After reading your experiences Mod, it makes me wonder if common sense is really common after all? Wow...

I guess like anything else, you just get used to the keypads and two thumb style of typing. I just have one of those slide out keyboards on mine and it took awhile to get proficient at it, but it beats the shit out of trying to compose anything on a number pad. I couldn't be bothered to get good at that, do not have the patience!

If you don't need a smartphone, don't waste your money. Should you want to be kept up to speed with emails you're receiving while you're away from the computer and you have a cell phone, you should be able to forward the emails to your cell phone for absolutely nothing (as long as your provider doesn't charge you for incoming texts). You won't get the entire body of text or attachments, but you get around the first 160 characters depending on phone/provider. And there's plenty of decent phones that you can buy outright for less than $150 (no contract) where you should be able to connect to a webmail account and send emails...with a slide out qwerty keyboard. Web access may cost a few dollars more depending. Smartphones have tons of neat and wonderful features, but if you're not sure you need that stuff, you probably don't need that stuff ;)

A certain reality you're going to have to take into consideration is that there's a plethora of girls out there doing this work who only do it for the money, are pimped out, and/or have drug dependencies. If they need more money out of desperation and start becoming apathetic about the personal boundaries they set before, they will cross that line. And what happens as a result is that customers see how they can get more 'menu choices' for the same amount. They get more business and this will have a trickle down effect by siphoning into some other SP's client bases. You would hope that many of the clients would steer away from the girls with problems but, most of the time, they are completely unaware. I think a lot of them would be quite surprised actually. For you to say that no one should do anything that they're not comfortable with is correct, but unfortunately it does not reflect reality for some girls. In regards to offering an extended menu for a higher rate, I don't see that as hypocritical. Some girls like anal sex, but it is a 'premium' service so they charge more for that option. If a SP simply advertises that she has no restrictions and the rates are the same no matter what, every client out there is going to want that from her.

That might be the next logical progression here...girls desperate for cash offering that and charging the same as everybody else. Then some others will follow...

I think you're too hard on yourself as an industry and there was probably nothing that anyone could have done to change it. Whatever the mitigating circumstances that shaped the rates over the years were, they were too complex and grand in scope to be altered. And that sounds very similar to this whole economic fallout we are in the midst of! Some incredibly intelligent and astute people could see that coming, but were powerless to do anything about it. Even the solutions that are coming about as a result could end up being more horrible choices that make things worse...

There certainly is more of a variety of crap to spend our discretionary income on now...maybe that's where a big chuynk of money is going? You got people walking around with iPhones and luxury cars that shouldn't have the means to do so, and a lot of that is on credit. You made the right choice as far as the monitor goes. One of the biggest scams going right now is the extra $ that people pay for 1080p because they are told that is the best, end of story. All broadcast TV is 720p and unless you have a 58'' screen or bigger, the difference in picture quality between 1080 & 720 is almost unnoticable. There's so many different tech specs to consider for buying this stuff these days, and the majority of it means nothing unless you have very specific needs. For example, if you watch sports and want to get a 32'' LCD TV, it is more important to have 120hz then it is to have 1080p. But that's not what people are led to believe, because it's much easier to pick one thing like picture resolution and processer speed and market that. Just from a personal perspective, on average I will not spend more than $200/hr. On occasion I would consider going as high as $300, but very, very rare. This puts therefined, elegant, educated, model type girls out of my hobby realm and that's fine, it's not what I want. The girl next door is just right for my enjoyment and my wallet and when they are asking $400-500, that's when I say no thank you. It's a luxury that will be missed but not essential... CL has officially gone crazy. Shows 100 posts per page and I just checked it at 11:50PM and there are only 3 showing from the day before at the bottom of the page...97 ads today in total. With all the scams, fly by night ventures and sketchy ads, legit ads need to be posted 2 or 3 times so as not to be buried in all the other refuse. Another theory that may hold water is demographic shift. The baby boomers have become progressively older and perhaps less likely to participate, the subsequent generations are a smaller base and more likely to be educated in what they can get and for how much. Or not, that'll probably require a doctoral thesis to find out... However, there was also mention in another recent thread about rates in the 90's and how they were less than what they are now. As I interpreted, the same type of girls that charge $200-220/hr now were asking $120-140 back then. That seems to be right on target for an appropriate inflation boost over say, 15 years?

A bit scary to see the headline, but the circumstances cited in this case and the precedent were of extreme instances. Although I'd like to see what was said in the forum to see how far it went in regards to breaking hate crime and slander laws. There's a slippery slope there for sure...

That sounds similar to the way I was feeling at one point, so I said fuck it and started to hobby. It actually had quite a healthy effect on my outlook since I stopped going through all the rigours of trying to meet someone 'normally' and discovered that if I wanted some temporary companionship, it was a phone call, email or text away. You meet some sweet, pretty and interesting girls for the most part, and if you get a good feeling or a nice personal connection there, you repeat. Do what feels right and take it from there. Just remember that it is what it is and that's what it is and you'll do fine ;)

I have always had them over to my place and never once has it been a problem. Not saying no one ever has problems but it has never been a concern for me. The only 'scare' I ever had was having a girl over that I had never met before and only communicated via email for booking. She was a no-show for the night and right around the time she was supposed to arrive, a car pulled out in front of my place with 4 loud and drunk guys in it, and they stayed out there for quite some time. Can't say I speak for Inaluki, but I interpreted that as generalizing certain SP's, not all as a whole. Personally, I've heard girls comment on what others are doing and how little they're charging for it. Fortunately, you have the right attitude by sticking to what you believe is just and not letting what goes on outside effect your principles.
