  1. I read a rather interesting article in the Globe and Mail on the e-cigarette phenomena. I know that there are members that use this alternative. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/health/doctors-raise-the-alarm-over-e-cigarettes/article14763867/ I am an ex-smoker, but in some ways think that those that still practice the habit are unfairly targeted. For me it's an unhealthy and dirty, and an addiction that can be conquered, but still one of choice. So read the article as it explains some of the pros and cons of this alternative.
  2. I don't think you have to worry, you obviously will be asked a few questions by the US border agent. If you answer honestly and without hesitating it's pretty painless. As suggested don't pack the tools of the trade although you shouldn't be searched unless you give him reason when he does the interview. As mentioned both the US and Canada don't conduct exit interviews, but I think there is entry data going back and forth between the two countries so that one of these days the two data bases will merge and they will have the information about both your entry and exit.
  3. I would do a little research before going and make arrangements ahead of time. I believe you might find a few traveling ladies here that would provide the references that would be advisable to use. I believe there is a very nice lady I see on twitter who is there, and through her followers you might find useful info. I don't think I would rely on ad sites like BP and lastly be careful and be sure who you're dealing with or keep it in your pants
  4. I've never heard of the term before, but would like to throw out a unique twist to the term. As most of you are aware, I lost my wife to cancer about eight years ago. In a way I am "monogamous at heart" to her memory. Having had a fairly decently successful 25 year marriage, I have probably found that I have not felt urgency to commit to another long term committed relationship, finding some solace in some of the relationships I've established with some of the women in this industry. And, who knows, I won't be terribly disappointed if I never stumble on that woman.
  5. I go for the smoked meat, noticed that Costco is offering a good Montreal style cut. Use a great sauerkraut and dill, both made by myself.
  6. My sympathies, I am going through a very similar problem and hope to get some answers when I see see the neurologist tomorrow. I don't think I'll be giving up this bit of recreation though.
  7. There aren't any rules for this sort of situation, however "tell him right away" NO. Develop the relationship first and when you are confident and able to trust the guy or girl, then it's time to confide in them. You laid out a number of options in your initial post, but omitted one. Could you give up the job if you became seriously involved and it was the only way to go forward.
  8. I would like to add my congratulations to the boys for a job well done. This event was one of the best we've had, and I think the great venue had a lot to do with it. One positive thing is that with each event I seem to be getting to know more and more members of the community.
  9. But I think you also have to account for your time lost traveling back and forth. Transportation fee + time traveling could be considerable so that you might have to add an additional hours to the fee to get full recovery.
  10. I'm in Salt Lake to see my grandson, so the PVR is a must. I'll have lots to catch up with BD and a number of other show when I get back.
  11. There was a great crime drama a few years ago called Intelligene. It had a very intricate plot and involve a Vancouver drug famiy, CSIS, and the FBI, It was a shame to see it cancelled after two seasons.
  12. It's rather simple, there are followers and followed. If you want to follow someone you ask to follow them, and they can accept them or not depending how they are set up. Most people allow this to happen aromatically. So if you have some one wanting to follow you, accept them or reject them.
  13. Well I maintain several account for different reasons. It's not so much about what I tweet but for me it's a chance to stay up to date about what's going on out in the world. You can follow any number of tweeteres on an endless variety of interests. There is no obligation for others to follow you or for you to make tweets. As an example, I keep up events in Ottawa, the media, BNN, just to name a few. I do also have a second account and follow some members of CERB, and some of the ladies. For you, there is no cost to opening an account and simply start to follow others, and when comfortable try a response. On my BB they have an app that I can switch back and forth between accounts.
  14. I guess they both have their place. It's been many years since I've used an agency, and back then it was the yellow pages and newspaper to do a search. If you're in a new location and unfamiliar with the lay of the land then it would make sense to use a reputable agency. But, when you're on home turf and with resources like CERB and EC then I think using an independent is the way to go. I guess I just feel better knowing it's her cash to use for her own expenses in a way she decides, rather giving a portion to the agency.
  15. I think that this sort of post should be placed in the warning section.
  16. I would agree with the general consensus. However, I don't think it's something that can always be expected and forthcoming. Many girls are reticent about the kissing for a number of reasons, health, and it is a very personal thing that they might reserve for their boyfriends or SOs. That said I do like kissing and cuddling and tend to go back and see the girls that are receptive.
  17. If not a disaster already, it's headed in that direction. I'll make two comments. One, and only you know the situation, look in the mirror and decide what you feel your obligation and costs to the wife and possibly family. You must have love her once. On the issue of the MP, maybe you should try the opposite strategy. Get out the cheque book and spend as much time with her as you can afford. You might find that it becomes a little too routine, and the flame might die. It's like drinking, too much and you get a hang over.
  18. My fav didn't make the list so I went for the mint-chocolate-chip, and thought it was pretty accurate. My all time best is either black cherry ice cream or frozen yogurt
  19. Good of RG to point this problem out, but it seems to me that it should remind us all to take great care with our security. Today passwords are used for so many things and across multiple platforms, one has to have a well thought out plan. I personally use three different levels, the first is low level and I can use it for multiple accounts, no real problem because their is no personal data to be gleaned here. The second mid level where I have a few passwords which I use some simple variations to access various services. The third is what I would refer to as secure and I select these carefully (bank account, credit cards) and try to use all the tricks, upper and lower case, alpha numeric, and lengthy passwords. The problem is of course that my memory isn't what it used to be, so I use a password vault for storage. First I have a good strong password to access it, and then it's designed to destroy the information if more than three invalid attempts to access it are made. I can always recover it from a backup which is keep away from the computer and not accessible offline.
  20. Just wanted to welcome Angela back to the board. She's been a fixture here for many years, over 8000 posts and put a lot of time helping organize the Ottawa socials.
  21. Back to the real issue though, BP will continue to survive with it's ads only until the pressure gets to high in the States and they have to limit these ads down there. Our police and politicians really don't have the juice to change BP's policies in Canada.
  22. I'm with you on this as I have the Z10. The Q5 I believe is available on Aug 11th in Canada. It is a great way to get an entry level phone with the new BB10 OS, but at a considerable discount, and they are well known for their keyboard. The other knock is the supply of apps, but this is no longer an issue with many of the Android apps becoming available on this platform.
  23. I second your appreciation of Katerine and Penelopes efforts by stepping into the breach and seeing that the event was a success. It was small but a nice intimate event and it was nice to meet some old acquaintances.
  24. I don't think it's a subject that's off limits. I am like your dad, fairly good with money but at times carefree. I have some quite high limits on a number of credit cards, and so have to practice discipline. I do like my toys, and spend cyclically. I don't particularity like debt so tend to take time to pay my balances before I spend again. I like the doctor automatically saved at least 10% of my income over my work life, which wasn't missed once I got used to it, and it is definitely enabling me to live comfortably in retirement. I highly recommend saving a portion of your income because relying on a government pension down the road is not going to be enough. That time also coming a lot sooner than you think.
