  1. what worm was it? I don't mean to scare you cap but you should probably format your computer and re-install windows. See worms/trojans/virus's etc... can give enough access to your computer so that the hacker/script kiddie can install another program that the scanners will not pick up. The scanners find it and "Clean" it but only clean what they know is a virus/trojan/worm... anything installed by that virus/trojan/worm will avoid detection. You need to have a updated antivirus on your computer to catch them BEFORE they are installed on your computer. Now... I asked what one it was because many worms are stopped by stuff like firewalls and some you contract after they become obsolete (Never activated) so you may get off lucky. Unfortunatly 9 of 10 times if the virus/trojan/worm has already entered into your system and executed it can not be cleaned as it will randomly make new files and worm it's way thru your computer infecting other misc. files making it impossible to clean. If you do ONLINE BANKING or use your CREDIT CARD with your computer you may want to keep a very close eye on your financials... and if you notice your computer going really slow lately it could have a spam (email) worm that the spammers use the worm to make your computer send spam (so they can not be traced). Most of the worms these days are used by spammers and phishing for credit card info. Some will allow the hacker complete control over your system (can ever turn on your webcam without you knowing) - this is why some webcams now come with a sheild that you can flip down over the lense and many now have a bright light on them to signal that they are on and streaming.
  2. The worm was activated but is still waiting for instructions from the creator. He/She could use it at anytime if they choose (they seam to just be lying low right now)
  3. Hi Hammer1955, this is your first and only post on CERB and I found photos of Victoria in your album. It really appears that you are trying to "Promote" this lady and that would make this post a SHILL post. This is not permitted here if that is what you are doing.
  4. Once you are infected with a worm/virus/trojan you really can't be 100% sure you got rid of it so your best bet is to format the computer and reinstall windows. If you have any documents on the computer or photos you should burn them to disk or put them on a backup drive (but) with this worm it will actually copy itself to your backup drive and install a autorun file on the drive so when you connect it to the new fresh instal it copies itself back in so you must remove the auto config file in the root of the drive. I don't think it can copy itself to DVD or CD as that requires a BURN so backup to CD/DVD is probably your best choice. Don't backup software (any software could hold a copy of the virus) just format the drive, install a FRESH copy of windows and install all your sofware back from the original disks. It's a LOT easier to.... 1) make sure your computer is set to automatically get the microsoft updates and patches 2) not open any email attachements that are not photos GIF, BMP, PNG, JPG's (Those are reall the only ones that are 100% safe along with .txt files - everything else can pretty much contain a virus) 3) have a good antivirus installed and have it update regularly If you do not do those three things you will get a virus (it's just a matter of time and it's a nightmare trying to deal with a compromized system).
  5. Technically April 1st, 2009 has already arrived in some parts of the world... for instance it is 4 am right now in South Korea as I type this and South Korea is in the TOP 5 infected countries and it's almost April first in Seoul. No news yet of what (if anything) has happened in regards to updating. All we know is on April 1st the worm seeks out new instructions from its programmer and this is done in a way that is virtually impossible to trace the person giving the worm instructions. Chances are we will not see anything happen until it becomes April 1st here. Anyone with a up-to-date antiviral program and a properly updated windows XP or Vista should not be too worried but depending on what this worm does tomorrow.
  6. If you are running windows XP or Vista and have the automatic security updates off (as many people do) you could be in trouble. The worm exploits a Windows vulnerability (Known as MS08-067) but windows did release a patch a long time ago The worm is very smart. It can explore network shares with weak or no passwords so it spreads with home office networks, office networks and wifi networks. The worm contains a list of common passwords so if your network or wifi password is "god" (or pretty much any dictionary word) or no password at all - well you may have it if someone in your network got it (or) you may be passing it onto others. What it does... it Copies itself to removable media (USB sticks flash cards media drives etc). Using the AutoRun function (creates autorun.inf file so when you put your USB stick into another computer it shares itself with the other computer. It's not a joke and it has a LOT of people worried. Turns out Microsoft put up a 250'000.00 bounty on the creator. If you are infected and you will want to run out and buy a backup drive right away and start moving files. Don't search on google for a "Free" scan to get rid of it as reports say most of the "FREE SCAN" software is in fact full of virus's. Here is a link to a free scan from microsoft http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm (but don't try it with firefox - you must be using IE to use this scan. You can download stuff like AVG, AVAST and other free virus scanners (they should all detect this worm)
  7. So we have a confirmation that is was the same guy we booted before who tried to use a similar name as another member. He must have went out and got a new IP address as it slipped through. It was a static IP so he will need to do that again to come back.

