  1. On larger transfers I find that cash is rather inconvenient, it's physically awkward and can be a burden to both my date and myself as we have to physically go into the bank to withdraw/deposit. In addition I don't enjoy having an envelope of cash to hand off, for me it just takes away from the date feel. Depending on the country of origin I find either email, wire transfer, etc. to be much easier and convenient, often the fee involved in such services is nominal and unlike credit cards it is often a lower risk in regards to claims of fraudulent use. It never hurts to ask a lady if she would accept an email transfer for payment or if she is set up for wire transfer, keep in mind that these would need to be processed in advance so you would need to trust the lady will follow through with the date or refund the funds in a timely manner.
  2. You tease! WiT if you buy the Margaux I'll be happy to offer up my hotel room as a makeshift tasting room... as long as you promise to share. ;)
  3. Thanks WiT, I don't consider myself a wine aficionado either but I do enjoy a glass or two and figure the only way to learn is to get out there and start tasting. As we've discussed before I do enjoy the east coast and have been hoping to return for a vacation for quite sometime so I thought this might be an opportunity. I appreciate the information, I'll have to look up the store.
  4. http://www.mynslc.com/Content_MarketingPages/Content_Events/Events_PortofFestival.aspx I've been thinking of making the trip out to Halifax for the Port of Wines festival and wondered if anyone has any information on it? Would you recommend it? Has anyone attended the Winemakers' dinner or the tastings and do you believe it's worth attending? Any information is appreciated. :)
  5. LOL! Okay but I still don't think you just slipped it in the conversation, not bad though and pic worthy. Here's a few of my favorite quotes: The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity. -Voltaire I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Kahlil Gibran The question to ask should not be: Do we have something in common - reason, self-consciousness, a soul - with other animals? (With the corollary that, if we do not, then we are entitled to treat them as we like, imprisoning them, killing them, dishonoring there corpses). I return to the death camps, the horror that convinces us that what went on there was a crime against humanity, is not that despite a humanity shared with their victims, the killers treated them like lice. That is too abstract. The horror is that the killers refused to see themselves in the place of their victims, as did everyone else. They said 'It is they in those cattle-cars rattling past.' They did not say, 'How would it be if it were I in that cattle-car?' They did not say, 'It is I who am in that cattle-car,' They said, "It must be the dead who are being burnt today, making the air stink and falling ash on my cabbages.' They did not say, 'How would it be if I were burning?' They did not say, 'I am burning, I am falling in ash.' In other words, they closed their hearts. -J.M. Coetzee
  6. You are a wise one WIT. ;) There is a book I've recommended to a lot of the ladies in the industry (and in other industries as well) it's a bit dense at times so I understand it's not everyones cup of tea but I think it's worth finishing. It contains a lot of excellent insight into different business models, client needs, etc. The Art of Profitability
  7. I appreciate where you are coming from but I believe we all bring a unique perspective and unique experiences and depending on where we are in life this will be reflected in our actions. We have to have some flexibility and offer allowances for that as we don't know the story here passing judgement on someone else just doesn't seem fair without full disclosure. We don't know what happened, we do know we were not given the entire story and we don't know the other lady involved nor do we know what her side is. Like you I have extensive experience outside of this industry and I apply that knowledge to this industry. I will however agree with Carrie that it doesn't always apply, I can't imagine what HR would say walking into this work environment.  In regards to this situation it reminds me of an RFP I was working on back in another life. For months we were putting the proposal together, everyone was on it but the client kept making changes, altering the deadline, changing the scope, etc. Everyone on our team was getting frustrated as we were sinking hours of work into it and there was no end in sight. Eventually there was a meeting held, everyone on the team was there and despite this being a potentially huge account the decision was made that we would not pursue the account anymore. There had been another push back on the request, analysts, researchers, writers, BD execs, even the interns would all need to sink even more hours into this account and we wouldn't see a penny on it for months and that was if we were to win the proposal. At that point everyone was angry, frustrated and no one had a kind word to say about the company. Now in a large company they have someone senior and client facing to contact the client and diplomatically withdraw us from the RFP process. What's important to remember about this industry is that most ladies are young, new to the business world and running a one lady show. What do you think would have happened had my company asked the intern to please contact the company? :ablow: We learn with experience and a lot of the women out there are doing the best job they can and are doing a great job for taking a first or second job that is fully independent. This can be a pretty high stress job with a lot of responsibilities and a lot of work, I think it's unrealistic to expect them to be working at senior management levels right from the start.
