is true. I find that the MAC OS (Being based on a unix kernal - Darwin) is much less of a resource hog than windows. When you add the fact that you need a live anti virus scanner on top of the windows OS it's really a complete slug.... the only thing these days that saves windows is the fact the PC's have HUGE amounts of power. Yes, the mac has a learning curve.... but it's worth the effort!! Is it a better computer? I think so... actually I know so! Is it for everyone? No. (Accountants should stick with a PC) and people who do not like to learn new things! If change scares you... you will hate the mac for at least 3 months and slowly learn to love and appreciate it more and more. Who should consider a mac? Anyone doing large amounts of home photos (The facial recognition software is to die for), video editing, audio recording. Music lovers, artistic people... Anyone who does not already have a computer (New PC users), web programmers, graphic artists, designers, web designers, people who like to open email attachments, people who primarily use the computer to surf the web (Antivirus reasons).... (Really everyone except accountants - lol) - Anyone who likes to surf porn on the internet!!!!! (Seriously, the porn sites are the number one place to pick up viral/malware/etc.. anyone who does P2P file sharing (But you still need to be careful with MAC executable programs as they can have what is called a rootkit - it's rare but could happen and a rootkit compromises the security of a mac and someone could gain unauthorized access to your mac if this happens - rootkit checkers exist however and you run them each time you download and install something that may be high risk)

What people don't realize is the NEW intel based MAC's are really what we all know as PC's! The mac's are now built with pretty much the same stuff as the pc's - this is why you can run windows as a native OS. They are no longer powered by the MAC specific processors and chipsets. The only thing different is the bootloader sequence - and MAC is not bloated so it only had drivers for specific PC hardware. The VIDEO cards, Ram, etc... are all the same as standard PC's so drivers are not really an issue. You can install windows on a mac and it runs just like it would on a HP.. Hell if you know how to you can actually install the new MAC OS on a PC (This is often much more difficult because the MAC does not have drivers for all the bloated PC hardware).... so if you don't put the same hardware in your PC (such as a video card or a intel core2duo for instance) you will need drivers... Also... you need to use something like chameleon as your "Boot loader" to pre-load the mac boot loader stuff before the OS loads. (This is how the mac os makes sure you are running your MAC OS on a actual MAC and not a PC).

Mac MINI is 649.00 Canadian http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_mac/family/mac_mini/?cid=WWWCA-MACMINI-HEAD-BUYNOW They are INTEL based so you can either DUAL BOOT (when you power on choose windows or mac) or you can install it and run in cohesive mode allowing you to run Windows and Mac (with yes, a slight performance hit but I don't really see much of a hit personally - Photoshop runs better as a MAC application than a windows application and that is really the only thing I use that chews massive resources up) If your afraid of dual booting or afraid of new technology you should really take buggernot's advise and stick to what you know. It does take a little work to set up windows on a mac (But the end result is very good as you get the best of both worlds). When you are in Windows on a MAC it makes the MAC vulnerable to all the Windows virus's and crap... just like a PC but you can surf the web, open email, etc.. etc.. on the MAC side of the system and be worry free (No need to run a virus scanner on the MAC side so it's actually MUCH faster as virus scanners consume a lot of horse power and are the reason for many lagging windows systems! You could however just buy a PC and install linux (FREE) and do the same (Surf the web in linux and don't worry about the virus's either).... but mac is MUCH more user friendly and has much more support. I have all three OS's installed on one system! LOL... I like choices.

YEAH! I agree with this... and you know... it's not a bad idea!! For under 750.00 your stuck with a mac mini (but really they are not too bad) they have a intel 2.25gh Core2duo chip a decent video card but the hard drive is only 160gb so if you need more you have to go external.... but... you can install windows7 on the mini and even use something like Parallels (I love cohesive mode) to run both Mac and Windows on the same box (in cohesive mode they run together you just have to have a shared drive - been a while since I set that up but I think it's a fat32 shared folder that is needed but don't quote me on that). For a little bit more you can get the 2.53gz mini with the 320GB drive but speed you wont notice a huge difference so you are better off getting an external 1TB drive but upping the ram to 4GB

I only know of one person who has tried the kindle and said they do not like it ... and the reason they gave was that they like the smell of paper books.

My current preferences Intel (Not amd) I have quads and duo's (Obviously quad is better but not that noticeable for standard use) LOADS of memory if running windows. Windows7 is far improved over vista and xp (Get the "Home Premium" or better version) 64bit allows you to go higher than 4gb of ram (64bit Home premium version of windows7 lets you run up to 16GB of ram - FYI the ultimate version can bank 192GB apparently!!) I like brand names these days (and I was a big custom PC person for MANY years). I love HP, Dell and of course stuff like alienware but the dell xps and alienware stuff is very expensive. I think for brand names the HP stuff is the best bang for the buck. I stay clear of gateway, msi and even acer (The low end brand name stuff) - I have seen more broken gateway e-machines than any other PC!! 1TB is pretty much the normal drive these days. It's a insane amount of drive space for just photos (If you do video or audio recording you will appreciate the space for sure). HP at futureshop for 599.97 (Click Links) HP Quad for 799.95 the HP Canada site usually has some wicked deals too for online ordering and I have had the computer show up the next business day! That is all I got for ya.

