  1. Advertising revenue? LOL.. No, this site makes so little in advertising right now it doesn't even begin to put a scratch in the overhead costs to run a board like this. We do not push advertising or make it mandatory to pay for advertising in order to post ads. We will be adding more ad spaces to the site (hence the new wider format of the site layout) because as the site continues to grow it will be necessary to do this as escorts-canada will only be able to support the site by itself up to a certain level than additional advertising revenue will be required. The formula is simple... The more ladies that participate on the board (place ads, contribute, post photos, use chat, etc...) the more men the site will appeal to. The threads and the recommendations are also a HUGE part of the appeal to the site but the ladies having a safe place to come and be part of the community is the entire concept of this site so in order for the site to continue to grow we need the ladies to want to be part of our community. You all help make the site what it is and with your contributions it helps make the site mutually beneficial to everyone. In the world of websites the basic rule is "Traffic = Value" The higher our membership count is the higher the site traffic becomes and in turn the higher the site traffic becomes the bigger our operating budget becomes as from a business perspective the higher the traffic the higher the value. Why? The operating revenue for cerb comes from escorts-canada.com (Our company owns both sites as most of you know). Cerb sends a few thousand visitors a day to escorts-canada. To pay for that traffic from other sources it would cost about 4000.00 a month (at this time) in advertising so instead of paying some other site for advertising we simply use the money to operate cerb and escorts-canada actually saves a little on its advertising budget this way and the advertising budget used goes to cerb (a good investment for everyone) This pays for staff, hosting costs, chat room costs, bandwidth, license fees for software, software upgrades, server upgrades, etc... etc... The banners right now are a BONUS to our budget and allow us to purchase stuff like the "REPORT A USER" feature in the chat (I think that was 150.00 US) and the banner system in the chat room (I think that was another 200.00). The next purchase with the banner revenue will be to do the template work to the site to add the additional banner spaces I mentioned above to the new wider layout. This will be about 500.00-700.00 I suspect to do the HTML/CSS/PHP work required to add the banner spots where we need them. This will give us some more "bonus" revenue for now to help the site grow even more. We have no intention of making cerb a profitable website. It would be nice to have enough advertising revenue to make itself sustaining but that will probably take a number of years more to reach that point.
  2. Pete, I watched the owner of a bar (who was bartending at the time) take the spill over from the draft (that grate under the draft tap) and pour it into a bottle and hand it to the waitress to take to a guys table. My friend was dating her and when I told him about it he said she did it all the time, often she would put the bottles back in the fridge and place a cap back on the bottle (so that the beer would get cold again and be less noticable). Not only is the beer in the overflow GROSS the bottle was some other guys unwashed bottle. So the bottles are not even safe in some bars! This was a small town hole in the wall place so I am sure it does not happen a lot but I can tell you first hand that it does happen.
  3. The ladies change phone numbers often, these threads are archived for years so it causes a lot of WRONG number calls down the road. (Some other reasons exist as well but that is enough to ask not to post them).
  4. Or better yet look on another site or at least make sure you have the URL to Cowboys blog as CL is FULL of scams and cons. This is why it is censored here as we do not want to encourage new users to visit CL and book calls.
  5. Thanks Mandalay, just by contributing to the board you are helping. The more ladies who participate on the board the bigger our budget is on cerb!
  6. The new spam bot capacha system is working very well. I came in today and not one SPAM was in the queue! This is the first time in WEEKS that this has happened so it is stopping them for now... I am sure within a few weeks they will find a way to beat it.
  7. That is a UNDERSTATEMENT! lol.. it's overwhelming to be honest. You should see the list of BANNED IP's! Also I usually have 30+ PM's a day and 100's of things to moderate such as guestbook entries, photo comments, photos, each new users first 10 posts are also moderated ...etc.. etc.. It's really a full time job as I probably put well over 40 hours a week into cerb on top of my other job duties.

