For years My family has had cottages and chaletes in Quebec, I spent tons of time in Gatineau park and on both the Gatineau and Ottawa rivers and lakes like McGregor lake. Sometimes venturing to in-laws places at Mount Trembleant or dirty weekends at Chateau Montebello. Quebec has been a play place for me and my family for generations. Take a walk through Mackenzie King estates if you want to feel the history of the area. Recently I took the plunge, the kids have grown up and moved out, my big house in the Alta-Vista area was getting to huge to keep clean, and I have upped and moved to the cottage. I am an anglophone, can't speak french if my life depended on it. In my area it has not been an issue and there are many other anglophones, and francophone's are very patient. I don't think the tax thing will be a big deal as I own an Ontario corporation. (anyone concerned with taxes will be able to follow the implications) and my wife does not work. Everyday I wake up and feel like I am in the country, I am sitting on 10 acres of wooded hillside running down into the Gatineau river. I get in my car drive for 30 seconds and bam I get a spectacular view of the city, 8 minutes later I am in the market. I am about 7 or 8 minutes away from Gatnieau park and Camp Fortune, 4-5 minutes from the Casino or from Le Nordic Spa. I just can't picture it being any better. Oh ya and the house was half the price of a box in Orleans or kanata. You can take a zero off waterfront on the Ottawa side and guess what I paid for my piece of heaven :) The irony is that I am within a 10th of a kilometer the same distance to down town as my old place in Ottawa that everyone thought was so "central" now my friends and family are alwasy carfeul to qualify any invitations with "if you can make the drive in" I just smile, the best part is they don't want to "drop in and visit" anymore. Well accept for my Daughter who now thinks this is her new "base camp" for weekend fun, I make her pitch a tent !! At the end of the day places like Aylmer are far away! they are after all across the river from Britannia beach, Point Gatineau is the end of the earth being across from Orleans, Chelsea is as far out of Down Town as Westborough, and Campfortune is as far north as Hunt Club is south. So unless you are packing an overnight bag best to avoid the Quebec side. AH ya and I forgot to mention with only 5 bridges and 2 ferries access is limited!

Had some fun in the 90's with a few of the ladies they used to tour the feature circuit through Toronoto, one very memorable night with Debbie Diamond as the 5th :). And had a great time with Jane Jones on a few occasions, not really sure if she qualifies as a porn start she had the tiger and the snake. I think if I ever save up enough to do a vacation it will be to were ever Belladonna is and away I will go :)

As I look at this poll I think the subject is rather insignificant, less than 100 responses. I guess I was making a mountain out of a moll hill, like any Hobby we accept the risks. And if we were dropping off like flies do to these issues there would be a lot less of us around.

I thought about that last spring when the issue was first used to separate me from some of my favorites. However it is kind of like my kids at head lice (if you have kids you have probably had to deal with it) if one kid in the class does not get it looked after they just keep reoccurring. If indeed STD/STI spread that easily and there infected among us we would all have these nasty infections.

This poll seems to follow suit with the information I get when I go to the clinic, a very small percentage of the populations is getting infected. Lets face it if 30% of people were getting infected than 100% of us would have some calls from the clinic or friends. Yes they exist yes we must be vigilant, is it a serious issues with the hobby, clearly not. Can someone make it through life without ever getting an STD/STI it looks very likely. It is easy to make this same argument about anything, the most repressive place I have ever been is a strip club, the amount of drugs in the change room is shocking and the amount of ladies strutting around the floor looking for rent is scary. Plus there is often 10 guys for every lady in the strip clubs, many of the guys are buying the ladies drinks hoping to get some drunk shenanigans. Are there exceptions? Are there dancers that don't do drugs and have there crap together and enjoy what they do, of course but if you are in the club you are accepting the ones that are on drugs/drunk and trying to make rent too, and saying that the other guys putting down the ladies are acceptable to you. At least with an escort situation if the lady is not in control because of drugs or alcohol, or seems distressed you can cancel the call (and she can as well). The whole notion of equal numbers? lets look at a baseball game or cricket game? Is the batter being picked on, are they being dominated? I do know some guys that like to Poly with an equal number of guys to girls more like an orgy style, but that is because they don't like waiting and watching. You were not hijacking the thread at all, infact after I posted I thought I may have inadvertently pointed a finger at you, this type of behavior is another example of the harassment that SP's face on an ongoing basis. (the calls from dummies that don't know if they have an STD but want you to get checked) As for my thing about STD/STI's it is just that this is one of the things that people keep blowing out of proportion, it is one of the classic ways that people try to manipulate others in and around the business. Last spring someone told some of the SP's that I was seeing that I had a disease and they should stay away, this rumor pissed me off. Now I suspect another member is telling the ladies that the dangers are very real and they should avoid being an SP because of it. I believe the best way to confront this is with information, I am not obsessed with STD/STI's I am obsessed with people blowing them out of proportion! At the same time if I pipe in and say that it is not a huge concern than I am the bad guy for downplaying the risk?? It's a lose lose situation however I am hoping with enough real world information we can dispel the myths that "30% of the population has an STD". When I do my online research I find a lot of the really scary sites are sponsored by born again christian organizations in the southern states or using data from underdeveloped countries in Africa etc... I was originally thinking the question would for the "the call" from someone who tested positive, however I have heard and seen many people do the "oh they got tested and are fine" and therefore assume they are fine. This is not good enough you should have your own regime and stick to it. As for the original poll question I do mean the number of legitimate calls with the caller having a confirmed case.

