  1. Fully agree with that sentiment, hope that many of the people that used to show up come back and make it a success, so spread the word, that means reserving a spot early. I remember I think it was the Courtyard we sponsored a Christmas gift collection, was very successful.
  2. Good luck, think your entreaty falling on deaf ears. https://www.lyla.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=223427
  3. Put the slow cooker to work today, did some yummy baby back ribs. they were left overnite to marinate with a dry rub.
  4. Going up Hwy 7 in a couple of weeks and curious about Trish Private Dancer. You can pm if you like or comment here.
  5. Last week I had my flu shot for another year, and my doctor is updating all my vaccinations. We are involved in a very personal activity, so I would highly encourage all to get out and be vaccinated, simply if for no other reason that it's costly to have to take time off.
  6. With Mr Trudeau's pledge I think that part of the debate is over, the train has left the station. What is left to debate how the law is to be structured and implemented i.e. age restrictions, taxation. Will it be a federal excise tax like cigarettes, or through provincially regulation similar to booze.
  7. I think this a great result, and gives him a chance to do some things that would have been troublesome with a minority. Remember that it will still take several weeks to transition. He has great resources, so I believe he will have a strong cabinet to rely on. I would hope to see progress in a shorter time span, say a year. Of interest is your list has many items that are dependent on provincial support, and I do expect him to be far more open to dealing with the provincial premiers. Also certain items will be priorities. Some items for your list. -dealing with the senate -repairing the relations with the public service -giving our vets a fair shake -changes in the foreign policy -restoring immigration and refugee fairness -give the navy some new ships -undo some of Harpers damage created by law and order agenda -show some respect to the supreme court
  8. Give it some thought, maybe you're going about it the wrong way.
  9. You can always call and ask to speak to Jasmin. Tell her your situation and preferences and I'm sure she would recommend a few ladies for you, after all she wants you as a happy client who will return on a regular basis.
  10. I believe Amazon is piloting a grocery delivery in Toronto with a two hour time.
  11. If it''s a matter of getting out there, I can probably give a few lifts from downtown to the west. Just send me a PM if you need a ride.
  12. Maybe it's time to think about going back to a smaller, cosier, central location. No need to cater or buy a lot of gifts, my recollection at one time the gents would donate some gifts. Maybe use this location for a special event like an annual Xmas party.
  13. I keep my ear to the ground throughout the year. I note it when one of my giftees says something like, " I like that " or "That's neat" so I've pretty know what I'm going to buy, so timing isn't really an issue. One thing I do leave to the end of the year is a contribution to my grandson's education account.
  14. I will make a few points, in no particular order to illustrate there are many ways to provide for retirement. I was downsized by a firm in 2000 and for various reasons never returned full time to the workforce. With the passing of my wife I officially considered myself retired. We always thought we would have a combined income in retirement, not to be. One decision I made during the nineties was to convert to a defined contribution from a defined benefit plan and control my own destiny. I have all my life invested 10 percent of my income in a stock savings plan. I have a reasonably sizable investment portfolio, so able to adjust my income every 5 years. I still max my TFSA. With longer life spans, I still invest in a less conventional strategy for my age, I'm 60% equity and only 40 fixed. The last thing I'm doing even though I live alone, is to maintain my home, which can be sold to provide an income at a layer date.
  15. In Ontario it could be expensive now as it might be considered distracted driving. LOL
  16. You should give CMJ a try, tell them what you want and you should have lots of choice.
  17. Something I hadn't had in a long time, I was at the Carp farmers market and bought a steak and kidney pie. It was good.
  18. Found a flank steak while cleaning out the freezer, so all cut up and marinating to make a beef jerky.
  19. I think its a bit of a hoot, ironic that the taxi driver is hiring them for a ride just so he can film them. I think that John Tory has the right idea, you can't stop the advance of technology, so lets sit down and have a rational conversation with all the participants and come up with some new rules which can accommodate everyone involved in the industry. The share economy is here to stay. Lots of regulations stymie progress and are expensive which leads to high prices.
  20. Even with cabinet ministers regaining status and influence, there is the problem that the idea that they actually take responsibility for their and their departments decisions. At one time the buck stopped at their door, but now they find many ways to excuse their actions and find convenient scapegoats. I remember a number of years ago when the Honorable Member for Hamilton, resigned on a matter of principal and got reelected bases on her governments reversal of policy on the GST. It would be nice to have some Cabinet ministers with a spine.
  21. This not a common option in Canada but doable. My son is in the middle east and uses a dual sim card phone, so that both numbers are supported on the same phone. I would go to the major carriers and ask them if they can recommend a phone compatible with their network even if you have to buy it from another source. The attraction for them is that they get to sell you two numbers.
  22. Happy Birthday, may the sun shine in PEI today. You are a well respected member, always look forward to your posts.
  23. Thanks, saw the same Tweet. I checked and am on the list. I do think that you are right to shine a light on this issue. One way would be to enlist the aid of the candidates for either the Liberal or NDP and if they start to see a pattern they can actually bring it forth as an issue during the campaign.
  24. She has another job but at this time she occasionally has a day when she is available to take care of some of her regulars. You can always contact her via PM.
  25. I think one way to influence the outcome is to make a political contribution, and I intend to send one to the Liberal party. Money is the conservative edge so if we really want change donate to the other parties. As for Harper, he inherited surpluses, and managed to run 8 consecutive deficits and add 150 billion to the debt, say is that fiscally responsibility. He came to power on a platform of transparency and accountability, that idea sure disappeared pretty quickly. He did keep his law and order agenda, he keep that promise and more, Boo. My cursory take is that Justin is far more aligned with my values, a more central socially responsible outlook. As for being ready, there are many experienced liberals out side those being elected, who will be there to advise. As for the NDP, they have some laudable ideas, but I would be afraid of the price tag, and the same is he ready applies. If the PM forms a minority, I think there might be some merit in the idea of a coalition of the NDP and Liberal to defeat him and form a government. Lots to chew on, remember to donate and level the playing field.
