Chantal, I think you hit the nail on the head. This world has MANY different kinds of people and we all need each other, so yes it is a trade-off. Some are math smart, some are word smart, some are artistic, some are bad at everything and some just coast by and never find anything they are good at. (Did I miss anyone?) We need all these people in society as they all have a place. What everyone needs to realize is we are all different. We must adapt and welcome change and accept people for what they are. The popular saying is "Everyone hates change" but without change we would still be hunting our own food. I am analytical. I solve problems and that is my ability (gift) in this world. You may be a artist, a magazine editor, sex worker, a public speaker, a politician, a musician, a doctor, office admin, etc... I could not be any of those things as I do not excel in any of those area's. When society tells kids that they can be ANYTHING THEY WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP they are LYING as that is the furthest thing from the truth. What they should say is keep your mind open and try everything, eventually you will find something you are good at and enjoy doing. Not everyone is cut out to be a fireman or a rocket scientist or a sex worker for that matter... and no matter how much you apply yourself unless you have a gift your not going to excel at anything you do. If you find yourself at a dead end job or not moving up on the ladder (or just unhappy) chances are you never found your true calling. It may come later in life for some. Thankfully most education is general enough to help you find your gift and set you on the right path but some people become lost souls. We are all different and that is a good thing. If we were all the same nothing would ever get done in this world. We need engineers, doctors, musicians, sex workers, entertainers, garbage men, plumbers, etc... everyone has a place in life and I do beleive everyone has a "gift". If you are going to get "Pissed Off" at someone because they do not excel at the same things you do... well you are going to be pissed off for most of your life as we really are all very different... funny thing is when you are not able to do something yourself you are going to wish you had one of those other people around to help that piss you off. ;)

I am glad they don't use pen and paper any more!! Why!?! We have evolved past that! I could care less about spelling and grammar errors myself (Mostly because I am really bad at BOTH so if the spell check does not pick it up it's good enough for me!). If you're going to correct me than you know I made a mistake... but you know what I meant so why bother correcting me in the first place. I am a math guy. I don't care to read novels or newspapers for that matter. I read some magazines, I read reference manuals and I read the odd cereal box to see what is in it... In general most of us computer guys (We like to be known as the logical thinkers) we don't do well with English (Obvious some exceptions exist) but for the most part the English language is not logical. If someone tries to correct my grammar or spelling I just laugh and wonder why someone would take the time to do that AS they obviously knew what I was talking about or they would not know I needed to be corrected in the first place!! I am old, I have been doing it all my life... You are just wasting your time (and mine) if you try to correct me. I often wonder why people bother to correct others, is it a way to say "I am better than you?" (Yes I purposely put the ? in the quotes) You must see that a middle aged men like myself are not going to change because you corrected us and like I said.. you obviously knew what I was trying to say. Chances are when you correct someone that person doesn't give a crap about proper English or grammar and 9 out of 10 times they may be offended by your correction. I like the way the language is heading. It needs change!! First... I hope we get rid or upper case letters as that would be a good start. It would let kids learn MUCH faster and spend less time learning to draw letters and more time learning important things. We no longer need to put TWO spaces after a period. That got changed so we still have some hope left for the rest of the mess! I wish they would settle with one word for each "item" and if the word sounds the same as another word find a new word to use (There, their, they're, then, than, see, sea, saw, seen, etc... etc.. - DUMB!) - Really can they make it any more complex? It's hard enough for most of us to learn it as a first language and since it is becoming a global language of choice can you imagine how hard it is to learn later in life as a second language! Don't get me started on PH/F and Silent letters... not to mention stupid "I" before "E" crap... really if we did not have to spend so much time in school being forced to learn all this shit we would be much further ahead as a society! The only PH word I like is phonetics! and I don't like the word but I like the meaning. If it sounds like the word it's good enough. (I actually worked on software that was phonetic based so that if your trying to look up someones name and you type it in the way it sounds the computer will find what you are looking for based on a phonetic algorithm - the way it should be!). Memorizing silly rules and exceptions and learning how to draw two sets of letters is pointless! We all know it's pointless so how about all you smart English people start figuring out how to fix the language as opposed to correcting everyone who misuses it. That would be a lot more productive! I am sure this post has grammar and spelling errors (Some intentional) I am sure most of my posts do, but keep in mind that... I don't care.

