I completely agree with you, Lexy. I've been very fortunate in the fact that I've never had to cancel an appointment. However, I do at times have a very unpredictable work schedule since I am "on call" in addition to my regular hours. Therefore, in my initial contact with an SP, I advise them of this fact in advance. I also assure them that in the event something unforeseen occurs, I will notify them at my earliest convenience. After all, it's just common courtesy.

I can't believe this place lasted for as long as it did due to the brazen way the establishment promoted itself (Neon signs!). After they got busted, they would be back in business the next evening. I felt bad for the next door neighbours who were routinely awoken at 3:30 in the morning by drunks who were knocking at the wrong house. I heard that the city even gave them a break on their property taxes because of this.

I heard that she was on oxygen 18 hours a day and sleeps with a mask. It's most likely due to being confined in a closed space for so long where everyone smoked. I can't comment myself since I was never actually inside the building, but I've heard from various sources that they would never open a window at Park Avenue, even in the summer so that passersby wouldn't overhear anything. Others have said that the ladies had to do chores and Pat wouldn't turn on the heat in the winter. This all seems a bit far fetched in my opinion... most likely hearsay.

I've never actually timed it, although after an evening appointment I tend to feel calm and relaxed for quite sometime. I've also found that a good session is very sleep inducing for this reason. I love just lying on my bed after the lady has left, taking it all in, traces of her perfume still on the pillows... the perfect way to drift off and get a good night's rest.

I see your point. This is why I always opted for outcall and never actually went to visit one. However, what about an incall at a lady's residence? Are they less at risk of being busted by LE?

I didn't know about this... I always assumed that it was the client who paid the driver's fee, hence the reason that the rates for outcall were substantially higher than incall.

Emma raises an interesting point - Of those agencies which existed in HRM, why weren't there any that were upscale? E.g. ( Select in Toronto etc..) Additional Comments: As an aside, there was an outcall agency in Halifax called "Mature Escorts" which seemed pretty decent from what I could tell, but they went under at the start of 2005.

Exactly... Some of the most memorable ladies I've seen (Toronto and Halifax) include Mandy, Nicole, Tess, Kelly, Tina, Savannah, Amelia, Olivia, Kyra, Lori, Jenn, Deme, Faith, Kara, and a couple of other ladies whose names I can't remember off the top of my head. Sadly, a lot of them have since left the business.

I know... you're absolutely right. That's why the whole thing was pretty embarrassing for me. The thing is, most times I never forget a face, which is why I was so shocked that I couldn't remember her. If she hadn't said anything, I would never have known. I guess over the years, everyone I've seen ran together into a big blur. Granted, there are some ladies who I'll never forget. Unfortunately, she wasn't one of them.

Kyra, Just wanted to comment on your eclectic musical tastes - Have you heard of a group named Hooverphonic? They are classified as "trip hop", something similar to Portishead, only better! Look for a CD called "Blue Wonder Power Milk" It came out in 1998 and it's absolutely amazing. The best way to describe it is "electronica meets classical" There are truly some incredible songs on there. (This Strange Effect, Battersea, and Eden) to name a few.

Only problem is, I'd always want to be test driving the merchandise! *lol* :mrgreen: Additional Comments: With regard to the above, I admire those individuals who were able to make a go of it. Obviously, the knew something that others didn't, and certainly knew how to run a business well. Furthermore, the fact that incalls are illegal didn't seem to deter them in the least. For instance, A well known incall operated in the area for 18 years, and when the final bust occured, the owner was slapped with a $4,000 fine and that was the end of it. Well worth it, when you consider the amount of revenue that must have been generated over the course of time that the agency was in operation. Additional Comments: I certainly do that, although I find there is more work involved. For example, there are many ladies whos advertisements catch my eye. However, I hesitate on seeing them since they are unknown quantities, so to speak. I don't feel like taking chances. Also with independents, there is also the issue of scheduling, which can sometimes prove to be difficult. I often book in advance to find a mutually agreeable day and time. However, with an agency things are much more convenient. If you find one that is reputable, you can more or less be assured that the ladies who work there are reputable as well. Also, calling an agency is great for spur of the moment bookings. In other words, I could call on a whim and have a selection of ladies to choose from, and have one at my door within half an hour.

Stay away from asking personal questions. In my experience, I've found that as you cultivate the SP/client relationship over the course of many appointments, the ladies tend to let you into their lives a bit anyway and volunteer info. In fact, I've learned a great deal from regulars simply by keeping my mouth shut! *lol* In all seriousness though, I take it as a compliment that a lady felt comfortable enough with me to do that.

Sometimes I'll have some jazz or classical music playing in the background. I remember when I saw the lovely Kyra TO... she had her own mix cd made up for the occasion - it was awesome!

This is a topic that's been playing on my mind for awhile now. Once upon a time, Halifax had a thriving assortment of brothels (both incall and outcall) as well as outcall only agencies. In the past five years, all the reputable ones have disappeared. I've heard a few theories on why this has happened. One is that more ladies are gravitating toward being independents in the internet age. This may be true to a degree; however, during the 1990's and 2000+, Halifax had the best of both worlds - independent ladies who advertised on Cerb and in other media, as well as the trusted agencies that had made a name for themselves over the years. In other words, both facets of the industry co-existed in relative harmony for as long as I can recall. Another argument has been that no one really wants to take on the risk of running a brothel anymore. Perhaps, but it seems that most of the well know bawdy houses operated with relative impunity for many years, with LE (vice) looking the other way for the most part. Also, why is there a dearth of reputable, upscale outcall agencies? IMHO, someone with initiative, good business sense and the willingness to provide quality service would do quite well. However, most of the agencies out there today seem rather sketchy. I've heard from others that they are surprised by this, and were expecting a lot more selection since Halifax is "a university / port town" in their words. Apparently, this theory doesn't ring true . Any ideas on why this is?

What if the SP outs YOU?? This actually happened to me a few years ago. I went into my local coffee shop to get a cup of java. The lady behind the counter says "How are you doing?" I reply I'm doing fine and place my order. Then she gives me a big smile, puts her elbows on the counter and leans forward, then asks me the same question again. At this point, I'm looking at her a bit odd. She says "you don't remember me, do you?" I reply, uh, no, not really... Then she gives me a knowing look and says, "Oh, yeah - I've seen you before..." At this point, I'm dumbfounded, so when she returns with my coffee I say, excuse me, but where do I know you from?, at which point she replies: "At your place, only I wasn't wearing a uniform!" So, it finally dawns on me, and we engage in small talk for a bit before I leave. The truth is, I can't believe how brazen she was. I mean, what if I would have been with someone? Thank God I was alone! :roll:
