Okay CERBites TIME IS UP! I did once hear the late, great Kate McGarrigle singing loudly and beautifully to her her infant daughter Martha Wainwright in one of the Montreal Peel St. metro station entrances. Everyone was cool about it as they usually are about celebs in Montreal. It was real and spectacular!

I agree. The original MSN article is intellectual dreck! Just a chance for the MSN "author" to broadcast loudly his or her cultural prejudices -- without any redeeming social value. These type of "articles" on MSN and elsewhere are far too common. Yuck!

Overall, I would have to go with Swedish with those dark vowels adding to the mystery. As for French accents, I would pick the Strasbourg accent with its little trills decorating the sound landscape.

I like Old Dog for not being afraid of controversial pronunciations. But maybe my judgement has been discombobulated by my excitement in hearing Peter Mansbridge actually pronounce "bilingual" correctly at least once without trying trying to pronounce the silent "u"!