I agree, this is why we added the "Add to members Reputation" link under the recommendation now (This is new) this way if you found the recommendation helpful you can show your appreciation. But, I do not think the reputation points should be awarded for just the post (and also the site can not automatically add rep points for a post in a specific area so that would probably be a hard one to customize)
-
Also a VERY good point - Each cities posting rules for this could be different but that would get very complicated.
-
I see where your coming from on this... and I agree. Nothing should influence people to post recommendations other than a great experience that they want to share with others.
-
Yes, I was having a problem with some. Some of the ladies did not like the ratings for hygiene and atmosphere. I was even getting complaints from ladies with 9/10 rating and 10/10 ratings. I don't want to have anything on the site that is going to discourage the ladies from participating here so it was just better to remove the ratings all together. The recommendation section is suppose to be seen as a positive for the ladies but anyone can post a recommendation so we do get SHILL recommendations (Not a lot but I have removed some of these since we started the recommendation section). That may be an idea... should we make it so that everyone can READ the recommendations but only those with a certain LEVEL of posts and or reputation can POST a recommendation? We have a lot of FIRST TIME posters making recommendations and maybe that is where the problem is. We want to encourage the new members to participate and a lot of them have made good recommendations but the FAKE ones are often easy to pick out as they are NEW members with LOW post counts.
-
Good point Dummpy. Here is a idea... How about a RECOMMEND ME button on her profile (or something like that) and when a member (say with XX number of posts or XX reputation) clicks the button it adds to her profile (Recommended by XX number of cerb members). If she has 0 recommendations it could say "Be the first to recommend me to other cerb members - Click Here" or something like that. It would encourge the ladies to be more active on the site for sure and if we had a post count and a reputation count limit it would stop any SHILL recommendations as well. This would avoid anything negative about the ladies and we could probably have a page that says "I was recommended by ....." and list the members who recommended her to others. Or should we scrap the idea all together? Would love to hear from the ladies on this one too...

I tried it on firefox and IE using vista premium as well and can't recreate the same problem. Sucks cause I can't fix it if I can't see it.

Hi Raven. "Living off the avails" is short for "Living off the avails of prostitution" Just easier to say it without the word prostitution and some people are offended by the term prostitute so it is left out usually. The booking agents are paid by the clubs (the ladies do not pay the agents) and unless the booking agent is telling the girls they have to have sex with clients they really are not pimps. Back when I worked in clubs the booking agent would get about 100.00 to 120.00 per week per girl. (It's not as glorious a job as some may think from the outside - and it is really nothing like pimping ... people just joke around and call the booking agents "stripper pimps" but really the ladies pretty much tell the booking agent where they want to work and the booking agent sets it up for them with the clubs. Rarely will you find the actual booking agent at the club. Maybe once a week or even once a month to invoice the club, chat with the ladies and make sure they are happy and ask them where they would like to work next and get paid by the club as well (usually the club has a cheque or envelope waiting for them). I am surprised they still have booking agents to be honest. The clubs were stealing the girls from the agents (offering the girls a "House" job dancing to avoid paying the agency fee's and the girls would stop booking with the agents).. the clubs did this so often that the agents when I worked in the business were pretty much all gone. They are entertainment booking houses (Musicians who play casino and bar gigs also use entertainment booking agents - not much difference really except these days I bet the musician booking agents make more). I am sure pimps get involved with the clubs that allow "Extra's" and book exotic dancers as well as actually pimp the girls for sex but most "Booking Agents" are not pimps. I have been out of the gentleman's club business for many years now but I am sure things have not changed that much. The living off the avails part is only for prostitution (Sex). If the exotic dancer was having sex with clients in the clubs the police would be charging the club with bawdy house charges and the booking agent would never even be considered unless one of the ladies said "My agent told me I had to have sex with clients". -
Have you tried Trillian IM? they have a Beta finally for OSX and IpHONE. Trillian lets you use AIM/ICQ/MSN/etc... all on one messenger. I have not tried the OSX beta myself but this could be a cross platform solution for you.

