  1. I started when I did my basic training when I was at University. We would sit around on the grass after doing drill, and it just seemed to be the thing to do. I made many tries over the years, just about ever way I could think of, and I eventually was doing a pack and a half non filtered at my peak. It was physically taking it's toll. I guess you know you're overdoing it when you're checking to see if you can get in another one before coffee break is up. It finally came down to an incentive and the will to go cold turkey. I was driving home from the maternity hospital with a two day old son strapped in the back seat. Without thinking I reached into my breast pocket for a fag, looked at it, and threw the pack out the window. I have tried a couple of smokes since then but found that once I had regained my smell and taste it was pretty awful. I do have sympathy for smokers when I drive by a hospital in winter and see one dragging around an IV out in a shelter by the street. They really are becoming second class citizens.
  2. I've been around for quite a long time and can't ever remember being asked for a reference, and I've enjoyed the company of some great women. I think part of the reason is my approach, as I generally write a fairly open and detailed message to the ladies I want to meet, so there aren't any surprises or misunderstandings. Couple that with a chance to take a look at my posts and a chat before meeting, it has just never been necessary. If I had been asked I'm sure I could give the names of a few ladies that would have no trouble supplying the reference, even without their prior agreement. I guess that does raise the question as to whether one should give a reference without the prior approval of the provider.
  3. I hadn't realized that the friends list worked in both directions, nice to know, always learning new things about this site. I'm not really suggesting any additional changes. In the About Me section the gentleman could simply past a CERB link to a ladies profile who he has permission to provide as a reference. There is a field called "Recommendation or URL of a page that is important to me here on cerb" The onus is on the client to keeps the references current.
  4. Hey Peachy, great topic. WIT's idea has some merit but I don't see it as practical for several reasons. One you have to be a friend on a specific ladies profile, so some sort of list would possibly have to be maintained to refer those who are part of the program. When setting up an appointment there would still have to be a dialog, need a reference, go so and so profile. I think it makes more sense to some how have the feature available through the gentleman's profile. If it's to be reliable I would like to be able to sets a references field myself with the permission of the lady. It maybe simply having a field to paste a link to the ladies profile who would provide the reference. It is secure because only the gentleman can edit his own profile. You only have to go to the client profile to see if he has references. So, it's just an initial thought, and it will be interesting to see what other ideas surface.
  5. Happy birthday, the years sure don't seem to show.
  6. I was always planning a trip to Halifax, and still haven't taken the date off my calendar. So, I expect you will not have to raise a glass by yourself. I'd venture there would be pretty fair turn out.
  7. I vote for the daytime. I'm getting a little long in the tooth, and as I understand a man's testosterone levels are highest in the morning and decline during the day, I vote for the morning. A shower and sex, what a great way to get a good start to the day. As far as location, we need a few more ladies in the west end, but I do agree with Carries comments. Somewhere around Pinecrest, or Carlingwood gives you the chance to get customers from downtown, Barrhaven and Kanata.
  8. I agree with the last three posts, starting at a spa gives her a chance to settle in and get comfortable with her move. Also get to figure out the differences between Ottawa and West. If it doesn't work out she hasn't made any investment. Later once she's established a reputation and some regular clientele then go independent. Sure there are many more things she will have to take responsibility for but will be able to set her schedule a little more to her liking.
  9. Sorry to hear of your decision. I suspect that there won't be a social any time soon if members couldn't give you the trust and respect for all the hard work you did on this project. If done properly I think it's relatively low risk and maybe it would be a good idea to have a followup discussion about what was perceived as a risk. As for my money, it is a relatively small amount so have a pint on me or give it to a charity, your choice. Good luck.
  10. I got a chuckle from an article in this mornings Globe. On this long weekend it's what Victoria might have thought of this controversial exhibit. It's already shown successfully in several major cities in Canada without the righteous indignation of the narrow minded. Does it really make sense to let our kids learn about sex from their peers, and not have some adult guidance. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/arts/elizabeth-renzetti/o-canada-you-retain-the-modesty-so-wrongly-associated-with-my-name/article2437827/
  11. It always amazes me that you still have to post a thread like this, and seems to me that there should be some form of censure if they can be identified as members here.
  12. I don't think there's any best way, use your judgement. I personally like to have a chat on the phone with them the first time. Most are pretty good judges of character, so they get a chance to pulse you out. Also it may be a chance to let each know what is expected and avoid disappointments if things don't go as expected.
