In my early 30's I spent the better part of a year alone. I worked and interacted but socially I mostly retreated. I had become a cynical smart ass and unintentionally hurt some one feelings with a quip. I was shocked and it made me feel horrible so I kind of disappeared. I spent time reading, sitting in front of the fire, listening to records (I'm old) and over time took a hard look at myself and didn't like what I saw so I used the time to think and reflect on the kind of person I wanted to be and slowly I did figure some of it out. When I emerged I was a much happier positive person, a little quieter, became a good listener and I was more confident. I was asked all the time what was different, had I lost weight, changed my hair or wardrobe. I had no real answer but it seemed I was exuding something and people were drawn to it. A few were a little uncomfortable because I was different and had escaped my box but they too eventually came around. I look back at my alone time with great fondness as it changed my path and I'm so very grateful. Peace MG

It could still be Mel Lastman so there's that. I think all cities could use new, youngish and fresh faces like Naheed Nenshi of Calgary. Here in Winnipeg the current Mayor and particularly City Councilors have stayed at the dance way too long. We have a chance to change it next fall. The challenge is to attract good candidates and with the increased scrutiny hardly any one hasn't done something that would be exposed. I'm a half hour/ 45 minute booker and a non f/s player and I wouldn't describe it as cum and run. It does make me cognizant of the time and in my case there's still seems to be plenty of time to interact and chat. Truth be told I'm often more aware of time than my partner and it's me with my hand on the door when it's time to go. One of the challenges has been that for whatever reason people like to talk to me about them. I'm genuinely interested in what some one has to say about pretty much anything and perhaps not everyone in their life is interested. So a warm, non judging, experienced individual with a friendly face and no real agenda.....feels pretty safe. You can still get a lot done is 45 minutes :) Peace MG

I've never been asked for a SP's contact information. If some one asks anything it's about menu, performance or my experience with a specific SP. If I know there is an ad, I'll send them to the ad for contact info. Newbies get zero information, veterans get some information but it's always couched with a YMMV. Peace MG