    Photoshop magic

OMG! Do you know how long that would have taken that person to do all that! I have well over 14 years experience using photoshop and it would take me days to pull that one off and I don't think I could do the face and hair that good (who has that much time to prove something like that could be done!) This is not something that is easily done.... and they did a amazing job on her face and hair... Usually when someone alters a body they take 5 to 10 pounds off (NOT 150+) lol Thanks for sharing the link
  9. They are all SPAM accounts - it's been a NIGHTMARE the last 3 weeks!! I am deleting at least 40 posts a day from these jokers! Some new SPAM BOT was developed that beats the capacha on the registration pages of any discussion site using the same software as cerb (vbulletin). Someone just came out with a kick ass image verification system for new registrations that should put an end to it (at least for now). I installed it tonight.
  10. I moved the post from Moncton's finest to here (http://cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=13569)
  11. True, he is not saying he is a law enforcement officer but he is implying it (no doubt about that). He does not have to say it right out but try explaining that one to a judge! Even just implying that should be enough - they take that very seriously! We are pretty sure we know who it is. Some guy is trying to get the ladies address's and than he finds the landlords of the buildings (if that info is available) and contacts the landlords and rats the ladies out. I suspect this guy is the same guy who was harassing Leanne, emma, prettypage and others. It could be another ass but chances are it's the same guy just escalating his attempts (he seams to love the attention).
  12. Keep in mind it could be a internet cafe computer used by several members! The only one we have caught RED HANDED was studlyone so far. The other members are guilty by association and it could be that they used the same public computer. It is possible that a internet cafe in Ottawa is using Rogers internet. All I know for sure is that studlyone, bgood and wiggely all logged in using the same computer but we can not take any chances so all accounts were removed. This is a very likely as I would suspect that if someone was pretending to be a law inforcement officer would use a internet cafe so that they could not be traced back as it is illegal to impersonate a person of the law.
  13. I did not know they had removable hard disks back than! You learn something new every day!
  14. Yup, tape backups. This is mainframe stuff... and the photo is a small one for sure. The ones we used were much larger (about 6 feet tall) and about 10 of them side by side in the room. I remember a floor one as well with a huge cylinder but I can't remember what it was for. Wow, it's been a long time!
  15. Did it look like this? or was it in a hard case? In the early to mid 80's most places were using DLT's (Digital Linear Tape Backups) Before that they used real to real backups (drives looked like this)
  16. A member (studlyone) has been banned for impersonating a police officer on cerb (no idea why they are doing this - probably just to cause someone problems). This person had multiple accounts. We also banned bgood and wiggely (Same internet connection). We have removed these member accounts (it was a rogers home internet connection). If you received a PM like this (Below) please REPORT it to us if it was from another username. Real police would not conduct themselves in such a unprofessional manner so this is just someone trying to cause problems.
  17. The stats are actually not working. Since we moved the site to the new server the stats have died on us. (see screen shot below) We are looking at switching to another program but it's not a priority right now. The log files are just too large for this old stats program (webalizer) to handle (at least that is what we suspect it is - it's really not a priority). We also purged about 2000 members a few months ago. Members who never posted and had not logged in within 2 years were removed from the site so the membership is significantly higher. From what we can tell our traffic is about the same as it was the last time I posted stats. Between 6 and 12 thousand daily visitors. This is actual visitors (not "Hits") hits count with every banner displayed, image served, page served, etc... that really tells you nothing. Some people will tell you how many "Hits" their website gets to try to impress you but the hits don't really mean anything. The "Unique Visitors" and the "Page Views" are the real number. As you can see you can have 757487 hits a day and that accounts for 9487 actual visitors viewing over 170 THOUSAND pages on your site a day.