  8. Congrats Mod, that's a lot of posting (and thanks btw - since I'm one of the PMs today - LOL). Take the night off and celebrate, you look like you're a little stressed. ;)
  9. I wasn't sure if it had to be a savory app. or if something sweet was okay so I thought I'd offer a couple of suggestions, both "stuffed". Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes 24 cherry tomatoes try to pick up both red and yellow Cut a small portion off the bottoms of each tomato so they will sit on a try without rolling. slice off the tops of each tomatoes and scoop out centers with the small end of a melon scope to make a hollow yet sturdy shell; discard centers. Turn cherry tomatoes upside down and use the bottom for the top when stuffing. This keeps them standing straight. Invert tomatoes onto damp paper towels and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate until ready to fill. Using a small spoon, *I actually folded up a parchment bag with no tip so it wouldn't clog on 'chunky bits', fill each tomato with about 1 teaspoon of the filling of your choice. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Remove from refrigerator 15 minutes before serving. Filling: Mozzarella Cheese Filling: 1 to 2 teaspoons pine nuts, toasted and coarsely chopped 4 ounces fresh soft Mozzarella Cheese (can substitute Daiya Cheese to make the recipe lactose free & Vegan to accommodate guests) 2 tablespoon chopped oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives Salt and freshly ground pepper Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place pine nuts on a baking sheet; bake for 10 minutes or until a light golden brown. In a bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and chives. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Alternate filling: Guacamole 3 avocados - peeled, pitted, and mashed 1 lime, juiced 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup diced onion 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional) In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, and salt. Mix in onion, cilantro, and garlic. Stir in cayenne pepper. For something a little different maybe try Fresh Figs with Goat Cheese and Lavender 8fresh Mission figs 2tablespoons mascarpone cheese 1/4cup goat cheese, softened 1/4teaspoon dried lavender flowers 1/2tablespoon honey or agave nectar 2-3sprigs fresh lavender, for garnish Rinse, dry, and halve each fig. In a small bowl, blend together mascarpone (or cream cheese), goat cheese, lavender flowers, and agave (or honey). Spoon cheese mixture on top of each fig half. Garnish with fresh lavender sprigs, if desired. Enjoy! When I made this I used the mascarpone and agave (why it's first in the directions, I tend to alter them in the notes when I save them) I ended up getting a variety of cheeses from Monteforte dairy, so it wasn't just Goat Cheese that I used but some sheep as well and some different flavours which didn't always compliment the lavender so I decided to play with different herbs and spices which was a lot of fun. Just be sure to cut the fig into small bits to if you are taste testing as it's not the kind of food you will want to eat in large quantities. I also ended up doing some stuffed medjool dates, same cheeses but with a candied ginger on top to contrast with the lavender. I liked the lavender better but I found some people really preferred the ginger which was a more familiar flavour. Whatever you decide I hope it turns out well.
  10. That letter is a classic. The West Wing episode came out after the letter was circulated on the internet for a few years, though I believe the nude photos of Dr. Schlessinger came out first. 8-) I have a special place in my heart for her, really I do I admire her integrity. http://www.bay-of-fundie.com/archives/466/laura-schlessinger Carrie the West Wing was a great show, definitely worth watching!
