CERB Advertising and Linking Back?
mod replied to Parker's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
It is mandatory. If you are using cerb to advertise your website (by placing a URL on your ad or in your signature) ... We require a link back us. It's only fair. We ask that you place this link on the page you are linking to. So if you link to your front page we hope you proudly display the cerb link (or banner) on your home page and not hidden on some links page - If we can not find it when we go to check up on this cause it's not on your site or lost somewhere on a obscure page we will suspend the account until it has been fixed -
LOL... Good point. (True with any *nix based machine)

Just check the FAQ area for abrivations. http://cerb.ca/vbulletin/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_faq#faq_abbreviations

flyboy2672 (The original poster of this recommendation) has no other posts so you should always check the persons credibility before accepting the recommendation. It does sound like he may have been given different service than you (and a number of factors can attribute to this). Always check the posters credibility (Number of posts and reputation) and also always keep in mind that YMMV (Your millage may vary).

That is GREAT advise I have a infocus HD projector so I cheated and projected the wall until I found the size I wanted. A blanket would have been way easier! LOL

If the screen you are buying is big (42+ inches) you may want 120mhz but the smaller ones do not need this (and most people would not notice the difference until you get up into the 50+ inch screens as the lower refresh rates can cause "Ghosting" in the quick action screens. If you plan to use a computer on the TV stay away from 720p screens (you will wish you had a 1080p) Also on my screen at my house I see a significant difference between the 720p content and the 1080p content in widescreen. If your going to go with HD chanels or even a dvd player with 1080p you will want to spend a few bucks more and make sure your screen is 1080p. If you just watch regular cable on this tv stick with 720p and save some bucks.

The picture is brighter on a plasma, the color is more true and the blacks are true black .... but they will not last as long (the plasma does burn out quicker than LCD's but new screens it's only about 10000 hours difference as LCD's will last 60000 hours and plasma's on average last 45-500000 hours (it us to be much less). Lcd's blacks are murky and not really black. LCD is better for computers if your planning to use it for a computer display as well. LCD will not burn in as easily (Plasma will) and the resolution is better on a LCD. Plasma refresh speed is better. Energy consumption: LCD wins.. Plasma uses more energy (power) to run if that is a concern. LCD often has hot spots as it's back lit with a florescent white bulb - this is also the reason for the murky blacks as to make black on a LCD the screen must block out the white light by turning on all the colors on that pixel full. This is not the case with the new sony LCD's however from my understanding.. they can turn off the white back light to give you true black on each pixel. The new Sony bravia engine2 (LCD) and the Sharp Aquos (LCD) have really done some great things with LCD as they both do the BLACK's and WHITES much better (Much more like plasma). The sony does this by using a white LED back lighting (from my understanding - don't quote me on this but I recall this is how they achieve this) and Sharp does it with a black tft layer (or something like that) ... if you go compare them you will notice that the sony and the aquos are much closer to the plasma's in terms of contrast and sharpness. My suggestion: Go to a store with LOTS of tv's and look at the pictures. Make sure you stand back from the TV the same distance it will be in your house. Also check viewing angles (can the people sitting off center see the screen as clearly? - you should have at least 120 degree viewing angle). Pick the one you like My personal choice: I prefer plasma in a large room or in a sunny room where you need it to be very bight... but in a smaller (normal) size room LCD is preferred as I find the plasma too bright and too much contrast in a darker and smaller room. I actually own a number of LCD's and never bought a plasma (as I have computers hooked up to all the tv's - obviously) and it's not a good idea to do that with plasma. My large lcd is getting close to replacement time and I think I will go with the new sony lcd with the engine2 but I will wait till the lcd I have now dies (should be within the next year) so who knows what they will come out with

Even trusted sources are subject to nasty stuff. If it contains a virus/trojan that the antivirus scanners do not have the "DNA SIGNATURE" the scans come back as virus free (giving you the impression that it is safe). Really nothing is safe. This is why you should never open a email attachment (even from a trusted friend) as the email is P2P (Peer 2 Peer) transmitted from one person directly to another. If you buy software from the company and download it from a trusted company you are MUCH more safe. Any software that is "cracked" or has a "Serial Key Generator" will most likely contain some sort of nasty code (spyware to a full trojan) as the software pirates these days often have a very different (sometimes profitable) agenda.

Good to hear. The optimization tools (one pre-loads stuff into your computers memory on boot) really seam to help as well. It has a number of useful tools that actually seam to work.

1.5 is fast when dealing with torents or any p2p... Remember p2p (peer to peer) sharing is always VERY slow as your download speed is probably VERY high but your upload speed is VERY LOW! You may have 8mbps download but most people have at most 250kbs upload speed (unless you pay for a business plan with lots of upload bandwidth). If your downloading torents and hitting 1.5mbps you found a torrent source with very large upload ability. Upload speeds are limited with most ISP's. When you run P2P programs everyone who downloads from you must deal with your slow upload speed (Nothing you can do can make this better and it has nothing to do with your download speed - it's on the other end) Also with most p2p programs you have the ability the throttle your upload speed (You should always do this if you share files) so that it does not effect your computers performance and just runs in the background (also stops you from getting in trouble with your ISP) TIP: Really you should not use torrents unless you really know a lot about virus's and trojans. Virus's and other nasty stuff get passed around P2P faster than the antivirus companies can detect them so if you download anything other than a photo your taking a BIG chance.