  18. Where they floppy disks or reals? I know they made 8inch floppies (I think that was the largest), they were HUGE looking! I don't recall anything larger (I suspect they did not go much larger due to friction) - the 5 1/4's wore quick so I could not imagine the life span of a 8inch. I did work on a unix mainframe and everything was backed up on real to real disks. The comment about the rubber under the console sounds a lot like a terminal for a mainframe. They were in place for static and vibration as the printers and even the drives back than would make the room shake so everything was on antivibration mats.
  19. I loved my commodore64. The vic20 was painful but the 64 was great. I was a main sysop of a large BBS network (some of you may remember them.. the BBS network was called "the Dungeon") they would only accept one person logged in at a time (Dial up) and every night the computers would call each other and swap info so the entire network was updated so that you could log in to any of the computers and see all the threads and files from the day before. We use to have a text toll play game called empire that I loved. I miss those days! :( We had two floppy drives running - one was a 5 1/4 inch double sided floppy drive and the other was a high capacity 3.5 inch drive (I think we paid 1200.00 for it! and 1000.00 for the v90 modem)
  20. One of the big problems with laptops is that the hard drive (Spinning) chews up all the power. So stuff like the EEE, PDA's and Cell Phones use flash memory but this has pretty much been limited to under 8GB (32GB was the top limit with the SDHC cards) but by the end of the year we will see the new SDXC cards come on the market. They have 32GB and up but in theory they will be able to have up to 2 terra bytes! (that is 2000GB - well technically it is 2048GB but we round it off to make is simple) For all the old school computer people... that is over 1'538'461 "3.5 inch floppy" disks worth of data on something the size of a tooney!! (or almost 3000 CD's or 425 DVD's or 235 dual layer DVD's) - no matter how you look at it it's HUGE and will change a lot of things!

  22. Your all making me feel warm and fuzzy inside! Thank you all for the nice comments - it makes our job worth it! It's very satisfying to know that our concept of a positive board works. We felt that a board that was friendly (especially to all the ladies) was exactly what the industry needed and was missing. I hated going to the other boards and reading slanderous comments about the ladies and god forbid if they tried to defend themselves (or a nice guy tried to speak up for them) they were just shot down and bullied into leaving the site. It was horrible and sad. We have proven that this concept works so hopefully in time the other forums will follow our lead. (and I think some are slowly seeing the light) I know some of the board owners think that the drama and the bashing bring more people to the site (and that may be true) but those people just wreck the site for everyone else as they get off on slandering and ganging up on women and it becomes a lot less enjoyable. Plus the ladies will not want to take bookings from guys on sites like that in fear of a bad review or worse... the guy being a bully and treating her like crap. I hope that cerb's rules and format make this site uninteresting to those guys so they stay away. It does take a lot more effort to run a board this way and it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination! It's hard to run because it must be run as "all or nothing" meaning sometimes the negative comments or negative reviews are legitimate warnings but we can not allow one and not the other. The community that we have here works together and we have an amazing group of members and contributors! I am happy to be part of the community and I am very grateful to everyone who participates on cerb to make it such a great place.
  23. I actually agree with that statement. I hate stereotypes but I have to admit that if it says "asian massage" it's probably something you would want to avoid. The police all across canada have been targeting these places due to sex slavery (Forced to work) and 98% of the asian ads appear to be bait and switch photos. Out of the 100+ asian massage/escort agency ads in Toronto I beleive 2 of them use legitimate photos. Some indipendant ladies of asian decent advertise legit but the rest is really just bait and switch. I usually knock down stereotypes so I hate to admit it but this is one I agree with (at least at this time)
  24. The Samsung Q1 is something I considered. (http://reviews.cnet.com/tablet-pcs/samsung-q1-ultramobile-pc/4505-3126_7-31781057.html) but it's still fairly slow so I am holding out for something similar with more juice. I really like the asus tripple e's and running linux they are quick. How is the battery life?
  25. Not interested in that. If this is what people want we might as well remove the very expensive cam system... I made the text only room and no one uses it... chat is getting much better as time goes on however - I see new faces and regulars in it all the time now.
