This info is not correct. In Canada you can not communicate for the purpose of prostitution in A PUBLIC PLACE. You can advertise in newspapers and online as those are not PUBLIC PLACES. You can NOT discuss sex in places like the street, hotel lobby, casino floor, park, beach, etc... but you can discuss sex for money in a hotel room or your own house. You can also be explicit on forums like this as the internet is NOT a public "place". LOL.. Yeah, you need to read more!! The girls say "charging for time" because they do not know the laws properly and someone has probably told them this is how you get away with something legally (and that is not true). For the most part many of the girls don't know the real laws (they often assume things - like you are doing here)... many threads exist on cerb that cover this topic. Use the search feature and educate yourself. You will be glad you did.

Welcome to the site Nicolina and for posting this clarification. I moved this to it's own thread (off your recommendation) as this type of discussion is not right for the recommendation threads.

Pigale's VIP super-short songs ripoff !
mod replied to a topic in Ottawa Discussion - Stripclubs & Dancers
Wow.. 20+ is under 3 minutes on average... $400.00 for the hour. Someone in management obviously came up with the formula and has a reason for it. Not sure how well thought out it was... is the VIP very busy these days? Maybe most guys don't notice? -
The rule is always "Don't assume anything" do you know for sure that this is her normal "hour" rate? or was this her normal 1/2 hour rate and you just assumed otherwise? I am glad you are not making a review based on this (especially here as that would not be permitted). I find that many of the negative reviews posted are due to communication problems. This is even more true these days with most guys assuming GFE means specific services are included and when they don't get what they assumed was included it's off to the boards to complain. (Usually does not justify a negative review).

I would be asking to see some ID from a few of them!

Do more research next time. When you don't do your homework you are always taking a chance... sometimes when you do your homework you still get burnt but that is a lot more RARE. Let me guess, someone you found on CL?

It's done using microsofts free gif animator. (http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-GIF-Animator/3000-18512_4-12053.html?tag=mncol) it's free and safe to download. I just made the images in photoshop saved each one as a gif and put it together with some interesting timing. I thought it was neat... was to imply that I am watching you all! (1984 LOL) I was playing with the avatar settings last night trying to increase the size of the file that is allowed to be uploaded. Guess I got carried away making my new avatar... but I like it!

Pigale's VIP super-short songs ripoff !
mod replied to a topic in Ottawa Discussion - Stripclubs & Dancers
When I managed clubs (Many years ago) we did not allow songs under 3 minutes (this ruled out much of the Beatles collection) The girls would often try to sneak the shorter songs by the DJ. The good Dj's would catch them as the CD players displayed the length of the track. The good Dj's would do a talk over with a fade on the music and while the DJ was speaking he would rewind a good minute of the song to stretch it out (Like a bad remix) or he would add another song to the set and announce it was to be counted as one song for the private dances (back than at least in the clubs I worked in) no one wanted to rip the guys off in the VIP - including the ladies. Doing stuff like this only kills the industry that much more. Seams the clubs are just digging their own grave deeper and deeper these days if they are allowing this to go on. In 99% of the clubs the ladies who are on stage choose the music and of course they want to be off the stage as quick as possible (no money to be made on the stage these days) -
I am addicted to that show. Hate to admit it. LOL... I was wondering the same thing.

Yes, most cities have a walk in clinic. The one in Winnipeg is here http://www.ninecircles.ca/ and since we have a lot of Ottawa members on the site I will post it as well... The one in Ottawa is here http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/health/living/sexual/clinic_en.html

Questions About Cerb
mod replied to A***** A*****'s topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I don't know the answer to that but I would suspect it does as you are logged into the site (meaning you are active in the system) - When you enter your username and password it flags you as online - the cell phone display is really just a skin (displays the site differently) so I don't think it would be any different. -
hate crimes against sex workers......

Not sure about that. Usually the news area is for published media articles pertaining to the industry. I think this was posted for reference and open discussion. -
Guys, I know you all want to help assist your fellow hobbiest but posting rates is not welcome. You can PM them if you wish but please do not post them publicly. The ladies are the ONLY members allowed to post rates and they are ONLY allowed to post rates in the schedules and announcements area - the guys are not permitted to post rates. We most certainly will not allow anyone to promote ladies who are undercutting other sp's. I know if you find someone offering really cheap rates you want to share it with other members but this undercuts all the ladies who work hard to promote themselves online and shows no respect to the real escorts we have here on cerb as our members. Ladies you find off dating sites are not working full time in the hobby so posting some street walker rate they are offering just helps kill the industry. The ladies here on cerb read that and get very upset. Some stop contributing to the site because of stuff like that. Sorry but that does not make a SP friendly board in any way. Also... I do not wish to moderate the social groups but the social groups are not to be used to circumvent the rules of the site. If I find posts on the social groups that break the site rules I will be upset and delete the social group. It is the responsibility of the owner of the social group to moderate his or her group. The only extra permission I have given for the social groups is that if the social group is a private group we will allow full nude photos to be posted in private in the group (as long as you have permission to post them of course).