Common bawdy house for sure. No way around that one. -
LOL.. elitist? ...No ...trendy? maybe... itunes/ipod/ietc... all have made the mac very trendy and gave mac the money to put some very good marketing to use. Really we now have a lot of people with mac's scratching their heads saying "I thought this was easier to use than a pc!". What they quickly find out is... software costs much more, less software is available and not everything comes mac compatible. Also hooking up a home network with a MAC and your PC together is hell for most people too... I even stuggled with that one!
-
That should be possible... will have to run it past the thinktank and see if it's something we can do.

Yes and No, as we all know private sex clubs such as "swingers" clubs are now legal. This is because no one is being paid for sex. Now as a private members club my understanding is that it would not fall under any municipal license requirements (For example: body rub parlor license) so the club would not have to follow the municipal rules and regulations (often very strict) of a public body rub parlor.... that comes at a price however. You can not market/advertise your club as anything but a private mens club. As soon as you say "Massage" or "Body Rub" or anything like that you would need a license (members only or not) so your advertising would be very limited to what you could SAY it is. Now if someone in the club is being paid to have sex than it would be a bawdy house (No way around that one) and it would be just a matter of time before they are shut down. If you could get around that one we would have 100's of them across Canada I am sure. Some places are very much on the border of this law. The laws have some gray areas here. (HJ's, Body Slides, Nude Massage, reverse nude massage, dom (bdsm.sm), etc... etc..) none of these involve intercourse so it leaves some people and places in the gray area. -

That is a good link you posted cherrykiss and I am glad you removed your post with the bad info. I would guess this conversation has made you (and hopefully some others) wish to research more info and learn more about the laws for this business. Unfortunately a lot of BAD info gets passed around about what is legal and what is not.... I say don't beleive everything you read or everything you are told - find the answers yourself and be better off for it! I really would urge anyone involved in either side of this business to educate yourself on the legalities of prosittution in Canada. It is legal but you must follow the laws to ensure you are doing things legally. Knowing the laws will only make you less paranoid and will help you play smarter. -
I love imovie! I have the pro stuff Adobe Premiere and Avid (Pinnacle) and for most stuff it's just easier to use imovie (It really is what the MAC is all about - it's great for video editing and multimedia). We have tons of gear at the office (Big commercial Panasonic studio HD camera, some smaller studio cameras, a genlock system with input mixer, color balancer, effects boards, etc... All sorts of great gear) but it's all packed away in storage (cerb take up too much of my time to play with it myself). We have all the audio gear as well (Full studio with tascam mixers/mackie automation mixer, processors, mics, etc..) just loads of great pro gear... Why? We had big plans to do viral commercials (Web based commercials that get passed around in emails cause they are funny but too explicit for TV) I still want to do it but no time unfortunately... My point... we have all this high end software and gear and we still used imovie to mix it down! It is easy to use, runs very fast and does the job just as good. It makes home movies look like pro video with minimal effort.

