This could be why they're bringing up the prostitution bit.. "McPherson has come a long way since being recruited as a prostitute from a Vanier playground. She was only 13 when she started turning tricks for junk food and cigarettes, then money. In a meeting with the Citizen while she was still working as an escort, she claimed one of her clients was a member of the Ottawa Police Service. She also gave the Citizen a tour of the Vanier playground where it all began, and pointed out the hotels where she took money for sex." http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Businessman+Girlfriend+Water+Deal/4464685/story.html#ixzz1GzdV94Jd If she gave them an interview about how she had been exploited and ended up in prostitution.. well they're probably going to toss that in there.

I see this a lot.. People wanting to get the 'best' out of 200$ price ranges... and I always think it a little funny that people (mostly) always want more for less. If I make 300$ per hour, I'm going to be putting a good part of that back in my business. I'm going to be able to cover my costs and have some left over for business and personal self improvement. If I only made 180$, it would barely cover my bills. People think "over inflated", but those people have no idea about the costs involved. It's not just all about my time, I have to cover what I spend just on my business every month... and it's not nickels and dimes.

I really think it depends on the lady. Some, like myself, require advance notice... some, just a few hours. I'd suggest reading a lady's ads and website, a lot of the time it will say as much there... if not, I don't see a problem with asking. How else are you to know? I find it kind of annoying when new clients want to see me right away as I need time to prepare and screen them... I don't mind with clients I've already met. But those are just my personal choices. I don't really find last minute bookings (or any bookings) through email that difficult.. I use gmail, have never waited for an email and my email comes directly through to my blackberry so I can answer them as soon as I have a free moment.

Flu vaccine, are you getting it or not? and why?
Parker replied to Loralee Reach's topic in Health & Wellness
Those "nasty things" in vaccines are there for a reason... Most of them keep the virus, ect.. from reproducing, taking over your system and some of them even help you immune system. I think "Bullshit" did an episode on vaccines where they made fun of the crazies and explain exactly what and why vaccines are important. (All while being hilarious... ;)) For example; mercury... People were always freaking out about the mercury in vaccines. Did you know a tuna fish sandwich has something like 4 times the amount of mercury as 100 vaccines? There's just no reason to fear people into not getting something that could save their life... For a great example of how they work... check this video out, It's both informative and funny. xo -
Flu vaccine, are you getting it or not? and why?
Parker replied to Loralee Reach's topic in Health & Wellness
I didn't get the flu shot last year... and I got the flu 3 or 4 times from clients and other people I came into contact with. This year I decided to go for as I've gotten many other vaccines and don't believe in garbage conspiracy theories. (Why would they make people sick with a vaccine when it just ends up costing the country more money in health and hospital costs.. Completely unfounded...) This year, I have yet to catch the flu. If it's because of the shot or my obsessive use of hand sanitizer, I don't really know... but I'm happy I went for it as this is the first year I haven't caught it. (And I like to think of myself as a clean and healthy person.) I wonder if people think the same crazy stuff about vaccines like the one for HPV.. Or against antibiotics to clear up a STD.. The flu kills people, it would be silly to think Doctors wouldn't want to try an stop and lighten their load for other conditions/illnesses. -
Removing reco's for the wrong reason
Parker replied to Emma Alexandra's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Sorry to hear Emma... I don't understand how anyone could 'take back' the good time they previously had. (Not to take away from Emma's thread, but...) Another thing that is really, REALLY annoying is when a client disagrees with you about something and then goes through ALL of your photos removing every comment he's made over the years... It's extra annoying because you have to see ... "this person has removed their comment" (probably what they were going for anyways, lol) ... Still, very childish. -
Willing to bargain... Are you?
Parker replied to Grass_Hopper's topic in New to this? Things you should know...
Congrats! I mean, I could be wrong... Maybe it will help ya... I have a funny feeling they're probably off buggin' others at the moment though, seeing as they've already pissed you off. (Some will be back in a week-month when they forgot they already tried that shit with you... or at least that's the trend I see behind the time-wasters.) That's the problem, the one's that piss us off are the one's who really don't care. Like the one's that are always booking and then always canceling or just not showing up... I get it, they're beyond annoying... but aside from ignoring them, I don't think there's much we can do. Put your chin up, their trying to barter just means they know you're too good for them. ;) Don't let people like that win and keep you angry, blow it off... Doesn't bother you because you're way too good to let people bother you, you're too busy enjoying life while they're off trying to annoy people. 8) xo Side note; SA, some ladies do like to charge by the service... that's their choice. Not all of us are simply charging for our time, but that's no reason to try and barter someone rates. ... and I've dated guys before that try to barter down which restaurant we will go to that night in order to spend as little money as possible. Lol... Some people are just jerks. -
Willing to bargain... Are you?
Parker replied to Grass_Hopper's topic in New to this? Things you should know...
Seriously? LOL, Common now... now you're trying to make people mad? Very 'adult' of you. I hate when people tell me to get an education (especailly since I already have one.)... not that this was directed at me. It's just funny how some people get off on assumptions.. Anyways... This whole thread, while a good idea, has really been over done. Good gents won't bother trying this, the guys who will aren't going to stop because of some random thread on Cerb. Either change your advertising or ignore them... because you can't really just write a thread and make all the shitty clients go away. -