I need to mention that this statement "The SPs on the credible sites are not only reputable but follow city health guidelines by being tested regularly." is not necessarily true. I am sure many of the ladies do get tested regularly but that has nothing to due with where they advertise. That is just foolish to think that! By avoiding CL you will avoid more bait and switch ads, avoid credit card scam ads, avoid more dangerous encounters like being robbed as the websites remove these bad advertisers when they are reported (as it damages their reputation) unlike CL where you can FLAG the post but those same people just make a new account and post another free ad. The scammers generally stay away from sites like escorts-canada as escorts-canada does not offer free photo ads in Winnipeg (It does have free text ads in Winnipeg and they can contain scams but they are also removed when reported) ... scammers don't like to pay for ads and they generally like to post fake photos to lure you in. Winnipeg in general has a horrible problem with Bait and Switch (This is even a ongoing issue with escorts-canada as Winnipeg has agencies who will verify photos for one girl and a number of ladies will work off the same ad - this is still bait and switch but escorts-canada is not able to screen these without a larger number of complaints and when they are found out they usually change phone numbers and IP address's and it starts all over again a few months later). Nothing is 100% for sure. So check with cerb.ca on any lady you are interested in, ask around and do your homework. If you are concreaned with heath risks be sure to use a condom always and be sure to get yourself tested regularly if you are having sex (especially with multiple partners - not just sp's) NO LAW EXISTS that says escorts in Canada must be tested regularly for STD/STI's so don't ASSUME anything like that! Many do get tested as no one wants to pass a std around!! It would be very bad for the ladies business so the really good sp's who depend on their reputation are usually very good about being tested regularly.

Questions About Cerb
mod replied to A***** A*****'s topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Exactly... just another challenge! The SHOUTbox was a MOD that someone else programmed. It works great on LOW traffic sites... but with the shear volume of visitors cerb gets it was causing the load level on the server to peek out. Causing pages not to load and causing database errors. It was making well over 1000 calls to the database per second causing the server to crawl... and the main server is a VERY large server. It was just coded very poorly. It looked good and was functional but the code work did not efficiently use the resources of the server (it was a resource hog) so it had to go. We have no way of telling if a MOD like this will work well on the site unless we try it out.... and this was the SECOND one we tried as the first one was just as bad. -
Questions About Cerb
mod replied to A***** A*****'s topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I have been wondering these questions: Is "cerb" located in an office? Technically cerb is a website so it's on a hard drive in a computer in cyberspace... but Yes, our company is design co. (same owners as escorts-canada.com localescort.ca and many other escort related sites) We have a physical office in Barrie Ontario (but... I often work from home - Shhh! Don't tell anyone!). I go in to the office for weekly meetings (and to cover for people when they are away like this week for instance as Dave "the site manager for localescort.ca" is on vacation this week so we are all covering his shifts). Mod, are you male? female? I am male but keep in mind I am not the only mod on cerb all the time. we do have female staff as well and we all read the threads on cerb (I know this as they are topic of conversation at the office all the time). Any of the staff can log in as the MOD (but few ever do unless I am away now). we use to share this account equally but when the site started to get really busy it was just confusing having everyone moderate at the same time. We were stepping on each others shoes. I guess I drew the short straw (Just Kidding - I actually enjoy moderating the site most of the time, most of you are friendly and I still enjoy being part of the site - I just hate the trouble makers, complainers, people who continue to break the same rules over and over and basically anyone who makes my job harder than it needs to be). When was "cerb" started? It was started back in 2001 (I think) we did not start it ... it was started by a guy names Mark (in Vancouver) and was part of the localescorts.ca website. We purchased the site from him and in 2003 and we separated the site from localescorts and cerb was born later that year. We than upgraded to the software that we use today in 2004 (after the old software was hacked badly as the original software it ran on was FREE software and not secure) Most memorable moments? With cerb? When the site started to really take off back in 2004 and we proved a escort site without all the negative reviews or circus threads with people fighting and ganging up on people would be popular! Scary Stories? We have had some really pissed off pimps recently and some very unstable people over the years (they usually feel the need to call us and threaten whoever is unfortunate enough to answer the call) - I personally only answer the phones when I am covering for someone so luckily I just hear about the crazies but I have had a few myself. I can count the people on my hands that scare me... so it's no more or no less than any other type of business. What is the traffic like on a daily basis? I have posted traffic stats in the past for cerb. It gets very good traffic. Do a search for "Traffic" and you will find some threads with details and stats. Any challenges "running" cerb? Every day! Basically you could say running a site like this is a challenge. The list of challenges is a mile long and I would not have the time to go into that one! LOL... I can say it sure is not as easy as it would look from the outside. Hackers, spammers, trouble makers, complainers, rule breakers, immature people, kids, gossip, flame wars, PM spam, moderating, site upgrades, site updates, security patches, new mods, adding features, maintaining multiple servers to run one site, budgets, etc... etc... etc...it never ends. In order to have a site that looks like everyone follows the rules take a LOT of work. Thankfully we have a lot of really great members here who help by flagging bad posts and spam PMs, offering advise and much more!- 12 replies

I removed Anita's post as she was being way too hostile and argumentative. I am not sure why but I think you may have stuck a nerve with her on this topic as she was taking it VERY personally. Unfortunately she did not like her post being removed and proceeded to turn the aggregation towards me (Needless to say Anita will no longer be with us on cerb as I have no tolerance for that silliness). I hate banning anyone from the site (especially the service providers) but if the members can not be civil and play well with others I unfortunately have to step in.