All I can say is watch out for bell. The contracts now have this bullshit auto-renew clause in them. It means when you sign up for high speed internet it is a 1 year contract. Well 14 months later I decide to cancel it and they tell me "If you cancel it you must pay 50% of your remaining contract" I say "My contract was for 1 year and it's been over 14 months so I will be fine.. the rep says "No, your contract auto-renews for another full year at the end of each year" (Some bull shit terms and conditions fine print so they can really screw you good!) - so I will owe 500.00 if I cancel now (It was the 99.99 bell high speed 8mbps etc.. crap that was still slower than cable) anyway I freak out on the poor woman and demand to speak to a manager (That was a mistake as the manager was a tool) so I was pissed and just hung up. I call back a few days later and find out that they do have a customer loyalty department where they offered to exchange and downgrade my modem for the remainder of the year to the 39.99 package. Two months later and I was still getting the bill for 99.98+ per month and they have never send me the new modem! Customer Loyalty my ass!! It's just a huge run around, long hold times, people who don't have a clue and just a giant mess and rob as much from people as they can! (Yes, I said ROB - they are very aware that NOBODY reads all the terms and conditions so by them putting this auto-renew clause in they are ROBBING people - the terms and conditions are legal notes to PROTECT them not to take advantage of the customer and trick them! - this is just a asshole move and if anyone else was to do this they would have NO customers but monopoly lets them get away with shit like this) - can you tell how much I hate bell? Instead of getting more stressed out I simply started canceling all my bell accounts and in a few months I will cancel the bell modem by bringing it right into a bell store and make them take it back in person. I added up my bell bills for the last 12 months and I spent 8712.03 to bell Canada last year. I know this is not a lot for a company like bell but how many others like me are just saying F-U and closing everything. With Vonage I get UNLIMITED long distance and every FEATURE on my phone at NO EXTRA COST (Call waitting, forwarding, call hunt, display, voice mail, and SOOO MUCH MORE) for just 40.00 a month!! (Seriously!) and I even can make calls off my laptop when I am on the road. I canceled 2 land lines and replaced them with VOIP lines with vonage (I actually really like vonage) and my bell cell phone number was also transferred to vonage and I canceled the cell phone package from bell (They are still invoicing me for that as well and vonage has had the number for months know - wonder how long before I get the notice for that unpaid bill). I cancled my bell expressvue and have a rogers pvr now (I hate rogers almost as much but I don't get screwed as much with them so it's the lesser of two evils). I have cut ties with bell and WILL NOT go back under any circumstances. I hope that enough people get sick of this and leave bell all together. I know about 30 people who work for bell and they all hate bell equally - not one person (including the installers) have ever had anything good to say about them! They had a monopoly for too long and they need to learn a lesson.

Thanks... so it brings us back to a earlier suggestion... we need a way to give rep points to someone without clicking the scale or nominating the posts. If we had a tool that could be put into a directory of ladies on here and would allow each member to add reputation to the ladies this could work... something to consider anyway.
-
Well, I will keep it in the back of my head and anyone that has suggestions let them fly!
-
Ah, it could be a mac issue... My MAC is down right now... I can't even check. ;(

Cherry, I hate to say it but your giving out some bad info. The law is not a Ontario law (It is the criminal code of canada - nation wide) and you are correct that public solicitation is illegal. You can not discuss sex for money in a public place (Including a hotel hallway or lobby) Actually, the law makes no distinction between a brothel and a incall location. Both are considered a "Common bawdy house" (A place where prostitution is done on a regular basis) most law enforcement do not bother with single ladies working from a apartment unless public complaints (usually due to high foot traffic) are made. Places like massage spa's that offer sex and outright brothels are the main target for this law but to consider any in-call location legal would be very wrong. Outcall prostitution in Canada with no public solicitation is legal. This is a myth that has been inherited from our neighbours to the south (USA) where prositution is illegal so they find creative ways to say sex for money. In Canada no law exists for advertising in the media or online and since the law definces public solicitation as "A place in public" it does not include magazines, internet and newsprint. You can say whayever you want in Canada at this time in the media... what you want to avoid is advertising something illegal like public sex acts or sex at a massage spa (This would get you busted very quickly) Pimping (aka: Living off the avails of prostitution) is illegal so agencies must be careful how they work. If the agency employees the ladies the agency is living off the avails. If the ladies employ the agency to market them, answer calls, schedule them, pay for advertising, etc... and give them a commission for this (The ladies pay the agency for the agencies services) this becomes a gray area of the law and is much more legit. If the agency is acting like a pimp and telling the ladies when to work (Often involves drugs and abuse) this is very much illegal. Have a read through the criminal code of canada (Section 210 - 213) you do not need to be a lawyer to read this (It's in regular clear english). It would be foolish to accept anyone's comments here as actual fact (Including my own) so don't. If you have questions about the law go speak to a lawyer who specializes in criminal law. Each municipality may have laws for licensing of escorts and massage as well (You should get a copy of any local bylaw and read it to prevent being harrassed. If you are a prostitute the city can not legally license you so they define "Escort" as someone who does not hav sex and force the escorts to pay this license to use the word "Escort" in their advertising. (Winnipeg, Calgary and Windsor are very well known for "bad" licensing issues from the municipality)
