Might I suggest open office.org. It's a freeware software package based on java which is very similar to MS Office. But it's free. I can say it's a bit clunkier than MS Office due to being Java based; however, it was pretty simple to use.

Folks, I'm looking for some opinions about switching over from the PC/Windows to Mac platform. Questions: 1) Any major complaints/frustrations you've encountered with respect to setting up network connections, sharing hardware across multiple platforms (win7, and vista) 2) Any quirks about the system one should know about? I'm looking at the Macbook Pro 15" 2.8Ghz I7. I'd prefer the 17"; however, the price difference is a little much for what I'd be getting. Also, having experience with a 17" notebook previous it's a bit of a pain to carry about. Regards,

Since someone spanked me at the event saying I don't post nearly enough I thought I'd make this my mini-debut. Many thanks to ottanon and angela for hosting a wonderful event. What most surprised me is just how open and warm just about everyone seems to be. It was fantastic meeting everyone and getting a chance to chat a bit. Best wishes to all!

Firstly, I don't disagree that an individual should have the right to decide. At first thought though, I have little problem with respect to testing for STD/I; however, (IMO) the right to decide about what immunizations, etc.. should be up to the individual. As an example I disagree with a mandatory requirement for health care workers to receive shots. Though, I do support the right of the employer to find better suited work for the individual if they do decide to refuse. Reducing the risk to both employee and patients. I have to wonder about two points raised in objection to a mandatory testing for sex workers. Let me begin by saying I haven't the foggiest clue how this will unfold. Yet, I would suspect that brothels would become legally mandatory work environs in order to provide for a safe and controllable area. As such anyone employed there-in would require testing presumably under a health and safety program. Additionally, I find the comments about public perception interesting. I simply do not understand the logic used behind statements that mandatory STD/I testing strengthens negative public perception about the sex industry. I suppose without concrete data to draw upon I have a hard time accepting arguments from either end of the spectrum on this point. I would suggest that perhaps if there is a significant amount of negative public perception, public awareness and educational programs would be required. There are numerous sexual activities that I can think of which required public education, or perhaps, in your face media attention before being reduced to common place. I will agree that we are a fickle lot when it comes to the general public and all things sexual. At least in North America it seems that way. Just an FYI, I recall a news article some time back indicating that the do not call list applied to only Canadian companies. It did nothing to protect you from companies out side of Canada.

Berlin, I understand the point you are making; however, I would ask is it better to incarcerate a person a small cell for the remainder of their life? Is it any better than death for one's sanity. (And I admit that I am in no way educated enough to answer this myself). I used to share the exact same view. One shouldn't kill period. But if there is sufficient non refuted evidence that someone has done a heinous crime why should they be imprisoned for life and taken care of by the community they wronged. (not a strong enough word, but I can't think of a better one). I suppose I haven't come up with a good explaination for the term punishment. It may be mistaken, but the impression I get is a white collar criminal stealing money can be punished more severly than a rapist or murderer. Something doesn't seemed balanced to me.

I typically find rather high mileage at the playmate. I don't frequent during the day time; however, do try to go on a tuesday or wednesday evening. I have suffered a similar issue with my computer. It was crashing and giving me the BSOD. In my case I had to open the case up and give it a good dusting. More specifically the video card heat sink has a habit of getting plugged with dust. Once I dusted it out with a can of compressed air it started to run as per normal. Another item to be aware of is a little bug with FireFox. I have noticed on surfing web sites with video links the software does not appear to close properly. As such I have to do a control+alt+del to start the task manager, click processes tab, find the process called "firefox" (you can sort by name by click on "Image Name" or similar [i'm on a server 2008 system]). Once you find the process, and you've closed fire fox application you can select the process and press the "end process" button. According to my research this is a well known bug, with no resolution in site.

I have a Dell 24" widescreen, the model eludes me at this time. I can only say i wouldn't give this baby up for anything.
