  1. News love fear mongering.. I guess it's not as interesting to report on the great and lovely vacations people have outside the country. There's is so much out there to discover, learn and see. I actually love visiting (parts) of South America. I heard a lot before going there, but I've never come across anything like bribes or abnormally high crime rates. (Though I did find a lot of people stand really close when they talk to you.) I've walked around at night in Asia, stayed with strangers in Europe... once you get out and start seeing places you start to see how similar people are no matter where they live. Don't let fear stop you. If you want to travel, you should.. you're probably just as likely to face unfair persecution here as you are in a lot of other countries. Edit: Oh and you can totally go missing anywhere! Even here.. Was just reminded of Owen Rooney, who was an Australian who went missing here, in Canada, after being beat up.
  2. LOL! True.. I just meant that 'judging' seems to be a big part of people and even encouraged by some. It doesn't matter if it's clients, gays, sex workers, people on social assistance, smokers, the disabled, pregnant women, minimum wage workers... judging others on matters that don't concern us seems to be something we all do at one time or another.. even though we should really know better.
  3. I don't think you can destigmatize clients... Some people don't care for education or to hear anything other than what they think. Trying to change minds on this is like trying to explain that the bible is ridiculous. You can win some people over, but most want to think what they want... What we have to do is teach people not to judge others on things that don't, (or shouldn't,) concern them. I think the only proper way to do such is to lead by example.
  4. Wow.. this is quite the thread. I hope guys who like to talk about paying last, (and only if it's worth it,) and making legal contracts with escorts, (so that you can be sure she's going to suck your dick without a condom,) carry lots of lube with them... because I don't think this sort of stuff is ever going to make anyone wet... ever.
  5. I like getting the flu shot, but I've learned to (at least try,) not care if other people get it or not... I think I might do some research into what type of a virus flu actually is though, as my thoughts on viruses (such as HPV, Herpes, HIV) are mainly that they're not as easily combated by our bodies... they stay with us. With bacteria (as far as I know) you do, technically, have a chance to fight it off... Not that I would want someone to try and fight off say, gonorrhea without medication-- but what I know of viruses is that it would be easier to fight off gonorrhea without medication than it would be to build a true immunity to flu. I think everyone is within their rights to not get a flu shot-- or any sort of medical intervention... but it does make me worry sometimes that people might take similar stances on STDs someday, thinking they should just try and fight it off rather than get treated properly. Addition: I found this really interesting article on what a virus actually is.. really cool & kinda scary all at the same time! Kinda like the Borg... http://science.howstuffworks.com/life/cellular-microscopic/virus-human1.htm
  6. Both. I have a few fake trees that I'll be putting up in other parts of the house this year. They're funky non-traditional looking trees. The real tree (now that I have space for one,) will be going in my living room.
  7. An interesting rebuttal from the G&M on the subject... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/commentary/editorials/in-spite-of-the-evidence-we-humans-are-getting-smarter/article5364261/
  8. I agree 100% with this. I personally love the commercialization of Christmas, and while I understand that not everyone does-- no one is forced to buy things for it. I like that it's not as much of a Christian holiday as it use to be... it's more for everyone now. (Though some people in my family still refuse to do anything special for it.) Sometimes I just get together with my friends and family who do celebrate, exchange little inexpensive pressies and eat, drink.. generally have a good time. Other years I go all out, I fill my world with twinkling lights, all sorts of colours and ridiculous decorations. (I even got some Star Trek tree ornaments last year :icon_wink:) I cook all sorts of fancy finger foods and spend a small fortune.. but it's all purely by choice. Those things aren't needed to enjoy the season. This year instead of an annoying push to get the Xmas buying season started, seeing some stuff in the stores was a nice reminder that I should start a little earlier this year, avoid the rush the week before Christmas and actually enjoy that time with people instead of in line at the stores. I'm so looking forward to Christmas this year.. I might even put up my tree & lights early. :)
  9. I think the flu shot is kind of like the HPV shot, it works.. but it's not an 'every strain possible' vaccine. So they have their limitations. If someone wants to take the chance on the flu, fine. Just stay home if/when you get sick. The flu does kill a lot of people, but I've known few who have had it that bad. When it comes to tetanus, rubella, HPV, hepatitis, polio.. and many others -- I'd much rather take my chances with the vaccine than the disease. If it's incurable or has a high mortality rate, your odds are better with the vaccine anyway.