I too find this surprising but it's obvious that the risks are significantly lower.... but personally I would want to reduce the risk (with anyone I am having sexual contact with). Here is a list of known STD/STI's that can be passed by oral sex... HIV: Although oral sex is a relatively low-risk activity, particularly when compared to vaginal or anal sex, it is possible to transmit HIV through oral sex. Unless a female has significant amounts of blood in her mouth, such as from dental surgery, oral sex is unlikely to expose the receptive partner to HIV. She is however at much greater risk (especially with CIM) Herpes: Although genital herpes and oral herpes are usually caused by different strains of the herpes virus, HSV-2 and HSV-1 respectively, it is possible for either virus to infect either site. Herpes is contagious even when symptoms are not present but the risk is far less - It is however always contagious when symptoms are present. HPV: It is possible to spread HPV through oral sex. Condoms reduce the risk of infection, but they will not necessarily eliminate it entirely since HPV spreads via skin-to-skin contact. Gonorrhea: Gonorrhea can be transmitted in both directions when oral sex is performed on a man. Condoms prevent transmission during oral sex. Chlamydia: It is possible to transmit chlamydia when performing oral sex on a man and both the recipient and the person performing the act are at risk. Syphilis: is extremely easy to transmit via oral sex. Responsible for as many as 15% of syphilis cases. syphilis can only be transmitted in the presence of symptoms during the primary and secondary stages of the disease however the painless sores are easy to miss. Question should be ... What is the reason so many people still do this? Is it because they are not aware of these risks? or is it simply because they are ok with the odds?

I would have loved to keep it. A chat mod exists to show the latest chat threads in a specific room - We are considering putting that in it's place and having a room in the chat system called "Announcements" or something like that... but we are not 100% sure it will work the way we want yet so we will be testing it first.

Yeah, the programmer who wrote it did a HORRIBLE job! It was killing the site due to BAD CODE so it had to go. We are working on another solution.

I have no idea what you are referencing this to? But... if one service provider comes to me and says that another service provider has a std/sti and wants to post about it here on cerb I must say no unless you have 100% proof of this (and telling me that she told you this directly is not proof to me). Many people (Guys and Gals) think they can slander someone they do not like by spreading very damaging lies like this. What they end up doing is reinforcing stereotypes and adding to the problem we already face. Why do people still have unprotected sex? We are all intelligent adults here who are all capable of making choices and unless you live in a bubble you know the risks of unprotected sex... it has been drilled into us since the 80's so no one has any excuse for doing it! First... If a SP is offering to have unprotected sex chances are she feels she has nothing to loose. The guys are just idiots for agreeing to this (or) they are willing to take a change of a serious STD/STI infection being spread. Everyone knows the risks of unprotected sex. If the lady even gives you the option guys... you should end the call right on the spot and leave as your risk factor just increased significantly because if she is offering this to you she offers it to others as well! Secondly... if she knows she is HIV positive and she does not disclose that before sexual contact she is seriously breaking the law here in Canada. If this is the case you should report her to the police. She should face trial and be put in jail if this is what she is doing. No excuses for that. If someone has HIV they must disclose this to any partner before having sex. Thirdly... you can still contract different stands of HIV. So even if you have HIV and you should still use protection. HIV is not the only risk either... Syphilis is also a killer! Also.. it's rare but HepC can also be passed by sexual contact as well.

Many of the ladies and agencies require a phone number to verify you with. Not everyone does this but they should. Phone numbers help with security for the ladies Keep in mind they could be walking into a home or hotel room where someone with malicious intent is waiting to do them harm. Any one who's intent is to do hard will not want to verify a phone number. It also makes guys think twice about acting improperly on the call.

No one was attacking you. You lashed out because they told you it was not appropriate to post that question. It was just a senior member giving you advise. The ladies rates do not belong on the recommendations for very obvious reasons. Instead of posting that question publicly it should have been PM'd to the person who recommended her (or) better yet... to her. It's easy to missread a post and feel someone is attacking you, but you need to ask yourself why they would be attacking you first before you blow it out of proportion and assume it is an attack. If someone feels another member is attacking them the worst thing you can do here is retaliate in the public threads. Simply click the "Report This" icon found on all the posts and threads. This will flag it for me to review and allow you to add a comment for me to read. I will deal with situations like this (please don't take it into your own hands - that never ends well) Now, this conversation should have never taken place on the ladies recommendation and I am sure everyone involved agree's with me here. A comment should have been posted that "that is not an appropriate thing to ask on her recommendation" and the conversation should have been moved to PM's and the original post flagged (using the report this icon) for me to remove. Thank you to all the members who helped with the great answers here! I was away today taking a day off and I am very impressed with the members for the comments on this thread!!
