  1. I would recommend taking out a twitter account. I have one for instance for food, and another primarily for politics. Through looking at other profiles and tweets, I've found much commentary and many interesting sites and blogs such as tumbler.
  2. I'm a fan of the British detective shows, and recently there's been a show on PBS which I'm enjoying. It's an unusual show set 50 years ago, the village vicar teams up with a detective to solve crimes. He's a jazz fan , takes a drink and has a couple of ladies in his life. Grantchester is the name of the show Also year three of the Vikings started last night.
  3. Had one of my molars removed a some new bone grafted. With the stitches I expect to be on pain killers for three or four days, there goes the weekend.
  4. I try to cook from scratch and that is the best way to avoid all the salt, sugar and unpronounceable chemical additives in our prepared foods. That said we have evolved a food supply system that we wouldn't be able to feed ourselves if we weren't importing the majority. We really should be spending our dollars on local suppliers so that they can survive, grow, and prosper.
  5. I am sympathetic to your plight as I was a care giver to my wife for a number of years. As you indicated a recent marriage I have to assume rightly or wrongly that you were aware that your wife had issues prior to taking the vows. I've always believed that one of the benefits of marriage is the commitment to look after each other in sickness and health. One of the biggest surprises I had following my wife's death, was when one of her sisters (A nurse in residential care) approached me and thanked me for staying the course, she had seen many patients abandoned. As for mental health issues I really don't feel qualified to advise. You really have to have respite for yourself now and then and hopefully you can recruit other family members of spell you. Sometimes if drug regimes are involved it can take a long time as it's fairly trial and error while they find the right cocktail. Good luck.
  6. Just checked into the new Delta in Toronto, great view with a corner on the 39th floor. Anyway off to the International Auto Show for the next few days to see all that is shiny and new in the world of cars.
  7. Just got a great deal at the new Delta in Toronto, off to see the International Auto show next weekend.
  8. I took in the new farmers market in the Aberdeen Pavilion at TD Place on Sunday. To night I tried a new side dish I picked up there, Kim Chi. I do my own sauerkraut and expected it to be similar, but it's not fermented and quite spicy. It was quite enjoyable.
  9. She's doing awfully well for a lady at her age. Each place in the ranking at this level becomes exponentially more difficult to achieve and I think will come her way as she gains in experience. Congrats also to Milos for his run.
  10. I've had a beard on my face for close to fifty years, and I wouldn't call it a Grizzly Adams. It is full but generally trimmed once a week. I expect I will take it to the grave. As for my genitals, I have taken to having the area shaved about one a month. The reasons, it just seems easier to be spotless when one is arranging a rendezvous, and second I've got the impression that the women prefer it that way.
  11. Cleaning out the freezer, found a nice piece of haddock. So, it's fish chowder tonight.
  12. Congrats dawg, treat yourself.
  13. Mine is paid, so let's see you others gents commit. It's so much easier on the organizers to run an event if they get the tickets sold early.

    Ribs on a BBQ

I am experimenting to find the best method, and at the moment I give them a dry rub and letting them sit in the fridge overnight. Then I ball up some tin foil to cover the bottom of my slow cooker, and then cook the ribs for 4-6 hours. Then it's slather them with sauce and a brief finish in the BBQ or in the convection oven.
  15. Ottawa has a fairly good selection of women in the industry, so generally I find the need to travel farther than the west end not necessary. Being retired I do travel and generally fit in some recreation when I am away, have several ladies in Toronto I will see.
  16. Last tight I took in "The Interview". It wasn't a great movie, but interesting. It's a should see though based on all the controversy and press it garnered.
  17. I use and like my Surface Pro 2, and would recommend it, although a little heavy. But if you go that route you have to be willing to learn the touch based command structure of Windows 8 to get the most out of it. As far as the Kobo goes, you have to remember that it was designed fundamentally as a reader, although that isn't the problem you have. I also have a 7" Google Nexus tablet made by Asus which works great. Designed for Google it has native Android, so a ton of good working aps, I particularily like the twitter rendition and the Kobo works really well, and it's cheap ($260 on Amazon)
  18. I read an article which trumpets the benefits for your teeth and gums. Now and then I swirl it around my mouth for three or four minutes, gargling. It does leave me with a sweet breath and a nice feel in the mouth.
  19. Sitting in the Honda dealers waiting for some repairs to be done, then off to TD place to renew my seasons tickets for the Red Blacks and Fury. While there might get a chance to look into the new whole foods store.
  20. Just got a notice from the CRA, they re-assessed last years return, surprise I owe them more money.
  21. I think everyone is trying to be politically correct, and the censorship engine is by the way it works creating problems. It blacks out or replaces words without being able to recognize legitimate context.
  22. Well this has been discussed many times here. You have to approach this from the perspective of our own risk tolerance. I personally think the whole issue has been over blown, and the risk is rather minimal. Nothing has really changed except some of the advertising restrictions which I'm sure the ladies will find work arounds. As far as policing, they haven't any additional instructions or budget to actually think about doing sting operations.
  23. Now that they have re-organized and refinanced they will probably try to buy some spectrum and expand their network. They will have to do that if they want to offer 4G, but that will take time.
