The prescription drug Imovane/Zopiclone has relatively few side-effects and shouldn't leave you excessively drowsy in the morning. It was prescribed for me when I was in a rather busy acute-care ward in the hospital. It is for only short term or occasional sleep problems, but it can be very useful in those situations. When I was 7 or 8 I had to kneel down next to the bed and say my prayers (maybe it was a whole rosary) before getting into bed.