Mandatory STD testing for sex workers?
Parker replied to Megan'sTouch's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
That would be so much better... The problem is large, wide spread educational programs cost money and as Canadians we're already stretched pretty thin... they make cuts to hospitals, medical care, schools... they're not going to spend more money educating people about sex. Just another good example on how they could use tax money properly, but probably never will. I think we should probably look at both sides of mandatory testing before shutting it down completely. I know you ladies appear to think of it as a huge violation, but what if it got a lady in who wouldn't otherwise be tested and they catch something she would have passed on to clients who then might have gone to see you later...? Would you not feel better that you were kept safe by it? Or is it just such a violation to you that any such pros that could be seen from such could never measure up to the cons? I'm just trying to understand why the arguments against such seem so one sided... /shrug -
Mandatory STD testing for sex workers?
Parker replied to Megan'sTouch's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Someone brought something up to me today when I mentioned "mandatory STD tests"... I thought I'd add it here as I didn't think of it earlier.. o.O Now I am not entirely sure about Canadian nurses and doctors as I couldn't find any literature (in the brief time I spent), but American nurses and doctors are require to have regular and mandatory STD, HIV and disease testing... I know that the Canadian military has mandatory STD testing as well... and the military is not selling sex, or even closeness to another human being as we are. You can even be turned down for the Canadian military for testing HIV positive. (Though from what I've read, should you contract HIV while in service, you would be allowed to continue your service.) The other thing I thought of was University. Maybe someone could fill me in on Canadian Uni as I went in the States... but in the States there are tests (some of them for STDs) and shots you have to get before they will let you attend, I assume there's something similar in Canada? -
Mandatory STD testing for sex workers?
Parker replied to Megan'sTouch's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
It would be nice if the world could work like this... as is now, it can't and won't. I think we forget things when we are at a place like Cerb, like the fact that not all ladies choose this profession because they like it or want to do it. Even some of the ladies here are just using escorting to get somewhere else, like further/obtain an education that will take them away from escorting. Not all ladies want to be in this profession or know enough to be regularly tested... we have to think of those people and not just the intelligent "privileged" few we see here on Cerb. I think there's going to have to be some give on the escort side should we want people to (at least on the surface) accept us and our profession, mandatory testing (where we can just go to a clinic and get a form filled out, similar to porn actors) may be something simple that could give us the power to make more important demands... If we're all going to the Doctors anyways, what's the big deal? I think Canadians let their government abuse them... These people are supposed to be working for you, for us... not abuse whatever power they have, if people just let them then we're not doing our part as concerned citizens of what is called, "One of the most livable countries in the world." -
Mandatory STD testing for sex workers?
Parker replied to Megan'sTouch's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I'm not really sure why it's that bad... People who work in porn (as far as I know) must produce mandatory std and aids testing before being able to make movies... Plus, as in Australia, we would then have proof that we're not the "unclean" people that people think we are. Why not have some evidence to back our claim? I think if we go against something like such it would probably just open people up to suspicion. Unfortunately, education will not get everyone to the doctors and will not get everyone to stop working when/if they do catch something. I get we can't punish everyone for the bad's of a few... but we don't just hand people drivers licenses and say, "Sure, you could kill someone... but we trust you." Also, ladies... most STD tests can be done through blood work and urine tests... the only thing swabs are very important for are your cancer screenings. (Though swabs can still play and important part in catching things early and ease of diagnostics... ie. cultures.) All escorts (everyone who has sex really,) should have a doctor or health nurse they can get up to date facts on STDs and STIs from... to not is beyond foolish for yourself. After becoming an escort and talking with doctors, I've found there are more STD tests and ways to go about it than "normal" people would go through... like mouth and throat swabs, HPV specific tests... things I never had and barely knew about.... I wish they did std screening for candidates on places like AFF, but then people would just flock to a place that was "easier." ... though I doubt easier and safer go hand in hand much. xo -
A Question About Toys
Parker replied to roamingguy's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Toy cleaner is great for some toys, bondage rope I boil. Others like dildos and vibes can be covered with a condom a lot of the time... Sometimes I just toss cheaper toys after use like cheap ball gags, plugs, feathers. xx -
Any recommandations for a good CIM ?
Parker replied to oparala's topic in Ottawa Discussion - Escorts
Aside from the previous complications mentioned... Another thing is you don't know if you're getting the truth, or if the guy is trying to build himself up by saying he received a service that he never actually got... which is what happened to me. I was put on some CIM list and had people coming to see me looking for a service that I didn't even and had never offered... I was quite annoyed when I found out that no one had even asked me before adding me to some stupid "specific service" list... Just be straightforward and either seek out ladies who do mention or advertise they offer it or privately (and politely) ask a couple ladies you're interested in. -
Things like that can sound kind of scary when they're just throwing numbers and percentiles at you... An increase in STDS is like an increase in mental illness or even a increase of Autism... more people getting STDs is probably not the (only) reasons for an increase. There are lots of factors that could be there that they don't mention... Like the fact that there are more illnesses now being called STDs/STIs.. And maybe that more people are getting tested and treated than before... It's most likely a combination of things though and I wouldn't let them scare you into thinking that STDs are running rampant. (But I would let them scare you into being tested regularly, it's just healthy.)