  11. Meathead, I just logged back on now, I did not edit my post. The post was not meant to embarrass you but rather I was hoping it might be helpful for the next time you might contact another lady on the board. I don't recall you ever contacting me via PM nor have you posted on my guestbook. It's possible you are confusing me with another lady on the board. I don't wish to get into any debate over such a simple comment however I used myself as an example in the post in order to not single out any other lady on the board, it's common courtesy on the boards when making a post to use yourself as an example rather than another board member (unless it involves kleenex and antlerman). .Kyra
  12. I think the bigger issue here is that you didn't use PM effectively which can irritate a lot of users, not just ladies in this industry but in all businesses that use social networking. Private Message is a lot like email, it isn't a form of instant communication but rather should be used much like writing a letter. When you write a PM you should include a greeting, a brief introduction (provided you have not communicated before), the purpose of your message and a closing. The message you sent had no clear no purpose so the person responding did not know it's intent and effectively had no idea how to respond or what the appropriate response would be. If you had said "Hi Kyra, My name is Wally and I was reading your post on Widgets, I thought it was rather funny. I am a shy guy and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I live in Nantucket I own a large bucket factory which brings me to Toronto regularly. I hope to hear from you soon. Kind regards, Wally" I would know who you are, what the purpose of the letter is and I would be able to start a conversation. At this point you will find out if you are contacting the type of lady that interests you as you seek someone that you can connect with in advance (via conversation), there is nothing wrong with either styles of companion but they are different and you can choose which suits you best. If she does not wish to connect via conversation she will let you know and you can seek out someone that will, if she prefers the connection then you can carry on with the conversation and arrange a date when you feel comfortable. The point is to ensure that you are using PM, email, text, etc. effectively, failure to do so and the message will be lost no matter what lady you contact. I very much enjoy a conversation with my companions must admit that had you sent me the same one line PM you sent her I would likely wait 3-5 days to respond then would reply with the word "good" or "pleasing". It should be noted I would reply without quoting the original message. ;)
  13. I can't speak for her but my assumption would be that she is advertising, the same way that many ladies announce when they join twitter or any other social networking site. This way guys like Pete who have accounts can join and interact just like they do on the board and see pics when they want, have a conversation with her and see updated schedules or announcements. There are a lot of people that prefer the format of the various social networking sites over a forum. :)
  14. Lamb Gorecki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PILJRHjUVEw&NR=1 I can't help but want to curl up in bed, the scent of soft vanilla mixed with the sweat from our bodies fills the room and we lie on pure white sheets. I imagine we would be drinking red wine with tall red pillar candles flickering all around. It would be hot in the room and I would grab an ice cube in my mouth from the nearby ice bucket (where the water chills) and would slowly trace outlines on my partners body, I would leave little water paths along them working my way slowly across and down... Depeche Mode Personal Jesus http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4718254690005800677# With this song playing I picture myself in a pair of black patent boots (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2249/2432295997_f338c39997_m.jpg) and black strappy marlies dekker lingerie while strutting for my partner. The baseline of the song just screams out sex to me, it's strong and makes me want to grab my partner and have my way with them. Our passion and sexual energy would look almost violent to an outsider but to us it would be pure raw pleasure. ummm... yeah  so those songs can get me hot and bothered. ;-)
  15. I can't say if they can go in whole but mouse parts have been fine in my bin. Ummm... yeah so don't ask how I know this but if you really want a rather foul stench I can say that the stomach (with contents) and lower intestines of several mice left out in the heat for several days gets rather sticky and creates a very unique smell. The entire body seems to contain that smell better than if you have just some of the innards in a baggy decomposing in the heat (unless left for a long time). Lesson learned. Oh and a metal paint scraper works better than a plastic one if you have to get innards up off your tile floor. :(