  13. It's not really an easy question. You have to remember that this is a marketing tool, and as such an ad might be quite different depending on where you choose to advertise. There are two things you have to think about before you put pen to paper or finger to keyboard. What are you offering and who is your target client. The price you charge or the time periods you are offering will greatly affect the number of appointments and the type of client you attract. But back to your question, the first thing that gets me to take a look at many of the ads is the catch phrase that appears in the index. The first thing you have to do is peak the readers interest to get him to click through to the ad. That's where you can start to use a little creativity.
  14. It seems it's just a matter of them being comfortable with you's. As I try to become fairly regular with some ladies and am fairly open with my own situation, they don't seem to mind chatting about the business.
  15. In all honesty after a while I don't even see them. I for one rely on the profile as a starting point, so it's really important to make it effective, a good album for instance. I don't tend to place a lot of importance on the recos, although a thoughtful one by a member whose judgement I think is sound, may help. But one of the important aspects is they have a bit of history, and one aspect is their postings. The last thing that can seal the deal is the way they communicate. That can start though chatting by PMs and lead to a phone conversation. This last one ensures that both parties are in tune when they get together, no misunderstandings about what to expect when getting together. You should understand that generally I'm not looking for a quikie, but for ladies I might want to repeat with.
  16. I think you have to get a sense of what the other party intends, friends request obviously shows a level of interest, while a look at your profile maybe just that. Remember that if you PM you are really only going to get in trouble if the recipient is put off and generates an abuse report, so just tread carefully, and word your PM's discretely.
  17. Always a good time at the Dog's, has a great nose for some good wine. Finally got to meet and see Katerine, and catch up with Mr Nice. Keep your eye on the white line, drive safe. Hope to see you both in Halifax next month. Looking forward to the next party.
  18. I'm in agreement with the sentiment expressed here. I have been to most of the Ottawa socials and intend to be in Halifax for this one. The difference between the two is that Ottawa evolved from smaller events and the various organizers learned as they grew. I think it really was necessary to have some one take the initiative like Taloon has done or it wouldn't have happened. It's a lot of work. It's good to see DL and OF meet with Taloon and post there seal of approval.
  19. The idea of using tags is a novel idea, don't really see making the site any more complex. I really don't see the need to differentiate by location or type of service. If I am thinking about seeing a particular provider there's a lot more than a reco that makes my decision. The reputation of the reco poster is so important and the chat with the lady before making the appointment. If I'm interested I will go find the information.
  20. I suspect that Taloon is doing this on his own. I think it's just a matter of him taking the bull by the horns and running with it. It's a lot of hard work to do an event of this size. Many point to the Ottawa experience with socials, but one has to remember that there were quite a few here and that some of the early ones were quite small and we learned as they evolved in time. I remember going to one of the first at the Honest Lawyer where there might have been 7-8 people. I would suggest that one of the ladies contact Taloon and give him a little bit of a hand. I think this would be beneficial as she could be a liaison with the ladies who are considering attending. One other point. Who is invited is really under control of the organizer. CERB is the place where information is passed on, and as a way to communicate but at the end of the day is not the sponsor, and has no responsibility for the event. So if you have any concerns go to him and help him out.
  21. I would recommend, I think a good massage with an SP with good massage skills is the best of both worlds.
  22. There's an interesting lawsuit been launched in California. There are a number of links to the story, so I've put up one of them. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/30/henry-wolf-lawsuit_n_1465033.html I can think of a far nicer ride that has the opposite effect.
  23. I'm in Ottawa and expecting to see the super moon in about an hour, copied from the CBC web site. The perigee and the full moon occur within a minute of each other Saturday night (at about 11:35 p.m. ET), and the moon will seem as much as 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than other full moons this year, NASA says. Go outside and take a look, doesn't happen too often,
  24. I don't think there's any reason you can't pay your taxes on this trade as you put it. Prostitution is not illegal so if you declare as an adult entertainer I think there is no problem. It's probably a bigger problem for you if you don't pay and are caught. I'm sure there a ladies here that do so, and I'm sure will be happy to give you some advice on the ins and outs. It's got advantages in that you can get a chance to probably make some write offs and can contribute to an RRSP. Also, your records with Revenue Canada are totally confidential.
