Welcome to the board! Wish I'd had the good sense to ask these kind of questions when I started....for me it was all trial and error lol

The US Navy enters the 21st Century.
castle replied to thedriver's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I was just wondering the same thing......in my experience, among predominantly male professions, lesbians will tend to be a lot more accepted than gay men. It's an achievement for gays everywhere nonetheless. And makes me smile to see it :) -
Kind of a random question and a very different tone than the other posts in this thread.....but hey....this IS an unhijackeable thread of randomness right? :) I am not a particularly religious person and have no real beliefs in either God or The Devil of any sort, catholic or otherwise.....so why then do exorcism related movies always scare the living poop (not literally :p ) right out of me?! I don't scare easy when it comes to movies.......but I can't watch The Exorcist at night.....just can't do it. And this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyT7xMPurgw, looks absolutely terrifying! (DON'T watch this trailer if you scare easily or get religiously offended easily). I mean if I don't believe in this stuff, why would it be any different than watching any other horror movie with a fictional monster. What makes exorcism movies so scary? Just something I've always wondered about.

past experience that shape our character
castle replied to shymale's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Past experiences most definitely shape who we are...there's no doubt about that. Now whether we let unpleasant experiences shape us in a negative way, or whether we learn from them and grow as a result, that's up to us. I'm afraid to say that I went the negative route.. Growing up I had friends, quite a few friends, and they were all the "beautiful people"....the magazine cover kind of people. Especially as a teenager....I was your stereotypical tall, ridiculously skinny, greasy haired, always dressed in black, acne covered, shy outsider...I did have friends but they were the muscle bound, sparkly teeth, flowing hair, clear skinned heart throbs...same goes for the female friends I had. So of course because of who I surrounded myself with I grew up shy when it comes to women...I didn't think I measured up. I still don't. I don't blame my friends, they were great friends and never once made me feel any less because I wasn't as "beautiful" as them. And actually kept insisting that I was attractive and that I should have more confidence. I chose to make myself feel inferior, I don't think it was a conscious decision...but it was still a decision on my part. Like Shymale there was probably a defining moment that started to make me feel this way....some sort of rejection.....or some derogatory comment... but I honestly can't remember. Either way it was my choice to feel like this. And I'm still the same way today....It's virtually impossible for me to ask a girl out....even when I'm getting all the signals and I KNOW I'm getting all the signals......I still can't bring myself to do it. Part of me still feels that I don't measure up. I know that's silly and completely untrue.....my current friends (a few of who are still the "beautiful people") have been really good at trying to boost my ego and keep insisting I'm attractive. And part of me knows they're right.....but now instead of being skinny I'm sporting a few extra pounds...and I feel that unless I have the rock hard six pack ab figure that no one will be interested in me. I KNOW that's a completely false, and maybe even dangerous, attitude to have....but I can't help it. I still feel that way. It's really fucked up because I've been with SP's who I know were attracted to me and were having just as good a time as I was....and recently. I've been in this hobby long enough that I think I can tell the difference when a SP is just going through the motions and telling me I'm hot/handsome and I turn her on, etc....and when she actually means it. So I know that beautiful women can find me attractive. I know that. But there's still this fucked up mental block when it comes to asking a woman out in the "real" world. And so I don't ask anyone out. At least no one I'm attracted to. And I refuse to ask someone out just for the sake of asking them out if I'm not attracted to them. I'm not shy with women per se...I can converse with them fine and interact with them fine, I can become friends with women, no problem...but actually taking that next step and asking them out? Nope, not gonna happen. The only girlfriends I've had, they've made the first move. I'm ok if a girl asks me out.....but that almost never happens....it seems to me that as much as our culture has progressed as far as equal rights for the sexes go, that women still expect the man to make the first move and ask her out. Which seems to me kind of a backwards attitude to have. In every other way roles for the sexes have flipped around 360 degrees. I have friends where the woman goes to work and the man stays home with the kids all day and is the homemaker, cleaning, having dinner ready for her when she gets home, etc. We have women now dominating men inside and outside of the bedroom.....almost all my bosses have been women.......which don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome and I truly believe women have earned those rights.....but we still have to ask them out.....they won't ask us out even if they really want to. At least not in my experience. Men have to make the first move in the courting process. That's just the way it is. Period. In that one aspect it's like we're still living in the 50's. I just don't get it. -