Excellent discussion (and insight for this less discussed part of the industry). I hope everyone who visits cerb reads this thread. I find a lot of people just assume how an agency is run without actually trying to find out more info. The truth is they are all run slightly different from each other (It's not like they went to school or bought a book on how to run an agency in Canada 101). Cat said it so well with "Many men who use agencies do not treat the SP as a person". I often feel this must be the case too when I read some of the negative reviews people post (I sure delete enough negative posts off cerb to agree with her that many men must feel this way). It's not like ordering a pizza, the lady does not get made from a specific mold or is somehow trained on how to be a specific way with customers. I guess when it's less personal it's easy for some people to forget that the ladies are people with emotions, quarks, mannerisms and everything else that makes you and me all different and everyone so unique. It is also the reason why not everyone gets along but it's all personal taste and preferences. Please guys don't forget that. Plus some guys seam to think that if they have a good experience with an agency all the ladies who work with that agency must be good and praise the agency (and not the ladies)... why?? Same is true with the opposite as well... get a bad experience from a date booked by the agency and it must be a poor agency?!? (How does this make any sense?). I could see if the agency forgot your booking, bait and switched you, had a 10 complaints already about this girl and are still booking her... that would be a bad agency (and a bad business person running the agency) but think how many guys call the agency and say "Hey, I think you should know that ...... " (Probably not too many so it could be weeks or months before the agency realizes they have someone who is causing them to loose some reputation). Maybe agencies should ask when making the appointment if they can do a follow up call for some feedback (Wow, that would make a great agency in my books! I get somewhere some agency does this)... Money is also an issue with any business. If you have anyone working for your business who brings a profit to your company it's hard to let that person go (Especially in a business where you can't exactly post a help wanted ad on the human resources canada website). Despite what some guys think agencies don't have line ups of women wanting to work for them!! Please don't forget that the agency is just the middleman in the transaction and really have very little control... a properly run agency is just a Secretary/marketer (and the really good ones are all the stuff in between that Cat mentioned "counselor, confessional priest, fashion adviser, bookkeeper, trouble spotter, etc..."). Plus lets not forget that they are a level of security for the lady as well... if she does not check in after the date at least someone knows where she was last and can send someone to check on her (Driver Usually). Threads like this help everyone stop assuming things. We are all very lucky to have ladies like Cat and Riley (and many more providers) who contribute to threads like this and give us all a ladies view on topics such as this. (A look on the other side of things) and we would welcome some posts here from some agency owners. Remember the agencies do adapt like all business's adapt over time. The cell phone changed the industry a HUGE amount and than the internet came along and again all the "old ways" of doing things are very obsolete Both the cell phone and internet make it much easier for ladies to branch out and work as indies so I would agree that most agency ladies are probably fairly new to the business (with the exception of a few who just don't want to bother doing all the paperwork). P.S. Can someone please bring Cat a new keyboard with a working "s" ;) -

GFE is a "Style" of service (Not specific acts and definitely not meaning a "superior erotic service"). GFE (Girl Friend Experience) means that the meeting will not be cold and to the point (Mechanical) it is a more intimate experience and does not imply or include any specific services. Questions like this are really answered with common sense. Chemistry plays a big roll in a successful intimate experience. If the guy is a dick or the lady does not enjoy her job intimacy will most likely not be on the menu with anyone (Indie or agency). Many Agency booked ladies have been recommended over the years. The agencies job is marketing the ladies, booking the ladies, answering calls, emails, scheduling, etc... The ladies often choose to work with agencies when (1) they are new to the business and (2) when they do not wish to do all this work themselves. Without the agency the lady has to pay for her own expenses like phone bills, advertising, etc.. and has to make additional time for scheduling, answering emails, placing ads, etc... etc... (This takes up a LOT of time)... Often well worth the cost of having the agency do this work for you. Don't assume that because the lady works with an agency she is not going to give you the same service. A reputable agency will not continue to book ladies that they get negative feedback as it damages the agencies reputation and in turn other ladies will not wish to work with them as the guys will not want to call them to book the same (or other) ladies in the future. It would just be bad business to keep the ladies who the customers complain about. Don't be lazy when choosing a lady (Like cutting out 1/2 the ladies by saying agencies are not as good as indies) do your homework. Find recommendations that sound interesting to you. Look for things that you value that someone else has experienced and don't be afraid to book a lady through a agency if she comes highly recommended! Keep this in mind... Good agencies have happy ladies and lots of business - bad agencies have unhappy ladies and unhappy clients (as they do things like bait and switch and demand the ladies work ridiculous hours - and often take too much $$ and not enough calls) A highly recommended lady is not going to work for a bad agency for long but many do not wish to work for themselves so they will seek out good agencies to work with. With well run agencies... the agency works FOR the lady (Not the other way around) -
Coffee is all good if she offers this as a service but remember NEVER discuss sex or money in public (That is very much illegal). ... also in some cities (Winnipeg, Calgary, etc..) social escorting requires a license as it is not considered prostitution.

You watch too much American TV! Prostitution (The exchange for SEX for MONEY) in Canada is LEGAL. You can not solicit sex in a "PUBLIC PLACE" but the internet is not considered a "Place" so it makes advertising online for prostitution very much legal. Same with a newspaper classified ad. The newspaper can be sold in public but it is still not physically a "Public Place". What you need to watch for are brothels (Common bawdy houses) beeing advertised as Brothels are very much illegal (Strip clubs offering "extra's" or massage spa's offering "services" etc... are all considered brothels). Do a search on cerb here. We have covered this topic in great detail. Section 210-213 of the criminal code of Canada covers the legalities of prostitution in Canada.