In the porn business at least in California the "actors" must have clean test results no older than 90 days. This seems to keep issues to a minimum.

Annessa is correct, also the police don't care if you are an escort as some ladies here can attest to (they have asked for police assistance and recieved cooperation), the only people that will have issue are revenue Canada however as long as you declare some income they don't care either, you can even declare as an Escort.

I am wondering how many of you have had "the call" from a friend or local health agency telling you that they have had an STD and you should get yourself checked? As we know "no one" around here has ever had an STD (I think there is some truth to this but it does wonder about all those that stay silent or some lying) This is an easier question and will give a good gauge to prevalence.

How many people do you know? It is an interesting question, I have been more sexually active than most and I have had "the call" three times in my life. The one were someone contacts you to say BTW I have an STD you should probably get yourself checked out. DO other people get these calls more often? Also i know a few people that have had STD's and got them looked after, again probably about 6 or 7 now it is not a topic that comes up very often but when it does come up it is usually the same story. I do know that the health people in Ottawa gets about 140-150 cases of Clamydia a year reported and about the same for Ghoneria, syphilis is a dinosaur at least around here. Next time I am in the clinic I will ask them how many times they have found a throat swab return a positive result. Am I some kind of loon are other people get "the call" more frequently than I am??

Never any issues, I avoid places that have multiple providers simultaneously working out of them, ie massage parlors (unless it is a solo place) and ladies that share places with other providers (you know who you are with and what you are doing in the room you are in, but have no idea who is visiting or what they are doing in the same location in a different room). All the raids and arrests have been in places that are obvious common body houses with multiple providers. Or of course street sweeps I think it goes without saying avoid the streets. The reality is that some SP's and hobbyists are not as mature as Annessa and her client, or they don't get checked because they are "fine". Some of you reading this are that person that does not know were the clinic is or has only been there once and it was over a year ago. That is why we owe it to ourselves to get checked regularly. I have some kind of horse shoe up my a__ as I have never had any issues but I know several people that have, it is not an alarming amount and I can probably still count on my hands the total number of people that I know that have had an std. Also STD's and STI's are called that because they are sexually transmitted, they do not transmit easily through other means of contact. H1N1 is a virus that is an extremely aggressive virus that does not need sexual intercoruse to pass, If you get this (I know an extreme example) or a more common simple virus than you cannot say for sure it came from sex, however if you were kissing an SP with a nasty throat infection coming on that is probably the source. Part of the issue here is the STD/STI that you get from obvious sexual intercourse can be very difficult if you take it home to a family. I am not saying it is OK to take home a nasty throat infection but if you do it will probably not end the marriage. Having said that the traditional STD/STI are predominantly passed on with unprotected sex. If there were a variety of ways to pass them on they would be common viruses not STD/STI's. Of course it would be a great alibi if this stuff actually did "live in toilet seats"

The funny part is if they put half the effort into a truthful add as they did into running the scams they would make more money. The verbous BS and fake pics fool the newbies and first timers, however the long term stability is in good regulars.

And just so we are clear if someone thinks Dancing is safer than escorting they are wrong, very wrong. The pitfalls and dangers are present in both environments and in some cases worse as an escort and some worse as a dancer. I don't want to drone on about things that I have seen happen around me however it is very true the dangers are real in either place and yes they are both sex workers, if you want an entertainer go to yuk yuks or the NAC. Dancers are burdend with the work of having to entertain large groups while escort usually only entertain on a much smaller scale.

The clinic on Clearance has a lot of great help and information about this stuff, as a hobbyists I go there at least once every three months but I think SP's should go every month, they do throat swabs as well as vaginal swabs so it is not a bad idea to get both, however the transmission of things Orally is extremely rare. The overall numbers for most STD's are very low, they have statistics if you are that kind of person. I do find some of the information can be presented in a preachy kind of way if you get the wrong person. Also worth noting if you go see them and tell them that you see more than one person a year than you qualify for free Hep a,b vaccines! That is cool :) Just had a booster today :) it takes three rounds over 6 months to get the full dose, however if you are planning to travel a lot of countries need these shots and they are usually purchased out your own pocket, so for that alone it is a great value, plus the fact that you are reducing your chances at hep B a very nasty thing indeed!!

And to those confused by my first post saying it was people in the poly group with the issue, it was not people that attended the lunch or get involved in the discussions. It is negative people who try to exercise some control over the ladies and people by sending nasty messages and undermining the overral activities. Thanks to all who have read I do think that in general we understand the problem and are relatively helpless to avoid it. As Annessa so eloquently said we can choose to avoid the people who try to bring this negativity around us.