  10. I love all types of tea... White, black, yellow, green, herbal, fruit.. I have a soft spot for chai with raw sugar and a bit of cream. Lately I've been drinking a Milky Oolong, flavored Earl Grey and Rooibos. I also love Matcha. I highly suggest finding a local tea shop, (they're in more places than you'd think.) There's a great tea shop in Quebec, (they have an online store as well..) they have lovely mixes and a large variety of teas to give you an idea of what's out there. www.tealux.ca
  11. Lots of things 'sully the name of the industry', there's not much point in getting worked up about it, especially if you have gents to see. (I doubt riled up makes for a great session..) I think some people fail to remember that this industry is FAR from perfect, most of us don't come into the business because we've always wanted to be escorts. Some people go through terrible things, they also have the possibility to change. I assume the jump to OD was made because if someone was so noticeably high, then that would be more of a possibility? I don't really know... I've known people who smoked pot, but they never seemed noticeably high and I don't do drugs so I don't know how far seeming high and ODing are away from each other.. /shrug When you ask an open, generalized question.. you get thoughts and hypothetical answers based on different possibilities. I don't really see anything wrong with that. xx
  12. I wasn't even thinking about 'Good Samaritan' law, I was simply thinking about liability. Please correct me if I'm wrong, (and I should mention I would never, ever do this and would be saddened deeply if anyone did, as roamingguy said-- this is a human being and should be helped anyways) but... I can go to a gents house or hotel, he could OD or have a stroke/heart attack and I'm legally allowed to just leave him there to die? I don't have any legal obligations to call the police, ambulance or 911 unless I'm the cause of his dying? I just figured that if you could prevent the death by calling the authorities and didn't, you could be liable for contributing to the death.
  13. This is great advice... but I would like to add to it slightly. If you come across someone, be it client, escort or anyone really, and they need serious medical attention you don't only have a 'moral' obligation to do something, in Canada you also have a legal obligation. You are legally not allowed to just leave someone there to die. I very much hope no one has to be put in such a stressful situation like dealing with someone who's had a heart attack, overdose, stroke, ect... but if you do, you need to do the right and legal thing and get them medical attention immediately. I would also suggest bringing it up with the lady for a couple reasons; 1. She may not be high. I've come across people I thought were high, but weren't. As someone who doesn't get high, I'm not really the best judge of what high people look like, unless it's glaringly obvious. 2. Maybe she doesn't realize she has a problem and you pointing out her being high might actually make her think about what she's doing. xx
  14. I adore my e-cig. It's really clean and smells like fruit... I don't think I could ever go back to real cigarettes. I never really liked cigarettes though, I use to quit and then slip and have one then quit again. It was overly stressful.
  15. It (legally) does not matter the job of the person(s) who create and bring to term a child. Adding doctor, SP, actor, politician to the persons sex doesn't make ethics or laws any different. I think people are slightly confused about the current laws in Canada regarding child support. You can be court ordered to pay child support, but they are not allowed to force you to pay as they once were. Which is why there are so many people, including politicians, who simply don't-- and get away with it. (This doesn't only apply to men either, I know women who were ordered to pay child support and simply don't.) But really, this is pretty black and white thinking... It's not the 1950s anymore. If the world were as simple and you make a baby and care for it, there wouldn't be deadbeat dads and moms, single parents, child support, CAS, foster care, signing over of parental rights.. ect. If you actually worry about getting someone pregnant, even with condoms, pills, spermicide, ect.. and you are male, I would consider a no-scalpel vasectomy. (If you're worried about wanting children later, you could consider sperm freezing and storage.) I've personally looked into tubal ligation, but was denied such as it's major abdominal surgery and not a simple out-patient procedure.
  16. Great non-latex dental dams.. http://www.undercovercondoms.com/Condoms/Hot-Dam/333/Hot-Dam-Nonlatex-Dental-Dam.html?KeywordID=5806 Found them the other day while buying new latex ones, they're really nice and only slightly more expensive than the latex ones.
  17. I agree, though I'm not always worried about a guy messing with the condom... sometimes they're simply not stored properly, (in a wallet or glove box for weeks or months,) which makes them fail/break/tear very easily. They need to be kept in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and the expiry dates should be checked regularly. If a guy insisted on using his own condoms, I'd pass.
  18. I don't really think it's a new thing or necessarily a bad thing... When I went to church as a kid, we were always encouraged to wear what we like and spend time after the serious bits socializing and meeting the boys our age. (I was not originally raised Christian though...) I highly doubt Jesus would care what anyone's wearing or even if they attend church... he was a fairly open-minded and forgiving kind of guy. Maybe he'd even like to see people letting loose a little and showing a little boob? Who knows.. ;)
  19. No problem. ;) I actually remember being told in sex-ed to use plastic wrap, but then non-microwavable stuff was still the majority of them. I found out a couple years ago though that this is no longer the norm, and without proper testing and such, they decided to stop suggesting it altogether. Dental dams can be annoying to find (especially if you want latex/powder free.. unless you can get a dental supplier to sell to you, which isn't always that difficult. I know EcoBee make a powder free dam called 'BeeSure', but I haven't been able to find them anywhere yet.