Buggernot is correct, they really do nothing for high speed. Dialup however it does make a difference. It gzips the content into a single compressed (smaller) file and downloads the file and un-compacts it (from my understanding). If your still on dialup you need to dump it and move to at least wireless. Yes, bell and others can throttle your bandwidth. We run a ISP WISP (wireless internet service) and we throttle the bandwidth on this. If someone is downloading movies and hogging the bandwidth they get throttled back automatically by the software the runs the system - so that it does not affect the other people on the node. I personally prefer cable over DSL. I get 8mbps (6 on average) with rogers now and am very happy with it. I got 1.5 mbps on my 6mbps bell on average and because of some crappy auto renew contract they screwed me for almost 500.00! I NOW STAY AWAY FROM BELL! Check out my thread on this tool http://cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=10778 if your system is running slow.

Most of the registry cleaners are useless and can do more harm than good. I have actually seen computers blue screen, slow down and really do bad things after using some of these so called "registry cleaners" so I have never recommended them in the past. Usually I would say.. "Back up your shit and format the hard drive for a fresh install of windows". Now I have a new tool to work with first. I recently had a P4 computer come to me that was running very slow. this was a business computer that the XP install was original and from when they first released XP ... It was a mess of partially uninstalled programs and all sorts of stuff. The owner did not have copies of all his software so he really did not want to format the drive (it's hard to find a copy of lotus 123 these days!). I updated the bios, malware/spyware removed, all new up to date drivers, etc.. ran the windows update so it was all up to date and still no luck so I asked some fellow geek friends what they suggest as I tried everythign I knew of to fix this short of formatting and starting over. I only got one suggestion other than "format" and it was a FREE program called mace craft (http://www.macecraft.com/). I have had bad experiences with registry cleaners and compression tools in the past buy I was assured this would make a big difference so I tried it. what did we have to loose at this point. To my surprise it did work - and well. The computer was noticeably faster when I ran the registry cleaner and the registry compression tool. It has some more tools as well like a system optimizer that does some pre-load memory tricks so I ran and played with those tools as well until the system was running better than new. Usually a system slows down due to spyware/malware these days and also the antivirus programs are really heavy on the system resources. Make sure you clean out the spyware/malware as your first step if your system is slow but if that does not work this program would be on my list of things to try.

Oh, and the most impressive dancing action figures (this is actually interactive, you choose either the joker or batman and it's impressive how they did this), I am a big fan of well done viral commercials and this takes it to a new level. And if you choose batman your first dance move is called GFE (Just thought that was funny)

The problem with purging members is some people do take a year (or more) off the hobby (personal relationships, financial issues, etc...) and when they get back in the swing of it they log back in. I would love to purge old accounts but people log in 2+ years after the originally created the account. Why make them re-register and possibly loose the ALIAS that they were previously known by. I prefer to leave it and I think what we will do is purge them after say 4 or 5 years without a log-in.

Any Vancouver Hobbyists here?
mod replied to a******s.m*****e's topic in Escort Discussion for Vancouver
We do have BC members. Give them time time respond. Cerb will catch on. Perb is such a popular site out this way that people really don't look much further as perb has loads of info for the BC area. If you regularly contribute here others will follow and it will grow quickly (just look at Ottawa and Winnipeg both seam to have grown overnight). Cerb is linked off the front page of localescorts.ca (A very popular BC based escort directory and we receive thousands of visitors a month from localescorts.ca alone. It's also linked off escorts-canada (another popular site for Vancouver listings). In order for the search engines to pick up the site however it needs content with keywords (like vancouver escorts and vancouver massage etc...) google and other search engines read and store the contents of cerb almost daily and this helps index the site. If no one is contributing on cerb in the Vancouver area it will not get listed. It only takes a few people who like the concept of this site to really get it going in their city. It would be great to have more contributors in the SP ONLY area for Vancouver as well. -
What is the most favorite sex act for Ladies
mod replied to Capital Hunter's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Your comment is rather shallow and I think you will be surprised as most of the ladies here enjoy the job and like the regular average guys. You sound a little jaded so I hope you come around in time and realize how wrong you are here. -
It's simple. They put the fake photo up to lure more guys to the place. ("Oh, Sorry she had to leave but I am available") or ("It is me I just gained some weight and that photo is a few years old") etc... etc.. Many guys when they arrive will say "I am here I might as well stay anyway" so this bait and switch will continue to go on until everyone gets screwed enough that it really starts to damage the business. We found out previously here on cerb that most guys stick around and continue the call even knowing that they had been bait and switched. If more of you would walk away this would happen less and less. This is not the "getting screwed" part your after so leave and say "your photos are fake I can not stay".

You should report these persons in the SP ONLY area. PM me for details on how to gain access to this area if you do not already have access. People like this need to be posted in the bad date area.
-
Again, this is just going to encourage them more. Report these people to me instead of complaining about them in public and calling them out. Too negative too! If someone is causing a problem in a THREAD or a PM just click the REPORT POST icon and this will flag it for me. No one here will get flamed for anything. If you notice someone SLANDERING, FIGHTING, CALLING OUT, SPREADING RUMORS, ETC... FLAG THEM Calling them out like this will only show them that they are getting to you and you are proving to them that the efforts they are exhausting are having effects here. If it happens in CHAT just copy the log to me in a PM and I WILL DEAL WITH THEM. I can BAN THEM if you tell me PRIVATELY who they are.