How do you feel about bdsm?
castle replied to Malika Fantasy's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I'm curious about just about anything sexual.....that doesn't mean I'd be down for anything....but I don't mind hearing about it even if it's something I'm not into. Malika I've met you and I can vouch for the fact that you're a strong, mature, intelligent woman who is very capable of making her own decisions based on what she likes. I don't think anyone here (or anyone period) is in a position to judge what someone else's sexual preferences are. -

If you're looking for a nice relaxing place to just relax, chill and look at some lovely nekkid ladies today......then by all means AVOID Pigales today! The place is a madhouse! I just walked in and walked right back out again. People are standing in the isles...I'm not kidding. There isn't a spare seat in the place...and it's only 1:30pm! I'm taking it as a sign from up high that instead of getting my jollies I should probably start my Christmas shopping today :p Posted via Mobile Device

Cinematic Geekfest Of 2012

I always thought Crispin Glover would have made an awesome joker. When they were in the early stages of casting The Dark Knight he was one of the actors considered....or so I heard. I was disappointed they didn't pick him. -

No I didn't think they would. But I can tell that this planet's supposed to be the same one where Ripley's crew picks up the alien in the first film. I have a feeling this crew will be the source of the distress call that the Nostromo picks up. -

On the topic of Prometheus....does anyone else think this is the prequel to Alien that Ridley Scott has been talking about doing for a while now? It sure as hell looks like it....just saw the trailer and I gotta say a lot of the imagery looks reaaaaaally familiar! -
Uh oh......no toilet?? That's baaaaaaaaad news! :p

If you like Year One you should check out Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's follow ups to that The Long Halloween which is a really interesting "who done it" kinda story. And Dark Victory which is Robin's origin story but told in a very serious and interesting way. I just recently read Paying For It which was really interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out foor Rent Girl! And if you're looking for a copy of The Crow I'm pretty sure Silver Snail on Bank st has one that I've been eyeballing myself because my copy's pretty worn down. And I think Chapters on Rideau has one too. And for the Stephen King/Dark Tower fans out there Marvel's Dark Tower series is really interesting. Additional Comments: A few I want to read are From Hell, Road to Perdition, Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns and Dark Knight Strikes Again, I also want to finish off the Sin City series . I've only read Yellow Bastard so far. For the Garth Ennis fans I would recommend Punisher: Welcome Back Frank. It's twisted good fun. Posted via Mobile Device

Cinematic Geekfest Of 2012
castle replied to castle's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
That's exactly what I've been saying to anyone who goes on and on about that movie! It's the whole Brandon Lee thing all over again. I love The Crow as a movie....but it's a pretty poor adaptation of the graphic novel which is SO much better than the movie IMO....but of course everyone criticizes the idea of doing a proper adaptation of it because of the whole Brandon Lee thing......he was great in that movie....but no better than any other number of actors could have been. Or still could be. Him dying while making the movie doesn't change that. -

Yeesh!! I'm sure you were much cuter than that in whatever photo your Dad's talking about! ;) But they promise that Arnie and Bruce will have a more extensive roles in this one! Not just cameos! And Dolph's back too...I'm totally psyched :p And yes, I TOTALLY agree with you about the Tim Burton Batman movies. Heath Ledger's Joker totally wasn't clown-ish enough, The Batmobile in the new movies doesn't look at all Bat-ish....it just looks like a tank....and the new Catwoman for this new movie doesn't look cat like at all. Plus the Tim Burton Batman movies were just plain fun and still took themselves seriously....but not too seriously. Not to mention Christopher Walken....pretty much any movie featuring Christopher Walken is a win in my books. -
Congrats Emma! Very well deserved! :)

Puppies,puppies Puppies

I can't wait until I get a place big enough that I can get a french mastiff! I fell in love with this breed of dog the instant I saw this classic scene from that cinematic masterpiece....Turner and Hooch :p And of course....this scene (for the puppy lovers) It'll probably have to wait until I retire though. A long ways off :( Apparently they're headstrong so training them requires a lot of time and patience...two things I don't have right now lol. And yes....I'm going to name him Hooch....yes, it's cheesy and predictable....like naming a Boxer "Rocky"....but how can I not name him Hooch? :D
