I said this before, this award is open to SP's and the Hobbiests. Everyone is eligible who does not already hold the honor. It's not called the "Valued Hobbiest" award for a reason. Maybe we will come up for one in the future for just the guys but for now this one is open to everyone. Some of you are making the SP's not feel very welcome and I will tell you all that if you do that here you will get the boot. Many of the ladies contribute A LOT to this site so this is (and will not) be up for debate. It looks like this may be the last valued member award that is publicly voted on as it's causing problems and making some people not feel welcome with stupid comments being made. I hope everyone has said what they wanted and no one else makes any more dumb comments.

It is a automated feature actually... the ELITE status is automatically given as a promotion.... however the SERVICE PROVIDER status is the top status for the ladies accounts. It gives them all the abilities that the Elite members have plus access to the SP ONLY area.

I actually moved this as it was posted in another thread (Not really relevant). I meant to comment that it was moved and got a phone call so I was side-tracked. The other thread was discussing a specific person so I did not want anyone to think this was the same person.

The SP award is for your favorite SP member the Valued Member award is for members contributions to the site. Many SP's contribute a lot to this site! Emma and many of the other ladies contribute to this site, taking time to answer your questions and to be part of the community. They deserve recognition as much as the guys who contribute. Now, maybe we should offer TWO awards when we do this? One for the SP with the highest votes and one for the Hobbiest with the highest votes? Would anyone object to this? This award is just a way to show some recognition to everyone who contributes. Just to be nominated means at least 1 person on the site values your contributions (that says a lot about you!) and to have additional people vote for you here shows that more then 1 person values your contributions and wants to see you get some recognition for it. It's nice to get the MOST votes but really everyone involved in the poll is already a winner. Personally I think Pete and Emma both contribute a lot to the board and would love to see either of them win the recognition (or both)... but the vote is not over yet and I am not going to withdraw anyone from the voting poll. We only have 89 voters so far and 1000's of members. So far 2,104 people have viewed this thread and 89 have voted. That is just 4% of the viewers... hopefully we can increase this number.

Hi Ricco, I can REMOVE these if needed but your rep point level is not high enough yet to impact others (only your comments would show up) you need to have a higher level of rep points before you can give or take any away from anyone else.

Cerb runs on multiple servers and the main server is a dedicated quad xeon (64 bit) w/8gigs ram at present time. A little more juice than most desktops.

I don't think we need to restart, it is multiple choice (Sorry you overlooked that). If it was not multiple choice a re-vote would be in order. I can leave vista ultimate 64bit running for weeks on both my desktop and laptop these days without problems. I find if I let outlook 2007 get more than 10 thousand emails in the junk folder it will bring the entire system down but if I remember to keep dumping the trash bin every few days in outlook it runs stable. It's all specific to what software/hardware combos your running. I hate to admit it as I am not a Microsoft fan... but... I am actually pretty happy with vista64 but I have 8 gigs of ram and quad core cpu (it is hungry for resources) and if you don't have the ram maxed out your going to be unhappy. Mac's don't usually have hardware issues unless you tinker with them and install unsupported hardware (then they often have similar problems to a windows os environment). Even some mac software can make them go a little squirrely at times. I can report that both the DualG5 Mac has not been rebooted in over 3 months (runs awesome) and the new xeon quad server running fedora core7 linux is hauling ass (and very stable) so they do both win hands down over vista still.

I should say that it was only ONE alternative handle... not like the lady we caught a while back with 12+ fake memberships votting for herself. Now... youngStud may not have been around when she got caught with the fake accounts but just so everyone knows in advance 1) I can see who voted being I am the site admin 2) A system is in place to notify me if the same IP address votes for any poll more than once. When I get this notice I start digging and I will catch anyone who does this. I asked him about the alternate account and he admitted to having it (Did not deny it) so kudo's for confessing and unfortunately it did disqualify you from this times running for the valued member... sorry.

We all let our emotions get the better of us at times! Hopefully lilHottie and others can move past this and we can be continue on in a positive way. From the looks of it you have lots of people who value your contributions and it shows good character to admit and apologize for breaking the rules in the past. If anything I have to be harder on the well known guys (and the ladies) with the high post counts when they break the rules as the other members think I am favoring them (and they all know better).

Dreamer has made some great contributions to this site and helped a lot in getting the site popular in the Ottawa area. We are all human and we all slip up and let our emotions run wild at times... and because of that I know a few of you have issues with dreamer (and it seams this thread is making you feel the need to tell me about these issues in PM's). I am not saying give dreamer rep points for no reason, if you have found his posts helpful in the past do the guy a solid and reward him for it. If you don't feel that way the best thing for you to do is NOT give him any points... no one is cheating the rep system. Gesh!

Dreamer has earned a good reputation around here, he was on a sabbatical when the whole rep system was put in place so you could find one of his older posts and rep him up.... when he gets close to god status I will have to up the level. ;0)

Guys, please keep the negative comments off the site. I had to remove a number of posts above - please remember cerb is about the positive things.

We should really all turn our machines off at night (especially windows users as the windows updates are down now on power down).... but I am guilty, I leave it on. Leaving it on... The fans tend to draw more dust in and wear out quicker as they run all the time (especially on the older machines). When they go into hibernation however they really use very little power. I am guessing that it probably costs you about 25-30 bucks a year extra in hydro to leave it on.

No one checks the members list before registering and no two people can have the same name (the system does not allow that) .... and let's face it, Peter / Pete is a very popular name. If someone comes and calls themselves "PistolPeter" or "spud228" or "dumpy" (you get the point) than I would step in and ask them to change the name (and I have done this for other names in the past).

Tim's also uses 18% cream - this makes a HUGE difference for people who use cream in their coffee. They have recently switched to use Splenda for their choice of sweeter as well and I find this tastes just as good as sugar in a coffee (The aspartame stuff like sweet-n-low and sugar twin are horrible and chemical tasting but I really like splenda). I use splenda instead of sugar (since I have 2 or more extra large coffee's from tim's a day!). I use to order the coffee without sugar and add the splenda myself but Tim's got smart and switched! TIP: Since the sweeter is pre-packaged if you take your coffee double double in a xtra-large cup like I do you need to ask for 3 sweetners to make the coffee taste the same as the double double as antlerman is right on with the creme and sugar settings being measured per cup size.