Please Keep your cold at home
Parker replied to Parker's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Very true... For the record though, I prefer the cancellation... I'll take the lame excuse over even a guy who just not into me that day. We're all different so something that will annoy one of us may not bother the other so much. I myself am guilty (recently even) of disbelieving a gent who said he was sick... I didn't fullly disbelieve him, was more miffed that he had to cancel last minute, but I questioned it all the same (Both of which I did tell him though..) In the end, I'm happy he would chose to not see me rather than see me sick. I'd rather be slightly annoyed for a few hours than sick.. any day! I do generally try to give people the benefit of the doubt though as I would like the same when it comes to me. I've heard it becomes a bigger problem the less a person makes as well... They don't want to lose money by taking time off or out of their busy schedule, but they don't seem to think that they're now inflicting other people to what they have.. possibly forcing them to take time off. I really think more places should have policies where they send sick people home.. it's not fair that people who would have stayed at home now have to share contagious air. -
I'm not really big on... ranting... but I think some people are forgetting that your health involves more than just the regular slew of STD/STI tests and that a STD isn't the only thing I don't want around. Please do not show up to see me, or anyone really, if you think you may have/may be coming down with something. You really shouldn't be anywhere except at the doctor or at home, getting better. The other day a typically-lovely gent came to see me, one I've seen before... near the end of our time together he said something along the lines of thinking he had picked up a bug that was going around his office. At that point in time any enjoyment I had during our time together dropped down to nil. Hard not to when he basically told me he may have knowingly infected me with some random rhinovirus... and he's not the first person to do this this year. I was hoping maybe he was wrong, but no such luck... Today I have a horrible case of the sniffles, a pounding head and very little will to do much of anything. Aside from the fact that I had to cancel appointments I was looking forward to, apologize and disappoint... Now I feel horrible, have to go back to the doctors and spend more time in bed recovering. Not really my idea of a fun weekend. So please, when you feel like you may be getting sick, take a day or two off... Something that may have only affected one person is now spreading around and ruining the days of many different people, all of which could have been avoided... End rant. /crawls back into bed

Very true... Paypal will close accounts they believe are being used for anything adult related... even porn could warrant having your account closed. I thought alertpay did allow adult related, but I could be thinking of something else. There are a couple out there that do, though I've been told you have to wait longer for payments to clear.

I completely understand what you're saying, it seems we're not being taken seriously by a bunch of people. I personally get annoyed when people act like my work as an escort is my whole life or somehow is everything I am and I'm never off the clock... looking for clients everywhere... At the same time though I'd rather have the government recognition that my line of work is work. It's just really hard to call it work. I have a lot of friends outside the industry that just don't get it and I can't explain it to them.. to them it's just a loophole that allows us to do what we want.. and they're not entirely wrong. I know of very few, if any, lines of work that have absolutely no standards or regulations... and I really think we have to make it work on a different level before we start trying to convince the common public that our work deserves the same amount of respect as other jobs. (It's a hard sell) All we're going on now is faith and happy clients... We have almost no proof that our profession deserves recognition. We work hard, damn hard.. I'm not saying we don't or don't deserve such... but we can't ask people to blindly believe us.
-
I will have to disagree here.. I think that's an overly narrow definition of the word date, which can mean many things. I've always used it (in escorting and outside of escorting) to refer to an appointment... which I believe is actually part of the definition. I just don't think we should be picking apart terms here.. I believe if we're going to talk about the work being recognized as such, it has to become something more than this partial legal loophole that only a portion of people really know about or understand... terminology isn't going to change people's views of us... as nice as that would be.
-
I don't think there's right and wrong in regards to such, just different. If you're not comfortable, you're not comfortable.. I'd just go with what you're comfortable with. I personally like older men, I've always been attracted to older men.. that's my preference... I may get it from my Mum though, she was almost 30 years younger than my Dad. xo