  16. Thanks WIT - in that case I wouldn't put this career on a resume. The skills you have developed can be demonstrated in other ways and if you'd like to show work experience either see if you can use those skills via some volunteer work or if you have a client or close friend that owns a business (that knows what you do) that is willing to provide a reference for you, that is where Administrative Assistant, Researcher, Event Coordinator, Project Manager, etc. would work. They could provide a verifiable and credible reference that would relate to the skills you have developed. This is only my opinion and I know many won't agree with me but depending on the industry you are going into many will not understand or be accepting of someone doing this type of work. As individuals they may not mind that you were a sex worker, they may even have a healthy respect for it but as a business the company will generally not take such a risk. If you are open and honest with them in the beginning they may worry that you will be that way with other employees or if you are client facing that you might also tell clients, this can cause a number of HR issues for them or affect their bottom line. If you choose to hide it but list something that seems suspicious such as Massage Therapist yet are not a RMT then they may ask about it in the interview, this will likely raise a few red flags, they will wonder if you are not being honest with them now what issues they are getting into and in a competitive job market it's easy to pass on the person that has something 'suspicious' on their resume. It's easier to pass on a potential employee than to terminate one once you've already hired one, in fact it's an absolute nightmare to try to terminate someone after you've hired them. I'm all for fighting for the rights of sex workers but I would recommend doing it from a legislative standpoint and taking it to task in the media. When you are looking for work go out there and do the best job you can, years down the line when you are successful at what you do let them all know it was funded by a few good men. ;) Again just my 2cents, probably not worth the penny it was printed on. 8)
  17. You need to look at the job you are applying for and customize your resume accordingly. I would also recommend you start volunteering at a small organization where some of your skills can be used, do office work for a small grassroots organization, volunteer to do online marketing for a few small organizations (become an expert in Web 2.0 marketing LOL! ;) ) for some fundraising projects and events for charities. Take a few courses, if you are not currently a student then take a few online University level courses. You can put all of this on your resume and very quickly spread it out so it appears that only the most recent and most relevant information is on your resume. When you go into the interview you sell it, this is where an escorts soft skills will shine and you can explain that you took time off to work on your personal goals which included volunteer work, pursuing academia and of course xyz job (if you have one to put on your resume). I would not lie about a job if you are applying to a large corporation, their HR dept will look it up and references will be required, having a friend fake a reference doesn't cut it anymore and it's not worth it if you dazzle them in your interview and pass any skills testing (or psych profile - gotta love those!) they throw at you then you'll at least get a second interview. Having a 6 year gap on a resume can hurt but it's explainable, just have a good reference, solid skills and wow them in the interview. Soft skills matter and that is one thing that few people can beat a good companion at, that's why they pay us the big bucks. :-D
  18. Yep, someone sent me that before. I prefer the Alanis one but I know a few people that preferred the Peaches version (and more than a few that preferred the original). :)
  19. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Original by Leonard Cohen - which is absolutely amazing on it's own! Elwood - Sundown Original by Gordon Lightfoot - I think it's interesting to note the song is rumored to be about Cathy Smith his girlfriend around the time he wrote this who was later sentenced for delivering John Belushi a lethal dose of Cocaine and Heroin, this has not been confirmed by Lightfoot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUO4y5_P-Bg George Winston - Riders on the Storm Original - The Doors -some of you may have read my post Riders on the Storm, it's one of my favorite songs and I listen to this classical arrangement almost as often as I do The Doors version. Nouvelle Vague - Making Plans for Nigel Original by XTC - Nouvelle Vague is a cover band, I could have chosen any of their songs but was in a "nigel" mood today, they have some very interesting covers though. There seems to be a ton of bands that make a successful living off 'loungey' covers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwD3IytOUbE Alanis Morrissette - My Humps Original by Black Eyed Peas - one of the most ironic covers I've seen, just brilliant! I was never really an Alanis fan but when I see something like this I realize that the hamster is running in his wheel. Camp Freddy - Good Times Bad Times Original by Led Zepplin - Camp Freddy is a cover band it's core members are Dave Navarro, Billy Morrison, Matt Sorum, Donovan Leitch and Chris Chaney (I had to look that up!) and they have special guests for each show as well.
  20. Quite some time ago I started this thread on another board with this song, the thread got a lot of responses. I can't wait to see some new songs. :) Sweet Child o' Mine - Taken By Trees
  21. You can find them just about anywhere nowadays, I found this one just sitting on a street corner... Who knows where you'll find the next one but I hear there is one at an airport with bags packed for the South Pacific. ;)
  22. Well the lingerie line is called "on leave" so it's only appropriate that we do the same together. Shall I start packing? :)
  23. Well Cato you know what they say in (the) South Pacific... Lots of things in life are beautiful, but brother, There is one particular thing that is nothin' whatsoever In any way, shape or form like any other. There is nothin' like a dame, Nothin' in the world, There is nothin' you can name That is anythin' like a dame!
  24. How could I forget I used the mechanical version of you just this morning. twice. ;-) Oh and I apologize for missing you, I was in a rush to get back to my hotel room I had this tall sexy red head waiting for me and you know how it is... you can't keep a lady like that waiting. Next time you have a night out you'll have to let me know, that is if you don't mind stray Kyras tagging along (I have excellent taste in women, really I do!)