  9. I think that would be less obvious but... I don't think it is really what words you use to describe it rather what it is intended to be used for. If it was set up as just a verification system (No other info just a verification that the other lady had visited with a guy it would probably be ok (I would want to run that by a lawyer first if I was personally making a website for that however just to be sure). If you have the ability to browse comments, ratings, details, etc... that other ladies make about the guys you would be in hot water as it would virtually be a referral system. (again, I am sure you could find a way around this - speak to a lawyer)
  10. I am still not 100% sure this is the same guy who previously got banned. If someone knows something I don't please PM me as I do not see anything (in public at least) that would make me think this was done intentionally (But I am still reading posts while I reply to this as you all have been busy over the weekend). I have asked SPUD to change his name and until I know for sure it is someone who has previously been banned I must allow him on the site (We will just keep a close eye on him for now) Maybe it's something he did or said in chat but you guys need to PM me when you see something weird going on. I can't stay on top of everything all the time. (I do try but it's not possible so I rely a lot on you all as a community to inform me if you think I need to moderate something I may have missed or overlooked. I also can not read your PM's so if something happens in a PM you must FLAG it for me to read.

  12. I would agree with you. This (in my books) would be a reference check and not a referral. A referral I think would need to be unsolicited (Meaning you did not specifically ask about a certain person). ...but than again (and I say this a lot) I am not a lawyer. If you made a board (or even a feature here) that would allow the ladies to recommend the guys (Review them) it would be considered a referral.
  13. I don't have that problem yet, maybe my firefox did not update. Thanks for the tip! (and sorry I don't have help for this one)
  14. I posted the link to the trailer in my first post (page one of this thread). I taped it on my PVR and watched 1/2 last night before I had to retire for the night but I wanted to stay up and watch it all. From what I saw it was done well and shows our wonderful ladies here in a very VERY postitive light. I am very much looking forward to viewing the rest of it. Maybe if you email the guys who made it they will put it up on youtube.
  15. Just for the record we don't edit ANYTHING posted here on cerb. These are just photos posted on escorts-canada. On E.C. Most of the time we just need to blur the ladies face (when requested) or if the photo comes to us with poor lighting we try to adjust over/under exposure with the levels so you guys can get a better view... we only airbrush the really necessary stuff out (like the kids photos and such I mentioned). Keep in mind when the ladies take the photos the subject of concentration is them (not the background) so the stuff in the background is easy to miss to the untrained eye in most cases. Usually I will say to the client "I airbrushed the photo of the child on the wall behind you out of the photo" and the reply I get 9 out of 10 times is "Oh my GOD, thank you! I didn't even realize that was in the photo". As for the common sense missing (the posing with a hand gun was lacking that if you ask me).... but the other photos are usually just stuff you easily could miss. I FORGOT THIS ONE! I was sent a photo once and behind the girl was her computer with all her passwords and account names on a paper behind the computer. The image was high resolution and you could actually zoom in and make out the passwords and stuff. As a techie I really notice this stuff... I have come across this in photos of office's as well. Website owners like to post "Virtual Tours" of the facilities and often if you loose closely you see stuff on whiteboards, pin boards and papers next to computers. Post it notes are VERY common! Leaving your passwords on postit notes is lacking common sense but taking a photo of the office and not realizing the postit note is visible with the password is just a common mistake.
  16. We have photos sent all the time with the toilet in the photo (Never a floater - at least not yet) but who here finds women next to a toilet sexy? (If you think that is sexy you are in a minority I think!) - Shower or bath - I understand that but keep the shitter out of the picture! Why do people take photos in the washroom like this in the first place? Each year I probably airbrush - 30 toilets out of photos - 40-50 boyfriends / ex boyfriends - 20 pets (Cats, dogs, etc...) - 150 family photos (especially kids school photos on the wall behind the lady) - 1000 blemishes (bruise, pimple, scratch marks - you guys leave finger bruises a lot on the ladies by the way!) - lots of laundry and messy rooms - beach shots where other people are on the beach (Common) - Lots of sex toys - guys and girlfriend in mirror shots taking the photo of the girl (Common) - License plates (One guy was busted by his wife about 10 years ago as she saw her husbands corvette with vanity plates and his really nice boat in her photos - Maybe the lady paid him to use these as "props" in the photo shoot as they were professional photos but the wife was MAD from what I was told as she called the lady with the 3rd degree and demanding the photos be removed) I have had to airbrush guns out of about 10 photos (shotguns on the wall, gun rack - most of these are missed as they are display guns at the cottage or in the house where the photos were taken) Two women thought it would be sexy to have escort photos taken holding a pistol!!! - Ladies this is NOT a good idea! as sexy as it may be to some people that type of photo does NOT belong in this business! I was shocked when I saw that for the first time and at first I thought "ok, it may just be me" so I asked around the office and everyone was floored that someone would do this... ) Other items... - probably 2 or 3 used condoms a year or wrappers - lots of penis's - a dog in the "taking a poo" position (No poo thank god) but who would use a photo like that?!?? - one time raw Chicken on counter (or small turkey) - one time a pile of cow dung swarming with flies (barn outdoor shot but ewe!) - a fly on a girls shoulder (This oddly was not a outside shot) - street address's on apartment building showing - trademark labels (Common) like coke and playboy logos in magazines - hygiene products (those bathroom shots) - One a bed sheet with obvious blood stain (We just deleted that one!) ... I am sure I am missing 100's of other "Unique" photos. We get thousands a year! I wish I could post my favorite but that would be very wrong. It was probably the most UNSEXY photo I have EVER seen. We thought it was a joke photo (someone who knows us submitting a fake ad) when they paid for the ad we didn't know what to do so we put it up without the photo assuming it was sent by mistake... NOPE, they called asking why not all the photos were posted so we had to tell her it was truly awful.
  17. Oh, this one hits home as I edit photos on EC often. Taking out photos of family in the background, dirty laundry, (YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE this stuff I have airbrushed out of backgrounds of photos over the last 12 years). This is GREAT advise for the ladies!
  18. Just so everyone knows: It is illegal for a SP to refer a client to another SP in Canada. Section 212 of the criminal code of Canada makes it illegal for this to occur. Now some of the ladies do give references to help protect themselves and others (gray area - and hopefully the law continues to look the other way as this does help keep the ladies safer). A website that specifically allowes SP's to refer clients to other SP's in Canada would in fact be pushing the law limits so I doubt anyone will actually do this in Canada. (well anyone who is smart enough to read the law on this subject that is). The website would not be illegal and the owner of the website would not be breaking the law but anyone using the site would be. This discussion was recently discussed in private with the ladies but since this thread exists I am taking the oppertunity to let everyone know why this does not already exist.
  19. Don't EVER click the ones in your email for sure!
  20. The USB devices would require USB 2.0 and on your 1.8mhz computer most likely only has 1.0 USB's so you will most likely need to buy a USB 2.0 card to install if you go this route. The bandwidth on a 1.0 USB is not high enough, they did make some capture devices for 1.0 (I do not beleive any are made now) and they were all a low quality TV capture (No high def or anything - really just for taking your old VHS movies and turning them into digital and stuff like watching TV on your computer. I hate the ATI all-in-wonder cards as whenever I use them I get conflicts with some other device (I find they do not play well with others) but I hear they are much better these days and for the price it's a very good option.
  21. Ah! It's a 1.8mhz computer and they are recommending a minimum 2.2mhz. That actually is not much different at all really. In fact if you benchmark a 1.8 to a 2.2 I doubt you would see much difference in them.
  22. Google did not remove the seach engine links to escort sites in the regular searches (Just the adwords) but I see today some ads are back online. Not sure what is going on. Maybe someone raised a really big stink with google and made them reconsider?
  23. You don't have to address this to me, it's the other members who drew concern. Reputation and contribution to the board will help establish yourself. This is a good chance to contribute to the board and show everyone you are legit. Thanks for the post and thank you JustJack for contributing as well in timzawastin's defense. Usually 99 out of 100 times the posts that look like shill posts are usually shill posts. Hopefully this was the 1 out of 100 that just appeared that way.
  24. You are referring to the GB/HR ratio? From 2.2 Gigs per hour and your card will do 1.8 Gigs per hour? This is substantially less so if it works the video image quality would be much lower. I would be surprised if HD TV worked on the 1.8 as it requires much higher bandwidth. Do you find the monitor a little dull in regards to the intensity of the colors? I am asking as it has a very low contrast ratio of 2500:1 contrast but the response time on it is 5ms so it should appear not as birght and vivid as other LCD's (and not true color - so gray's may appear bluish and stuff like that as it is a "Value" monitor). You should however be able to play video games on it as the response time should be fast enough for that. (I know you said you don't but if you ever got the urge you should have no problems with that screen) If you use the monitor for a few hours at a time one day let us know if it strains your eyes (Headache or soar eyes) that is a sign that the contrast ration is too low for extended use. I think I would have gone with a monitor with a HDMI connection and true 1080p as well if I was planning on using the monitor to watch TV but if your not concerned with HD and your fine with everything at a 4:3 (traditional aspect) ratio you should be fine as 1.8 gigs per hour is enough for that I beleive. Does the ACER logo appear when you turn the screen on? (I really do hate the acer screens for doing that - LOL - I am so impatient at times)
  25. Sounds like you should have put this into the recommendation section!
